The ''FURNAM'' is the first attempt to establish a furry society in the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Autonomous_University_of_Mexico National Autonomous University of Mexico]. Founded by [[user:Profesor_Rod|Profesor Rod]] on the October 23rd, 2008, it is still in an early stage of growth. One of its objectives is to gather every furry, disregarding academical grade, and demonstrate that the ratio of the furry population is bigger than expected.

Despite the community's HQ is on [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Autonomous_University_of_Mexico#University_City University City] it has been told that, as any open social experiment, any furry of whatever other institution, no mather what sex, age, race or language is more than welcome to participate.

At this moment all of its activities are held on-line through its forum page, to the exception of any member that wishes to promote the site openly or start to socialize with other peers already. There are plans for a broad diversity of activities that will be held once the community has reached some sort of presence.

The initial ads were made thru a series of cryptic yet humorous fliers sticked in the surrounding areas of campus' main faculties and schools, looking effectively to draw the attention of the stand byers and thus achieving a mundane to pick some interest about the fandom at the same time as giving a subtle but clear message to the furry student about the existence of the community.

Following the scheme of viral advertisement, speculation by word of mouth about the meaning of such fliers has been allowed. The first spectators had the chance to rip a ticket, the only part that contained the URL, directly from the propaganda, becoming a beacon of the news and at the same time leaving the rest of the public dumbfounded until it gets clear what does those posts mean, using some addendum pasted to the original advertisement.

The groups' leadership doesn't expect any negative reaction from the university's community, given the flashy publicity, as it is known that the UNAM is one of the most tolerant and multi-cultural universities in the world.

== Summary ==
This is the official badge of the Asociación de Furries Universitarios (Universitary Furries Association).

This badge, with it's unique aspects, represents the identity, philosophy and heritage of the community.

We have the traditional cougar's paw print, animal that is the mascot of the university, all in yellow and blue hues, colors that are traditional of the school as well. The paw is branded with the greek letter phi (F), letter that is used in the [[PhiPaw]] as a subtle way to tell that it's furry. This letter is used as well as the symbol of the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_ratio Golden ratio], that is an irrational number which properties where discovered by the Pythagoreans, who considered it as something divine, magical and always present in the nature.

It's said that the Pythagoreans branded their hands with a symbol as a proof that indeed they belonged to the school. Analogous to this, this Cougar's PhiPaw is branded, and an additional Pythagorean element was added: a pentagon with rounded corners; feature that shares with another geometric shape found in the UNAM's identity: the triangle that is part of the university's football club, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Club_Universidad_Nacional Pumas].

Yes, it was. Although it is an experimental group, it is a serious one. In the last 24 hours we got 5 persons to join and the advertisement isn't yet over, and some info about the fandom is going to be divulged, so we are taking a great effort to raise this. I'd wish to add our URL to the article but I get a message that says that the domain is blacklisted and I don't know how to reach an admin. --[[User:Profesor Rod|Profesor Rod]] 23:49, 24 October 2008 (UTC)
