deviantART is one of the largest online art galleries and discussion sites, with over 19 million registered members as of August, 2012. Many professional "anthro artists" submit their work there, as well as amateurs.

deviantART does not allow pornographic and sexually explicit or obscene material to be submitted; however, "tasteful" nudity is allowed, even as photographs.

deviantART and furry
As of August 2006, deviantART has a top-level anthro category, potentially exposing a greater proportion of the deviantART audience to anthropomorphic art.

Various "clubs" have been formed to connect the furry community on deviantART, similar to communities on LiveJournal. A handful of anthro-oriented chat rooms have also formed since August 2004.

Despite a big presence on deviantART, however, the growth of anthro and furry users (and their influence) is mediocre.fact However it should be noted the administrators are impartial towards furries,fact also the user agreement form disallows trolling and is strictly enforced, this has inadvertently benefited the furry community on deviantART greatly.fact

In August 2011, deviantART's staff initiated a discussion called When being human just isn't enough, about anthropomorphic art and the viewer's connection to it. There were over 2000 replies.

SheezyArt, also known as Sheezy, is an online art archive created by Channel Cat, and devoted to all types of art, including traditional, digital, photography, writing, pixel art, and Macromedia Flash.

No genre of art is excluded, though works containing explicitly sexual subject matter are forbidden.

As of May 31, 2013, the site is "temporarily closed to the public, while we prepare [...] a completely new site design, logo & branding, as well as a freshly minted technology platform". According to Facebook comments, user data will be preserved through the transition.

* Founder: Channel Cat
* Owners: Spencer, Thor
* Ran from/to: November 30, 2003 - May 31, 2013 (original version)

History
SheezyArt's visual template is based on the same used at the deviantART art gallery, and as so, allowing user commentary on artwork, journals, and user pages. SheezyArt, as deviantART, offers a set forums in which the community can gather.

Since the summer of 2005, SheezyArt has been down intermittently due to server problems. This has resulted in the site being $700 short on its server bills, which are usually paid by ad revenue; however, site members' donations have helped to pay the bill.fact

In April 22, 2006 Channel Cat announced that he would be relinquish the site's ownership to administrators Spencer and Thor.

SheezyArt and furry
In its original incarnation, SheezyArt permitted all content, including pornographic imagery, contrary to deviantART content restrictions rules. This made it a popular archive for adult art artists, including those in the furry fandom.

Restrictions on Flash animations on deviantART, specially those including copyrighted material, enticed some artist to move to SheezyArt. User "Sqeezy" (Tim Frommeyer) is credited with influencing these Flash animators to move to Sheezy.fact

January 2005 adult art ban
In January 2005, SheezyArt banned all adult material content on its archive, deleting all art and writing tagged as adult, citing a new server host's policy restrictions on said content.fact

However, many adult artists expressed disbelief at the administrators' explanation, believing the new policies to be unfair and unnecessary at best, a form of intentional persecution as worst. fact

As a result, some artists specializing in furry adult works left SheezyArt following the ban to such galleries as Fur Affinity and y!Gallery, both of which were believed to be both furry-friendly and all-inclusive (although the latter would ban anthro art in May 2006).

Mascot
SheezyArt's mascot was a raccoon named Dante until March 2007 when he was removed from all features of the site. Channel Cat officially stated that "we felt he didn't represent the artists well". A small community exists to preserve the memory of the former mascot.fact

Griefing and SheezyArt
Regarding trolling, SheezyArt has a tolerance for harmless trolling and, to some degree, encouraged.fact Argumentative and aggressive behavior is often seen and tolerated, but outright aggression and harassment is usually reprimanded.

Jazz Jackrabbit is the eponymous hero in a series of cartoonish run and gun games who used to be Epic Games' mascot. He was created by Cliff Blezinski and Arjan Brusee.

History
Jazz was thought up in late 1993. The original plan was to make him an astronaut, but by that time, the space theme was so overused in video games that it was decided something else should be done, so Jazz instead became a green rabbit.

Character
Jazz Jackrabbit is a 3'1", 90-pound anthropomorphic green rabbit. Strictly speaking, his surname, Jackrabbit, implies that he is a hare, but "hare" and "rabbit" are used interchangeably in the game. He comes from the planet Carrotus, and is a cross between Rambo and Bugs Bunny. He also has a red younger brother named Spaz, who seems to have a mental illness, and a lovely yellow older athletic sister named Lori. Together, they face the evil forces of Devan Shell, a nerdy, but vengefully sinister mad scientist turtle. Other than that, Jazz is in love with, and eventually marries the lovely Eva Earlong. His favorite food is carrot pizza, and his favorite book is Watership Down. His catchphrase is "When you're a little rabbit, carry a BIG GUN!". He carries a gun called the LFG-2000.

Jazz in other games
*Jazz, along with Eva and Devan, made a cameo in One Must Fall: 2097, which was developed by Diversions Entertainment and published by Epic Games, in single-player tournament mode. Each character piloted a fighting mech that was suited to their individual personalities.
*A crossover is also seen in Tyrian, which referred to their previous starship-piloting game Solar Winds, as well as a reference to OMF:2097.
*Jazz Jackrabbit has also appeared in a number of fan-made games.

Twokinds is a webcomic created by Tom Fischbach, following the adventures of Trace Legacy and his companions, Flora, Keith and Natani. The story focuses around a love interest between Trace and Flora, with side plots ranging from Keith and Natani's relationship to the internal and external obstacles that they all face on their travels together.

Twokinds won the 2010 Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Graphic Story.

As of February 2010, the comic is updating once a week, generally on a Wednesday.

Setting
The world of Twokinds is made up of at least three races : Humans, Keidran, and Basitin. The latter two races are "furry", with the Keidran having at least four clans based on different animals. Basitins are not based on any particular animal. The three races have various levels of animosity toward each other; most humans and Keidran have a good deal of contempt and hatred for the other race.

Other races, including normal animals and dragons, also exist.

spoiler
Humans
Humans often regard themselves as the highest of the races, as they believe themselves to be the least animalistic. They believe the Keidran to be nothing but animals, and thus feel no remorse when they enslave or slaughter them. The humans' government setup is merely a monarchy, which is very quickly being overtaken by the Templar.

The Templars
The Templar is an organization that used to simply be a mage's guild, but very quickly grew into the humans' military force, treasury, and, often times, the heads of towns and cities. This came about by the help of the tyrannical Grand Templar, Trace Legacy, who used the Keidran as a scapegoat to strengthen the Templar's forces and build up an empire within the Templar ranks. With the assassination of the human king by the Keidran wolf clan, full Templar control seems imminent.

Humans can harness mana straight from the environment and use it to cast spells; the Templar push this further with the construction of "Towers", large structures that store mana and enable Templars to cast spells with incredible power, one of the reasons to their success.

Keidran
The Keidran are an anthropomorphic, carnivorous race consisting of five (known) clans - tiger, wolf, cat, dog, and fox. The Keidran are related to their animal mostly in their look; not all of their real-life counterparts' features and habits apply (such as retractable claws).

They are not particularly modest about sexual habits, normally parading around without clothes and usually embrace the idea of casual sex. If their mate isn't around to have sex with them when they need it, they have no qualms with seeking satisfaction from another Keidran.

Female Keidran enter estrus ("heat") approximately five times a year, which is often used as comic relief during various parts of story. Despite common misconception among the other races, however, Keidran have the capacity to commit to one mate.

Tom used the Keidran to mimic the Native Americans, in that they live in tribes and were native to the continent and helped the humans survive through the winter, while the humans were the copy of the Europeans, as they were ungrateful and slaughtered the Keidran in the name of their misguided morals.

The Keidran reside on one part of the continent, away from the humans, though there is much warring on the boundary. The Keidran are at a disadvantage to the humans, however, as they can only harness mana from mana crystals, while the humans can harness mana straight from the Earth. The life of Keidran slaves largely depend on their masters' treatment.

Basitins
The Basitins are a warrior race that reside on the Basidian Islands, away from the mainland and largely forgotten by the humans and Keidrans. Their short, light brown fur is not meant for the cooler climate of the mainland. They seem to be impervious to most poisons, have a very high pain tolerance, and very rarely become ill.

