The Guests of Honor for Eurofurence 14 were Watts Martin and Steve Gallacci. Gallacci was originally scheduled as a Guest of Honor for Eurofurence 13, but was unable to attend.

Media reports
The convention invited a number of local and regional reporters to the site. This resulted in the following media coverage:
* A slideshow of photographs in the online edition of the Thüringer Allgemeine
* A TV report on the local TV station Rennsteig TV.
* A report on Zeit Online, along with a slideshow.

Charity
Like Eurofurence 13, EF 14 had a specific charity that money was being raised for. This year the money raised was donated to the British National Fox Welfare Society (NFWS).

There were two dedicated charity events organized during the convention:
*The Internet is for porn
* Erotic fursuit dance
The €4 ticket price to these events went to the NFWS. A donation box was present during several events. €3509.69 (~US$5200) was raised in total.

Trivia
This year the taxi-company contracted to do the shuttle-service between the Golden Tulip -hotel and the Ringberg-hotel bailed out. Within one hour volunteers of the security-staff where recruited to replace it using a car provided by the Ringberg hotel.

The Big Blue Dance lasted until 7:15 this year, ending in the usual song "Horse with no name".

The professionals of the fursuit photo shoot made more then 4000 photos working well after the convention was over.

Außenstelle Österreich (outpost Austria) is the name under which Grahir and nifela produced German-language comedic sketches, which were aired at Furry 8000.

History
Außenstelle Österreich started as an idea when Grahir and nifela walked home after buying drinks and snacks from a nearby petrol station. They wanted to do a call-in but didn't want to pay the high telephone charges for a call to Germany so they came up with the idea of pre-recording a short sketch, which was then aired at Furry 8000.
This started the "tradition" of creating such sketches whenever a new F8k show was announced.

With time nifela got access to better microphones as well as software and she picked up a few tricks, which greatly improved production quality.

In 2008 the name changed from Außenstelle Austria to Außenstelle Österreich.

Voice actors
While the Außenstelle started with only Grahir and nifela, there have been other contributions to the project.
Most notably Grahirs then-girlfriend maggy, who lent her voice for a few episodes until the Außenstelle moved to Vienna.

Ranek, Suran, Waldlicht and Zefiro also contributed to the Außenstelle with sent-in recordings that were used in a few sketches.
Terminology
As a trans person myself, I feel like it should be noted that while some trans people use the term, the term "transsexual" is often considered by some to be outdated, inaccurate, and even derogatory. It does mean a transgender person who has had sex reassignment surgery, but not all transgender people are willing or able to transition fully and I don't think it should be considered a seperate thing in this article.

It should also be noted that the section of the article discussing "transsexuals" cites the WHO, and while I haven't read the whole article, I am going to assume it talks of transgender people as a mental illness or disorder, which is often considered very disrespectful and inaccurate, much like how homosexuality was once considered a disease by homophobes only decades ago.

In short, sources referring to "transsexualism" or "gender-identity disorder" are best considered inaccurate and likely written by cisgender people. While these terms are sometimes used by those in the transgender community aswell, their use is often both controversial and dwindling. == Proposal for deletion ==

This article fails to properly describe transgender and is full of outdated references and (partially derogatory) terminology, such as "transsexual".

My arguments for a total deletion are that Wikipedia offers a much more comprehensive attempt at a definition of the term and Wikipedia is more likely to be kept up-to-date and checked by actual tansgender persons. Wikifur should not aim to define terms that are not central to, or originate from the furry community. Any attempt to define transgender in a, for the lack of a better term, fringe wiki will always result in an article that is outdated and quite possibly very derogatory.

I want to highlight a few issues with this article:
* Use of transsexual as a synonym for transgender. Transsexual seems to be an outdated term, as terminology has moved towards a focus on gender identity rather than sex and "switching" sexes - hence also the terminology for sex reassignment/reconstructive surgery, or gender confirmation surgery, rather than sex change.
* Transition is not purely medical/surgical. Transition is, I would argue, more about expressing one's gender identity. This shows a severe lack of understanding on the side of the author.
* Medical transition is not limited to injections and/or surgery.
* Quantitative assumptions without source, such as …many individuals are unable to do so…, Many female-to-male transsexuals…
* Speaking of *-to-* terminology: modern and respectful terminology would be "trans woman" and "trans man". Again, gender identity is not about switching sex but about confirming one's gender.
* General lack of understanding or respect for gender identity
* Perpetuating or even creating stereotypes and mistaking character gender with ("player's") gender identity.
Nifela

:I made some changes to the article. I do not think it should be deleted, but it could stand to be merged into LGBT along with Sexual orientation (to which LGBT currently redirects). There's been coverage of the significant overlap between furries and LGBT communities, both in and outside the fandom, which this wiki is currently remiss to lack discussion of. The article LGBT should probably focus on succinct coverage with links to Wikipedia for more info (a la the now-current ones on both this article and at Sexual orientation) and from there cover mostly furry connections, media coverage, surveys and statistics, etc. --Equivamp - <small>talk</small> 14:06, 7 March 2019 (EST)

I would argue that sexual orientation has absolutely nothing to do with transgender, so if current up-do-date information regarding transgender is merged into LGBT, then LGBT should no longer redirect to sexual orientation. --nifela (talk) 14:16, 7 March 2019 (EST)

Transgender is an umbrella term referring to individuals whose gender identities do not match to the sex they were assigned at birth. This can include both traditional binary identification (i.e. exclusively male or female) or non-binary identifications (e.g. genderqueer, agender, bigender, etc.). This umbrella is sometimes extended to cover cross-dressers and others who "transgress" gender boundaries, though this is widely debated among the trans community.

While the term "transgender" is often conflated with transexualism, in which an individual identifies with and may present as a sex different than the one they were assigned at birth, not all transgender persons identify as such. Some transgender individuals have no wish to change their gender presentation (i.e. how they generally present themselves to others through dress, actions, and other identifiers). Some who wish to transition consider themselves exclusively transsexual and separate from the transgender community entirely.

Transsexual individuals may choose to change their physical attributes medically or surgically, a process which is known as transition. Methods of transition are heavily monitored by medical and psychiatric professionals to ensure the physical and mental health of the patient through-out their transition. Common methods of transition include hormone injections and/or genital surgery. Many female-to-male transsexuals may choose to have a double mastectomy preformed to remove their breast tissue (a procedure colloquially referred to as "top surgery"), while male-to-female transsexuals may undergo breast augmentation. Genital augmentation is also often preformed for the reconstruction of the reproductive organs into the desired form. Transitioning individuals may also have other procedures such as facial reconstruction to gain a more feminine or masculine appearance.

The process of legal transition on documents such as birth certificates, driver's licenses, and passports varies by country and state, though many require medical testimonies or even surgical transition to be enacted. In some areas, transition is not recognized, and there is no way for a transsexual individual to amend their legal documentation. Due to these limitations, as well as the length and cost of legal transition, many individuals are unable to due so, despite their gender identity or presentation.
