MelSkunk: Update on lack of Plan Nine website/business at this time

'''Plan Nine Publishing''' is a small publishing company that publishes various different webcomics in book format. It was started by [[David Allen]] in 1996 with the publication of the first ''[[Kevin and Kell]]'' volume. Since then, it has grown to include other comics, including ''[[Faux Pas]]'', ''[[Newshounds]]'', ''[[Ozy and Millie]]'' and ''[[Suburban Jungle]]''. As of April 2008, the website states: "Plan Nine has gone on hiatus for re-tooling and transition to new owners." The stated return was projected to be September 2008.

==Controversy==
Plan Nine has been criticized by ''Ozy and Millie'' author [[D.C. Simpson]] for alleged extended non-payment of royalties.<ref>''[http://rain-luong.livejournal.com/179772.html Money. Iguanto Iguana

2007-10-12T21:56:19Z

MelSkunk: Went over this, cleaned it up, and tried to convert it to more fluent English.

'''Andres Chung''' is a [[furry artist]] who lives in [[Wikipedia:San Antonio, Texas|San Antonio, Texas, United States]]. He was born on October 20, 1987, and graduated [http://www.saisd.net/SCHOOL/007/inde/index.html Thomas Jefferson High School].

His artistic endeavors started when he was in the 6th grade when he attended [http://www.saisd.net/SCHOOL/mid/050/050.shtm Longfellow Middle School]. However, he had never drawn himself as a distinct character. Previously, when he was in [http://www.saisd.net/SCHOOL/elem/139/139.shtm Huppertz Elementary School], he had drawn himself as a bear similar to the children's book [http://www.amazon.com/Brown-Bear-What-You-See/dp/0805047905 Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?].

Although he has no formal art training, Andres has been drawing for about 5 or 6 years, relying on books for art reference. He can draw artwork from a general to mature rating. His current project is the [[webcomic]] ''[[The Anthroness]]'', which currently only has a handful of completed strips.

He works on perfecting his skill in different media, such as digital coloring, markers and pencils. He is also studying the use of and shadows and lighting.

Andres also offers auctions/commissions on [[Furbuy]] and his personal website.

In 2007, after his graduation, he will attend [http://www.accd.edu/sac/ San Antonio College].

On September 15, 2007, Andres retired his original [[fursona]] Dragonmorph to work on a new [[iguana]] [[fursona]] and other new [[reptile]]s.

== [[Fursona]] ==
[[Image:Iguanto-art2007.jpg|left|200 px|Iguanto Iguana]]

'''Iguanto''' is a 4 feet tall [[iguana]] who wants to become a porno artist and pornographer. He was born in somewhere in South Texas. He lives with 8 females and 4 [[Hermaphrodite|hermaphrodites]] reptiles in their big Exotic [[Reptile]] Mansion. Owned and founded by himself, it's like a better version of the Playboy Mansion. He sold millions of his posters and artworks online and at any furry conventions in United States. He takes photos of his girls and herms in erotic poses and shows it online, as well as with himself and those girls. He's the only male [[reptile]] in the mansion.

==== Playmates ====

[[Image:Alisa-alliga-art-by-iguanto.jpg|left|200px|Alisa Alliga]]
'''Alisa Alliga''' is a [[hermaphrodite]] red and black hair [[alligator]]. Sie was born in [[Wikipedia:Orlando, Florida|Orlando, Florida]] and lives at hir [[Wikipedia:swamp|swamp]]. When she was about 15 years old, radioactive waste was poured on her by insane teenagers, and then the next day in the morning, sie transformed into a herm. But, sie was happy, as sie could now have sex solely with women. 9 years later sie moved to Texas where sie found the perfect place at the Exotic Reptile Mansion. After sie joined, Iguanto asked hir if sie wanted to become a porno star, and sie accepted.

[[Image:Auvisty-hornda-art-by-iguanto.jpg|left|200px|Auvisty Hornda]]
'''Auvisty Hornda''' is a [[Wikipedia:Punk subculture|punk]] [[Wikipedia:horned lizard| horned lizard]] girl. She was born in the Texas Desert and lives with her friends. 3 years ago she became a punk lizard, listening to her favorite heavy metal music, watching porno movies, and have sex with men. After she was kicked out of her state for her loudest music, she checked the newspaper to find her place to stay, and found the greatest place to stay at the big Exotic Reptile Mansion. She asked Iguanito to stay with him and he accepted. Quickly she signed her contract, and he asked her if she wanted to become a porno star and have her photos sold online. So then, she said, "''YES! I WILL LOVE TO BECOME A PORNO STAR!''" The only thing she wears is her gothic thong or other sexy gothic clothes.