The Basitin islands, split into a Eastern and a Western island, are enforced under strict rules and guidelines. Their children are forced into military training at a certain age, whether or not it is desired by the parents, and grow up to be very capable warriors. Decency, aside from military performance, is also a priority. Their feet must be covered while in public, as they are considered nude if not covered. The male and female Basitins also live apart on the island, the men living on the outside of the city and the women on the inside (although this tends not to be shown in the comic). Only one week in the year are the male and the female allowed to live together to have sex and seek offspring.

Basitins follow a similar judicial system to ours: trial by jury. The judicial system has been referred to "tough but fair". Their form of government is a monarchy as well, and their head is a king: for the Eastern Basitin island, that would be the female King Adelaide. Beneath the king are three generals: the intelligence general, the arms "musclehead" general, and the master general who is supposed to be a mix of brain and brawns (and who also happens to be Keith's old friend, Nickolai Alaric).

Despite the Basitins' military training, they are at a great disadvantage to the other two races due to their inability to wield magic. Their solution to this dilemma is to gain aid from the Templars, who trick the Basitin into using magic which ultimately destroys their minds upon use. In a flashback when Trace is remembering his past, this plan to destroy the Basitins' minds seem to be his idea. The Templars cleverly understood that the Basitins' law system would take too long to acknowledge the fact that magic destroys them, and thus set their plan forward confident that it would not fail. With Trace having killed the Master Architect, it seems that their plan wasn't as foolproof as they had previously thought.

Kickstarter drive
With the advent of volume 2 of the Twokinds series, and the republishing of volume 1, Thomas Fischbach turned to Kickstarter to cover printing costs, color, quantity and a selection of sizes.

Funding
The initial goal was $25,000 over a period of thirty days, but that goal was reached within 12 hours. With the promise of bonus material, extra sizes, and a personal one-to-one meeting at San Diego Comic Con with the author at the Keenspot booth, the funding was extended to $55,555, which was promptly surpassed again. With the promise of additional perks, the goal amount was moved to $100,000, which has since also been surpassed.
Rewards (normal funding)
Along with the books, extra materials include several different never-before-seen posters, a printed map of the world, and a couple of side-comics, one titled Feral Hunger and the other Prank Pixie Panic.

Each book has three different editions, which are referred to as the Manga Edition (glossy color, softcover), Special Edition (glossy color, softcover, bigger than the Manga Edition), and Premium Edition (glossy color, hardcover, same size as the Special Edition).

Extra rewards (over funding)
With over funding, production will be doubled on all issues, along with non-specified bonus material. In addition, if the goal of $100,000 would be achieved, the posting scheduled of the comic would be upped from one comic a week to two.

$100,000 milestone
On May 16, 2012, TwoKinds became the fastest, and most expensive, furry media project of any kind to be funded in the history of the furry fandom, garnering $100,000+. This was achieved within one week after the prior set milestone of $55,555. The project has as of May 27, 2012, 11 days left on the official deadline.

New deadlines and rewards
On May 18, 2012, two new deadlines with incentives were implemented on the projects page:

*$123,456 Goal: Wallpaper Pack (reached May 22, 2012). If reached, everyone who pledged would receive a downloadable wallpaper pack. This pack would include wallpaper versions of the "Tiger in the Stars" poster, Cast poster, and Book One cover in a variety of sizes and screen ratios, including cellphone resolutions. This pack would be sent via email sometime after the Kickstarter ends to anyone who participated, regardless of pledge amount.
*$135,000 Goal: Live Streaming event for backers (reached May 26, 2012). If reached, there would be an exclusive live streaming event for all backers who would take place over the course of two days during a weekend, for several hours per day, during which the artist may even take requests. The end result will be put together into a collage and uploaded to Thomas Fischbach's deviantART account for viewing.

Last deadline and reward
On May 27, 2012, the final deadline, and reward, was set with 11 days to go:

*$150,000 Goal: Full Hardcover Run (reached May 30, 2012). If reached, all hardcover books would be ordered in bulk in the same way the mangas will be.

$175,000 milestone
* $175,000 Goal: Secret reward (reached june 6, 2012). Although posted on the same day as the $150.000 notice, there was no information provided for this milestone reward. The reward has since been revealed to be plushies, based of the characters.

Fursecution

2014-03-03T22:52:14Z

ReaperBot: r2.7.2) (Robot: Adding hu:Fursecution

Fursecution is a portmanteau word coined in the late 1990s that has come to mean the perceived persecution of furries by elements outside the fandom, and often derisively, to suggest overreaction to criticism.

Fursecution's meaning
A greatly debated subject, with some claiming it to be a legitimate form of discrimination, while others find it a severe overreaction, this term may have originated from the mockery generated by sites like Something Awful, which is often targeted at the furry fandom. The primary reason for these disagreements is the fact that the term is applied to situations both serious and trivial, predominantly the latter.

It has been suggested that this word was conceived by members of Crush Yiff Destroy, but use of the term was documented in Usenet posts as far back as 1998.

Term "validity"
It can be argued that a large amount of the perceived "fursecution" could be due to certain people's oversensitivity to criticism about the furry fandom (such as claims that many furries are homosexual or bisexual, or furs are in just for the sexual aspects of the culture.) Encyclopædia Dramatica, which pokes fun at various internet phenomena, including furries, says, "Furries suffer from an acute victim complex. This makes them very easy to torment."

In other words, while any group that is at least relatively well-known will inevitably draw criticism or mockery, the (oversensitive) reaction (or overreaction) by some individuals to such attacks is what they would claim qualifies as being "Fursecuted."

Anti-furry "fursecution"
By 2005, anti-furry groups or people had added alternative meanings to the word:

* Either as it being one signifying an actual "attack" by anti-furry elements on a furry person, group or site for the sole purpose to, hopefully, generate furry drama.

* Or, as a mocking term towards a furry person, group or site when a situation or event is unfavorable or detrimental towards them.

Blotch, aka screwbald (derived from "skewbald" and "screwball"), is the alias of the collaborative works between the artists Kenket and BlackTeagan, one sketching and the other painting.

The Blotch team have been officially working together since August 2006. Together they have contributed artwork to the multi-artist calendar Wish You Were Here, as well as the Werewolf Calendar for 2012, many Sofawolf Press publications, such as Heat, New Fables, cover and interior illustrations for Kyell Gold's novels Out of Position and Isolation Play, and several cards for the Wild Cat Card Deck and the Endangered Ark, among other projects.

Blotch also created Dog's Days of Summer, an interactive webcomic that ran through Summer 2007, and was printed by Sofawolf Press in Summer 2008. is a relatively tight-fitting band, in the furry fandom usually made of fur, metal, leather, or nylon, that is worn and secured around the neck. It is a common accessory in the furry community.

A collar may be worn from reasons ranging from the solely decorative, through association with a spirit animal fursona for example, to a deep and public signifier of a committed relationship. This latter status may also indicate ownership or dominant/submissive status associated with a BDSM or power exchange relationship.

History of collars and anthropomorphism
Anthropomorphic animals wearing collars date back at least 3,000 years. An early example is Anubis, a dog/jackal with powers related to the underworld. Despite being an animal that walks on two legs, and by no means a pet, Anubis is portrayed as wearing a gold collar as shown.

His most common form is a crouching desert dog/jackal with his ears pricked up and tail hanging, wearing a collar of magical force. The dog’s black coar is symbolic of the discoloration of the corpse after its treatment during the mummification process. To prevent animals from scavenging on the corpses of the dead in the shallow graves of the late Predynastic period, Anubis in his canine manifestation was taken as a protector of the dead, with his collar providing magic and strength.

Collars were also used with farm and pet animals in ancient Mediterranean cultures for marking farm animals. By the peak of ancient Egyptian civilization, collaring and leashing was standard in dog training, and collars by themselves had been in used since the pre-dynastic era. The cat and dog collars of the day were oftentimes works of art in themselves.

Current social significance
Collars have varying degrees of significance in the furry community, from mere decoration to the statement of ownership and a committed relationship.

In the simplest form, collars are a furry accessory, worn with or without other furry clothing, fursuits, or gear. Many furs will wear collars at furry gatherings as a sign of their participation in the fandom or as an indicator of their fursona animal, and remove them when in the presence of mundanes (non-furs), such as when at work or with family.

Receiving a collar holds special significance in the fandom, and is usually not done frivolously. The presentation of a collar bears equal significance to the presentation of pins or rings in the non-furry world. It can signify that a relationship is committed (whether open or closed), in which case the collaring is often mutual. In can also signify ownership, as a pet or submissive mate, in power or BDSM play (see BDSM -- collar, link to be added).

