Ruhe is usually a quiet rodent, true to his name. He is rather modest and prefers to talk and flirt mostly. He also encurages shopping at plus-size stores and consignment shops, and usually has links to places to get fetish and/or BDSM gear designed for those with thicker curves in mind.
Very outspoken on the rights of the new incoming generation of furry fans, he works with other married furs and parent furs to encourage furry cons to join the movement other fandom conventions have started in creating child-safe zones. He believes that doing this will help avoid younger furs (and children of fur parents) being hurt at conventions. In a similar vein, he strongly dislikes ageplay, and had discouraged its practice in the Golden Lash as far as possible.

In his younger years, he ended up homeless for a few years. If asked about it, he openly admits his shame over those years and some of his actions during them, and yet is also proud to have survived and learned from the experience. Also, he seems to now have a more protective side, and will do anything in his power to help friends who need it. Many the fur has spoken of him traveling hours overnight to rescue female furs from bad situations, offer a couch to those down on their luck, and even give food and money to those furs who need it more than him, just to save furs from suffering the pain of being homeless.

He is currently married in real life and is employed as a pastry chef. He plans to move back to Seattle in August 2007, so they can open a coffee shop and start a family.

The Golden Lash (t goldenlash) is a BDSM establishment found on Tapestries. It is a BDSM club loosely modeled after a Victorian era Gentleman's club, the most significant difference is the fact that the club is open to all genders and all fetishes in the hopes of creating a community.

The original club focus was simply to create a place for people interested in BDSM and other fetishes to have a place to meet others of like mind and play. Under its current owner, the club is now trying to take on a more educational bent towards both VL and RL BDSM in addition to its role as a gathering and play space. Also, with the addition of a LiveJournal community, a mailing list, the current owner is trying to help create a unity of the players themselves, and help them feel more like a family.

The Golden Lash is currently owned and operated by Ruhemaus.

Rooms
The Lash has four floors, 2 private, 2 public. The private levels consist of the second floor and attic and are for staff residences. The lower two - including the backyard and stables - provide meeting and playspaces.

Ground floor
The ground floor consists of the front and back yards, the stables and the first floor of the house. On the first floor of the house is the lounge, the study, the cub cage, and the voyeur room. The basement holds the five playrooms, covering a wide range of fetishes with a holodeck to support more obscure ones.

*The Lounge is the meet and greet area, primarily for discussion, although there is a stage for performances, its richly furnished, but designed to be relaxing. In addition, it hosts the Spreader Bar.

*The Study is just that, a combination library, meeting room and playroom for discrete light scenes.

*The Voyeur Room is very simply a place to watch what's going on in the playrooms downstairs & the stables, should the participants leave the cameras on.

*The Stables are a dark and dismal abandoned building where anything can happen to those foolish enough to enter, it is the club's non-consensual room for those that desire playing out such fantasies. Note: Because of the NONC nature of the stables, a separate flag must be set in order to enter. Anything goes inside, and furs enter with the understanding only OOC safewords will be respected, and no one can become offended by anything that transpires within.

*The Cub Cage is a new side bar created to provide a public bar for ageplay with a BDSM slant. It includes several cub-sized BDSM toys and accessories as well as the ball pit room - a room that can be set as a furs' home, if they wish.

Basement Playrooms
The basement playrooms consist of five dungeons:

* 1) The Traditional Dungeon is inspired by your stereo-typical, mid-evil dungeon, and is fitted with the appropriate equipment such as racks, crosses and modern variations of traditional equipment. This room also hosts The Toy (machine #help), a rough interactive sex machine very similar to The Machine that used to be in The Tavern.

* 2) The Holodeck is for stuff difficult to place otherwise. Low traffic or impossible rooms are contained within, including (for example) Hell or a forest clearing.

* 3) The Bedroom is, at a glance, just a normal bedroom. Upon closer inspection, one finds that it is set up to be the ultimate bondage bedroom. It is one that most could only dream of having and is one the owner seems to enjoy flaunting.

* 4) The Restrooms and Showers are a bathing area created via Elvish magicks. They contain showers, hot springs complete with a waterfall, bathroom stalls with glory holes, and sinks with mirrors for bathroom scenes.

* 5) The Medical Center is for those into medical, doctor/nurse fetishes and comes complete with a fully equipped doctors office and nurses station.

Rules
1) Respect for your fellow fur is required at ALL times inside the Golden Lash, per BDSM and MUCK etiquette. Disrespect (Outside of OOCly consensual dirty-talk/humiliation) will not be allowed! Disrespect includes, but is not limited to: interrupting the scenes of others/white knight-ing (Yes, if you're given OOC permission to play out saving someone, its allowed.), disrupting the intended use of areas, bashing gender/species/sexual orientation/kinks/role playing ability, insulting furs and/or making jokes at their expense, and claiming a fur's attention and/or personal space without first whispering/paging for permission first. This is in line with MUCK-wide policy on this matter.

2) The Lounge is the primary hangout for the Golden Lash. It is requested that the club remains an area for IC/OOC conversation, Unlike the rest of the club, which is reserved for IC interaction. Sexual Roleplay is of course welcome and allowed in ALL rooms of the club. In any debate over OOC or IC interaction, though, IC will ALWAYS win. If furs request OOC chatter to stop, it must.