'''Clarissa Anacodi''' is a big and tall [[hermaphrodite]] [[Wikipedia:anaconda|anaconda]]. Sie was born in [[Wikipedia:Mexico City, Mexico|Mexico City, Mexico]] at the woods full of anaconda family. Everybody knows sie is the baddest [[snake]] they've ever seen, at the age of 14, sie was doing a lot bad things at school and at home. Hir parents ordered hir to stop it, as they couldn't take it anymore. Right now, sie moved to America and found that place called The Exotic Reptile Mansion. Sie asked Iguanto (owner and founder of his place) if sie could stay with them for the rest of hir life and he's accepted. Iguanto asked hir to be a porno star just like his playmates that he likes taking photos of and posting on the web and selling prints/posters. So, sie'd like to be a porno star just like his playmates. But sie's to big to fit at any room, so Iguanto's taken hir to the biggiest room that sie could find.

Right now, she moved to Texas where she found the perfect place called The Exotic Reptile Mansion. She told Iguanto that she wanted to become a porno star for cash just like his playmates and he accepted. She signed her contract and he gave her a perfect pond room. After she saw her money from her porn work, she wanted to stay forever.

'''Drew Seaturla''' is a [[hermaphrodite]] [[Wikipedia:Waitress|waitress]] [[Wikipedia:sea turtle|sea turtle]], Sie worked at many [[Wikipedia:restaurant|restaurant]]s and become known as the sexiest waitress. When she was 23 years old, sie quit hir job and move to Texas, where sie found the greatest place sie could stay. Sie spoke to Iguanto, telling him that sie wanted to stay with his playmates and become an erotic star and he's accepted hir. As well as being a popular porn stat, she works as the Mansion's [[Wikipedia:French maid|frenchmaid]].

== The Mansion ==

The main room is about 13 1/2 feet wide and 10 feet tall and it's has 3 kitchens, 5 bathrooms, a home theater, game room, outdoor swimming pool, 2 strip rooms (where Iguanto enjoys watching the playmates strip dance on stage), studio room (where Iguanto takes pictures and draws his playmates), a big room for Clarissa Anacodi, a swamp room for Alisa Alliga, 20 or 25 other rooms, and Iguanto's local office room.

== Communities ==
Andres first joined [[deviantART]] in 2002 when his father allowed him to have a computer in his room. Right after he set up his account, he quickly uploaded 236 images. In 2004, he left DA and swore to never join again.

From 2005 to present, he has accounts on [[Fur Affinity]], [[Jaxpad]], [[Furverts]], and more. He says he feels that 'nobody in the whole world love his artworks or didn't say anything about his artwork. But, he will continue on his drawings, so everybody will love his artworks.'{{fact}} He'd like to draw his favorite artists' characters for trades, commissions, or requests.

Hermaphrodite

2007-01-10T23:57:09Z

MelSkunk: Reverted edits by 207.200.116.14 (Talk); changed back to last version by Sine

{{NPOV}}
By definition, a '''hermaphrodite''' is any of those who exhibit primary sexual organs of both sexes. However, within the [[furry fandom]], a hermaphrodite is often represented as an overtly female figure with both male and female primary sexual characteristics. There is a thin line in the fandom between herms and shemales, even though the latter does not meet the above-mentioned criteria.

== Variations ==

There are two other varieties of herms found within the fandom, the male-herm and the androgynous herm. Both of these are rare, though the majority of these characters that do exist are species to which appearing male or androgynous is a predisposition, such as [[dragons]].

The common concept of a hermaphrodite is that they are overly active sexually. While they are overtly sexual figures within the fandom, there are many who are either inactive, or have much deeper reasons for portraying a hermaphroditic character than any kind of sexual fascination.

Although it is common in fandom to shorten "hermaphrodite" to "herm," the abbreviation demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of the term. It is formed by a combination of the names of the Greek gods Hermes and Aphrodite, the former being in many ways the epitome of the Greek ideal male just as Aphrodite symbolized the best of the well-rounded female.

== Art ==

Hermaphrodites are not a ''very'' common subject of [[furry art]], however several artists have delved into the subject matter, some even specialising in it.

One famous artist (or infamous, depending on your view) who specializes in herms of extraordinary proportions is [[Doug Winger]], whose creations have spawned terms such as ''Winger Girls'', ''Wingeresque'' and ''[[Wingerized]]''.

While Winger is one who will come up in many discussions, many artists such as [[FoxxFire]], Orena, [[Marc Leonhardt]], [[AraKaraath]], and countless others have done works that depict herms ranging from busty babes with manly bulges to the truly androgynous creatures.

== Places ==

Herms can be found in quite a few areas throughout the fandom, including [[hermsyiff]] on [[FurNet (IRC)]], the [[Hermaphrodite Haven]] and [[Garden of Eden]] of [[FurryMUCK]], [[yiffy.net]] and the like-named location on [[Tapestries MUCK]]. Some have been spotted on [[Second Life]] as well.
Herms appear in many art sites such as the [[VCL]], [[FurAffinity]], [[SheezyArt]], and [http://www.futanari.org/ futanari.org] to name a few.

