Peter is the Wolf

Redneckgaijin: URL update

Peter is the Wolf is a weekly webcomic, hosted by White Lightning Productions, created by BAR-1 and Kris Overstreet, and centered on a cast of werewolf characters.

* Address: http://www.peteristhewolf.com/
* From/To: January 1, 2005/Present

The comic centers on the life of Peter Stubbe, a runty werewolf who happens to be the only male of his age group in the pack. He has to deal with the threat of mysterious capture squads, the needling of his best friend Jean Goodwin, the domineering possessiveness of Rebecca "Butch" Cramer, and most of all his human girlfriend, Sarah Hazen.

Sarah is literally Peter's biggest problem, since he unwittingly infected her with lycanthropy as a result of unprotected sex. Unlike Peter, who is a born werewolf in control of his transformations, Sarah is driven by uncontrollable instincts... and also unlike Peter, she's much larger and stronger than normal for a werewolf. This mismatch of small male and huge female leads to comedy, drama, and not a little sex.

Although the comic contains explicit sexual material, there are separate pages available for general audiences and for adults only. The comic has made use of this split format to provide different pages in the same weekly update, giving readers the opportunity to follow events taking place at the same time in parallel sequences.

Peter is the Wolf is reprinted in White Lightning Productions' anthology comic book Bootleg, beginning with issue #13.

Main characters
* Peter Stubbe, less-than-average werewolf
* Jean Goodwin, Peter's best friend-with-benefits
* "Butch" Cramer, agressive and posessive would-be mate for Peter
* Sarah Hazen, Peter's once-human girlfriend turned werewolf loose cannon

Talk:Genus (comic book)

Redneckgaijin:

This entry was edited to remove the claim that Genus is the longest-running American adult comic. The edit comment specifically claimed that Cherry Poptart (by Larry Welz) is longer. In fact there are no more than 22 issues of Cherry, plus a handful of issues of a fan anthology. I don't know for certain if there is another comic with a longer run than Genus- the joke and cartoon magazine Sex to Sexty ran for nearly two hundred issues- but Cherry ain't it.

:OK. That appears to be accurate. I've reverted it for now. --GreenReaper 06:03, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

:Perhaps Genus is longer than Cherry, but you just mentioned "Sex to Sexty". Wouldn't this mean the edit should stand (though for a different reason), as that one has more issues?

::I guess that's fair enough. I'd probably have clarified it to be "longest running in terms of time", except that according to this Sex to Sexty ran from 1969 - 1983, so it's not quite there yet. Of course, it could reasonably be the second-longest running such series, unless anyone else knows any particularly long-running adult comics? --GreenReaper 06:47, 6 February 2006 (UTC)

:::True, but Sex to Sexty isn't really a comic. It's a magazine which collected sexually explicit jokes and one-panel cartoon illustrations. Likewise, the only other adult anthology I can think of which achieved a higher issue number- Goodies, published by Jabberwocky Graphix- had issues #89-95 published in magazine format and all prior issues in fanzine or Tijuana-bible format- not in the common comic format. Unlike Sex to Sexty, however, Goodies contained comic stories.

Redneckgaijin: Removed "Comic to Add" link for Peter is the Wolf - comic now added.

The category of Comics includes webcomics, newspaper comics, printed comics, comic books, and graphic novels, because the lines between these categories can easily blur. You may enter comics here that are not explicitly furry, or intended for a furry audience - they just have to be of interest to furries, perhaps by including anthropomorphic characters.

I rather doubt that WikiFur has WikiWLP in its database yet, so I was a bit clumsy with links to entries there. The URL for WikiWLP itself is http://www.wlpcomics.com/wiki/ .