In the relationship sense of use, wearing a collar is a signal to others that the fur is "owned" or is in a relationship, and that the wearer has been formally collared. It may also be a potently tangible symbol of the relationship itself. A locking collar, which may be physically long enough to be removed, is usually a statement that the collar is NOT to be removed by the wearer without permission of the giver, who often holds the key. This is often a way for furries who are apart to maintain a physical measure of their commitment or relationship.

Appearance
Collars can be light and weighty only in significance, to locked, uncomfortable, sharp, and heavy in physical form. Increasingly couples may adopt collars that can be mistaken as ordinary non-furry necklaces or jewelry, which then can be worn discreetly in public. Such items are often referred to as everyday collars.

Collars are often used as accessories with fursuits, as shown in the image at the top of this page.

Collars common are found in furry art, both as decoration and as symbols of dominance/submission.

Collars often have places to which leads/leashes can be attached. While this can be common among furfriends, the potential for misunderstandings from the non-furry community has led to rules that you must not be led on a leash in public at furry conventions (the so-called "hold your own leash" rules). This rule is illustrated in the image at the top of this article.

Foxtaur

Foxtaurs are fictitious fantasy liminal beings, composed of the upper torso of an anthropomorphic fox, attached to the withers of a full bodied, feral fox.

The principle of the anatomy composition are the same as with centaurs, the main difference is the exact biological traits and organ compositions of a single species, (Vulpes Vulpes), in both halves.

History and origin
Foxtaurs are thought to originate from the Fuxes of Medea: Harlan's World,fact a compendium of shared-world science fiction tales published in 1985, collecting material previously published in various SF periodicals between 1978 and 1984.

The shared-world project was led by Harlan Ellison, with Larry Niven developing the biology of the species (including fuxes), depicted therein.

Foxtaurs and furry
Foxtaurs are one of the most traditional taur variants within the furry fandom.fact

Furry foxtaur species
Garetta
Garettas (created by Roy D. Pounds II), are a genetically engineered foxtaur species based on grey foxes, created to replace human colonists stricken by a fatal epidemic. Their purpose was to explore and terraform the world of Tanador in preparation for the humans. These have never come, and instead the Garetta, a name corrupted from the name of the colony ship, the Greta Lyn, came to make the world their home.

Garetta technology has degenerated into a mixture of old artifacts and mysticism. They have divided into tribes that originated from their specialties: Comm-Sa, Seccu, Navvi, Teccu, Eengi, and the Aireal tribes.

Kendarii
Kendarii (created by Michael Higgs), are genetic constructs, created to take the place of the doomed human race after biological warfare in the late 22nd century caused sterility in all humans.

Kendarii are roughly fox sized, typically standing 2½ feet (0.76 m) tall and weighing 90 pounds (41 kg). Lungs and the primary stomach are in the upper torso. Heart, liver, kidneys, a secondary stomach and intestines are in the lower torso. They lack a navel. Their eyes are slitted like a fox and whiskers are present. Kendarii retain their canine teeth, and due to their dual stomach system can digest small bones, hair and feathers. They have five-fingered hands with non-retractile claws.

They bear no more than two "kittens" at a time, and gestate for five months. They are physically mature at age thirteen, and live about fifty years. Breasts are located on the upper torso, with the nipples buried under the pelt.

Keshant
Keshantii (singular Keshant; created by ?), are a alien species of horse-sized foxtaurs. Their resemblance to terrestrial red foxes may possibly be a result of "seeding" by unknown agency in the distant past.

Their homeworld is isolated and highly agrarian, with only a single, little-trafficked off-world trade port.

Ursa Major Awards

2013-10-20T16:23:25Z

ReaperBot: r2.7.2) (Robot: Removing it:Usra Major Awards

LinkingSupporter

The Annual Anthropomorphic Literature & Arts Awards, primarily advertised as the Ursa Major Awards, are intended to be the furry fandom award for outstanding achievement in anthropomorphic and furry arts, equivalent to the science fiction fandom's Hugo Awards. The awards were first presented in 2001 at 12. Due to the early misconception that the Awards were intended for the ConFurence alone, in 2003 it was decided that the awards would be presented at as many furry conventions as possible. To that end, the UMA's were presented at C-ACE in 2004, at Anthrocon 2005, at Rocket City FurMeet 2006, at Califur in 2007, at Morphicon in 2008, at All Fur Fun 2009, at FA: United 2010 and at Morphicon in 2011.

The UMA's were originally administered by The ConFurence Group. In 2003, administration was passed to the Anthropomorphic Literature and Arts Association (ALAA), which expanded to include representatives from many popular conventions over the course of 2007.

The UMA trophy consists of a framed certificate containing an illustration of the award logo designed by Heather Bruton, with the name of the winner. A plaque has also been awarded on occasion.
2008 Ursa Major Award voting open
In 2012 the ALAA's Choice Award was introduced to recognize any "outstanding anthropomorphic work". While not considered an Ursa Major Award, as it is voted directly by ALAA members, it is presented concurrently with them.

Nomination process
At the beginning of each year nominations for each category are solicited for works published/released in the previous year, and may be made either electronically via the website or email, or by postal mail. Those who wish to vote for the awards must register at this time and receive their ballot number. At the end of the nominating period, the submissions are tabulated and the works receiving the highest number of submissions (usually the top 5, though ties or the like may mandate a few more or less) become the nominees for the year's Ursa Major Awards. Registered voters may then vote. Note that any furry who wishes may register to vote for Ursa Major Awards - this is meant as a fandom-wide award.

Nominations for the 2006 Awards began on 18 January 2007, and continued until 28 February. Voting took place from 10 March until 14 April. The 2006 winners were announced on 4 May 2007 at Califur 3. Nominations for the 2007 Awards began on 24 January 2008, the first day of Further Confusion 2008. The 2007 winners were announced at Morphicon on 17 May 2008. The 2008 winners were announced at All Fur Fun 15-17 May 2009. The 2009 winners were announced at FA: United on 30 May 2010.

Nominations for the 2010 Awards began on 30 January 2011, and will continue until 28 February. Voting will be from 13 March to 17 April.

Categories
The Ursa Major Award categories have changed and evolved somewhat since their inception. Since the year 2005, the categories are:
* Best Anthropomorphic Motion Picture
* Best Anthropomorphic Dramatic Short Work or Series
* Best Anthropomorphic Novel
* Best Anthropomorphic Short Fiction
* Best Anthropomorphic Other Literary Work
* Best Anthropomorphic Comic Book
* Best Anthropomorphic Comic Strip
* Best Anthropomorphic Fanzine
* Best Anthropomorphic Published Illustration
* Best Anthropomorphic Game
* Best Anthropomorphic Miscellany (new in 2006)
* Recommended/Best Website (new in 2011)

New categories such as fursuits (also covered by the Fandom's Favorite Fursuit Fracas) and websites are occasionally considered.

Eligibility
From the UMA website: To be eligible, a work must have been released between January 1 and December 31 of the calendar year for that award, and must include a non-human being given human attributes (anthropomorphic), which can be mental and/or physical (for example the intelligent rabbits in Watership Down for the former, and Bugs Bunny for the latter.) Simply including an animal character is not sufficient to qualify.

Starting in 2009 further restrictions were set in place that nominations cannot be "obscene, libelous, or otherwise detrimental to the integrity and good standing of the Ursa Major Awards and the anthropomorphics fandom." This definition includes "works of a predominantly sexual nature, or which include explicit sexual situations involving characters which may be underage or non-anthropomorphic animals." This was perceived as being in response to 2008s nomination of two controversial works - Softpaw Magazine #3-4 and its spinoff Finding Avalon for Best Magazine and Best Comic Book - which are considered as "cub porn."

Balto is a 1995 animated film loosely based on the true story of a courageous wolfdog who saved the town of Nome, Alaska from the diphtheria epidemic of 1925. He leads a dog team on a 600-mile (in real life, Balto, a fullbred Siberian Husky, only traveled 53 miles) trip across the Alaskan wilderness to get medical supplies. The film is based on a true story which inspired the Iditarod dog sled race. It was executive produced by Steven Spielberg, directed by Simon Wells, and soundtrack produced by James Horner. It featured the voice talents of Kevin Bacon, Bridget Fonda, Bob Hoskins and Phil Collins.

Balto was the final animated feature produced by Steven Spielberg's Amblimation animation studio.

