Furthia High is a furry webcomic by QuetzaDrake. It is about a human teenager that attends his first year of public high school in a world completely populated by furries.

The comic began in June of 2005, and went on hiatus at the end of 2007. Upon its return, the story had restarted. The old archives are still online and available for reading. In April of 2008, the comic moved from its home of almost 3 years on Comic Genesis to its own server space hosted by Concession.

At the end of July 2008, QuetzaDrake added a foreign language section, where comics translated into a multitude of languages are posted for the benefit of international readers. Currently there are about 10 different languages being hosted, including French, Italian, Hebrew, Polish, two versions of Spanish, and more.

Plot Overview
Kale Williams is described as "the last known human in the world". The comic begins with his first day attending a public high school. There, he meets Bruce, Campy, and Ashley.

In the first canon, the story details Kale's first day in school and goes on to explore his home life. In the new canon's first arc, the events are changed in that Kale meets all three of his new friends at once, and Kale's first day is glazed over and the comic jumps ahead a few weeks in the span of one strip.

In the comic's second arc, staying true to the original canon, Lupin challenges Kale to a fight, and Ashley forces him to accept. Kale takes the pacifist route, which ends with him being injured but also more respected.

In the third arc, the characters attend Bruce's birthday party (thus aging him from 16 to 17). An underlying story seems to sprout here, as Kale manages to fall down Bruce's basement steps and, when he awakens, has a case of amnesia concerning the fall.

Cast
Major Characters
* Kale Williams - Male human, age 16. The "main character" of the comic, he's a friendly and kind-hearted boy, but also shy, nervous, and sometimes overly pessimistic. Strip #11 hinted at him having some form of obsessive-compulsive disorder. He also may have something darker lying within, as evidenced by a dream shown after his fall down Bruce's basement steps and the amnesia regarding the event.
**In the original canon, his name was Kale Goodman, age 14.
* Bruce Beradino - Male red fox, age 17. Annoyingly extroverted and random, but means well. Bruce appears to fluctuate between being caring and acting insensitive concerning serious events, sometimes even switching moods in an instant. He is apparently a fan of LARPing, soap operas, and power metal.
**In the original canon, his name was Bruce Renard, age 15.
* Christopher Hamachek - A male white French Lop rabbit, age 16, more commonly known as "Campy". Spends a great deal of time sleeping, though recently he's been more active, appearing to be a bit of a sensible foil to Bruce's antics. He is the literate, artistic type, spending his free time reading and writing poetry.
**In the original canon, his name was Christopher Ballade, age 15.
* Ashley Parker - A female orange and white cat, age 16. Protective and strong of her friends, but can be very bossy and headstrong. She may even come off as heartless and selfish, but she's merely very assured that her way is the best way for her and her friends. Despite being tomboyish, she has a habit of wearing fairly feminine clothing.
**In the original canon, her name was Ashley Macska, age 15.
* Lupin Gibb - A male gray wolf, age 17. A fairly sadistic bigoted bully whom antagonizes Kale for his "uniqueness". Has a small group of "friends", including Gus, that he leads around. Very focused on masculinity and has a great deal of trouble listening to others' orders.
**In the original canon, his name was Lupin Levowitz, age 16.
* Gus Brame - A male calico cat, age 16. A follower unable to make his own decisions as he grew up with many older siblings that bossed him around, which carried over to following Lupin during school. Acts tough and masculine in front of his group, but is actually fairly meek and submissive. Has a fairly obvious crush on Ashley.
**In the original canon, his name was Gustav Gratowski, age 15.
* Felicia Meyers - A female black panther, age 17. A narcissistic and manipulative seductress that enjoys using others for her own means. Has an antagonistic rivalry with Ashley that began in childhood.
**In the original canon, her name was Felicia Hood, age 16.
**Has yet to appear since the restart. QuetzaDrake has had a poll on his site asking whether Felicia would be "missed" if she were to not appear in the new canon, leading one to believe that he may or may not be bringing her back.
* Max Beradino - A male fox, age ~35, and Bruce's father. Max (a married bisexual decades ago) apparently lost his wife after the birth of his son; believing her to have been his one true (female) love, he could not bring himself to date other women, thus swearing them off for good. This resulted in him becoming a very flamboyant homosexual; however, he still acts the role of a very concerned and caring father for Bruce. Also may have something to hide, as he deviates from Kale's questions concerning his fall in the third arc.
**This character did not appear in the original canon.

