'''HerbstCon''' (or '''Die HerbstCon''') is a [[furry]] [[convention]] in the [[Wikipedia:Hesse|Hesse]] region of [[Wikipedia:Germany|Germany]] that was first held in 2003. The German words "Die HerbstCon" literally translates to "the autumn (or fall) con".

'''HerbstCon 2007''' took place over November 01-04 at a [[wikipedia:de:Sozialistische Jugend Deutschlands – Die Falken|Falken]] youth center club house in [[wikipedia:Seeheim-Jugenheim|Seeheim]] near [[Wikipedia:Darmstadt|Darmstadt]], Hesse, Germany. Due to the limited space (about 40 people), guests of previous years get invited first, followed by those on a waiting list. The last fall edition of HerbstCon attracted 36 participants.

== Spring Edition ==

The "Spring Edition" was held for the first time from 31 March to 2 April 2006 in a [[Wikipedia:Boy Scouts|boy scout]] club house near [[Wikipedia:Fulda|Fulda]], Hesse, Germany with 15 participants.

The following year, the Spring Edition was held from 30 March to 1 April 2007 in Phillipsthal, Hesse, Germany. Registration was closed when the maximum capacity of 20 participants was reached.

The next Spring Edition was held from 28 to 30 March 2008 in Phillipsthal and will again be limited to 20 people.

Herbcon 2009 will be held on 29.10.2009 - 01.11.2009.

== Background ==
HerbstCon is famous for its cozy atmosphere and excellent self-cooked food. It is reminiscent of meetings from the early days of [[furry fandom]], before elaborate programming, events, registration, badges, conbooks and timetables or the like could be found. Among the guests are many well-known German artists and organizers of other European conventions and meets. This is their "payback" for contributing to the fandom: a relaxing weekend!
HerbstCon is organized by [[kovu (Person)|kovu]] and [[somewolf]].

I've been meaning to tell you for some time--it's a pleasure working with you. I enjoy creating stubs and seeing you frequently soon add to them with external links and so forth. And you create elegeant stubs yourself!

I wanted to mention that I'm not planning to create many new articles for a time; I like the idea of our hitting ten thousand total articles soon after we move to wikifur.com, rather than while we're still at Wikia, and I'm not sure how our rate of growth will co-incide with the move schedule. The Calgary Furry Fandom party [http://www.con-version.org/PDF/CVProgrammingGrid%20FINAL.pdf took place in the Willow Room] on August 11. About 30 [[fur]]s, including seven [[fursuiter]]s, attended.

The names "ConWild" and "Sci-Fur Con" were suggested as alternatives because "Cal-Furr" sounded deceptively like a California convention.