3) The stable is non-con, and requires a separate code to access (see the 'DIRECTORY'). IC protests, safewords and the like will not necessarily protect you, but OOC safe words will.

4) Safewords. According to Wikipedia, 'A safeword is a codeword or series of codewords that are sometimes used in BDSM to mean that a bottom or submissive is reaching a limit or for the Top/Dom to stop the sceneplay.' We comply with MUCKwide rules & respect safewords here at all times.

5) Pets/slaves/submissives/etc. have the right to break, exit, raincheck, put on-hold, or otherwise end a scene if their owner requires them to come when called. We do request that both dom and sub carry a cinfo field stating that they are owned or own a pet so potential partners are informed up front. Likewise, if a staff member is not in the mood to scene, please respect that.

6) The MAIN ROOMS (The Yards AND The Lounge), being public, are not for roleplaying bloodsports, non-consensual play, scat, sexual ageplay, watersports and extreme forms of humiliation and violence as per MUCK-wide policy. You can explore the Stables (backyard, s) for non-consent play, and the side bar, The Cub Cage, for public scenes involving BDSM and Ageplay. For the rest, please enjoy a side room or playroom that is not in immediate public view. If, at any time, furs complain about a scene happening in the main rooms, they can be requested via whisper to move to another room.

History
Originally started by Joseph Harrison, variously known as Red.Jack, Allegro, Woggle and Fluxxx, it was later transferred to Ruhemaus (September '05) who transfered ownership to Sayai_Wolff (November '06). It was later transfered back by the Wizards to Ruhemaus (March '07).

Plans
Plans for the FurryMUCK version include the addition of a court room and holding cell playroom area, in addition to a more advanced viewing gallery system that will conserve club space. These plans are on hold indefinitely. Permission has also been given to look into creating a Golden Lash on Second Life, by popular demand.

Caballo Isle (t eb, beach, jetty, ferry) is Pirate Roleplay Area on FurryMUCK, Caballo Isle and it's surrounding waters were finished in January 2005, and officially opened for business. It is an entirely In-Character area based very loosely off of Furry Pirates and the Pirates of the Caribbean. Based in fictional Spanish-conquered seas, furs build homes, pirate ships, Naval ships, and roleplay out adventure on the high seas.

History of Caballo Isle
The Island and it's surrounding waters were conquered by the Spanish in the early 1600's. As the ruling class in this area are all equines, they gave the island the name of Caballo Isle, or Horse Island. Likewise, the Spanish theme is continued with the village's name of Yeuga, or Mare, and Mount Pechos or Mount Breast. The Roleplay takes place 50 years after the conquering, and with the waters now firmly under Spanish rule.

Goverment
The area known as Caballo Isle and its surrounding waters are under the Governorship of Tinder, and is enforced by the head of Her Royal Majesty's Navy for the area, Commodore Ruhemaus. Luckily for the pirates, the Governor is quite corrupt. In exchange for keeping the East side of the village stocked with rum and women, the pirates pay a tithing to her with every raid they perform. If the pirates are ever found in default of their debt, the Royal Navy is sent out to convince the pirates to pay their dues under penalty of death.

Technology
As it is a pirate area, furs are requested to keep in theme all times. The area has a strict limit on the level of tech one can use. Furs are allowed the use of gunpowder and some steam tech. No magic-powered ships, and no flying except by hot-air balloon or natural talents.

Magic
Magic is limited to two forms: Voodoo or island/native magic, and inherent talents. Characters such as fey or demonic races can use their powers as long as they arn't abused. If they are, a 'magic dampener' may be placed on the character by the local Navy. If the character is a wizard or similar, they are requested to change them to the theme and setting of the area, I.E. a priest/priestess or a local shaman or medicine person.

Areas
There are many areas that make up Caballo Isle and it's surrounding waters:

Caballo Isle
The main Island in these waters, and the seat of the local Government. The island is comprised of the Township of Yeuga, the docks which serve as a port, plantations, beaches, and even Mount Pechos.

East Yeuga
The East side of Yeuga belongs to the pirates. It is here where the local Tavern, The Roavin' Raccoon, and the local Brothel, The Laughing Lady, reside. The Roavin' Raccoon is run by RC, and The Laughing Lady is run by Hekele. Also, The Laughing Lady is an Adult area, and one must be over 18 to enter it. It is also here where the Brig is, which is where furs are swept to if they fall asleep inside this area.

West Yeuga
West Yeuga is where the more respectable villagers and townfolks live. It is here where there is planned to be the church, apothecary, clothing shop, and other businesses and shops that would not fit into the East Side of Yeuga.

Mount Pechos
Mount Pechos is where the local plantations reside, and is also where Governor Tinder has her mansion. This location was chosen to be as far from the docks as possible, in case the pirates ever rebel against the local goverment.

The Seas and Surrounding Waters
To the west of Caballo Isle are 9 seas named along the points of the compass. Off of these seas are several other islands that help make up the Area.