MelSkunk: wikifur font

Hi there, Quotingmungo - welcome to WikiFur! Thanks for creating the [[Paladins' Haven]] article; [[User talk:GreenReaper|let me know]] if you need any [[help]] not already provided. :-) --{{UT|GreenReaper}} 04:49, 10 Dec 2005 (UTC)

== Yiff ==

Do you have a reference for that usage? The only other mention I can find is at SerieWikie, which does not appear to reference it either. I'm worrying that someone just made it up. --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 21:25, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

:Looks like a backronym to me. [http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=yiff] [http://groups.google.com/group/alt.fan.furry/msg/b04c55f39aaf392f] [[User:SpazKitty|Spaz Kitty]] 21:47, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

::Could be either, it got thrown out in a discussion about the origins of the term somewhere (yay, Internet chatboards and boredom!) a while back. If you feel it's inappropriate, it's hardly a dear piece of text to me. Can either be removed or developed into a "some people also claim" type thing, for all I care. :P Seeing as I've seen two or three different people credited with coining the word, I would consider this theory as likely as any, is all. --[[User:Quotingmungo|quoting_mungo]] 22:06, 23 August 2006 (UTC)

== Other-Language Wikis ==

We've talked before about a possible Swedish-language furry wiki. It is likely that I will find myself with a good chunk of free time (or at least that what free time I have won't be eaten up by pesky things like take-home schoolwork) in a month or so - would it still be of interest that I go ahead and request the wiki to be made? (Last we discussed it on LJ, I kind of got heaped with massive amounts of Stuff soon afterwards, unfortunately.) I could probably get [[Ricadonna]] to link it from the [[SveaFur]] homepage as well, so that there'd be at least a few contributors more or less guaranteed. --[[User:Quotingmungo|quoting_mungo]] 15:13, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
:Someone needs to learn to think before she talks. I also meant to ask if you have a preference for a Wikia-hosted wiki (would it help with organization, for instance?) or if it could be privately hosted for all you care? I know the host I plan on moving to makes it ridiculously simple to install a wiki, so if it's all the same to you that might be a better route, as that also eliminates the ads? I'm just disorganized today, sorry. --[[User:Quotingmungo|quoting_mungo]] 15:29, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
::I'd still be very interested in seeing more furry wikis in different languages. As the one who intends to do the work to found the wiki, it's up to you to decide where it should be. :-) I think Wikia is a good choice for those who don't want to be dealing with server-side issues or costs. If you believe that the technical ability to start and maintain the wiki software is available (whether you or they can provide it), and if you are sure that the hosting will be maintained, then there's no problem with hosting it anywhere. For various reasons, I felt it was suitable for the English language furry wiki to be here, but it doesn't mean others have to. We can link back and forth wherever you are. --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 16:23, 8 November 2006 (UTC)

Hi Quotingmungo, I have noticed you have been correcting and improving my Extinctioners character related pages, thanks a lot for your help, I appreciate you effort, I also would like to know (in your opinion) if you think there are any ways to further improve them? Thanks again - [[User:RVDDP2501|RVDDP2501]] 17:44, 17 November 2006 (UTC)
:No problem, I'm actually mostly avoiding writing my final essay for uni. ;) One thing to watch out for when you grab information from Mr. Howard's site is that you make sure to convert the first person perspective to something more objective. I'd clean things up more, but I can't do much beyond wording since I haven't had the opportunity to check out Extinctioners so far. Maybe next time I make it to a con, I'll get the chance... --[[User:Quotingmungo|quoting_mungo]] 18:36, 17 November 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I realised I hadn't replied to you question regarding the font I used for the wikifur logo. I hadn't because at this point, I don't know if Green Reaper wants other people to have similar logos to wikifur, and I haven't been able to ask him. If you find out if he's okay with that, I'd be happy to pass along the font. -- [[User:MelSkunk|MelSkunk]] 16:03, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

'''Micah Fennec''' (previously known as '''Kitsune25''') is an [[artist]] known for her broad tastes in [[erotica]] and fine anatomy skills. Her [[VCL]] archive reflects her high rate of productivity, and features her [[character]]s Trevor the [[Chinchilla]] and Micah the [[Fennec]] boy. She often attends [[Further Confusion]] to sell originals and sometimes offers commissions on the spot. She almost always accepts commissions via email, and has an extremely small list of off-limit categories in drawings compared to many other artists.

