The Stud is located in the South of Market district in San Francisco. It is a 21 and over nightclub that has been operating in San Francisco since the 1970's. It moved to it's current location at the corner of 9th Street and Harrison Street in the 1990s. The legal capacity of the venue is 300 (monthly attendance varies between 275-325.) The venue also has a small backstage area that is used occasional as a staging area for live shows, that is converted into a fursuit lounge/staging area for Frolic.

Most of the lighting is provided by the producers of Frolic, and set up that night for the event, as well as additional decor that help add to the furry vibe.
Frolic San Jose

On January 14th 2012, Frolic fell on the same date as the furry convention Further Confusion. To avoid competing with the event a one time special edition of Frolic was held at a local LGBT club Brix night club in San Jose. Less then a block away from the San Jose Convention Center, Frolic had over 300 attendees.

Due to popular demand Frolic returned to San Jose on January 19th 2013. To accommodate the growing attention of Frolic the venue Agenda Lounge was used. Offering two floors of dance music, lighting and over 10 flat screens of furry themed visuals. More then 500 attended Frolic.

Frolic San Jose is planning on returning to the Agenda Lounge to coincide with Further Confusion in January of 2014.

Furries in the Wild

In June 2011, Frolic offered a free, outdoor, all ages, daytime party "Frolic in the park." Located in Joaquin Miller park in Oakland, several hundred people came to enjoy a day of music, food, dancing, fursuiting, and games.

Frolic at Bootie

Bootie is one of the biggest nightclub theme nights in San Francisco, happening every Saturday night at the DNA Lounge, with the theme of pirated music and mashups. On occasion, Bootie teams up with other event production crews and hands over a room for them to provide content. On Saturday, October 19th, Frolic hosted the upstairs loft room and had Frolic djs and vjs providing content, and used the Bootie green room for fursuiters. The overall event was a success, everyone had a great time, and Frolic has been invited back to do this again in the future. As it was a learning experience for both parties, next time there will be improvements.

Furries in the Wild

In June 2011, Frolic offered a free, outdoor, all ages, daytime party "Frolic in the park." Located in Joaquin Miller park in Oakland, several hundred people came to enjoy a day of music, food, dancing, fursuiting, and games.
This event annual event returned in July of 2012 and 2013 for more of the same.

Frolic is a series of nightclub-based furry dance parties, organized by NeonBunny and Skibit and occurring every second Saturday in Wikipedia:San Francisco. Since its opening on March 13th, 2010, the event has inspired similar furry events all over the United States.

The venue where the event is held is called the Stud, which is located in the South of Market district in San Francisco. Since then, Frolic has been held every second Saturday of the month at the same venue. The Stud is an ages 21 and over nightclub that has been operating in San Francisco since the 1970's. It moved to it's current location at the corner of 9th Street and Harrison Street in the 1990s. The legal capacity of the venue is 300. The venue also has a small backstage area that is used occasional as a staging area for live shows, that is converted into a fursuit lounge/staging area for Frolic.

Frolic features regular DJ NeonBunny, as well as rotating local furry dj's who are active in the fandom. Regular DJs include AudioDile, My Pet Rhino, Ikkuma, Neshamah, Bucker Fuskyote, and more. The main styles played tend to be house, pop, breaks, trance, with the occasional dubstep and goth/industrial.

Frolic also features a video crew that do live video mixing, using found furry visuals as the source. The video crew is made up of Skibit and MaliePono.

In June of 2011, Frolic hosted a free, outdoor, all ages, daytime party called Furries in the Wild (nicknamed Frolic in the Park) in Joaquin Miller park in Oakland. Several hundred people showed up to enjoy a day of music, food, dancing, fursuiting, frisbee playing, and more.

Frolic was promoted at Further Confusion 2012, where it ran concurrent to the regular Saturday-night dances. This one-night-only San Jose edition of Frolic was hosted at Brix Nightclub, a local LGBT club.
According to a comment on this article's Discussion page by Leothelion on 3 March 2009: "Attention all you furries! There is a new meet up in Sunnyvale every Monday evening around 6pm to 9pm or so, at Gobi Mongolian BBQ. It is a new restaurant and features excellent Mongolian BBQ! The cost is about $10-$11 which includes: all you can eat Mongolian BBQ, rice, soup, egg rolls, a drink, and vanilla soft-serve ice cream! Smash originally organized it."

The pizza is quite good with many different varieties. Try the Hot Hawaiian! Beer is also on tap. This was originally organized by Helvetica Bold.

"Naughm" is intended as a more meaty, cheeks-full version of the word "nom," which is sometimes used to indicate ravenous eating (e.g. "Nom nom nom nom!").
People show up as early as 5 PM, and are typically there till about 9-10 p.m. or so, especially for those of us working-late types. Free wireless internet access. Some furs drift away in small groups to the nearby Mission City Coffee Roasting Company or "Smoke This!" hookah-smoking establishment after the initial meeting.
:There is a new restaurant that recently opened, next door to 'Smoke This' called 'Wrap This!" Owned by the same person who opened Smoke This, they serve Gyros, flat-breads and other traditional Mediterranean food, they also serve American fare.