Bauble Cove
Residing inside a dormant volcano, Bauble Cove is run by the Pirate Lord Bauxtillion. This is a hangout for pirates on the high seas, or a place to hide for those pirates that may have not paid their taxes to the Government of Caballo Isle yet. It has a village of it's own, and also The Tasty Fish, a tavern talked of on all the high seas.

Gypsy Island
An island claimed by a traveling gypsy band looking for a home, this loose band is led in a fashion by Yanashia. The small island has beaches, a jungle, a network of caves to explore, and even a village of their own. The gypsies make goods to sell on the other islands in the area, as well as act as performers for Pirates, villages, and even the Navy alike. They hold no alliances, and are instead the neutral parties of this part of the ocean.
:My feeling is that it probably did take place, given this LiveJournal thread (scroll down a bit), this post and the fact that underage characters appears to be a hot-button issue over at the aforementioned LJ. It certainly seems to be the case that access to the club has been blocked on the basis of rule infringement in the past. Regardless, the event belong on The Golden Lash, though RuheMaus' underlying belief probably belongs here, if anywhere. --GreenReaper 09:42, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

::Well, that works for me from the factual standpoint. Now we just have to find a way to reword it so that it is less inflamatory. Otherwise, we're just asking for trouble from people who see his assertion that (CubCental == pedophilia) and get pissed off. --Dmuth 14:32, 30 January 2006 (UTC)

:::I must admit it's sad when the fandom works so hard to protect the vocal minority like this, Dmuth. It's got me seriously thinking of starting an anti-cub art/sex group in furry. Because, let's face it, it really has gotten out of control. Ruhemaus 14:17, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

Former owner of the Golden Lash, a BDSM club on Tapestries, RuheMaus is a well-dressed mouse in a world filled with nudity and sex. A self-proclaimed gentleman's dominant, he prefers sensation play and gentle restriaints over the rougher elements of BDSM. Very proud of his jewish faith, he runs the FurryJews mailing list so other Jewish members of the Furry Fandom can keep in touch. He also created Maus's Law, a furry answer to Godwin's Law.

The Character
Ruhe is usually a quiet rodent, true to his name. He is rather modest, & prefers to talk and flirt mostly. In the underbelly of Layleux, though, Ruhe has an ongoing RP that in a bloody coup he took over the sewers of Tapestries and rules them by controlling several nests of rabid rats that answer to his beck and call. The Bloody Rats, as they are called can be called forth to defend him - or others for a price. Lately, though, he just relaxes as the head of The Golden Lash and raises his virtual family of mice.

The Player
Unlike most furs, he seems to prefer plus-sized females. Some think it stems from his love of cooking, but he claims he just prefers females with rounder, more realistic curves. Whichever the case, he has helped the flow of some of the full-figured roleplay and artwork in the fandom to edge away from extreme BBW, and instead feature women who just have a few extra pounds.

Many the fur has spoken of him travelling hours overnight to rescue female furs from bad situations, offer a couch to those down on their luck, and even give food and money to those furs who need it more than him, just to save furs from suffering the pain of being homeless.

He is currently married in real life, and is also attending school to become a Kosher Chef. Eventually he hopes to move back to Seattle, once he and his wife finish school, so they can open a kosher resturant and start a family.

The Golden Lash (t goldenlash) is a BDSM establishment found on Tapestries. Originally started by Joseph Harrison, variously known as Red.Jack, Allegro, Woggle and Fluxxx, it was later transferred to Ruhemaus who transfered ownership to Sayai_Wolff who manages the pace with Chanelle and a large staff. A BDSM club loosely modeled after a Victorian era Gentleman's club, the most significant difference is the fact that the club is open to all genders and all fetishes in the hopes of creating a community.

The original club focus was simply to create a place for people interested in BDSM and other fetishes to have a place to meet others of like mind and play. Under its current owner, the club is now trying to take on a more educational bent towards both VL and RL BDSM in addition to its role as a gathering and play space. Also, with the addition of a LiveJournal community, a mailing list, and even a radio stream run for BDSM furs separate of Tapestries itself, the current owner is trying to help create a unity of the players themselves, and help them feel more like a family.

Contained in that first floor is the foyer, lounge, study, game room and viewing gallery. The basement holds the playrooms, covering a wide range of fetishes with a holodeck to support more obscure ones.

*The foyer is both a place to learn a shorter tport pattern, and a place to quietly read the boards, rules and other things without being disturbed, as well as connecting the front yard to the lounge.
*The lounge is the meet and greet area, primarily for discussion, although there is a stage for performances, its richly furnished, but designed to be relaxing. In addition, it hosts the Spreader Bar.
*The yiff room is a room pumped full of pheremones. It is intended for sex, mastrubation, and more sex.
*The study is just that, a combination library, meeting room and playroom for discrete light scenes.
*The viewing galleries are very simply a place to watch what's going on in the playrooms downstairs should the participants leave the cameras on.
*The stables are a dark and dismal abandoned building where anything can happen to those foolish enough to enter, it is the club's non-consensual room for those that desire playing out such fantasies.