There were two direct-to-video sequels: Balto II: Wolf Quest (2002), and Balto III: Wings of Change (2005).

Balto and Furries
Balto provided inspiration for a few multiplayer worlds, such as Arctic Thunder MUCK, Crossroads MUCK, BaltoMUCK, and Northern Lights MUCK. While all of these MUCKs are now defunct, Balto still continues to enjoy cult film status amongst many furries and has inspired many wolf characters, husky characters and the combination thereof.

Trivia
The real life Balto wasn't a hybrid at all; he was a purebred husky.

My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic (sometimes abbreviated MLP:FiM) is an animated television series adapted for television by Lauren Faust, based on the Hasbro toy franchise. Sometimes referred to as the "Fourth Generation" My Little Pony, the show is considered much better produced than any of the earlier television series and has proven to be popular among a large cross-section of viewers, including but not limited to furry fans. It has become the subject of a large volume of fanfiction, fan art, and websites.

The first episode aired on The Hub on October 10, 2010 as one of the channel's flagship shows; season two premiered on September 17, 2011. Season 3 premiered on November 10, 2012.

Plot
The show follows the character of Twilight Sparkle, a unicorn and star pupil of Princess Celestia after displaying an unusual talent for magic at a young age. When Twilight becomes preoccupied with her studies and paranoid about the impending return of the evil Nightmare Moon, the princess sends her and her assistant Spike to Ponyville to make some friends.

Twilight and her friends come to represent the Elements of Harmony, an extreme magical force that is used to defeat Nightmare Moon. Following Nightmare Moon's defeat, Twilight is told to stay in Ponyville and send reports to Celestia about the magic of friendship. As of the season two episode "Lesson Zero", all of the main characters are tasked with reporting to Princess Celestia when, and only when, they learn a valuable lesson in friendship.

The show follows the slice-of-life genre, with each episode usually revolving around a problem and it being solved through an application of friendship, tolerance, or other attribute that makes up the "moral" of the story. Episodes usually end with a letter to Princess Celestia, detailing how the preceding events have bettered the characters.

Characters
Bronies
My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic has found a strong following among adults and older teens, despite the target audience being young girls. It has been well received for cleverly embedded double-entendre humor, original yet classical plot, pop cultural references, and modern visuals.

A male fan of the show is known as a "brony," a portmanteau of the words "bro" and "pony". Some female fans prefer to be known as "pegasisters", a portmanteau of "pegasus" and "sister".

The creators of the show have reciprocated the feelings of the fandom, referencing bronies in the Equestria Girls promo and even marketing directly to the adult demographic. Probably the most significant call out came in the canonisation of the character Derpy Hooves, whose name and personality was collectively created by the fandom. Other fan names have become canon outside of the TV show such as the name Lyra being adopted in the toy line. Derpy - along with other fan favourites Doctor Whooves, Octavia, Carrot Top, Berry Punch, Colgate, Vinyl Scratch/DJ Pon-3, Lyra and Bon-Bon - appeared on the poster distributed at Comic Con 2011.

The brony fandom has seen significant cross contamination with the furry fandom, as the show heavily features anthropomorphic animals of various species. The brony fandom similarly features a large creative output of art, writing, costuming, animation and music along with websites dedicated to showcasing them. Gatherings similar to furmeets and conventions have also become commonplace around the world. Many bronies will also make ponysonas, similar to the fursonas of furry fandom.

The brony fandom has another parallel with the furry fandom in its fandom-specific terms (akin to the furspeech of the furry fandom); words include "anypony" (anybody), "fillies and gentlecolts" (ladies and gentlemen), and "brohoof" (bro-fist), while "clop" is a fan-derived term akin to yiff for similar use.

Fursuits are animal costumes associated with the furry fandom. They range from simple tails and ears to full costumes cooled by battery-powered fans. Similar to mascot suits, they allow the wearer to adopt another personality while in costume. Owners (also known as fursuiters) can spend less than one-hundred to many thousands of dollars on one fursuit, depending on the complexity of the design and on the materials used. These items are frequently sold at conventions, or online by either commission or auction. Many furry fans make their own using online tutorials and/or advice from newsgroups.

The term fursuit (coined in 1993 by Robert King) can also refer to animal mascot costumes in general, as opposed to human or inanimate object mascots. The act of wearing a fursuit is usually referred to as fursuiting.

History
Fursuiting as a permanent feature and practice within the fandom likely dates to the pre-convention era (1984-1989), when the first furry parties were being organized at both sci-fi conventions and home furmeets. By Confurence 0 in 1989 (the first hotel-based furry convention), a programming track called "Furry Costuming" was held at the hotel at which it took place.'

Many have commented on the sea change which occurred in the growing fandom when graphic artists, many of whom were native to the funny animal fandom era, shared more attention with costumers, resulting in the artists' booths being overshadowed by the presence of costumers at conventions and furry parties.

Types of fursuits
The standard fursuit is a full body costume that consists of a head, forepaws (hands), hind paws (feet) and a body with an attached tail; in some cases, the tail is connected via a belt to the wearer and hangs out through a hole in the back of the body. Many suits include special padding or under suits to give the character its desired shape (this is especially present in larger characters or those of a particular gender.)

A partial suit or half-suit contains the above, only without the body. This allows the wearer to don ordinary clothing (or a different costume) overtop of the paws, head and tail. In partial suits, the tail is usually attached to a belt, and the arms and legs have sleeves that can go up as far as the shoulders and pelvis, respectively.

Most recently, a third type known as the three-quarter suit has been developed, which consists of a head, arms and pants made to look like the legs, tail and feet of the animal in question, which works well for characters who only wear shirts.

Styles
Just like artwork, fursuits can vary in style, from the ultra-cartoony look, to the hyper-realistic. Now that fursuiting is becoming popular in Japan, we are beginning to see some very anime-style fursuits in that country.

Reasons for fursuiting
A person who wears a fursuit generally falls into one or more of five categories.

Job or charity work
Many furry fans wear fursuits as a job or to bring attention to an event or charity. This can include mascots, though not all mascots are fursuits, nor are all mascot performers furries. Many fursuiters are hired through an agency to represent a character, while others bring their own constructions to an event instead. There are also several volunteer fursuiting groups across North America that either ask or are asked to entertain at various social functions. Some groups even set up their own charitable events or perform on the streets to passersby.

Conventions, parades, exhibitions
[[File:FursuitDancersAC2006.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Fursuit dancers at Anthrocon 2006 — video by BBF: 1 2 3 ]]
Other furries enjoy wearing their suits for parades, exhibitions, or conventions. Oftentimes these are of a personal character who they are expressing as a form of role play. The fursuiter may consider themselves to be expressing who they really are. These fursuiters may also wear their suits to small, informal meetings among furry fans in their area. Some may get permission to perform in or outside of a shop or event, while others may simply wear a suit in a major area, such as a mall. However, some public areas have no-mask laws, so individuals seeking to wear their fursuit in large, public places should check first if it's allowed before performing at that location.

Role-playing
Some LARPers create highly elaborate costumes (including fursuits) for their characters. Half-suits are usually created for role-playing games, though some LARPers use full-body suits. These suits wear elaborate clothes and costumes of their own, depending on the theme of the game.

Sexuality
A small portion of the furry fandom considers a fursuit a sexual item. Some suits may contain elaborately designed sexual features, while some wearers simply snip a hole or two out themselves. The music video for "Beautiful" by Moby revolves around a swinger house party where all the participants are dressed up in fursuits, though this is likely to be intended as a metaphor rather than a statement about the furry fandom. It is a common public misconception that all fursuiters use fursuiting for sex.

Spirituality
Some people (usually otherkin,therianthropes, or furry lifestylers) also fursuit for reasons of expressing what they feel is their inner animal self. Most of them try to make their suits as realistic and lifelike as possible.fact

Construction
Construction of fursuits

Maintenance
Some fursuiters spray their costumes with Febreeze, Endbac, Lysol, or a generic antibacterial spray after each use. Usually fursuiters select a product that will kill bacteria, rather than just mask odors. During storage, the fursuiter may keep it stored with a fabric softener sheet, or a box of baking soda like the ones used in a fridge or freezer.

The fursuit is regularly brushed. Fursuiters usually try to brush the fur in such a way that it doesn't pull on the fur backing, as not to weaken it.

