I'm Roku, I'm 15 years old and awhile ago I joined this wiki and left shortly after. I believe that was a year or two ago. Anyway, I should be back for good now and I'll be a pretty good contributor.

Since I'm confined to my house and parents as of now, I can't do much related to the fandom yet (for my parents are the strict "NO WEIRD THINGS ALOUD" kind) but as soon as I'm 18 I'm getting an apartment with a friend of mine who attends my school (he's a furry too but doesn't contribute to WikiFur yet) I'll start fursuiting and going to cons and such. The '''Furry Plateau''' is a location in Teen [[Second Life]].

The Furry Plateau has experienced many location changes, and is owned and operated by [[Reggie Clifton]], [[Inuyasha Overlord]], [[Phox Sillanpaa]], and [[Nicelus Borrelly]]. [[Wolfy Fielding]] also helped fund the project for over a year, however after returning from his 'permanent' ban, it was clear that he was not trusted or even considered an owner, as he was refused to be given the title of 'Founder' and until now was even omitted from this page.

It is the oldest known furry community on the Teen Grid, running for over four years.

On February 5th 2009, Furry Plateau began its build up on the Main Grid of Second Life. It remains totally PG, and no "Bits or Bobbers" are allowed upon it. Other than that hardly any strict rules are placed upon visitors wanting to enjoy themselves.

:You're right - it's not as easily seen that way. However, I tried that to start with, and I thought that it spoiled the look somewhat when it is was put there, because the Did you know? section gets shifted down one (the uneven headers look bad).

:It does give me an idea, though. Originally, we had a "wanted pages" section below the new bar, and above. It got removed because stuff was staying on there too long and it was a pain to update. Still, it was in a good place for attention.

:How about we put all of the furpile articles into an expanded "To be improved" category (maybe just by asking people to write a very short stub of them and putting it in stubs), and then use the [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/DynamicPageList DynamicPageList extension] (already installed) and a [http://alistapart.com/articles/taminglists/ modified list style] to display it in a similar way to the other lists? The number of people with the same last name is very small, and those that are related to one another will usually link to each other (and since wiki is not paper, you don't have to turn lots of pages to get there). Therefore, it seems better to consistently sort by their well-known first name rather than by a last name which they may or may not have, and which people may or may not know.

:::All other categories are sorted in this manner, so that means we have a self-consistent categorization system. It also happens to make the lives of editors easier, as they don't have to add reordering tags to 1500+ pages about people (and you know people would forget, or not know how to do it, resulting in pages that are ordered incorrectly).

:::The main place in which it seems sensible to reorder is when part of their "name" is an honorific, like [[Uncle Kage]] - people would probably expect to find him sorted under Kage rather than Uncle, especially since his "real" nickname is Kagemushi Goro. Among registering, a player receives a personal avatar to customize that represents them in the virtual world. All the features are fully alterable and can be shaped and resized almost like clay. Additionally, there are many player-made accessories for one to dress their avatar up with. "Body parts" can also be made, which includes things like anthropomorphic features such as tails, pointy ears, animal heads, paws, ect. Most furries apart of Second Life have these kinds of avatars.

On September 8th 2006, Linden Lab reported via a security bulletin (which was also emailed to all SL users) that the servers holding player account information had been attacked using a zero-day exploit. According to Linden Lab, this attack on the servers may have begun as early as September 3rd and they only noticed an increase in activity on the 6th which they then quickly locked out. Their investigation showed that the attack allowed a significant amount of customer account information to be downloaded such as credit card numbers, PayPal transaction ID's, real life names, Second Life names, account passwords, and contact information.

As part of their effort to improve the security of their servers, Linden Lab had invalidated the passwords (assuming they were already compromised) of all Second Life users and has required said users to reset their passwords. Linden Lab further mentioned that while the compromised payment information was encrypted, no encryption is unbreakable given enough time and computing power. They had thus stated that if any SL user believed themselves to be the victim of credit card fraud, they (the user) should contact their credit card company.

The [[furry fandom]] has a major presence in Second Life, with multiple areas devoted to providing accommodation, entertainment and creative services specifically for members of the furry community. Luskwood consists of parts of 4 simulators, approximately 99% of Perry, 70% of Lusk, most of Clara, and a bit of Tehama. It is considered the largest PG "furry-themed area", currently over 130,000 square meters in size. Of note is the fact that Luskwood stresses that non-furry residents are welcome in Luskwood at all times, and often it hosts non-furry and general access events on their land. Luskwood is first and foremost a "park and nature preserve"; its founders being furry is mainly coincidental and its status as a furry centerpiece is mainly honorary, as the furry theme was never part of its original charter. Luskwood is also currently the oldest known resident created, themed mainland build in Second Life.

Luskwood also runs [[Luskwood Creatures]], the builders of some of the first [[anthropomorphic]] [[avatar|avatars]] in Second Life (beginning in SL 1.0). Over 40,000 Luskwood avatars have been sold, and more types continue to be added. They are also the creators of the [[Jogauni]] species, an avatar with RPG elements and a mythical lore. Destroy!]] is an example of a site primarily catering to a general dislike of current furry fans and fandom. The reasons given for their behavior run the gamut from true harassment to just getting a few people together to laugh at the reaction of certain furries to provoking [[drama]].