*The traditional dungeon is inspired by your stereotypical mid-evil dungeon, and fitted with appropriate equipment including racks, crosses and many other items, including some modern variations of traditional equipment. This room also hosts the The Toy, a rough interactive sex machine very similar to The Machine that used to be in The Tavern.
*The Bathrooms are a bathing area created via Elvish magicks. They contain showers, hot springs complete with a waterfall, bathroom stalls with glory holes, and sinks with mirrors for bathroom scenes.
*The bedroom is at a glance just a normal bedroom. Upon closer inspection, one finds that it is set up to be the ultimate bondage bedroom, one that most could only dream of having.
*The medical center is for those into medical/doctor fetish, with a fully equipped office.
*The holodeck is for stuff difficult to place otherwise. Low traffic or impossible rooms are contained within, including (for example) Hell and a forest clearing.

Rules
1) Respect for your fellow fur is required at ALL times inside the Golden Lash, per BDSM and MUCK ettiquite.

3) The stable is non-con, and requires a seperate code to access (see the 'DIRECTORY').

Plans
Plans for the FurryMUCK version include the addition of a court room and holding cell playroom area, in addition to a more advanced viewing gallery system that will conserve club space. These plans are on hold indefinitely. Permission has also been given to look into creating a Golden Lash on Second Life, by popular demand.

Rules
1) There are no white knights allowed, breaking up a scene will get you punished. Yes, if you're given OOC permission to play out saving someone, it's allowed.

2) The Lounge is the primary hangout for the Golden Lash. It is requested that the club remains an area for IC/OOC conversation, unlike the rest of the club, which is reserved for IC interaction.

3) The stable is non-con, and requires a separate code to access(see the DIRECTORY). IC protests, safewords and the like will not necessarily protect you, but OOC safe words will.

4) Safewords: 'A safeword is a codeword or series of codewords that are sometimes used in BDSM to mean that a bottom or submissive is reaching a limit or for the Top/Dom to stop the sceneplay.' We comply with MUCKwide rules & respect safewords here at all times.

5) Pets/slaves/etc have the right to break a scene if their owner requires them to come when called. We do request that both dom and sub carry a cinfo field 'Owner Rules' so potential partners are informed up front. Likewise, if a staff member is not in the mood to scene, please respect that.

6) The MAIN ROOMS (The Yards AND The Lobby), being public, are not for roleplaying bloodsports, non-consensual play, scat, pedophilia, watersports and extreme forms of humiliation and violence. You can explore the Stables (backyard, s) for non-consent play, and the side bar The Cub Cage for public scenes involving BDSM and Ageplay. For the rest, please enjoy a side room or playroom that is not in immediate public view.

By setting themselves 'bdsm?:yes', furs acknowledge that they have read the rules and will respect them. If the managers or staff of The Golden Lash feel that they are not complying with the local or MUCK-wide rules, they may be temporarily kicked or permanently banned. Using alts, email or messenger services to bypass a ban or harass the owner RuheMaus, the managers, or other staff or house pets will result in a permanent ban along with a complaint against the original fur being filed with the wizzes.

Plans
Plans for the FurryMUCK version include the addition of a court room and holding cell playroom area, in addition to a more advanced viewing gallery system that will conserve club space. These plans are on hold indefinitely. Permission has also been given to look into creating a Golden Lash on Second Life, by popular demand.

The owner of the Golden Lash, a BDSM club on Tapestries, RuheMaus is a well-dressed mouse in a world filled with nudity and sex.

In the underbelly of Layleux, though, Ruhe has an ongoing RP that in a bloody coup he took over the sewers and rules them by controlling several nests of rabid rats that answer to his beck and call.

In a similar vein, he strongly dislikes ageplay, and has discouraged its practice in the Golden Lash as far as possible.

In his younger years, he ended up homeless for a few years. If asked about it, he openly admits his shame over those years and some of his actions during them, and yet is also proud to have survived and learned from the experience. Also, he seems to now have a more protective side, and will do anything in his power to help friends who need it.

Originally started by Joseph Harrison, variously known as Red.Jack, Allegro, Woggle and Fluxxx, it was later transferred to Ruhemaus who runs it to this day with Zalika.

Ruhemaus: /* Ground floor */ - Game Room, + Yiff Room

The Golden Lash (t goldenlash) is a BDSM establishment found on Tapestries. Originally started by Joseph Harrison, variously known as Red.Jack, Allegro, Woggle and Fluxxx, it was later transferred to Ruhemaus who runs it to this day.

Finally, there is a Golden Lash RL Gather planned at Califur 2007.
Populated by both plushie-loving furs, and living plushies, this small area works to promote good will and positive feelings among it's patrons.

Rooms
Main Room
Good for snuggling and light yiff or plushie play. Play in this room should always be consensual.
Premium Section
Here's where to go if you're interested in animate, 'living' plushies. Feel free to act as one yourself or roleplay out buying one with a friend. The propreitors are sometimes willing to take part in this themselves, too.
Lounge
Good for more private sexual scenes, consensual or not.
Stock Room
A publicly-linkable area for plushies (or others, if they'd like) to stay on a short- or long-term basis.
Manufacturing
May be part of a 'custom order' RP, and also has equipment for plushies transformations.
Recycling
Suited for fairly dark play; usually non-con, up to and including snuff. Be aware, if you decide to go in, especially if you're plush.