AGNPH

[[Image:Agnph shot.png|right|thumb|150px|Screenshot of AGNPH's Gallery (June 17th. 2006)]]
'''AGNPH''' is a an archive of mature artwork and stories relating to the ''[[Pokémon]]'' series of [[:Category:Video games|video games]] and [[:Category:Television series|television shows]]. Its name stands for '''alt.games.nintendo.pokemon.hentai''', the [[:Category:Newsgroups|newsgroup]] from which it was originally formed.

**'''New AGNPH Archive:''' 11 December 2003 - present (designed by [[DrGamez]])

As of 17 March 2006, the gallery contained 5,524 files, 30,981 comments, and 369 albums, while the story archive contained the works of around 400 authors.

== IRC channel ==

The #agnph irc channel is currently found on their own network.

<nowiki>#</nowiki>agnph was founded on Undernet in late 1999. In 2000 it was moved to Esper, which would be its "home" for the longest block of time so far. In 2004 [[DrGamez]] revived the chatroom as well as the website, moving it to Furnet for a short time; by late 2004 the chatroom was moved back to Esper, after [[Psyco_Charmander]] managed to obtain founder status from [[Saber]]. On July 3, 2005 #agnph was moved from Esper to its new, permanent home on their own server (irc.agnph.com).

[[Psyco_Charmander]] is the current Network Administrator, inheriting the #agnph channel on Esper from [[Saber]].

== History ==
The original AGNPH Archive was proposed to the group on 03/11/99 and first opened on 03/16/99.

The site was created for those who could not access the actual group, as in those early days there were many on [[AGFFH]] who could not get there, but wanted to see the images, so the Archive was created for them, as well as for those who could get to the group, but may miss posts for one reason or another.

The Original Archive was designed and maintained solely by [[Racso]].

The Archive was originally created just for the binary posts, but as since become a home to AGNPH's binaries, stories, and even stories and images submitted directly to the site, that never even see the light of the actual group.

Late 2003, [[Lando]] and [[Psyco_Charmander]] approached [[DrGamez]] with an idea to re-open the AGNPH. Having some free space on his then limited hosting [[DrGamez]] decided to design and host the website. The first incarnation was quite crude when compared to other websites or even the current form of the archive now. The stories' archive was hand updated by [[Lando]], which included a very lengthy and non-streamlined process. The gallery then was running off [http://gallery.menalto.com/ Gallery], a crude and simple photo management system.

[[Image:Agnph12.gif|right|thumb|100px|AGNPH Comic illustrating their early problems.]]While this worked for the first few months soon [[DrGamez]] began to realize his simple shared hosting was not going to be enough. Soon the dreaded 509 Errors (Bandwidth overage) began to appear every other day, crippling the quickly growing website.

It was at this time the admins were looking around for different hosting options. [[Racso]] of the original AGNPH archive had gotten in contact with the current operators, offering them not only agnph.com (they were using .net until now) but also plenty of bandwidth and space to house the quickly growing archive.

After a few days of downtime AGNPH.com was finally up and running on new hardware, sporting near a terabyte of free bandwidth to burn. It was at this time the [http://www.agnph.com/oekaki/ oekaki] was put back in the website, drawing a smaller section of users to contribute in a different way.

Now freed from the financial burden of hosting AGNPH [[DrGamez]] was more able to promote the website. Starting with a few small contests ranging from story writing to full art contests the prizes were handed out to anyone who entered and won. Ranging from video games, to iPods, and even [[Zeta Creations]] toys the contests were always an attraction to the website.

[[Image:Something agnpawful.gif|left|thumb|100px|SA's ALOD]]
On March 28, 2005, [[Something Awful]] picked up on AGNPH, featuring it on their news-page as an Awful Link of the Day ([http://www.somethingawful.com/index.php?a=2762 link]). This caused a very large rush of new users, most of them SA Goons looking to just cause problems within the website. While no damage was really done it did give AGNPH a good amount of free promotion, pushing it's bandwidth usage to about 300gb/month.

A period of steady constant growth followed after [[Something Awful]]'s influx of users. Bringing in new artists and authors the page was soon becoming a well known furry archive, especially when linked from [[Yiffstar]], their biggest referrer to date.

Early 2006 brought another problem to AGNPH. [[Racso]] (the current host of AGNPH's server) was having financial problems and let [[DrGamez]] know soon his generous hosting would have to be ending. Letting the community know of the problem [[DrGamez]] advised users save all images and stories they might want, unsure of the future of the website. This of course spiked up the bandwidth usage, causing a flood of users and spiking up the bandwidth usage to it's highest peak in 2005. Realizing the site was going to disappear if nothing was done [[DrGamez]] realized he would have to pick up the bill. In a very smooth transition he moved AGNPH from [[Racso]]'s server over to his own. Many users were a bit confused and to this date may not even realize the servers have moved.

