Furry music

2026-01-28T23:56:59Z

ReivanLion: Friend glazing? I don't even personally know most of the people that I listed, but pop off... Russelbuck re-added, they're one of the most sought-after artists at the moment. Notable artists give specific examples of what can define furry music.

wikify
copyedit
unref
Furry music is the term often used to describe music (the normal arrangement of sound to create some any combination of form, harmony, melody, rhythm, or otherwise expressive content) that is either performed by self-described members of the furry fandom and/or it revolves around themes of a furry nature.

Overview
The term "furry" has historically and primarily been used to describe a readily recognizable genre of visual art, often to the point of being used synonymously. Due to the overabundance and accessibility of visual media, manifestations of typically furry themes in other artistic forms of media (i.e., literature and music) have figured in lesser levels of prominence and quantity.

Music within the fandom
Nevertheless, music within the furry community not only has existed as far as the subculture itself exists (i.e. filks, borrowed from the fantasy fandom), it has become a lot more prominent since the turn of the century thanks to mainstream adoption of the internet.

The furry music space is, like the rest of the fandom, extremely creator-driven. Those who identify as furry musician range from producers, singers, instrumentalists, and DJs. The vast majority of releases are distributed under free licenses for commercial use by streamers, YouTubers, or animators.

There have even been some furry music events attempted, such as Aural Alliance Festival, though none have lasted more than 1 iteration.

By far the most common genres among furry producers would be various forms of EDM, VGM, Orchestral, Pop and Hip-Hop.

Musicians are sometimes given a Guest of Honor spot at furry conventions, which typically involves a performance on the mainstage as well as a comped flight, hotel room, and registration for the event.

The vast majority of music published today in the fandom is available on streaming platforms, though some still remains on non-music oriented platforms, such as the furry website FurAffinity.

Notable Furry Musicians
As furry music has grown in presence, artists have started to be noticed by conventions and outsiders alike, resulting in some tangible moments:

*Fox Amoore - Former FurAffinity administrator, instrumentalist who has worked at Abbey Road, creator of "All The Single Furries".
*Pepper Coyote - The most prolific fandom musician with dozens of Guest of Honor appearances worldwide & over 100k monthly listeners.
*NIIC - Creator of viral fandom song "Paws to the Walls" in 2014 which has over 2.5 million streams on Spotify alone.
*Cassidy Civet - Competed in Canada's Got Talent in 2022.
*WHSPRS - Competed in Austria's Soundwave 2025 contest, performed at FM4 Frequency Festival in 2025.

In addition, there are bands signed to mainstream record labels who have furry members and have been booked (or appeared) at conventions for this reason:

*Sarah and the Safe Word - Sarah Rose performed solo at DenFur 2023 and hosted a panel.
*Michael Cera Palin - Performed at Anthro New England 2024
*Car Seat Headrest - Will Toledo owns a fursuit, and often joins Scurrow on stage, but never in official CSH capacity.

Meanwhile, there has been many more viral hits courtesy of platforms like TikTok, among others. Here are just a few:

*Frizk - Furry DJ responsible for the massive TikTok hit "All My Fellas" from 2023, the most streamed furry made song of all time.
*Pent Up Pup - creator of "The Knot Song", which went viral in 2024, amassing over a million streams.
*Ren Queenston - creator of "Rubberband", later known as "Penis music", an iconic fixture of 2010s meme culture.
*Ivycomb - zeitgeist musician with many aliases.
*Russelbuck - rose to prominence after the release of "RAVEPOP" in 2024, reaching the number 1 spot of Bandcamp's Pop Chart. Russelbuck has over 500k monthly listeners on Spotify as of January 2026.

Charity
Charity is generally quite common among furry communities and this trend continues into its other artistic niches like music. There have been numerous releases or small labels dedicated to giving their entire revenue to charity. In this category the most notable project run purely for charity is the Furry Music Anthology.

Furry music

Nevertheless, music within the furry community not only has existed as far as the subculture itself exists (i.e. filks, borrowed from the fantasy fandom), it has become a lot more prominent since the turn of the century thanks to mainstream multimedia and technology.

What started as a smaller niche that included more or less universally known musicians and artists like NIIC, Pepper Coyote, Fox Amoore, Scratch21, GOJII, Car Seat Headrest (quite a few of which make it quite big) has become a very quickly growing community of producers, singers, labels, DJs and events.

The furry music space is quite an open and welcoming space and a very creator-driven environment. The vast majority of releases are distributed under free licenses for commercial use by streamers, YouTubers, or animators.

By far the most common genres among furry producers would be various forms of EDM, Dubstep, VGM, Punk and Hip-Hop.

In huge parts due to the growing availability to self-distribute through commercial services like DistroKid (owned by Spotify), or by community-owned projects like M.A.J.I.C Records, Aural Alliance or Walking Dog Music, you can find most Furry musicians nowadays all across various platforms from Bandcamp to YouTube over Spotify, Apple, and Amazon Music.

Notable Furry Musicians
As furry music evolves, notable musicians have began appearing throughout (or involving) the fandom globally, including:
Ken Ashcorp, Car Seat Headrest, WHSPRS, Russelbuck, Fox Amoore, GOJII, YonKaGor, Pent Up Pup, Alottadogs, Fons The Bun

NottsFurs is the name given to the local furry community and active furmeet held in the city of Nottingham, United Kingdom.

Furmeet
The Nottingham Furmeet currently runs on the first Saturday of every month at Golf Fang, between 12pm and 5pm, and is the UK's third largest furmeet by active group members.

Venue
The current venue, Golf Fang, has been enjoyed for it's photography opportunities and large venue space with and activities such as Pool tables, Minigolf course, Arcade and Karaoke. The venue dedicates a Fursuit Lounge for NottsFurs attendees.

Nottingham and the Furry Fandom
Nottingham has an untapped furry culture surrounding the city. Nottingham is the origin of the legendary figure Robin Hood, whose story was the inspiration for Disney's Robin Hood, a film very popular with and an early example of the furry fandom. There is a signpost next to Nottingham Castle and Robin Hood statue named "The Furry Sticker Pole of Nottingham", which as the name suggests, has been covered with Furry Stickers.

As of 2025, Nottingham Trent University's Student Union has a Furry Society, though unrelated to the NottsFurs meet.

Although there is a strong historical link between Nottingham and the wider Furry Fandom, there is no Furry convention based in the Nottinghamshire area. The closest convention to Nottingham is [[ConFuzzled] in Birmingham.