A publicly-linkable area for plushies (or others, if they'd like) to stay on a short- or long-term basis.
Manufacturing
May be part of a 'custom order' RP, and also has equipment for plushies transformations.
Suited for fairly dark play; usually non-con, up to and including snuff. Be aware, if you decide to go in, especially if you're plush.
Rules
1. Respect others. Respect safeword, be nice to the 'proprietors' (area admins; Asten and Matrian), try not to disrupt scenes, and especially, do not abuse the patrons or proprietors. Everyone has their own kinks. See 'policy harassment'.
2. Respect the themes of the playspaces. In general, the rooms here are set up for plushie play, with the plushies being animate or inanimate.
Regarding the adding/removal/re-adding of the Nazi Furs group, I did check out the group, and the info page explicitly says that the group is for furs interested in the history of the Nazi Party and World War 2. It goes on to say that it is not a hate group and will not tolerate trolls, white supremecists, etc. Given those details, I think that the entry for that group should stay on the page here. I'm not completely confident of my change re: Nationalist Furries. To me "nationalism" is specific to a political organism -- i.e., a nation. Their goals seem to be the unification of furries in philosophy and aims, but not (in my mind) in a "nation". Wikipedia's entries on Nation and Nationalism don't seem to address the issue -- or did they? When I was an editor at MacWEEK magazine, we had a rule: If a company or product name was spelled with exclamation points, all-caps, or other attention-grabbers, we removed them. I think it's a good idea. Without it, you get the equivalent of people Increasing their VOICES until EVERYONE! I see DuncanDaHusky made some improvements. I'm not sure about his decision to reorder the U.S. regions, which were alphabetical, to run roughly East to West. I actually think it's about time to include Wikifur links to individual communities, as well as the external links. I'm not sure what the best format for that would be. Thoughts? -- Sine 04:21, 22 July 2006 (UTC)
: I'd also prefer that topic headers not be a wiki-link to a wiki-article about a specific livejournal. How about formating that line into *Victims of abuse: Wounded Paws: Wounded Paws . Another possibility is changing it to the double-asterisk format used in the Art projects section (although that could wait until there's a second victims-of-abuse livejournal). --EarthFurst 01:30, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

:I don't think so, since there's a difference between hobbies and interests... there's communities for people who do x as a job or pastime, such as Furry DJs and Furry Farmers. -- Sine 05:02, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

::I'm fine with Furry Farmers being in the OaH list ("Occupations and hobbies") since farming can be a major job, but there are 3 main things I'm wondering about:
::(1) "Cars: Motor Furs" being in the Interests list while "Weapons: Furry Gun owners" is in the OaH list.
::(2) Perhaps the header could be changed to "Occupations (that some do as a hobby)" ?
::(3) how far do we go in what we consider to be a job? (examples: (3a) furrytattoos LJ includes those making money from tattoos, (3b) Bernal considers SexyFur to be a job (see CrushYiffDestroy's interview of Bernal), and (3c) I assume there are fursuit makers and other artists who make enough money for their art to be a job (whether part-time or full-time). --EarthFurst 20:01, 1 September 2006 (UTC)

Katatraz Prison (t katatraz) is the correctional institute for criminal furs on Tapestries owned by Serene. Katatraz Prison is a multi-purpose prison, containing facilities for many different levels of criminals. As the only long-term prison in the area, Katatraz houses everything from local offenders to those furs requiring maximum security cells, and/or Death. In addition, the prison is fully integrated, making almost no distinction between male or female prisoners.

While male and female prisoners are not housed in the same cell, they are housed in the same cell blocks. (Some exceptions to this have been rumored to occur, but are not officially sanctioned by the prison, and are usually the result of lost paper work. The entire area is NC, or acceptable for Non-Concentual sexual RP.

Security
Since Katatraz Prison incarcerates a widely ranging span of prisoners, several steps beyond simple walls and bars have needed to be taken to ensure that the inmates do not escape. The walls and grounds of the prison have been imbued with a powerful enchantment that limits magical abilities to a bare minimum, calculated to allow magical beings to survive, but too weak for very much in the way of external projections of power. This has the additional effect of preventing any teleportation in or out of the prison. Also, the tport, msummon, and mjoin commands have been disabled in the prison.

Although Katatraz Prison strives for an efficient and just system, like most prisons it does have it's share of corrupt guards willing to do favors for prisoners in exchange some type of payment. It also has Areas where one can ease their mind, soul, and body as well. Also a growing department for healers, alchemists, and yes psionics.

Magic
As mentioned above, magic is far weaker at Katatraz than elsewhere. The entire prison is inside of a near-null magic zone. Only enough magic seeps in to allow creatures that require a small amount of magic to survive to live. Furs that need more magic for survival often find themselves weakened or getting very sick due to the absence of mana (or whatever else is used for magic).

The main effect of this is that magical abilities, whether spells cast by wizards or manifested as a natural part of a magical creature, fail due to lack of mana. For example, a dryad would be unable to meld with a tree, and a kitsune could not use illusions, and a dragon can not use it's breath weapon. While these are natural abilities, they are also magical. A non-magical natural ability, such as a serpent's venom, would still work. Of course, other methods would be found to prevent inmates from using non-magical dangerous abilities.