The AGNPH of current day is now maintained on the new server by [[DrGamez]], with all of the behind the scenes work such as setting up the IRC and various services around the website being handled by [[Eevee]]. With no major plans on the horizon AGNPH shouldn't be looking at many more problems or server changes in the near future.

Dr. Comet

2006-06-22T04:21:14Z

MelSkunk: Reverted edits by HelloThar (Talk); changed back to last version by Mindspillage

'''Dr. Comet''' ('''Hitoshi Natsume''') is a talented graphical artist, famous for his adult-oriented [[kemono]] artwork (with subjects such as ''[[Bagi]]'' and [[Krystal]] of ''[[Star Fox]]''). He has done professional art for videogames such as [[Kessen]] and [[Suikoden]], and has done full-length strips and cover art for the erotic [[furry]] [[comic]], ''[[Genus]]''.

His works are usually available on CDs and are bought from his own online web page. Although the page is written with some english on it, the artist himself doesn't speak it, as evidenced by how much of his website is written in japanese. It also has stopped taking commission orders from residents outside his own country due to the inability for him to make sense of what is being said, though this statement is not entirely true since he apparently still takes orders for his art CDs.

MelSkunk: Cats costume photo question

Re [[Crossroads MUCK]], I'm of the belief that the more information the better, particularly for a place that's closed. I suggest a Former staff (or some such title) would be worth having, and keeping Alyssa's name under there. Perhaps something similar under characters: Characters as of 2005, and Past characters? I'm not familiar with Crossroads myself--I just dig through Google and things--so I wouldn't be able to sort them out, but if you have the knowledge, well! -- [[User:Sine|Sine]] 00:57, 26 February 2006 (UTC)

I saw that [[Ricadonna]] had been banned for 'assisting vandalism' - all I saw was a 'is this loli?' edit that was removed a few minutes later...does that really constitute half a year's worth of being banned? o.O --- Never mind, I just saw that you shortened the ban. [[User:SpazKitty|Spaz Kitty]]
:It was shortened carefully. I have an apprehensive attitude about it. Considering that it was very minor and may have been just a mistype or whatever, a six month span would've probably been a bad idea. Two hours was small enough for me, despite feeling apprehensive about the entire thing. ----[[User:Markus|Markus]]([[User talk:Markus|talk]]) 20:42, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

== [[:Category:Babyfurs]] ==

''From [[User talk:Skippyfox]]:''

Not trying to be pretentious, but you removed the babyfur category for 'privacy', but your talk page mentions it often, and the links to art of SkippyFox show him as a babyfur...wouldn't you have to remove all of this in order to have this kept 'private'? [[User:SpazKitty|Spaz Kitty]]

:Talk pages are talk pages, used mostly in the development of wiki articles, and people should feel free to discuss things on them. Pages ''about'' users are a "public face" on their life. They have different audiences and therefore may contain differing content. Obviously, someone can come on here and make the deduction, if they choose to do so. However, putting a category tag on is a rather bigger thing, as it is essentially advertising it to anyone who comes across that page, or that category page.

:My personal feeling (which I was just about to put on the appropriate [[Category talk:Babyfurs|talk page]]) is that it might be appropriate to only have people add that category to the article about them themselves. It has different meanings to different people, and while they may consider themselves one, they may not wish others to consider them one in a different context. Or, they may just view it as a personal detail.

:If I were a member of the group, I might prefer to let people who want to know more about me as a person to find out, but not encourage people who were crusing through the Babyfurs category looking for people to mess with. I'd also rather not have us remove everything that could suggest the association just to satisfy the wish of not being categorized. --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 22:47, 12 June 2006 (UTC)

Cats

2006-06-17T18:49:44Z

MelSkunk: Made note of "Cat" article for disambig.

''This article refers to the musical '''Cats'''. For information about the cat, see [[Cat]]''

Cats is the title of a musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber, and currently holds the record for the longest running performance on [[wikipedia:Broadway|Broadway]].

Fans of the musical overlap somewhat into the fandom, and to a relatively small extent, costumes based on or styled after those in the musical can be found at conventions, halloween parties, and the like. Such costumers however are somewhat ubiquitous, as there is seemingly only a slight overlap: not all furs are fans of the musical or the costumes, and not all Cats fans necessarily identify as furs for one reason or another.

It is also interesting to note that the style of costume - a [[wikipedia:unitard|unitard]], almost always hand painted with fur patterns, and added accoutrements such as fur, gauntlets, and leg warmers - has extended quite naturally to other [[phenotype]]s, and does not restrict itself strictly to felines. Shadow Vixen, for instance, has styled a fox that is based more or less on the costumes (and in fact has a few more such that she has developed), and Leinir has designed a black wolf after this.