When it comes time to wash the suit, fursuiters consider each part individually. If foam is soaked in water, it may not dry quickly enough and start to grow bacteria or fungus before it does. Airbrushed patterns may fade if washed. Glue used to hold parts of the suit together may weaken if washed. Leather is usually not advisable to soak in water. If the suit has any electronics, those may be damaged by water. If wire or plastic canvas gives part of the suit its shape, it may not be advisable to soak that part, or at least not to machine-wash it.

The parts that will not be washed can usually be wiped with a damp cloth. Stains may be removable with a product like Bubble Gund.

The parts that will be washed can either be machine washed or hand-washed. Usually the fursuit is turned inside-out and zipped up to avoid extra stress to the fur. No heat is used during the process as this can shrivel the fur. For detergent some will use a regular laundry detergent, while some may use a special detergent like Woolite. Putting undiluted detergent directly onto the fur may cause fading, so fursuiters try to avoid this except for treating stains. For machine-washing, the fursuiter chooses one of the more delicate cycles. For hand-washing, the fursuiter tries not to stretch the backing, and not to squeeze the fur into an alignment other than its natural lying flat state.

After the suit is washed, it is then dried. The fursuiter may fluff it up in the dryer in an air-only cycle. No heat is used in any step. Usually the fursuiter does not dry it completely, but takes it out and brushes it periodically until it is completely dry. Since waterlogged fur is heavy, the fursuiter may go to some lengths to lay it out flat while drying, so it doesn't stretch from the extra weight. Fans may be used to accelerate the drying process.

Fursuiters are divided over whether dry cleaning is advisable for fursuits. Since dry-cleaners can choose from many different methods and settings, and there are many types of fur, it is likely that one answer does not apply to all situations.

Performance
A key part of playing a character in suit is an engaging performance. The most expensive fursuit in the world will not help someone who does not know how to use it. Looking good is important, but not as important as acting.

How the performer acts in costume reflects on how others relate to them. If the desired character is bouncy and bubbly, then acting that way is required to communicate it to spectators.

The design of the suit plays a part in some of the moves that can be done. For example, some fursuiters with floppy muzzles nod their heads up and down rapidly to simulate laughter or enjoyment. This cannot be done with suits with a rigid muzzle, or no muzzle at all.

Body language
Fursuiters typically do not speak in costume. This may be for a variety of reasons:
* To preserve the anonymity or conceal the gender of the performer
* The design of most suits muffles the voice of the performer
* Most animals don't talk
Because of this, acting in suit is mostly about body language.

When a fursuiter does speak in costume, it is often just to their handler and/or close friends. Alternately, fursuiters may only speak in some limited fashion, either with a limited vocabulary, or simply using as few words as necessary.

Increasingly, more elaborate fursuits are being built with some form of "talkjaw". This typically involves the fursuit's lower jaw being attached to the fursuiter's chin (likely with an elastic strap around the fursuiter's head), or pressed against by the fursuiter's lower jaw in some other fashion. This enables the fursuiter to talk, without giving the impression of "thinking out loud" as in Garfield (traditional animation).

"Furzooter"
The Year of the Flood, a 2009 novel by Margaret Atwood, includes the passage:

A furmeet is a relatively small real-life gathering of furries. Furmeets may be sporadically scheduled or regular events. A furmeet may range in size, from a small group to dozens. When a furmeet attracts more than approximately 100 attendees, and starts to add features such as organized programming and the sale of goods, it begins to be considered a convention.

At furmeets, attendees will often have dinner, watch movies (both furry and non-furry related), play roleplaying games or video games, or draw. Sometimes a furmeet is as casual as simply getting together to talk and have a few drinks at a local bar or pub. Furmeets can be a fun way to meet other furs and make new friends, get to know local furs, and generally have fun.

I.C.Q. is a furry webcomic by quoting_mungo and Veritas. It's a mature slice-of-life comic, centered around three roommates in a fictional college town. The comic was released on August 1 2010 after more than half a year of periodically having supplemental character art and other extra material released in its LiveJournal community. The comic's title was formed from the initials of the main characters' species, as well as selected for its phonetical reading.

Main characters
* Sarah Woolf - a sheltered and sometimes naïve impala with rabbit blood.
* Toni Squire - a short calico cat, the oldest of the roommates and the only one who isn't going to college.
* Blake Masterson - a quagga who hates nothing more than being called a zebra.

Eurofurence
Eurofurence (commonly also EF), is the biggest European furry convention outside the United States and the longest-running furry convention in the world. It was founded in 1995, and Eurofurence 17 in Magdeburg, Sachsen-Anhalt, Germany had 1066 attendees.fact

It is typically held in summer and located in various places of Germany, but it has seen other countries as well, notably Sweden, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic. Eurofurence 12 was held at the same venue as the Eurofurence 11, and Eurofurence 15 marked a return to the Ringberg Hotel in Suhl, Thuringia for the third and final year in succession. Since Eurofurence 16 in 2010, the convention has been held at the Maritim Hotel in Magdeburg, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany.

Eurofurence and the Mephit Mini Con share some lighting equipment and art panels for the sake of economy, but are not officially related.

Programming
Since Eurofurence 12, Eurofurence has run five days from Wednesday to Sunday. Early arrival and late departure options are offered for those who want to stay another night or two. There are several main events that are held every year, often on the same day and time each year.

The convention traditionally begins with a barbecue held outside on the convention premises. During this barbecue the convention is then officially opened in an opening ceremony hosted by Cheetah, where the attendees are introduced to the staff. In the opening ceremony, the main events of the convention are announced, along with other important points such as rules of conduct and other safety notices.

On one evening, Uncle Kage and 2, The Ranting Gryphon get together to present Uncle Kage vs. 2. It is a combination of Uncle Kage's Story Hour and a comedy performance by 2, either performed in sequence or with each taking turns. At Eurofurence 17, 2 could not attend, so the event was changed to only a story hour for that year. Kage "compensated" for that by doing impressions of 2 on stage.

The pawpet show is usually the closing event of Eurofurence, in the absence of a real closing ceremony. It is a furry handpuppet performance, written, produced and performed by a mixed crew of Eurofurence staff and attendees. It is written as a feature-length stage show, mixing comedy and drama, with music, added sound effects, spcial effects and more recently also prerecorded video footage inserted between the scenes. The Big Blue Dance follows the pawpet show and is the last event of the convention. It is a dance event held in the main dance hall by BigBlueFox and other DJs, and often continues throughout the night. Light effects, live mixed background animations and other atmospheric effects are also present.

On the final (departure) day of the convention, a Dead Dog Party is held for those who want to relax and wind down while preventing post-con depression. In earlier years, a group photo of all those attending the convention was taken on Sunday morning. However, it was moved to Saturday morning as many congoers were not able to get out of bed so early after the Big Blue Dance the previous night. It also posed problems for people wanting to depart early in the morning, who had to miss the photo.

Art and merchandise
For the duration of the con, the dealer's den is available for attendees to sell merchandise of varying sorts. Since Eurofurence 17, two dealer's dens have been available, as the single one could no longer handle the demand.

There is also an art show, where attendees can look around for art and perhaps make bids for pieces they would like. About half-way through the convention, the art show is closed and the art auction is held to sell the pieces to the highest bidders. The auction is conducted by Uncle Kage.

Fursuiting
There are several events and other facilities for fursuiters. There is always a headless lounge available, which is an area that only fursuiters can enter where they can freely un-suit and relax. The lounge is normally full of fans and other cooling equipment to help the fursuiters cool off. During most of the convention there is also a fursuit photoshoot, where fursuiters can have pictures of their fursuits taken by a professional photographer.

On the main stage, the fursuit gameshow is held, in which teams in fursuits compete in several challenges. The challenges are often made with the difficulties of wearing a fursuit in mind, but sometimes they take advantage of this to provide a challenge unique to fursuiters, such as balancing objects on one's muzzle.

Finally, a fursuit group photo is traditionally taken on Saturday, followed by the fursuit parade which fursuiters and non-fursuiters alike are invited to participate in. Since fursuit attendance has been steadily rising over the years (reaching 400 in 2011), the parade is now held entirely outside, and in Eurofurence 17 the parade took place in the city streets of Magdeburg.

EF Prime
EF Prime is a tv channel which broadcasts an information and entertainment during Eurofurence on the internal hotel TV system. It launched in 2007 during EF 13, and airs information about EF-related events and hotel facilities. In between, it shows furry and furry-related shorts, clips and shows as well as clips that aren't furry related, yet popular among the fandom.