In other words, when it comes to magic, don't use it. There 2 rings running about that allow magic in a certain area. One is used in the Healing room for mortal wounds that one would die from normally. This one is protected by extreme measures, and unable to be stolen. The other is kept by the Head warden.

Weapons
Weapon rules are also strict, to promote better RP. The only weapons that are permitted to be carried on a regular basis are the stun batons, Tranq guns, and truncheons that are issued by the prison. Other weapons must be okayed by A Warden! If they are then they become legal. This is to give an aspect of role-play for any type of new weaponry. Swords, and other medieval weapons are NOT allowed. Also nothing like them are to be allowed either (i.e. Light sabers).

Not being stupid or blind to the inherent possibilities of natural weapons,
Katatraz officials do take steps to neutralize natural weaponry as best they
can, stopping short of permanent damage. Inmates with dangerous claws will
have them trimmer regularly, or if that is not enough, coated with a non-
dangerous material which will blunt the claws. This is similar to coating the
claws in rubber. (Most vets have pamphlets on this procedure) Other methods
will be used to prevent inmates from using non-magical breath weapons,
including medical means such as administering drugs that restrict the needed
biological processes.

In short, no inmate is going to be permitted to run around the prison with a
built-in weapon, natural or not, that allows him or her to have a viable means
of assaulting a member of the Katatraz staff, guards, or other inmates.
Natural weapons possessed by guards or staff are not going to be neutralized
as a matter of course, but restraint and proper behavior are expected of them,
and the use of such abilities falls under the same rules as those governing
non-natural lethal weapons. Any use of natural weaponry, even in dire
circumstances, will provoke an investigation into it's use. Guards and staff
who use their natural weaponry recklessly could have it restrained while in
the prison, but are more likely to be fired.

Uniforms
Prison uniforms are simple, the standard consisting of a plain black and white striped shirt and matching pants. The orange jumpsuit, or any other state approved jailbird outfit. (if you want to do some homework so you can stand out go for it) Occasionally prisoners transferred in have other uniforms, which are usually allowed for economic reasons, as long as they meet the prison's basic stands of covering and cleanliness. Guards are required to provide their own uniforms, which must be neat, professional-looking and promote a sense of authority. Each Cell block set of Guards are allowed to have their own uniforms to tell them apart. Staff members are expected to dress in a professional manner, with attire appropriate to their jobs.

Ruhemaus:

The Bloody Rats started as an homage to the Mafia, and is an underground crime TP or [TinyPlot] on [Tapestries]. It was started by [Ruhemaus], and it's main 'Family' members are [Sara_C] & [EngleMaus]. The idea of the Bloody Rats were simple: Take over abandoned areas no one visits and use it as bases for illegal actions. They often will still have violent fights with other gangs in [Layleux], and often recruit from [Catatraz] for new enforcers.

The main strength in the Bloody Rats is a horde of blood-thirsty, near-feral rats that can be called at will to run errands, work as muscule, or even be cruel assasins when needed. No one's sure how the Maus family has kept control over the rats, but rumor has it that it's because their leader's daughter, Sara_C, is currently protected by the Maus family; as well as raised as one of their own. No matter the reason, they work as a seemingly never-ending wave that can swarm and overwhelm most enemies to the gang.

Along with the rats, the Bloody Rats also have an eccentric and inbred ferret family that works as indentured families to the Maus family. Known as the Arfurnio Family, they are a talented family of clothing designers that keeps every member of the Bloody Rats' upper echilon always in the best suits. The family, though, is spoilt off the money the Maus family provides them, and they are quite insane from generations of in-breeding.

Currently Ruhemaus has backed out of running the Bloody Rats, and is leaving that to EngleMaus and Sara_C. But, if needed, he still provides advice and acts as a mediator or patriach of the Maus Family when needed to solve issues with other gangs in Layleux. But after running most the others out, they currently see themselves as having no real threat for the moment.

A self-proclaimed gentleman's dominant, he prefers sensation play and gentle restriaints over the rougher elements of BDSM. Very proud of his jewish faith, he runs the FurryJews mailing list so other Jewish members of the Furry Fandom can keep in touch. He also created Maus's law, the furry answer to Godwin's Law.

Ruhe is usually a quiet rodent, true to his name. He is rather modest, & prefers to talk and flirt mostly. In the underbelly of Layleux, though, Ruhe has an ongoing RP that in a bloody coup he took over the sewers and rules them by controlling several nests of rabid rats that answer to his beck and call.

Created by Ruhemaus in 2003, he noticed that while Godwin's law covered most the internet, it didn't really come into play to stop most flame wars in the furry community. Thus he crated Maus's Law. Since it's creation, it's been proven true time and time again to be accurate. The law itself is as follows:

Maus's Law: As a discussion in a furry newsgroup or community (Be it on the MUCKs, IRC, Livejournal, Blogs, or any internet forum.) grows longer, the probability of someone involded in the discussion being implicated in art theft in some form approaches one.

Once this occurs, whomever mentioned one of the triggers has 'lost' whatever argument was in progress. This does not mean that the thread will end by any means; it just means that any
further posts to this thread are going to be pointless to read. Also, it should be noted that if you try to invoke Maus's Law just to end a thread, it will likely backfire & the fighting will become much more severe.