[[Image:貓鍋.jpg|150px|thumb|right|Young kittens are always full of surprises.]]
A '''cat''' ''generally'' refers to a common domestic cat (''Felis sylvestris catus''). However, it is also used as a generic term for any [[feline]] or member of the family [[wikipedia:Felidae|Felidae]]. Housecats are the [[List of most popular phenotypes|5th most popular phenotype]] of members of [[Pounced.org]].

About 40 different breeds of domestic cat have been officially recognised. There are a very few breeds founded through [[hybrid]]s of domestic cats and another felines species. As house pets, cats often live in arrangements rivaling their human owners for control of living spaces.

Cats are also a staple of pop culture, from [[comics]] to television. In animated cartoons, [[anthropomorphic]] versions of cats often participate in the story with central speaking roles.

Temporary Random Morph

The '''Temporary Random Morph''' or '''TRaM''' was a [[MUF]] program intended to be used as a way to change a [[MUCK]] character into something else, usually for a short period of time. It was created by [[Neikrad]] of [[FurryMUCK]].

Famous [[FurryMUCK]] objects that made use of TRaM were the [[Toon Capacitor]], the [[Fox Box]] and the [[Vixen Vending Machine]].

Other [[MUCK]]s known to use TRaM include [[SPR]] and [[Altered Realities]].

Do Not Post

2006-01-29T15:43:41Z

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by Spirou

A '''Do Not Post''' list (affectionately referred to as a '''DNP''') is an implementation of an idea designed to be a middle ground between artists' copyright rights, and the desire of fans to share their work.

As the name implies, the "Do Not Post" list, normally on the front page of an "open" [[furry]] archive such as [[Fchan]], consists of a bulletin, compiled by the site's admins, with the names of artists who do not wish to allow their work to be posted and shared amongst the users. Based on a "honor" system, it is enforced by willing administrators, and often circumvented by a small group of fans that feel "they deserve" such art to be posted.

On Fchan, the DNP It is enforced by [[Sage Nadia]], [[Xenofur]] and [[Raven]], with "user banning" the result of continuos, repeated violations. To date the DNP on Fchan has been the most succesful of the DNPs, allowing some artists the right to exercise their copyright while allowing others the right to allow free distribution. The intentional lack of a DNP list was a controversial issue for another open gallery, [[ChanPlz]], with discussions pro and con about the merits of the idea.

There is a small exception to this rule, with some artists on such lists not allowing their work to be posted in such archives by third parties, but happy enough to post it themselves.

Deer

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by Siege

A '''[[Wikipedia:Cervine|cervine]]''', or '''cervid''' is a being, generally considered [[anthropomorphic]], possessed of features usually ascribed to terrestrial deer and related creatures. The more conventional meaning is a reference to such features in terrestrial lifeforms.

The actual word "cervine" means "deer", and this family of [[ungulate]]s includes white-tailed deer, reindeer, and even moose. Male cervines typically have antlers, which are grown and shed in a yearly cycle of territory, dominance, and mating. Some females are anomalous, producing enough testosterone to also grow antlers; these antlers tend to be smaller. Such females are unlikely to participate in territorial aggression, as child-rearing is still one of their primary concerns.

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by Dmuth

[[Image:Playfur.jpg|right|Playfur]]
'''''Playfur''''' was a website showing covers of a fictitious magazine based on the look of [[Wikipedia:Playboy (magazine)|Playboy magazine]]. The covers all use pictures of nude or semi-nude [[furry]] [[female]]s in poses that were often suggestive but never explicit. The covers also included fictitious article titles; neither the articles nor the magazine itself actually existed.

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by GreenReaper

'''Double Z Studios''' is the movie studio owned by [[Zig Zag]]. Although it is primarily a pornography studio, stories and [[comic]]s have indicated that Zig Zag has attempted other types of stories there.

Many [[furs]] work there, including [[Darke Katt]] (actress and janitor), [[Max Blackrabbit]] (unknown), [[Roxikat]] (actress), [[Sabrina]] (graphic designer), [[Sheila Vixen]] (actress), and of course, its owner and star Zig Zag.

Double Z Studios has featured heavily in the comic [[Sabrina Online]], as well as having cameos in certain other webcomics. It also a commonly used setting in various [[SabrinaVerse]] stories, where in addition to the above, some of the more frequently mentioned employees include [[Marvin Badger]] (second-in-command) and his wife [[Rhonda Badger|Rhonda]] (actress), [[Wanda the Vixen]] (actress/model), [[Lilian Bartholomew]] (receptionist and costume designer) and [[Clarence Skunk]] (go-fer).

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by Sebkha

'''Centaurs Gatherum''' was started in the 1980s by [[Ed Pegg]] and was a digest-sized publication devoted entirely to [[centaur]]s. It featured a lot of early artwork by [[Terrie Smith]], [[Quinton Hoover]] and [[Donna Barr]], as well as dozens of other furry and fantasy artists. It sometimes featured artwork and storyline concurrent with [[Barr Wars]]. After about a decade [[Ed Pegg]] turned the magazine over to [[Victor Wren]], who released a few new issues before ceasing publication.