Random Characters
Since the beginning of the restart, the comic has featured randomly-generated furs as additional cast and background characters. The system used is actually the same used by Concession, having been given to him by that comic's creator, Immelmann. There are only a few alterations from the system in that there is no Religion given to the characters; instead, a School Year is picked, from Freshman to Junior to Super-Senior and also that the usage of Dinosaurs is replaced by the cover-all species of Birds (the specific species of bird picked by QuetzaDrake by choice).

Randomly-generated characters in Furthia High tend to actually have a better chance of reappearing than in Concession, due to them usually being students as opposed to one-time customers. In fact, a number of characters have been made into relevant people to the main cast, from childhood friends (Jorge the red panda) to newly-acquired friends (Ryan the coyote and Eve the ring-tailed lemur).

Talk:Furthia High

QuetzaDrake:

Traduction française...
Hi ! I am a belgian fan of Furthia High, and when I saw that a French translation of F.H. was created, I immediatly got on the "French Club" page to have a look at this translation (I understand English very well, but my first language is French). And I've been seriously desappointed when I saw it because the french translation is really BAD ! The french version of the comic seems to have been simply translated by Google, the syntax is totally wrong, and certain expressions ("sacrebleu") are a bit outmoded in french-speaking countries. I'm sorry if I like agressive, I know that the French is not easy to learn, but if someone wants a guy to translate a text in a difficult language like french, german or russian, this person should make sure the translator can really speak this language ! If QuetzaDrake read my message, the best advice I could give to him is trying to find a French member of the Furry Fandom to translate the comic.

FUrthia High is good anyway, and I enjoyed every strips since its creation in 2005. Beau travail, Quetza ! ;-)

P.S. : I'm sorry if I made some mistakes in my message, but I'm learning English since only two years.

:And whcih version of french do you know? I'm pretty sure FH is translated into 'French-Canadian', which operates differently than regular French.
Immelmann 17:00, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Trust me, Immy, the french translation of FH is awful... It makes me remember the famous sentence "all your base are belong to us" (you see what I am talking about ?), but in french. I never meet a french-speaking canadian, but I'm sure he would think like me...

:You'd be amazed at the differences between dialects. Don't complain to QD about this - you should instead concider e-mailing the translator him/herself. Look on the credits page and you get can an e-mail:http://furthiahigh.concessioncomic.com/foreignlang/credits.html

That aside, I think that translator has stopped translating anyways.
Immelmann 19:25, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Firstly, let me completely assure you that, yes, French-Canadian and French-French are almost completely positively different enough that you'd mistake it to be "Google-translated". Immy and I both had the same issue with our initial Spanish translations: there was originally only going to be one Spanish translation from a translator in Spain; however, people from Central America literally could not read them and also claimed it to be "Google-translated". The dialects and syntax of the two are so different that that mistake could be made, so, y'know, I assure you that the person isn't just sticking my comics into an internet translator.

Second, the translator who has made the translations of the comics up has mysteriously vanished, so I've already hired a new one in his place that actually is a Frenchman. I will probably be replacing the old ones for this new version, as they're that different.

So, yeah :T QuetzaDrake 19:34, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

QuetzaDrake:

Immelmann is a wolf/rabbit hybrid located in Massachusetts. He is a graphic and comic artist, writer, amateur musician, philosopher, and (briefly) a voice actor. He is best known for being the author of the furry webcomic, Concession, and its spin-off, At the Heart of it All. He is also an ordained minister of the Universal Life Church (but is not a Christian).

He has been in and out of the furry fandom for a number of years. He has classified himself as a vast number of different species over his life (this current fursona is estimated to be his 14th iteration), but, hoping to attach a consistent identity to his comic, has settled on a wolf/rabbit hybrid.

His name, "Immelmann", comes from the anime Last Exile, which, in turn, takes the name from the WWI German fighter pilot Max Immelmann. The name was given to him by a good friend and made its first public appearance at Anime Boston 2006.