On a side note, As with Godwin's Law itself, the mention of Sibe and others like him are akin to name-dropping Hitler in a normal 'discussion'. To call the big names accused of art theft into the mix, and to insinuate someone was like them or may be them is referring to art theft itself, thus still enacting the law.

Areas
SPR's main 'city' is themed like a computer, with different areas named after different parts of a computer's hardware or architecture. Much of SPR's central and western landscape, as well as the MUCK's title screen, was designed by unci, a building wizard of the first years, who left SPR in 1999.

SocioSpace is a hard sci-fi minigame (similar to a MUD) built into SPR. This system includes combat, healing, and a spaceship system, programmed by the lead wizard for that area, Arian.

History
SPR was founded by Snout and DivineVixen on Sep 19th 1994 at 04:27:49 CEST, and was announced via @shout just before one of FurryMUCK's infamous six- to eight-hour database saves. The name SPR actually comes the parody comic of Tank Vixens, hence why the initial line when you connect is, <i>"Oooh, say the words.."</i> The phase also made an appearance in the Anthropomorphic Sci-fi comic Albedo. On that first day, over thirty players connected, each of whom was given a wizbit to make it easy for them to build and attach things.

Murphy the MUFMouse was a wizard from opening day in September 1995 to his resignation in October 1996. Murphy built the original space station (then called SPR Station), the first solar system, and coded all the vehicle programs.

In 1997, during a fit of pique, the wizard Mystique chose to @purge, thus destroying everything that she owned, including the page program and the say program. At this time, Winged was given a wizbit (along with Kathalla) to help piece SPR back together from a backup that Snout started running on another port.

Eventually, DivineVixen had to step down as head wizard due to her player's fight with Multiple Sclerosis, leaving Snout in charge. Syvel chose this time to @purge, thus getting rid of a lot of functionality that the MUCK relied upon.

It was just after Syvel's @purge that CATerwaul chose to limit the MUCK to wizards-only, for a period of some months. During this time, many inactive wizards were dewizzed, and several new rules and regulations went into effect -- including the requirement that MUCK-essential programs and objects needed to be owned by a new, wizbitted character named SPR, so that no @purge could damage the MUCK again.

Eventually, SPR came back for players to use, though its user base was much diminished (from a high of 191 characters connected, it now averages 60 to 80). Snout didn't want anything to do with the administration of the new MUCK structure, so he appointed three wizards to be "gods" -- wizards with the power to grant or remove wizbits. These were Natasha, Winged, and Benjamin.

Due to internal friction (and a lot of miscommunication), Natasha ended up leaving. It was at this point that Winged became pretty much the main God character. He made several unpopular decisions during this timeframe: Space became Arian's area to allow or banish people as he saw fit. Zinn was toaded and banished for alleged (i.e. disputed) violation of an order to stay out of Arian's space areas. Gud, DivineVixen's non-wizard character, was given a wizbit, and immediately began to violate SPR's rules of ownership, yanking possession of a BDSM-themed area from its owners. When Winged de-wizzed him, he began to bad-mouth the administration of SPR in the park, and Winged @toaded and banished him from what had been his own MUCK several years before.

Winged resigned as a wizard (much less head wizard) in November of 2001, amidst complaints that he was misusing his power -- among other things, Syvel asked for ownership of her programs back from SPR (Syvel having been removed as a wizard due to her @purging), attempting to revoke the GPL that she had originally licensed them under. Winged refused, citing her prior @purge and her player's legal issues, as well as the GPL which allowed SPR to maintain its own copy of her programs.

Physical location
SPR's server is physically located in Sweden. Therefore, SPR is not restricted by US laws. In particular, the use of the internet by children less than 13 years old is restricted in the US.

However, rules 0.1 as well as 1.1 of the SPR policies imply that anything you do is subject to:
# Swedish law
# international law, and
# any laws which apply where you are

Pedophilia and soliciting RL sex with those under the age of 15, or in some cases, 18, is not legal in Sweden.

Erm... I think this one should be flagged for NPOV. Additionally, it seems whoever wrote this doesn't seem to know that the GPL is not a perpetual, unrevocable license... Almafeta 20:40, 4 Nov 2005 (UTC)
:Regarding the GPL, I'm not sure the article actually implies that the license is not non-revokable. According to section 4 of the the GPL, the license can only be voided if the program was modified, copied, sublicensed, or distributed in a way other than the GPL allows. Looking at the article, none of that seemed to happen, just that Winged was had (presumably un-modified) copies of the program.

:Not having any additional knowledge about the situation, I don't know how to best word the entry, though. --Dmuth 21:11, 4 Nov 2005 (UTC)

:: I did some research about this, and yes, it does indeed seem that revocation is possible, and indeed more a problem for the GNU GPL than certain other "free" licenses. The revocation mentioned in the license is automatic, but the licensor ultimately retains the ability to revoke their license at any time (unlike a contract, which is not breakable on such terms due to the consideration given by the other party). Of course, doing so is against the spirit of the license, and therefore this is not typically a situation that comes about, but it is possible. --GreenReaper 04:50, 5 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Use of revoked works
This phrase was added by 63.107.185.23:

In an event the GPL is revoked from a piece of software, this prevents further distribution of the software under GPL's terms, but cannot require persons already possessing the software to stop using it.

