'''''Dreaming of Utopia''''' is a crime/detective-themed [[furry]] [[webcomic]] created by [[Mark Savary]].<ref>[https://twitter.com/autumnlake Twitter] Mark Savary. Retrieved June 7, 2014</ref> It depicts an alternate universe where the [[furry fandom]] is a religion, known as "Furryism", rather than a subculture.<ref>[http://www.dreamingofutopia.com/about/ About] section from comic website. Retrieved June 7, 2014</ref> Members of this religion, known as "furries", wear [[fursuits]] the majority of the time, including at work and in public, and have their own distinct practices and beliefs.

Most of the furry [[character]]s reside a district known as "Furtown", within an as-yet-unnamed city. For the most part, other people are intolerant of the furries, and, as such, they are seen as outsiders and are heavily discriminated against.

==Plot==
{{spoiler}}
===Main Story===

====Chapter 1: Barky Airedale====
The chapter begins with Barky Airedale, walking home one evening, when he is accosted by a gang known as "The Skullz", who attack him for being a furry. After beating him, stealing his wallet, cutting off his [[tail]] as a symbolic gesture, and throwing him over a wall bordering Furtown, the gang run off. Barky, with life threatening injuries, crawls over to a nearby street and attempts to find help. Pawl Meowman finds him and calls for an ambulance, which shows up with Doctor Woofly, and two assistants. Unfortunately, Barky dies on the way to the hospital, so the ambulance diverts to the morgue, where Quince, the coroner, calls for Detective Furtaugh to investigate the case.

Furtaugh questions Pawl and takes him back to where he found Barky. He then follows the trail of blood back to the scene of the attack, and decides the the Skullz are the likely perpetrators. He makes plans to detain and question the gang by going to their hideout. At the hideout, the Skulls are discussing their latest attack and their plans if they get pulled in for questioning. Furtaugh then enters with his colleague, and they detain the members of the gang present.

Consumed by guilt at not being able to save Barky, Pawl becomes depressed and starts drinking heavily in a local bar. His friend, a [[fox]] named Reddy Blackpaw, tries to help him, but eventually becomes angry at him because of his demeanour, and takes him home to bed. After failing to get any conclusive evidence from their interrogation, Furtaugh is forced to let the members of the gang go. The next morning, Pawl's friend, Pinky, after seeing him, goes over to speak to Reddy, and meets Clarice, who tries to persuade Reddy to talk to Pawl again. Disgruntled, Reddy goes over and angrily tells Pawl to "smarten up". Clarice then confronts Pawl in the bar, who is drinking heavily again. She suggests he go to the funeral in order to get some closure, which Pawl is unsure about.

Meanwhile, Furtaugh is under pressure to drop the Barky case from Carson, due to city politics. Furious, he storms out of his office. In the end, Pawl decides to attend the funeral, where, as is traditional, all of the attendees scatter a small shovel of the deceased's ashes. When it comes to Pawl's turn, he hesitates, and asks whether he should. When another attendee asks why not, he breaks, and tells everybody about how he failed to save Barky. They respond by saying that it was not his fault, and that they are all very grateful for what he he did. Another attendee then helps Pawl to scatter some of Barky's ashes.

Woofly then delivers Barky's coroners report to Elder Fox, who comments on the violence and prejudice that their community endures. The chapter concludes with an as yet unknown furry being assaulted by the Skullz.

====Chapter 2: The Shephard====
The chapter begins with a [[canine]] furry being murdered at a subway station during rush hour on a Friday, by being pushed in front of an oncoming train. Furtaugh goes to investigate the case, but due to problems with the security cameras, there is not enough evidence to find any suspects. A week later, another furry is found dead, but again there is not enough evidence for any suspects. Furtaugh is convinced there is a connection, but Carson is still sceptical. He agrees to send some plain-clothes officers to inspect subway stations at rush hour.

The following Wednesday, another furry is killed after being pushed onto the tracks and stepping on the third rail, again with no evidence as the cameras were down for repair. Furtaugh notices that another station is having its cameras repaired, and decides to go and talk to the crew. He is told that one of the work crew has gone to an adjacent station to fix another camera, so he heads off to investigate. Along with two patrolmen, he sees a furry waiting at the platform, and orders them to hold the furry, while Furtaugh spots something else...

==="Tales of Furtown"===

====#1: "It's good to be furry"====
The story depicts a canine furry, as he goes for a job interview outside the community of Furtown. This chapter in particular highlights the discrimination and hatred that the furries suffer at the hands of the wider population.

