Is Paws.ru shut down?
Is something wrong with the site? I try to post and it says invalid Url.

I try to click on the link in google search and it says "temporary unavailable".

Did they shut it down? I hope not!

: Paws.ru lost all of its content because of some staff incompetence. Now it is restarted. 82.199.102.55 15:47, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

Somthing happend to paws.ru recently that now i cant get in with mozilafirefox but works ok with explorer is there a way to get in touch with the paws.ru staff?

Paws.ru has some kind of DNP list now
They have a DNP list now

1. Heathen City: Alex Vance asked them to delete it

2. anything by Omega Ltd. (like Dragon Heat): the creators will complain if it's on there

3. Incontinental Student Bodies: the admin doesn't like it

also: the admin tends to delete posts involving Artdecade, Mark Wulfgar, or japanese Doujin.

History of WikiFur

2010-01-14T00:33:56Z

OckhamTheFox: /* 2009 */ fix

This article covers the history of WikiFur and related projects.
Timeline
2005
* July 23, 2005: Conceived by GreenReaper when creating a Wikipedia article on The Blind Pig.
* July 24, 2005: WikiFur founded on Wikia.
* July 31, 2005: The first content pages began to appear.
* August 4, 2005: GreenReaper wrote WikiFur - a home for the furry community on the talk page of Wikipedia's furry fandom page. Surprisingly (considering previous edits), there was no discussion, but a few people did join as a result.
* August 13, 2005: With editing totaling around 50 pages, WikiFur was promoted with GreenReaper's I Have a Dream message, cross-posted to several LiveJournal communities (it was, perhaps appropriately, deleted from Yerf's ;-). In a deserved burst of bad karma, the server went down and stayed down for hours.
* August 14, 2005: Trolling began, led by users from the fursecution LJ community and Encyclopedia Dramatica.
* August 15, 2005: Shortly after midnight UK DST (or 19:00 EDT the day before), AshMCairo posted about WikiFur on the Something Awful forum. WikiFur was subsequently selected for the dubious honor of Awful Link of the Day:
:It should come as no surprise, but in case you were wondering: "yes". Yes, there is a Wiki for furries. Don't spam it up, if only out of respect for the wikipedia ideal.
As a result, a mass of users hit the WikiFur servers. At the peak one edit was made every 45 seconds.
:At first we thought it was just an extension of the previous trolling, but as I tried to record the IPs and figure out some sort of pattern, I saw they were all over the place. Our next thought was proxies, but even then, there were just too many edits. Finally a vandal posted the URL while making an edit, and so we found out exactly what happened. Then we got chosen as Awful Link of the Day . . .
:I drafted several sysops from those trying to revert the edits, and we slowly beat back the tide. By about 14:00 EDT we had a reasonable handle on things, although edits were still coming thick and fast. Ironically, it probably helped us far more than it hurt, considering how many users it brought into the site, but it was hectic at the time! --GreenReaper
*August 20, 2005: Within the first week of openly promoting WikiFur, it had grown 32 times over, and there were over 1600 pages and 646 full articles on the site. Statistically, there was a new edit every 2 minutes, and a new page added every 20 minutes.
*August 21, 2005: A WikiFur article was created on Wikipedia by an anonymous user, and almost immediately submitted to Votes for Deletion on grounds of non-notability. Nobody actually at WikiFur heard about this until later in the week. The majority of votes (including those by WikiFur admins) were for delete, due to unproven notability.
*August 23, 2005: Passed 750 article pages.
*August 25, 2005: Passed 850 article pages and 10000 edits.
*August 28, 2005: Passed 1000 articles pages in the early hours of the morning, minor celebrations are held.
*October 30, 2005: The main page and Community Central were redesigned (and the latter renamed) to celebrate the creation of WikiFur's 2000th article page.
*November 18-20, 2005: WikiFur was promoted at Midwest FurFest 2005, using a leaflet written and distributed by GreenReaper, and printed with tweaks by Duncan da Husky
*December 1, 2005: WikiFur pipped Wookieepedia to becoming December's featured wikicity.

4chan and furry
For the first year or so of its existence, the majority of people on 4chan looked down upon furries, even funny animal cartoons, as a nuisance that does not belong on an anime board. A moderator could ban any user who posted furry material, for days or longer.

