In the last 48 hours KiwiFarms thread on near has picked up and subsequently edit wars have started around near related entries on WikiFur and Wikipedia around the basis that a US Dept of suicide report not listing near is somehow a strong basis for near's suicide being faked despite USA Today contacting near's employer, Datapower Development, and validating the suicide. Such claims do not take into account basic things like ability for US citizen's to renounce their citizenship even assuming near was a US citizen and not a resident, etc.

As such, suggest preventing energy spent on edit wars with some form of edit lock like requiring an account rather than IP based edits for the short term until KF calms down with their edit wars.

near, also known as byuu, full byuu san (real name David Kirk Ginder; born February 21, 1983), was a non-binary furry fan, writer and software developer from the United States who lived in Arakawa, Tokyo, Japan.

Biography
Being non-binary, near identified themselves as they/them, with a INTJ-T personality, preferring to keep to their own spaces, generally not reaching out first to others, and mostly working on projects by themselves (although working at their best with friends around).<ref>About Near page on the Near's Respite website. near was a C++ programmer with 23 years of experience whose specialty was reverse engineering hardware and software. near's eponymous fursona is a fuzzy dragon/cat hybrid with white wings, dark-gray hair and blue eyes.

On their last social post on June 27th, near made the point that, as of late, Kiwi Farms had upped the ante:
{{q|The honest truth is, I've been bullied, ridiculed, and humiliated my entire life. From my earliest grade school memories to now. It's always hurt me deeply enough that I can't describe it in words. I could only just tolerate it with heavy depression when it was 4chan.

But Kiwi Farms has made the harassment orders of magnitude worse. It's escalated from attacking me for being autistic, to attacking and doxing my friends, and trying to suicide bait another, just to get a reaction from me. I lost one of my best friends to this. I feel responsible

I can't handle this anymore. I have tried everything. I have taken every medication available. I have tried multiple therapists. I have tried closing myself off from the world. It doesn't help at all. Every night I am filled with panic attacks and dread and worry (...).<ref>But Kiwi Farms has made the harassment orders of magnitude worse. post on Twitter. Héctor Martín Cantero later announced he had confirmed near's death with the police. Near

Musdetektiven: Removed inference theory promoted by Kiwi Farms that near faked suicide, posted summary of events verbatim and references from Wikipedia citing confirmation by employer of suicide. Updated verb tense accordingly

Musdetektiven: /* "Some people say..." */

"Some people say..."
"In early January 2022, rumors emerged...". No, could you start with "X was arrested for (crime[s]) by (American city)'s police department on (date) following a (time length) investigation by..." at minimum. This reads like an article in a teenage magazine, not an LEO report. Use a Wikifur article that has the same crime committed by a user, what happened to him/her/them, and final conclusion/sentencing (on how to format this information).

Nope, I'm not asking you to take this down, only that it has to be more professionally presented/edited with good, strong references. Please don't "insinuate and bolt away". - Spirou (talk) 09:16, 12 June 2022 (EDT)

:Thanks for the feedback. I had largely based the style on the Lucky Coyote related pages given how chronologically close it was and similar topics, although the lead-in text of rumors is based on fact (it's referenced in the Naia thread which was referenced, although not with a ref tag on that particular sentence) and in the Twitter Space. I agree though that the opener should have been better referenced from the onset rather than refining references live over the course of a week, so I've removed it. I have no intention to "insinuate and bolt away" as per my original commit description to the Wiki page to further improve the page, especially given the pre-existing warnings that there are missing references. As proof, I've updated outdated and missing info. --Musdetektiven (talk) 14:46, 12 June 2022 (EDT)

::This is still not reading like an "actual crime" was committed, just stupid like-behavior, and that does not merit a "Controversy" section, especially the way it is worded right now (Hard Drama vs Tenous Fact).

::As with a few other user articles in the past, no matter how stupid the person behaves, and/or what they say in the worst possible manner, unless it is criminal in intent towards an individual in the fandom ("I will kill you, I will rape you, I will (X) you..." etc) is not "deed", just "thought".

::So, right now is more of an "annoyance" that the user exists, not that they actually perpetrated any crime(s)... And is Wikifur that would first accused of doxxing this individual for hosting these statement(s). - Spirou (talk) 15:15, 12 June 2022 (EDT)

:::Naia at the very least violated Twitter bylaws by posting private geographical information (state of residence, name of hospital Sappho was allegedly admitted to), and meets several conditions for US federal statutes under evidence tampering such as publicly posting knowing that evidence of illegal actions taken by Sappho had been submitted to the FBI for investigation and that Naia believed Sappho engaged in illegal activity on Matrix. I can better cite and highlight the bylaws and statutes alongside Naia quotes from the Twitter thread to better inform of the legal issues at hand to contextualize the doxxing. If you believe the facts don't warrant a "Controversy" section it sounds like the facts and first-party testimony references would be best moved to the general "History" section. I will look into doing so in the near future. In the future please use proper nouns to better reference the subject of your sentence when dealing with multiple subjects; you say "THE user [of Twitter?] exists", but it's unclear if you're referring to Naia or Sappho... but maybe it's just my English is really bad. WikiFur to my knowledge does not host private info pertaining to either Naia or Sappho and thus is not at risk of violating it, and WikiFur certainly does not have anything "criminal in intent". --Musdetektiven (talk) 16:54, 12 June 2022 (EDT)