Moonbase Comics

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by GreenReaper

'''Moonbase Comics''' is a webportal created from the ashes of the defunct [[Pandora Comics]], established with the same basic purpose and features in mind.

== The Story So Far ==

After realizing he wasn't really ready to throw in the towel yet, [[Oren Otter]] set up Moonbase to provide a central hub for most of the comics which had appeared on Pandora or Ottercomics before. Some of his projects such as [[Amanda]] and [[Otter Island]] have been placed on the back burner, and a page for projects such as these was created called [[Eclipse Comics]]. Another page, [[Orbiter Comics]], was created for those comic strips whose creators are not particularly interested in taking on the responsibilities associated with membership in ''Moonbase''. The crossword and maze features have been relegated to ''Crater Games and Features''.

Any comic artist not listed through another major webcomic listing service may join Moonbase, but must be willing to contribute, as Moonbase is meant to be a meaningful community.

Sonic the Hedgehog (franchise)

2006-01-29T15:42:48Z

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by Kattywampus

'''Sonic the Hedgehog''' is a popular series of computer games by [[Wikipedia:SEGA|SEGA]], created in 1991 and starring a blue hedgehog called [[Sonic]] embroiled in constant battles against his nemesis/rival, Ivo Robotnik (aka Eggman). There have also been several spin-off cartoons and comics. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the furry community tends to be more interested in Sonic's sidekick, [[Tails (character)|Tails]], the two-tailed [[fox]], than Sonic himself! Other [[anthropomorphic]] characters from the games and associated media, like [[Princess Sally Acorn]], [[Bunnie Rabbot]] ([[Wikipedia:Bunnie Rabbot|see Wikipedia]]), [[Antoine D'Coolette]], [[Rotor J. Walrus]], [[Dulcy the dragon]], [[Princess Lupe Wolf]], [[Rouge]], [[Cream]], and many others, also tend to attract attention.

[[Yerf]] famously instituted a ban on all Sonic-inspired artwork after the archive was flooded with low-quality artwork related to the game.

Fanzine

2006-01-29T15:42:45Z

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by GreenReaper

A '''fanzine''' (or just '''zine''') is a regularly published magazine or book that uses artwork and stories submitted by members of the fandom itself versus a set group of paid contributors. Some fanzines do provide compensation to contributors in the form of nominal payments and free copies of the final product.

The term has a long and sometimes confusing history, other fandoms having different customs, but most will agree that fan-produced content is a vital element, and then continue disputing any proposed definition. Modern desktop publishing technology has made it more difficult to distinguish a fanzine from a commercial product by its physical characteristics. A fanzine should not be confused with [[Wikipedia:Vanity press|vanity publishing]].

Many fanzines are compilations of many different creative works which may or may not be based loosely around a central theme. Others include continuing stories chronicling events in one or more [[shared universe]]s.

Ratings on the content of fanzines can range from G to NC-17.

Fanzines may be obtained directly from the [[:Category:Publishers|publisher]], through stores like [[Rabbit Valley]] or [[Second Ed]], or at [[convention]]s in the [[dealers den]].

Khajiit

[[Image:Race khajiit.jpg|right]]The '''Khajiit''' are a race of [[cat]]-people from the [[Wikipedia:The Elder Scrolls|Elder Scrolls]] videogame series. They originate from the province of ''Elsweyr'', and vary greatly in appearance depending on which phases of the moons ''Masser'' and ''Secunda'' are present at birth. All breeds of Khajiit are typically very quick and agile, and some of them are also quite intelligent as well - this makes them naturally suited to the arts of thievery. They have a weakness for everything sweet (notably the drug known as ''skooma'', which is distilled from a substance called ''moon-sugar''), and are especially more prone to become drug-addicts compared to other races.

== Location and Description ==

The Treehouse (''[[teleport pattern|t secretmoon]]'') is located deep within the [[Northern Forest]] outside of [[Layleaux Town]], south of [[Whitefire]]'s mountain. It resides in an open grassy glade filled with mist and moonlight among the trees. It's a peaceful area, and young furs come from all over to play in and around the treehouse.

=== The Yard ===

The '''yard''' is the entrypoint for this area, holding the [[teleport pattern]] and links to other areas. There are usually anywhere from five to fifteen furs around at any one time - as Secret Moon is a popular "cruising" location, there is almost always someone coming or going. This can sometimes be distracting; groups typically move somewhere quieter, like the treehouse proper. One peculiarity of the yard and the surrounding area is that it's always lit by moonlight - something to do with the tree, no doubt.

