'''SafeHaven''' is a general [[furry]] chat channel on the [[FurNet (IRC)|FurNet]] [[IRC]] Network, offering a friendly, safe and upbeat environment to all furs and people. Initially designed as a small channel for the SafeHaven household in Melbourne, Australia, it has slowly grown into a mid-sized channel, usually averaging between 25 - 35 people.

== Channel rules ==

* 1. '''ABSOLUTELY NO PERSONAL ATTACKS, INSULTS, OR THREATS'''. We cannot choose our date of birth, our height, eye color, our biological family, our sex, skin color, our sexuality, or the forced actions of others. Harassing people about things beyond our control will NOT be tolerated. And if you physically threaten to hurt or kill anyone in, or out of the room, you will be removed AND reported to FurNET admins. There are FurNET admins who reside in channel and log all public posts.

* 2a. "Taboo" topics (like religion and politics for example) ARE allowed. These are things we DO choose, so they are fair game.
**NOTE: Do not preach or witness in the room. That is just rude, so don't do it. Your religion and beliefs are no more important or special than anyone else's. Spreading your propaganda will get you nowhere but suspended or banned.

* 2b. Minor erotic roleplay is allowed, but within reason. The discussion of hardcore eroticism and/or personal fetishes is NOT ALLOWED and will be enforced by the Ops Team.

* 3. Profanity, cursing, swearing, foul language, whatever you want to call it, is allowed, '''EXCEPT''' if it conflicts with rule #1. We like to let everyone be themselves and talk how they like, but within reason. Calling others names like "nigger" and "fag/faggot" will get you booted out before you know what hit you. We do not accept the usage of words when used in a derogatory fashion.

* 4a. No spamming. This includes repeated postings of text, pictures, links, websites, other chat rooms, and porn. Those who do will be warned. If that doesn't work, you get kicked. If that still doesn't work, you get suspended.

* 4b. AMIP. There has been a steady rise in the number of people using AMIP, so with that, we ask that you please don't over do it because it could be considered spam if you over post (such as more than once or twice per song, or if you are "test posting" while setting it up or editing it). We encourage, support, and promote the sharing of our musical interests, and one way of doing so is with AMIP. Now for a "friendly" warning... although we will NEVER ban any music from being posted, if you post anything by boy bands, Britney Spears and those blond bimbos like her, and fat white boy rap/rockers be prepared for a flaming and possibly a kick for your SEVERE lack in musical taste and for polluting our harmonious channel (cough) with premanufactured, no depth, meaningless, pure and utter shit people pass off as "music."

* 5. English ONLY! We greatly respect people from all over the world and their native languages. However, the vast majority of our members are from America, Australia, Canada, England, and New Zealand where English is the primary language. So we ask that you please keep it English. Also, refrain from Ebonics, 1337, netspeak and any other abomination of the English language. Show us you have some level of maturity and intelligence by typing normally. If not, don't blame us for the flaming you will receive.

* 6. NO CAPS LOCK! This SHOULD be common sense, and not even needed in the rules. It is common chatroom etiquette no matter what room you are in. But some people persist in SCREAMING AT EVERYONE! So now, if you do, first time you get a warning, second a kick, third will be suspension. This however, does NOT include the occasional outburst of emotional expressiveness. That is fine, we just don't want repeated usage of CAPS because it is truly annoying.

* 7. Please SHUT OFF your away message if you are going to chat. It's annoying, distracting, and just plain rude to have your message keep popping up while you continue to chat.

* 8. Please do NOT bypass bans. Bypassing bans can and will result in a permanent ban from #SafeHaven, and possibly FurNet.

* 9. Let the Ops Team do their job! They were promoted to their positions for a reason. It is their job to enforce the rules of #SafeHaven, not yours. We do appreciate you wanting to help out, however it does make things more confusing in the room. If you see an issue where no action is being taken, get the attention of an Ops member, but if they are dealing with the problem, STAY OUT OF IT.
**NOTE: Telling the Ops Team how to do their job doesn't help either, and if by chance there is no Ops member available, log the chat and send it to ops@sacredlore.com.

* 10. NO fighting or attention whoring!! This is a chatroom, NOT a boxing ring. And if we see you spamming "Everyone love me" or "I wanna die, someone kill me" or some stupid shit like that, we will warn you first, then kick you if you continue. Don't come back in saying you were joking, THIS is your warning, don't bitch about it.

* 11. Do NOT discuss the act of "cutting". This is a serious issue that people have a problem with. #SafeHaven does NOT support this act in any way, shape, or form. We will however try and help you if you just need someone to talk to. We are not guidance counselors so we CANNOT offer any professional assistance or advice. WHICH MEANS, if you aren't happy with our opinions or our advice, or end up worse than you already are because you took the advice of someone in channel, it is YOUR fault, not ours.

* 13. '''An Ops ruling is final!''' This means that if any op within channel makes a decision, then that op has the support of the channel owner and the higher ops. If you wish to contest the ruling take it to a higher op. If you don't like the second ruling, go to the channel watcher (the one in charge at the time) or to the channel owner. Once the Channel owner has made their decision, that decision is ABSOLUTLY FINAL and no correspondence will be entered into. * 14. Although this should be common sense, we have had a number of issues with this in recent times. Whilst in channel, posting links is ok, provided that they do not link to any malicious software (virus, spyware, etc.). We get enough of that from just browsing the interblogs, so please don't post these sort of links. Some people have also posted a disclaimer. The problem with this is that if you post the disclaimer prior to posting a link, and someone joins bewteen those two times, then the disclaimer is null and void. Therefore, don't post these links, because you will be banned if you continue to do so after being warned.
(Note: Posting malicious links is, in part, a breach of rule 1.)

==About the Fur==
'''Obsidian''' ''(born June 12, 1986)'' is an [[anthropomorphic|anthro]] obsidian [[dragon|dragon]] living in [[Wikipedia:Queensland|Queensland]], [[wikipedia:Australia|Australia]]. Formerly known as [[Lore Loragon|Lore]], his previous fursona was that of a half-wolf, half-dragon polymorph. Over time, he has come to realise that he prefers dragons to wolves, and has changed his fursona to match.

Obsidian (also known as '''Sid''') is one of a pawful (or clawful) of furs who has furry parents, both of which (in his case) are dragons. He was the only hatchling to survive.

Like a large portion of the furry community, Obsidian is bisexual (but with a male preference) and, at the time of writing this, is single. He is not a big fan of yiff (unlike a lot of furs) and says as much to people and furs alike.

Due to issues from furs that began to affect his personal like, he has recently moved from [[Wikipedia:Melbourne|Melbourne]], [[Wikipedia:Victoria|Victoria]] back to his home state of Queensland, where he is staying with his parents until such a time as he can find an unoccupied cave in the vacinity.

He also occasionally does fursuiting.

==Personal Data==
In reality, Obsidian is 5' 9" tall, of average to large build, and always tries to help people in need. He also tries to get to know people before judging them, although some people (and these are few and far between) he has judged solely on their reputation in the community.

He is a good friend to the [[Westhaven|Westhaven]] household, and owns his own IRC Channel, [[SafeHaven|#SafeHaven]].
