Talk:Scalie

Noel Paige:

Shouldn't it be "scaly" singular, "scalies" plural? --Sebkha 08:39, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)

A quick Google search reveals quite a few instances of "scalie" (spelt that way) being used in this context. We may need a redirect from "scaly", too, but the term as spelt is certainly valid as it stands. Tevildo 12:32, 2 Oct 2005 (UTC)

:We probably need a redirect from "scaley", as well. :) No less a personage than Alan Moore has been known to spell it that way in his published work. Tevildo

Although Bowser's a good example, he's not a scalie, per se. But he would be good in a side picture. --Noel Paige 03:19, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

This comic has no relevance to the furry fandom whatsoever. In fact, half of these "adventures" are really about the creator of the comic himself. No serious furry has ever read Sonichu in his or her life. --Noel Paige 02:43, 1 December 2010 (UTC)

Fleshy

2010-12-01T02:31:59Z

Noel Paige:

Fleshy, also known as Fleshies, is a humorous or self-mocking term among a few persons in the animation industry as a humorous jab to the term "furry" (person). Users are, know, or have friends in the furry fandom itself, and they do not have a problem with it, or its culture. However, in certain circumstances, the term itself has been used as a serious derogatory term referring to humans; in a sense, this is the furry equivalent to the term "furfag."

The term's use cannot be verified and/or confirmed on any animation production companies outside the continental US.

Fleshy, also known as Fleshies, Skinny, Skinnies, or Human Lovers, are furries and anthros who obsess about humans, to the point off being one.

Rabbit

2010-12-01T02:28:54Z

A rabbit (also known as "lapin" or "lapine" in French, "usagi" in Japanese) is a herbivorous mammal, physically characterised by long hindlegs, long ears, large front teeth, and a very short, fluffy tail, called a scut or bobtail.

Species confusion
The rabbit is a very well-known animal, but similarities between different species often results in it being confused with other species. The archetypal rabbit is the European Rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus), which is brown-grey in colour. All domestic rabbits are descended from this species.

In America, European rabbits are often confused with cottontails, which look practically the same, but are a different genus.

The most common confusion is with hares, which look like large rabbits. The two are not the same, but they tend to be lumped together.

Rabbits in culture
Rabbits are well known for being prolific breeders (as evidenced in the phrase 'breeding like rabbits'). For this reason, they are often used as a symbol of fertility. For the same reason, they are regarded as pests by farmers.

The rabbit is widely predated, and this role as a prey animal also lends it an air of innocence.

Anthropomorphic rabbits have often appeared in film and literature. Some popular culture examples are:

* Bugs Bunny from Looney Tunes
* Lola Bunny from Space Jam
* Buster Bunny from Tiny Toon Adventures
* Babs Bunny from Tiny Toon Adventures
* Roger Rabbit from Who Framed Roger Rabbit
* Cream the Rabbit from the Sonic series
* Usagi Yojimbo

Bhunnies
A "bhunny" is an attractive female rabbit. The term is comparable to "vixen", but applied to a rabbit instead of a fox. The word is vocalized slowly and drawn out (bhuuuuunny), as if the lower jaw were numb and/or weighted down. The term is the result of a male character seeing an attractive doe rabbit character and being so distracted by the sight he is unable to say anything else.

Many associate the term with the characters Rhonda or her mother RM from the comic strip Roomies, but it is unclear whether the term originated there.