However, /b/, a random board where anything can be posted within U.S. law, is centered around anonymity and is rebellious against any sort of rules imposed on it from outside. Furry Friday used to be a regular feature of /b/, as every Friday /b/tards and furries flood the board both with clean and pornography furry media, to the disgust of some other /b/ users (who invariably complain that it is the "wrong day" if furry art is posted on any other day). Images and "siterips" from furry pay-sites (such as SexyFur) are often reposted on Fridays. In early 2008, Fur Friday was officially replaced by F40PH Friday. This sparked a huge protest by the 4chan furry community which to this day has refused to recognized the change.

4chan never welcomes furries and furry art, even on /b/, the only place of this site furry material is allowed, and posting furry material here sometimes leads to a temporary ban. Some members even recieved a permaban for posting furry artwork here.

April Furs Day
On April 1, 2005, 4chan administrators pulled a stunt called April Furs Day, in where a /fur/ board was created, and people were informed that from now on, furry images should go in there instead of /b/. Some users assumed it to be an April Fools' Day joke, and expected it to be gone the next day, while others complained about it in both /b/ and /fur/.

By April 2nd, it remained and people against it tried to flood it with non-furry images, such as EroGuro -- the moderators immediately banned those people. Finally, on April 3, the moderators removed the board, and banned every person who had posted in it -- including those who complained about it in the /fur/ board. The banning almost completely eliminated all furry postings for the next several months. This prank was not repeated again in 2006.

4chan and Fchan
Months prior to the April Furs Day event, to balance the growing demand for furry art and to provide a place for furry artwork to be posted without risk of removal or banning from an admin (as 4chan's owner proclaimed it was an anime website and would never add any furry or cartoon board), a user named Dr. Pon found hosting for and founded Fchan, one of the first and most popular furry image-boards.

4chan and WikiFur
On several occasions since 4chan began, some members of the /b/ community have organized raids against WikiFur utilizing the message board as a communications medium. Typical punishment consisted of a forum ban that could last for two weeks or longer, or be permanent, depending on the offense.

Such vandalism is similar to pranks on Wikipedia and other wikis.

4Chan's 100,000,000th post
On November 30th, 2008, at 15:54:26, the 100 millionth post on /b/ was a post that featured a furry image by artist Strype (image). This iconic action on this day would shortly thereafter be labeled as the day of "Epic Fail", and the next day after it, they were banning anyone that asked about it.fact

The post/thread was immediately deleted, but not before users were able to save/download copies of it.

Other furry GET/milestone 4chan posts include:
*Post #6,500,000 (April 7, 2006) featured an image of a sleeping furry or anthropomorphic Pokemon (image).
*Post #9,100,000 (June 16, 2006) featured an image of a naked catgirl (image).
*Post #17,000,000 (December 08, 2006) featured a image of a Macro Sheila Vixen by furry artist Eric W. Schwartz (image).

As with the 100,000,000th post, these were immediately deleted.

4chan and the 2006 /b/ exodus (/b/-day)
On 2006-08-23, the 4chan moderators started to strictly enforce its previously neglected rules on posting illegal content, private forum/wiki raids (such as the ones on Wikifur) and posting personal information. This caused a great deal of unrest within the /b/ community, with many expressing their discontent. Ultimately, most users stayed, accepting the new rules, while some left to find other image boards on which they could post such content without punishment.

A new home was found at the 7chan image-board, and a new /b/ community was recreated there with less restrictive rules, and a dedicated board for the posting of calls to invasion, /i/. Thus, any clash, raid or interaction between /b/ users and furry most likely originates from this new board, instead of 4chan's (still operational) /b/ community and/or users.

/b/ terminology (partial)
Both 4chan and 7chan /b/ communities share some of the following terms. These examples are some of the most relevant when involving furry, with some appearing during /b/ invasions (raids.) Many other examples can be perused at WikiChan.

*/b/tard: Both a derisive ("retard") and a self-identifying term for /b/ users.
*Anonymous Does Not Forgive: The battle cry of many /b/ raiders. The anonymous users of /b/ commit to a course of action and retaliate against perceived insults and attacks.
*F40PH Friday: Every Friday, /b/ users mass post images of F40PHs.
*Caturday: Every Saturday, /b/ users mass post images of cats and kittens to /b/.
*GTFO FURFAG ("Get The Fuck Out[,] Furfag"): A memetic net slang term used on anybody posting furry art on 4chan, specially /b/.
*DESU: A catch phrase used by Suiseiseki in Rozen Maiden. It is a Japanese sentence closure and literally means "it is". /b/ has taken and exaggerated this catch phrase: it is often spammed to make up meaningless replies, a rotated version nsәp and ASCII version are also used. "Desu" may also refer to the character Suiseiseki. Furry Desu, or Furseiseki is a furry fan creation, where she's drawn as an anthropomorphic fox counterpart to Suiseiseki.
*Harbl: Slang for testicles or male genitalia.
*Pool's Closed: Notification that a pool (as on Habbo Hotel) or other public area is blocked by raiders and inaccessible. The "pool" is usually closed due to AIDS.
*Nigra: The image or avatar of a cleanly suited black man with an afro hairstyle that many raiders adopt. Also known as /b/rothas.
*/r/: Request (i.e. "/r/ backup, /r/ the following image")
*CP: Child Pornography.
*JB: "Jailbait" (underage [ "tween" ] porn.)