~A lot of furs do come to this area... and from far distances too! From Santa Cruz to Santa Rosa -- This seems to be the most popular meet up.

* Furry Pancakes
:When: 1:30 PM to 4:00 PM (Restaurant closes at 3, at which time attendees will migrate out to the patio and mingle)
:This is a sit-down-type restaurant which serves both breakfast and lunch. Prices are reasonable (comparable to Denny's), and portions are VERY large. Turnout can vary from 3 to 16 furs, typically at the tables toward the back of the restaurant.

* Stars on Sunday
:When: 7:00pm-??? (Stars is open 24 hours a day, so stay however long you would like. Sometimes it's a couple of hours, sometimes it's more!)
:Where: Stars Recreation, 155 Browns Valley Parkway, Vacaville, CA‎ - (707) 455-7827‎
:Directions: This bowling alley can be a little hard to find at night, so make sure you pull up exact directions from Google/Mapquest!
:The first Sunday of every month, Kannakin and Eden suit up and go to the Stars Recreational Center to bowl. It's a nice quiet 24 hour facility that has bowling, lazer tag, and a huge arcade; the whole nine yards. The reactions we get when we're there are wonderful, and the employees love us. Bowling is $4.00 a game per person, so it's definitely cheap fun! (I'm not sure the cost of shoes/bowling ball if you don't already have them) Make sure that if you're coming you bring enough money for yourself to bowl and play! Fursuiters and non-fursuiters welcome! If you have trouble finding us, look for the only ears and tail in the establishment!

Semimonthly
* San Francisco Furry Party
:When: starting at 8 p.m. every other Friday night; dates announced on the mailing list
:Where: Sagemane, Syrus and Hunter Gryphon's apartment in the Excelsior District of San Francisco
:Directions: Available by RSVP only

Monthly
* Berkeley Furmeet
:When: First Tuesday of the month, nearly always; watch the list
:Where: Au Coquelet Cafe, 2000 University Ave., Berkeley
:Directions: From Downtown Berkeley BART, walk North on Shattuck to University. Turn left and Au Coquelet is at the end of the block on the left hand side. From campus walk West on University two blocks. The furs usually meet in the back room (as opposed to the room with the cashier).
:Expect to find: expensive coffee and pastries, as well as reasonably-priced pastas, omelettes, burgers, sandwiches, soups. $8-10 is common for entrees.

-Don't let the prices deter you from coming to the meet. Not all furs who do go get any food, and there is a cheap ramen shop (among other tasty non-expensive places) + McDonalds around. The idea is to get together in a nice place, not to spend all your cash. ~ Noted by Ryshili

* Frolic
:When: Second Saturday of the month, 9 p.m. - 2 a.m.
:Where: The Stud night club, 299 9th Street, San Francisco
:Expect to find: reasonably priced drinks, techno music, black lights, face painting, glow sticks, and friendly people in costume. This is a 21 and over event where once a month, furries take over a nightclub in San Francisco, and bring in our own DJ's, art, video, decor, and fill the place up with fursuiters. There is a smallish shared space for fursuiters to get suited in.

* San Francisco Furmeet
:When: Last Monday of the month
:Where: Wicked Grounds, 289 8th Street, San Francisco, CA
:Directions: They are located at 289 8th Street in San Francisco. To get there from BART/MUNI, get off at Civic Center Station and exit at the 8th Street exit (there are signs). Take a left onto 8th street and Wicked Grounds will be about 3 blocks down, on the left, right before Folsom Street.
:Expect to find: Coffee and sandwiches are served here.

Currently Dead Gatherings
The following gatherings appear to be moribund. For details, ask on the BAF discussion list before going.

* SF Furmeet at Sparky's
:When: Starting at 7 p.m. on the first Monday of every month (or, if the day happens to be a National Holiday, then typically the following Monday).
:Where: "Sparky's Diner" at 242 Church St. in San Francisco, CA 94114 (phone: 415-626-8666)
:Directions: Located on Church St. between 15th St. and Market St. It's a fairly easy walk down 16th Street from BART -- walk uphill, then turn right on Church Street and walk another few blocks. Nearby MUNI transit includes the 22, 35, F, J, K, L, M, and N lines. All let you off somewhere near Church and Market. Driving is possible, but expect some difficulty in finding parking nearby. Available food includes burgers, sandwiches, pasta, some vegetarian entrées, salads, ice cream, coffee drinks, sodas, shakes and $1.25 beer specials on Mondays! Typical price for a main dish is $6-12.

* Wednesday Taco Time! - DEAD
:What: Dead due to stagnation and cliquishness.

* Wednesday Coffee - DEAD
:What: The evolution of the Wednesday "Coffee" tradition, started in the mid-90s at Coffee Society in Cupertino, continuing (and converging with #GaySanJose) at Cafe Leviticus, then moving on to CyberCafes in Sunnyvale, and culminating in Exciting Random Location. May still be going on, but Reveille is no longer the one to contact about it.

* Revenge of Pizza, RAWR! - DEAD
:What: Dead due to disinterest.