I am unclear as to what legal basis there is for this statement. Copyright covers performance of a work, not just the action of copying. Moreover, it is very likely that copying is occurring, either for the purposes of backup or while actually running the code. Licenses are generally assumed to cover such copying - however, without the license, the right to perform such copies is similarly lost.

I have emailed GNU asking them about this. If I get a reply back, I'll post it here. :-) --GreenReaper 16:47, 5 Nov 2005 (UTC)

:It had never occurred to me that running a program could be considered "public performance" in the same sense as performing a song in a public place. I think that's a highly questionable and rather unreasonable idea, though I'd love to see any references to how the courts have interpreted it. Likewise, I believe that copyright laws in the USA only restrict distribution of a work, as opposed to the mere action of copying it. Thus, any incidental copies made while running the code, making backups, and so forth would appear to be outside the scope of the law. -- Zobeid

::I believe it is against the law to copy material in most cases, but nobody really knows or cares about it if you don't distribute it (although it's probably possible to think up a case where someone would care). The sticky part comes when you're not distributing it but when you are distributing the results of running the code . . . which may contain copyrighted works.

::As to your specific concern, yes, it turns out there is a restriction in US law on exclusive rights that allows the owner of a copy to run it. However, note the lanugage - the owner can do it. But the MUCK does not own the code! They were licensed it under the GPL, and that license has now been revoked. This is why most software is not sold nowadays - it is licensed, to more clearly restrict the rights that are being transferred. The GPL is a license, not a transfer of ownership, and therefore if it is revoked there are no ownership rights, and so no rights to copy the code in the act of running it - or even to keep it. --GreenReaper 03:47, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Err. . . Most software these days is indeed sold. Much of it also includes a EULA that says it's only licensed, not sold. But writing that in a EULA doesn't make it so -- sale is still a sale in the eyes of the law, no matter what you write in a EULA. Indeed, the holder of the copyright generally has nothing licensable except the distribution and performance rights. In the case of GNU software, once you've received it, it's in your possession, it's under your control, and its yours. A good comparison would be with a book. The book's publisher may lose his distribution rights, but the people who bought the book still own their copies and can do what they wish with them. As long as they don't engage in the activities that copyright law concerns itself with (namely, distribution and performance), there's no need for a license and no basis for one.

Put another way. . . For a software author to revoke my right to possess and use his software, he would first have to grant it. The law doesn't give him that power -- it would be redundant, because there is no law restricting my ability to own and use it in the first place. Copyright law doesn't concern itself with that. -- Zobeid

NPOV and recent history
Somebody who actually plays there should add a bit about recent history. When I read what is written here, I am glad to have left the mess behind six years ago. I could contribute a lot more, but it would only be about the "golden age" with probably little relevance to what is going on there today. And I'm not so inclined to log in there as a guest to see how things might have changed in the last years/months. - Unci 17:08, 5 Nov 2005 (UTC)

:I would say that Benjamin would be most suited to doing so, given that he remains a wizard there. Of course, NPOV issues come up there, but he would have the most access to raw information . . . --GreenReaper 17:13, 5 Nov 2005 (UTC)

Who Purged and Who didn't...
Actually, the history is inaccurate. I, Syvel, never @purged, and in fact, SPR still has in it's possession many of the original GPL'd works I placed there. I was brought in after Mystique and Murphy purged thier programs, crippling the MUCK, to help put it back together, and to bring in my colorized versions of many popular muck programs.

I do recall us running the restricted mode, a program which I wrote actually, but I talked to Snout today, and neither of us can remember WHY we did that. Maybe it had something to do with reconstructing.

I was originally brought in to help with SocioSpace, which Murphy wrecked with his purge, but I never got very far. Arian did a much better job than I did.

And I was never dewizzed for @purging, since I never did that. Even Snout would tell you, I retired my wizbit due to RL demands on my time and life, and no longer wanted to participate in the administration of a MUCK. It was about the same time I turned over control of FurryFaire to Snowpony.

The ONLY MUCK I've ever @purge'd myself (and programs) from, was Tapestries, and I was severely intoxicated at the time.

I'd have edited the entry itself, but I don't have a clear picture of what exactly took place then. It was a long time ago. It'd be nice if unci, or Winged, would chime in on that period of SPR history.

On GPL, yes, I did alter the licensing of my works about a year after leaving SPR's wizstaff, and tried to apply it retroactively, but found I could not, so I changed the new license to affect new releases only. This was in direct responce to continued plagurism of my works by unknown parties, but I found copies of my code, without my original GPL licensing or name, but the code was exactly the same otherwise, line for line.

As of this writing however, SPR still possesses older GPL licensed versions of my code, with my permission. When I was signed on as a wizard, I *PROMISED* Snout I'd never erase my code, no matter what happened, a promise I've still not broken, nor ever intend to break. I'm personally honored SPR still chooses to use many of my programs.

Thanks for reading to my side of the story.