At EF 17, EF Prime got its own mascot, a computer generated wolf named Spikey Wolf. He was introduced in a video parody of Eminem's "My name is" and is voiced by Shay. Spikey highlighted the days timetable on EF prime on daily base and also provided in numerous quotes during live events.

Responsible for EF Prime are:
* BigBlueFox (program schedule, content management, on-air design)
* Kralle (IT-planning, hardware, software)

Daily Eurofurence
The Daily Eurofurence is a newspaper published during Eurofurence, reporting all kinds of events on the prior day. The 'newspaper' consists of various articles, some cartoons, an occasional cross-word puzzle and the updated time-table for the convention.

Themes
Eurofurence 8 was the first Eurofurence convention to have a specific theme. The theme is represented in the art and signs displayed in public and in some events such as the pawpet show. There are also often events specific to the theme, such as at Eurofurence 17 which had a Tai Chi panel and a martial arts performance to go with its Chinese theme.

Organization
Eurofurence 1 was first organized in 1995 by Tes-Tui-H'ar and unci, neither of whom are now involved with running the convention. In 1997, Sven "Cheetah" Tegethoff, took over as convention chairman of Eurofurence 3 and has chaired nearly every Eurofurence since then. Eurofurence 4 was organized and financed by Samarindus, who found a location for the 1998 convention in the Netherlands with the help of Naros.

Later in 1998, Eurofurence e.V. was registered as a social organization in Germany to operate the convention annually from Eurofurence 5 in 1999 to the present day. However, it is not limited to any specific location, and has many international members among its staff and members. Since 2009, Eurofurence e.V. has their own flags, banners and posters with the logo.

Current staff
For Eurofurence 13 (2007), the core members of convention staff, and their areas of responsibility, were as follows:

* Cheetah — Chairman, Programming Director
* Nightfox — Vice Chairman, Consite Relations
* Loewi — Chief Financial Officer
* BigBlueFox — Web Design, Director Video and Hotel TV
* AkiRaccoon — Lead Gopher
* Cairyn — Director Art Show, Con Book Editor
* Gyroplast — Director Dealers' Den
* EosFoxx — Guest of Honour Relations
* Jaryic — Lead Stage Crew
* Jumpy — Lead Registration Team
* Mystifur — Lead Fursuit Support
* o'wolf — Media Relations
* Riffuchs — Lead Onsite Logistics
* Gyroplast — Director Security
* Tigerseye — Vice Lead Fursuit Support

Whilst these are the "key" members of staff, there are many more volunteers helping to make the convention a success by doing such tasks as leading events, setting up the stage and art show, teardown and pretty much anything else that needs doing.

FeralHeart is a 3D RPG featuring non-morphic canine and feline characters. It was created by KovuLKD and its server is hosted by Razmirz, after the closing of Impressive Title, and released in late January 2011. Wings and many marking choices have been added in the recent years.
Map-making, object-making, preset-making, and even the ability to create your own sky. This game is loaded with features.
You can go out into the maps already made-- Bonfire Island, Ficho Tunnel, Fluorite Plains, Temple Of Dreams, Cape of Distant Worlds, Lonely Cave, South Pole, Atlantis, Lost Cave, Ascension Island, and the newest: Sky's Rim. You can also make your own but there is a limit of reachable maps in Cape. But, unlike Impressive Title, there are no animals to hunt that drop items. Instead, you can download item packs from the forum.

Map-making
Feral-Heart features an easy map-making function where you can add hills to your map by making a 'Terrain Height Map' in GIMP, Photoshop, Paint.NET, Anything but MS Paint. These images are Grey-scale, black indicates the low, valleys or rivers, and white indicates the highest, like hills or mountains. You can make anything you desire here: party maps, Warrior cats themed maps, holiday maps...

You can add water, load height-maps and terrain masks, change the size and height of the map, and even add a custom map from the sky maker into your map by going to 'World' tab of the map-maker!

In the 'Objects' tab, you are able to add objects from different groups, 'Gates', which are portals to other maps, and custom water.

In the Controls tab, you can change the size, shape, length, width, and rotation.

Object making
With the default objects, you can do a lot. Just load the .mesh file, and you can change anything you wish to, even the texture! You can add multiple meshes to one object and rotate them any way you please. With the effect maker, you can even add particles!

Sky making
Users are able to make custom skies for their maps. You can make your maps rain, snow, and more! Using particle files, you can make the weather particles, and even color your sky at different times!

Preset making
Users are able to create their own presets, by setting their own lion textures in the files. (Example: C:/FeralHeart/Presets/Preset3. You would place the textures in there) Its quite complicated and requires some editing of .material files, but no worries! These can be opened in notepad.

Movie maker
This will be edited when this feature is finished! Currently, When you select movie maker from 'Tools' It says Coming Soon!

Pepé Le Pew is an anthropomorphic skunk and considered by some to be a furry sex icon. Created in 1945 by Chuck Jones, Pepé is an overamorous fellow who is always looking for love, despite his odor and his aggressive habits. He is particularly interested in Penelope Pussycat, a cat who accidentally gets painted like a skunkette. Pepé's foul odor and intrusive, aggressive seduction attempts are both traits that many Americans associate to a degree with stereotypical French men.
Pepé won an Academy Award for For Scent-imental Reasons (1949).
Most skunk furries identify or represent themselves with Pepé and the skunk can be found in many yiff art, gaining sex idol status in the fandom, partly due to efforts by such as Cigarskunk and Eva Triple.

Charlie Strap and Froggy Ball Flying High (Swedish Kalle Stropp och Grodan Boll på svindlande äventyr), is a 1991 Swedish animated feature film directed by Jan Gissberg after an original script by Thomas Funck, using Funck's already well-established characters.

Premise
It follows a shorter film made by the same team in 1987, Charlie Strap and Froggy Ball. This is the first time since before 1954 where a Kalle Stropp production features voice acting by others than only Funck himself, only with the exception of children that had participated in other productions as well. Also notable is that The Hen, one of the prominent characters in the Kalle Stropp canon, doesn't appear.
Synopsis
Something strange has been spotted over the tree tops in the forest where Charlie Strap and Froggy Ball live, and Plåt-Niklas quickly builds a monocular to examine it. It turns out to be an emergency signal and the two friends together with Plåt-Niklas and The Parrot set out on an expedition to resque whoever is sending the signal.

While crossing a stream, though, Froggy Ball falls down a small waterfall and ends up in a dark cave. While looking for a way out he stumbles upon the Cone People who live there and quickly befriends the Cone King and Queen. In the meantime Charlie Strap has met up with Kottegrön, a young and impulsive female cone, and soon joins Froggy Ball and the others. It turns out that the Cone People are the ones who have been sending the signal, and when elevated up to a tree top Charlie Strap and Froggy Ball see a helicopter landing, with three evil businessmen from the company Tonto-Turbo who are planning to tear down a huge part of the forest. When the businessmen leave, Kottegrön ends up being with them on the helicopter.
Charlie Strap and Froggy Ball hang on to the landing skids, but eventually fall off high up in the air over a lake. Luckily it turns out that Carlie's tailcoat can be used as a parachute, and Froggy Ball even learns how to steer it by pulling the tails so they can land on a steam boat. On the boat Plåt-Niklas and The Parrot succeed to locate them so they can join them again.

The boat takes them to Gripsholm Castle, which turns out to be where the businessmen were heading too, as their full plan is to move the old castle to the cleared space in the forest and turn it into a hyper modern luxury hotel, replacing most of its walls and floors with glass. This will be made possible by hacking the authorities' computers with a special program they are keeping on a floppy disk. Kottegrön, who has been hiding in a briefcase, tries to steal the disk but fails. Instead she, Charlie Strap and Froggy Ball end up on the bottom of the castle well, but are soon resqued by Plåt-Niklas who has the ability to fly. In the meantime the men from Tonto-Turbo leave again in their helicopter. Plåt-Niklas calculates that they are heading to the city, before he flies back to the cone forest with Kottegrön.

In the city, Charlie Strap and Froggy Ball walk up to Tonto-Turbo's central office and confront them, but are simply laughed at and disregarded. The businessmen then head off to the Nobel party where they have been invited. The two friends, left in the office, discover that the men forgot to bring the floppy disk with them. They try to find out which one of the disks at the office it is that is the real one, and while trying one in the computer the frog ends up inside of a computer game and Charlie has to control him into safety with the joystick. Soon after that, one of the men returns - and takes the right disk with him.