Natasha Softpaw, also known as Natasha Lockhart, and as Natasha Petrichor on Second Life, is a grey wolf fur, born in August 1985. She is a professional web designer, with hobbies including amateur radio, nature photography, travelling, hiking, and off-roading. She's also transgendered, and while she used to use a male fursona/identity on furry sites, she's in the process of changing this to reflect changes in her real life.

Character Forms
Adult Form
Natasha Softpaw is a female grey wolf in her late teens (about 17, give or take a year). She’s a light-hearted, fun-loving fur who seldom takes life seriously, and she has a very playful personality. Her favourite activities include hiking, photography, swimming, and just relaxing among the trees near her home. She’s had a strong love of nature (particularly trees and flowers) ever since she was a pup, and happily describes herself as a “tree-hugger”. And, while she spends much of her time alone, she also enjoys social activities with her closest friends.

Her build is best described as average, but short. She’s roughly 5’4”, but this can vary due to her digitgrade legs (her family’s canine roots are unusually strong). Her headfur is dark brown, more than halfway down her back in length, and she typically lets it flow loosely, having never been a fan of the constricting sensation of hair elastics. But, she does loosely tie it back for swimming or hiking (if it’s a hot day). She seldom wears skirts or dresses, preferring short denim shorts and T-shirts (or tank-tops) instead. And, she usually wears a small, silver pentacle necklace (five-pointed star in a circle). She also loves wearing flowers in her hair, they make her feel like she’s bringing the forest home with her when she heads back after a day of hiking.

Click here for description and reference images.

Babyfur Form
Natasha Softpaw is a female grey wolf puppy (about 2, give or take a year). She’s highly energetic, yet also quite affectionate, and she greatly prefers playing outside over staying inside. She has an affinity for exploration, but she’s rather timid, so she usually brings one of her plushies (her favourite is a river otter) along to “protect” her. Luckily, her parents have a large, forested backyard, so she can play in the woods without being in any real danger. She has a bit of an overactive imagination, and loves dreaming up wild fantasy scenarios, which keep her much too busy to be bothered with TV or video games. But, when bedtime comes, there are few things she enjoys more than a long bath (she loves water), and some snuggle time in the arms of her mommy.

She has pretty long headfur for her age, it’s nearly halfway down her back, and dark brown in colour. Her preferred style is to just let it flow loosely, but she spends a lot of time brushing it to keep it smooth and untangled. She doesn’t like wearing dresses, nor does she like wearing just a diaper, though she does like jumpers and shortalls. Her favourite colours are lavender and blue, and she hates yellow, with her wardrobe reflecting this. And, she loves bringing flowers back inside after a long day of playing, as well as tucking them in her hair (she thinks they look pretty, and they smell nice).

Click here for description and reference images.

Fandom Involvement
To date, Natasha has attended nine furry conventions, including Anthrocon, Megaplex, and Midwest FurFest, as well as number of mini-cons like WPAFW and NYFB. She also attends local meets in the Pittsburgh area on a regular basis, and frequently visits groups of furry friends in Northern Virginia and Maryland, among other locations. She enjoys lending her expertise in website/community administration to a number of furry forums and websites, and recently, she's been involved with running large babyfur parties/social events at major furry cons.

She discovered the fandom on Halloween in 2003, and has been an avid member of the furry community ever since. And, contrary to popular misconceptions among those who've never met her, Natasha has no relation to Softpaw Magazine, nor should she be confused with the artist Kiffin Softpaw.

Lupinia
Natasha's website, Lupinia, hosts several other websites, both furry related and otherwise. Among these are:
* Furry Teens , a general furry site geared toward a teen audience.
* House Rules, the fan-colored version of Ozy and Millie.
* The Military Furs forum, run by Flinch Ferrex