== Couple of Questions ==

Hi! I created this page, and while I'm generally happy with most of the content, there are a couple of things I would appreciate some help with:
* Firstly, I'm not familiar with the US style of age ratings (G, PG-13, R, MA, NC-17 etc.) so I'm not sure what sort of content would affect the rating. While [[Dreaming of Utopia]] has significant amounts of violence, murder, racist/homophobic language and a bit of blood, it doesn't have any nudity or sexual content (yet!). Should the rating be kept at MA, or should it really be NC-17?
* Secondly, is there any kind of template that could be put under '''Chapter 2: The Shephard''' to indicate it is still being "drawn" so to speak, and that the plot will be expanded as new panels are released? I considered using {{[[Template:Current|Current]]}} but I didn't think it would fit since it seems to be more for conventions and actual ''events''.
Actually, I've been around for some time now, it's just hard to contribute to WikiFur, as most of the info is there already. But I am working on articles on Estonian WikiFur, that's a field that has plenty of work to do. And I would also write articles about couple of most-known Estonian furries to English WikiFur. Only thing bothering me is that I'd like to change my username to TDtheTiger (so it'd match my fursona and user names on other sites) but I'm not sure if it's possible to do on WikiFur sites without losing contributions.
Hi, I might need some help and advice. I tried to create a user template, the ones you can place on your profile to display various things. Like whether you have an FA account etc. and I am having trouble making it into an actual template myself and others can use like that on their profile. I think I have also slightly messed up my user page as my links to being a wikifurry have disappeared and some of my current templates. Hi, I would just like to ask about something that sometimes occurs during preview of an edit. Well, a sort of half blue background appears when I click to view my edits before publishing. == FurWAG ==

Hi. I notice you've now split this up into seperate articles for each year, created a template etc. Is this standard policy where a convention has had at least one iteration and has announced there are plans for another one ? [[User:Bezel|Bezel]] 09:31, 7 October 2013 (EDT)

:Hi Bezel. I don't think there's anything written in stone, but it's what we do with the "big" conventions, and I see no harm in being consistent and treating the smaller conventions the same. Of course, it depends on how much there is to split off. With FurWAG there's only a few paragraphs to put in the year-specific articles, but I feel it's ''just'' enough to justify splitting it. If there was anything less than that then I'd probably keep them together in one article. (For example, in the article about [[EAST]], there's only one or two sentences on each iteration of the event, so that's an article I would leave unsplit.)--[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 09:49, 7 October 2013 (EDT)
:Hi Kovu,
:The main thing I can tell you is to watch out for equals signs. For some reason or another, the coding used in the Media Timeline page doesn't like them. This can be a problem when you want to add a YouTube link, since they all have equals signs in them. The workaround is to put the equals sign in double curly-brackets. ie '''<nowiki>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v{{=}}y_TKgWDZiv4</nowiki>''' instead of '''<nowiki>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y_TKgWDZiv4</nowiki>''' --[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 13:40, 22 May 2014 (EDT)
==Plot==
{{spoiler}}
===Main Story===

====Chapter 1: Barky Airedale====
The chapter begins with Barky Airedale, walking home one evening, when he is accosted by a gang known as "The Skullz", who attack him for being a furry. After beating him, stealing his wallet, cutting off his tail as a symbolic gesture, and throwing him over a wall bordering Furtown, the gang run off. Barky, with life threatening injuries, crawls over to a nearby street and attempts to find help. Pawl Meowman, finds him and calls for an ambulance, which shows up with Doctor Woofly, and two assistants. Unfortunately Barky dies on the way to the hospital, so the ambulance diverts to the morgue, where Quince, the coroner, calls for Detective Furtaugh to investigate the case. Furtaugh questions Pawl and takes him back to where he found Barky. He then follows the trail of blood back to the scene of the attack, and decides the the skullz are the likely perpetrators. He makes plans to detain and question the gang by going to their hideout. At their hideout, the skulls are discussing their latest attack and their plans if they get put in for questioning. Furtaugh then enters with his collegue, and they detain the members of the gang present.

Consumed by guilt at not being able to save Barky, Pawl becomes depressed and starts drinking heavily in a local bar. His friend, a fox named Reddy Blackpaw, tries to help him, but eventually becomes angry at him because of his demeanour, and takes him home to bed.

In the end, Pawl decides to attend the funeral, where as is traditional all of the attendees scatter a small shovel of the deceased ashes. When it comes to Pawl's turn, he hesitates, and asks whether he should. When another attendee asks why not, he breaks, and tells everybody about how he failed to save Barky. They respond by saying that it wasn't his fault, and that they are all very grateful for what he he did. Another attendee then helps Pawl to scatter some of Barky's ashes.

Woofly then delivers Barky's coroners report to Elder Fox, who comments on the violence and prejudice that their community endures. The chapter concludes with an as yet unknown furry being assaulted by the skullz.

====Chapter 2: The Shephard====
The chapter begins with a [[canine]] furry being murdered at a subway station during rush hour on a Friday, by being pushed in front of an oncoming train. Furtaugh goes to investigate the case, but due to problems with the security cameras, there isn't enough evidence to find any suspects. A week later, another furry is found dead, but again there isn't enough evidence for any suspects. Furtaugh notices that another station is having it's cameras repaired, and decides to go and talk to the crew. He is told that one of the work crew has gone to an adjacent station to fix another camera, so he heads off to investigate. Along with two patrolmen, he sees a furry waiting at the platform, and orders them to hold the furry, while Furtaugh spots something else...

====Chapter 2: The Shephard====