Unable to get into the Nobel party, Froggy Ball is ready to give up when a submarine appears. Out of it come Plåt-Niklas and Kottegrön who have returned. Through the kitchen they smuggle themselves into the party by hiding in the dessert - an ice cream parade. When inside Froggy Ball holds a speech where he accuses the men from Tonto-Turbo in public. The atmosphere becomes confused, and the men capture the two friends and decide to get rid of them once and for all. But then suddenly The Fox, who had previously only been seen in a short cameo in the very beginning of the story, arrives and causes disruption. While the men are distracted everybody can escape, and Kottegrön steals the floppy disk. After a wild chase though, the men recapture the disk, but only to see an army of cones arrive and chase them into the water, where also the disk is dropped by The Parrot.

Back in the cone forest the frog is awarded a prize from the hands of the cone Minister of Flower Pots and the businessmen are given a new profession - shaving sheep, which they seem to enjoy.

The red fox (Vulpes vulpes) is the most well known species of fox, and for most people is synonymous with the word 'fox'. It is one of the most popular species in the furry fandom.

The fur of a red fox is actually a rusty orange, although artistic depictions often darken the colour to a deeper reddish colour.

Subspecies and varieties
The red fox has many varieties. Some taxonomists regard the American variety as being a separate species (Vulpes fulva) but the consensus seems to be that they are merely different subspecies.

The cross fox is a common color variant with a dark stripe across the shoulders and down the back.

The silver fox, so called because of white-tipped black hairs on an otherwise solid-black coat, is also a color variant of the red fox, and is rare in the wild.

The red fox in culture
The red fox is proverbial as a thief and a trickster in some of the oldest story traditions, and has kept this reputation to the present day.

It is also an urban animal in some places, and many towns have foxes which hunt the streets after dark.

The Furry Writers' Guild is a furry writers' association with the aim of bringing writers of all levels of skill and ability together to help improve the quality of furry anthropomorphic fiction. Founded in April 2010 by Sean Silva and led since September 2013 by Sean Rivercritic, the Guild aspires to facilitate community building and information sharing between writers and readers of furry literature alike.

Mission
The purpose of the Furry Writers' Guild is to support, inform, elevate and promote quality writing and writers of anthropomorphic fiction. The also are hosts the Cóyotl Awards, an annual juried award for "excellence in anthropomorphic literature", run by the Furry Writers' Guild since 2012.

Web site
At the core of the Guild is its website, which aims to bring together people and resources and organize them into a cohesive whole. It collects useful links and information from throughout the internet and the furry fandom, including various writing resources, articles, distributors and publishers of anthropomorphic related literature, and an up-to-date Furry Writer's Market listing many publishing opportunities throughout the community.

Fur Affinity group
On January 31, 2011, a group was formed on Fur Affinity for Guild members, aspiring members, and other interested parties. Anyone may freely watch the group, and by doing so, automatically receive updates of new publishing venues and other news to their Fur Affinity inbox. Guild members are also authorized to post the Guild icon on their Fur Affinity profile page.

Membership
Although the web site and forums are open to all, full membership in the Guild is only available to writers who have met certain criteria for publication. Associate membership is offered on a case-by-case basis to "specific individuals who have made key contributions in the field of anthropomorphic fiction (such as editors and publishers)".

Eligibility
Membership in the Guild is free, but requires a writer to meet simple publishing criteria. Presently the available options are to either have at least one published entry in a paying venue, or two published works in non-paying venues. In either case, the written work must have anthropomorphic characters or themes. The publication venues themselves do not have to be inside the furry fandom, so long as the published work itself is appropriate.

Benefits
Membership provides access to a members-only section within the forum as well as providing announcements and advertisements for upcoming projects and publications through the website. It also provides recognition to its member authors and offers them a way to use their talents to improve furry fiction for everyone.

time

Trapa is an African civet who is based in British Columbia and attends and staffs a number of conventions. He has longwhen had a character on The Lion King MUCK, and his fursuit character is a civet. In June of 2008 he graduated university with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems, specializing in both networking and security.

Conventions and planned events
Califur
From the birth of Califur to October 2008, Trapa was the co-chair of Califur. In this role he helps to plan the convention and maintains the operations side of the convention planning. Through his efforts many of his friends and his furry family have ended up on the staff of Califur.

RainFurrest
In 2006, Trapa agreed to try to help Seattle have a convention again. He worked very hard on starting up the convention called RainFurrest, which he co-chaired in 2007. Gene, the other co-chair of RainFurrest, announced that Trapa would be the chair of RainFurrest in 2008.

Califur Train trip
For 2005 to 2008 Trapa orchestrated Califur Train which was a group train trip to and from Califur for furries from the North to make it to Califur.

FC Van Trip
Each year Trapa also orchestrates the Further Confusion van trip. The trip started the first year as a group of four furries renting a car to head to California. The second year of the trip it was 6 furries in a rental van. The third year it was 12 furs in two vans. The fourth year was 20 furries in 4 rental vans. The van trip website is at FC Van Trip Website

Other
As of late November 2011 Trapa was confirmed as Consultant for Furaleigh, a convention proposed for 2013 in North Carolina, U.S.A.

Furry business ventures
By 2006, Trapa started the business Paw Printing to help artists sell their artwork (and to cover the cost of attending conventions). After an initial fursuit collaborationwhen he worked with Scribblefox to create Northwest Furry Productions, a fursuiting business which lasted for three years.

Radio
Trapa is a certified amateur radio operator and instructor in Canada. He purchased several radios over time so that the conventions he runs didn't have to. Trapa has all the equipment needed to repair and maintain many two way radios and does offer his services at near-free prices to any other furries out there.

Electric Keet

2013-10-20T15:50:12Z

ReaperBot: Robot: Changing Category:Rainfurrest staff to Category:RainFurrest staff

unref
Electric Keet is a member of the furry fandom. She lives with her wife, th' buni, and five others in the Seattle, Washington region and works primarily as a freelance graphic designer. Electric Keet (sometimes credited as Jessie Tracer / Electric Keet) is known primarily for her breadth of creative pursuits.

Fursona
Electric Keet is not a fursona but merely a creative, slightly absurdist pseudonym that has gradually become both her business and personal name. While the name is not intended to connote any particular species, the "Keet" portion does originate as a variant of the word "parakeet."

In specifically furry contexts, Jessie is most often portrayed as a large, moderately anthropomorphic snow leopard with completely greyscale fur, a modified species. Frequently, this portrayal will include accessories or even the full appearance of being of a similar style to the programs in the film TRON (Disney, 1982) complete with violet glow.

Works
Design
Electric Keet is the designer of various printed publications within the fandom, including:
* the con booklet for the TSA-Bash in 2002 and 2003
* the pocket schedule for Further Confusion in 2006
* the con booklet for All Fur Fun from 2007 through 2009
* the pocket program and program guide for Anthrocon from 2003 through 2010
* the city guide for Anthrocon in 2007, 2009, and 2010
* the anthropomorphic literary magazine Renard's Menagerie during its eight-issue run
* the pocket program guide for RainFurrest in 2007 and 2008 (used 2009 through 2011 with modifications by another)
* the door-sign template for RainFurrest in 2008
* the fiction novels Child of Man, Bait and Switch, Beautiful World, and Bonds of Silver, Bonds of Gold
* the fiction anthologies Different Worlds, Different Stories: Volume 2 and A Horse of Many Colours
* all printed publications, badges, and signage for Everfree Northwest in 2012.

Prose
Electric Keet is credited (sometimes as Jessie Tracer or Jason Tracer) for several short works of fiction, including:
* "Mute City" (appears in the Transformation Story Archive)
* "The Spirit" (appears in the Anthrocon 2005 convention book)

She is the writer of Thirteen Ribbons, a web-published serial in 800 to 1200 word parts which centres around a racing team of anthropomorphic animals entering a competition which will take them on a tour through the Solar System of the future. It is described on the site as "a blend of F-Zero X and Animalympics". It is presently on hiatus, but with announced plans to resume.

Music
Electric Keet is an electronic composer. Though very few of her works have anything to do with anthropomorphics, and those which do are furry in name only, they are well-known for their prominent release at conventions and listener base within the fandom. Her album releases and re-releases are:
* Beyond It All: version one point zero beta (1996)
* Frozen Hex (1997)
* Beyond It All: version one point zero beta two (1997)
* Beyond It All: version one point zero beta three (2004)
* On the Game Grid (2004)

She has also composed soundtracks for several small videogames, both homebrew and published.

Activities
Radio
From 2005 to 2008, Electric Keet performed as a DJ for LT3M. Her weekly broadcast, Electric Keet's Game Grid, was a two-hour block of music from videogame soundtracks and remixes of same. She also occasionally broadcasted an impromptu show featuring varied music (mostly progressive rock or related) and live talk.

Weblog
Electric Keet is the creator of Cheaper Than Food: the Ramen Break, a playful chronicle of her experiences with all manner of domestic and imported instant noodles complete with pictures and ratings of each.

Roleplay and Chat
Jessie Tracer has participated in several online roleplaying communities within the fandom, including FurryMUCK as Jessie-Tiger (formerly Jason-Roo), SpinDizzy as Jessie-Tiger, Altered Realities (where she created the opening ASCII art logo, but remains uncredited), Puzzlebox MUCK as Zedda, and Tapestries MUCK as Eekay.

From 2005 to 2009, she participated in an active roleplay community in the massively multiplayer online game City of Heroes, in which she not only played several anthropomorphs but also wrote fiction involving them. Her global alias there was @ElectricKeet.

Electric Keet was frequent on Anthrochat IRC as Jessie or, when actively broadcasting on LT3M, as E-Keet[DJ]. She is also one of two head administrators of TFnet IRC.

Conventions
Jessie Tracer has attended numerous conventions, often in a staff or volunteer capacity. Notably:
* Albany Anthrocon 1998, as a dealer
* Anthrocon 1999, as a dealer
* Confurence 10, as a dealer
* Anthrocon 2002, as a volunteer

Darkenwolf

Darkenwolf is a purebred wolf with some cat and fox-like tendencies.

Biography
Darkenwolf (Dark for short), an avid video gamer, discovered furry art in 2003, when his first fursona image was drawn by Angela Rosquin. Since then, several overhauls of his character have occurred with changes of coloring and outfit. He has been, among other things, a martial artist, a mafia hitman, a jungle explorer, and a suave secret agent.

Dark has always had appreciation for anthropomorphic art and it is what drives him to continue to express his fur. Currently, Darkenwolf is working hard to commission a fursuit for his character, where he will finally have to decide what exactly he looks like.

As of March 2008 Dark is mated to Kader the wolf. Dark lives in San Luis Obispo and goes to school at Cal Poly studying Computer Science. He is jobless, like most furries. He enjoys playing Dance Dance Revolution and other music/video games.

Dark attended Further Confusion 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009 Califur 2006 and 2007, Anthrocon 2006, and RainFurrest 2007 and 2008; at RainFurrest 2007 he was the Black Ops Gofur & DDR Tournament Co-lead.

ReaperBot: Robot: Changing Category:Rainfurrest staff to Category:RainFurrest staff

wikify

Aphinity is an anthro Pacific White-Sided dolphin from North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He first came to recognize himself as furry in February of 2006. He spent a few years on Tapestries MUCK as Chuff, the anthro killer whale, prior to his introduction to Vfur, courtesy of Orka and Selkit from Furnation Worlds, who in turn lead him to Trapa and Loial Otter. He is the lead organizer of Howloween since Howloween 2008 and Howloween 2009, is on the Board of Directors for Rainfurrest, and is also on the Board of Directors for VancouFur.

Marine studies & work
Aphinity is passionate about dolphins and whales. He has previously worked as a dolphin trainer at The Dolphin Institute and has constructed a passive sonar beamforming hydrophone array for both UBC and for Vancouver Aquarium researcher Dr. Volker Deecke.

He regularly attends conferences relating to studies of wild killer whales and marine mammals in the Pacific Northwest and Alaska and was given approval to construct a passive sonar array system in the beluga whale habitat of the Vancouver Aquarium, to which he was given staff privileges. He was previously a volunteer for the Vancouver Aquarium as a Gallery Educator and is currently employed for Mascot work as Beebop beluga, the Aquarium's official mascot.

Interests
Automotive
Aphinity has a background in automotive racing and performance vehicles thanks to his father, who runs an inline six drag race car. He personally drives a 2004 Dodge SRT-4 turbo sport compact car, and occasionally races radio controlled off-road and on-road cars, having placed 3rd in the Canadian Nationals in 1/10th Scale Gas Truck before previously quitting racing in 1997.

Photography
Aphinity is an amateur photographer with a good deal of Nikon camera equipment. He is an experienced videographer and editor with past years of experience, including construction of a multimedia grad slide show for his high school graduating class, and various other amateur productions.

Computers
Aphinity is an avid computer user (including being an Apple Macintosh user) and once worked as an Apple Certified Technician at a major Apple Specialty store in Vancouver, BC. He is presently employed as a computer consultant for a North Vancouver company. He dabbles in electronics occasionally and has a diploma in Computer Systems Technology from the BC Institute of Technology with a specialty in embedded systems.

Fursuits
Aphinity constructed his first fursuit thanks to tips and guidance from Trapa and help from Loial, and a head design thanks to Saros (Legend Gryphon). The suit is comprised of a molded plastic head construction with overlaying soft foam and plush fabric, 3D eyes, a separate tail that hooks through a belt loop, a separate dorsal fin that can be worn independently, and feet constructed over top of old shoes.

When the fursuit was still unfinished, he chose to wear it for Howloween 2006, his first ever furry convention. He continued to work on it, and made substantial improvements to it for his use at Further Confusion 2007, as well as Rainfurrest 2007 and occasional public venues. Due to wear and damage, this fursuit is currently retired and it's final use was at Rainfurrest 2009.

He expanded his performance options by acquiring a second suit, a Siberian Husky named Ioco, which was received in October of 2009 on a commission from One Fur All Studios. While Aphinity is still his main character, he has found ioco (always spelled with a lowercase "i") to be tremendously well received by others and better understood compared to Aphinity, his dolphin character.

Physical transformation
Because they were easiest to arrange, Stalking Cat began his transformation by getting tattoos. Initially he had fish-scale tattoos on his arms and legs due to a connection he felt with aquatic species like porpoises. Years later he got tiger stripes tattooed on his face, and, as a result, "got more in touch with (his) totem and who (he really was)".

Stalking Cat had several body modifications performed. He had head, nose, and brow implants, and silicone cheek, chin, and lip injections. His ears were sculpted to make them more pointed, and the lobes relocated to make them more elongated.

Cat had his lip cleft to resemble the mouth of a cat, and had the septum of his nose relocated to give a more flat, cat-like profile. He had six stainless-steel mounts implanted on his forehead and eighteen piercings above his lip to which he could attach whiskers.

In the United States, it is illegal for a medical professional to alter someone's appearance beyond what society deems "normal", so most of Cat's modifications were done by body-modification artist Steve Haworth, of Phoenix, Arizona. The same legal issues meant at least one procedure (injection of silicone) was done in Mexico. Cat had to brave surgery without pain relief, because of U.S. laws stating that only qualified doctors are licensed to administer anaesthetic.

Cat originally wanted to have his teeth reshaped and sharpened to look more cat-like, but his dentist refused to do the work. As "years of drinking and drugging" had left his teeth in a poor state, Cat eventually had to have them fully removed and dentures fitted, and at that time his dentist helped him acquire dentures with cat fangs that were in excess of an inch long.

Stalking Cat grew his fingernails into long claws, which were strengthened by a layer of acrylic. He wore contact lenses with slitted pupils, and sometimes an animatronic tail.

Cat's tail was built by Wolf Tail, of WolfTronix. During Cat's phone-in interview on the Funday PawPet Show in May, 2002, he mentioned that he was looking for someone who could build an animatronic tail for him. Techwolf, one of the viewers who was also in the show's IRC channel, knew of WolfTronix because its website ran on his server, and he pointed it out to Stalking Cat who in turn got in contact with Wolf Tail. The tail was completed in about one month. Stalking Cat was flown out to Wolf's home in Indianapolis by German television station ProSieben, who filmed Wolf giving the tail to Stalking Cat before going on a day-long video shoot around downtown Indianapolis.

Stalking Cat's transformations were estimated by some to have cost more than $200,000, but Cat himself lost track of the expenses. He had planned to have implants inserted into the top of his head so he could attach cat ears.