=== The Tree and Basement ===

Originally, the mid and lower portions of the '''tree''' were merely hollowed out by natural means. Once the treehouse was discovered by Lori'Anne and its original occupants, things were improved. At ground level, there is a doorway which leads to a ladder carved directly into the wood that travels its entire internal length. Traveling up the ladder leads up to the treehouse built upon the trunk. Traveling downward, leads to a hidden '''basement''' which originaly housed a rather dark area. Since then, it has been converted from its prior function into a ball-pit, perfect for those days when you've really got nothing better to do than swim around in a sea of multicoloured plastic spheres. The ball pit is also accessible by way of a slide from the treehouse. It also contains various other instruments of play and leisure, and even a fridge of its own.

The original intention for the basement was to contain and house any of the more objectionable play. Over time, it was decided to redesign this area, since it conflicted with the ideal that the treehouse was meant to act as a safehaven for children, not bring harm to them.

=== Treehouse and Bathroom ===

The '''treehouse''' mainroom is the nominal hub of this area, although the yard is typically busier due to the traffic brought by the teleport pattern. Bedecked in multicoloured paint and ribbons, the room is filled with furniture from the '60s, including blowup chairs, pillows and lots and lots of beanbags. On the walls are toys of all kinds, to suit all tastes, including those who like to [[BDSM|play rough]].

A slide leads to the basement, while a door leads off to the '''bathroom''', which is dominated by an large round tub set into the floor. Various soaps, oils and gels are available, and some people spend a very long time in the bath, especially if they're with friends.

=== Deck and Playroom ===

Leaving the treehouse, visitors find a wide '''deck''' completely encircling the upper portion of the tree trunk, with plenty of places to sit or stand and admire the view. A fireman's pole offers a quick descent for those wishing to return to the yard. The tree's limbs are easily accessible from the deck - climb up into the branches, and you will find a hidden '''playroom''', where imagination rules.

=== Sleeping Platforms and Watchtower ===

You can climb off the deck of the main platform onto two '''sleeping platforms''' linked to one another by rope bridge - the second platform can only be accessed via the ground floor of the first. Most of the platforms are given over to the private rooms of Secret Moon regulars. The first platform also holds the public bedroom, while the second has a '''watchtower''', from which it's possible to see over the treetops to [[WhiteFire]]'s mountain and [[Layleaux Town]] in the distance.

=== The Lake ===

South of the treehouse lies a '''lake''' with a sandy beach with everything a young fur could wish for in the way of water sports, including floats, rafts, noodles, and a dive-in platform in the deeper areas. The beach is also suitable for paddling, or just lazing out - no need to worry about getting sunburnt, as the moon also shines here!

=== Secluded Pool ===

To the east of the lake, a wooded path leads off to a secluded '''pool''', where a flat rock provides a perfect jumping-off point into the crystal-clear spring waters. It is also a very quiet and peaceful place for those who wish to be alone, or alone with others.

The pool was an addition added by [[Crassus]] while the treehouse was still under the ownership of Lori'Anne. The concept of the pool was to be a symbolic representation of time and the magical effects which the moon played on the area. A little-known fact about the Secluded Pool is that while the rest of the treehouse area stays locked in time stasis (providing a perpetual twilight), the pool, and the oak tree feeding from it, is locked in a sort of temporal displacement which not only allows time to flow forward (which explains the size of the oak), but also to be reversed. The pool can act as a time machine, essentially. It can't simply transport you to and fro. It reacts to the inner wishes of the individual who bathes in it. This allows those who simply wish to have a swim not to be effected by the magical properties of the pool, while others who wish to either regress or advance in their age can do so.

Since time flows in this portion, the pool area also is the only area of the muck that is bathed in any form of sunlight, albeit limited by the canopy of leaves provided by the oak.

== Population ==

Given the adult theme of Tapestries, Secret Moon is particularly suited to [[ageplay]]ers, although [[babyfur]]s are known to hang out there as well.

It should be noted that despite the theme, and as everywhere in Tapestries, every part of the treehouse is a valid location for [[TinySex]], although [[non-consensual]] [[role-play]] is frowned on in the Yard - participants in such [[scene]]s may be asked to move elsewhere, though if it's particularly well-played few are likely to complain.

== Website ==

The domain was originally purchased by [[Crassus]] in response to a flame-war on alt.fan.furry regarding the nature of the treehouse and also to secure it for possible future promotion use. Ownership of the domain was voluntarily transfered to [[Ben Raccoon]] in summer of 2000.

The website at secretmoon.org shares the same theme as the MUCK location, although they are not particularly connected content-wise. Instead, the website provides hosting and mail services for some of Secret Moon's regular players.

In January 2003 a PaintBBS/oekaki system was added, which has become a popular place for certain forms of artwork.

== Disputed Changes of Ownership ==

{{Controversial}}

A couple months after the Treehouse became a public area, Lori'anne approached [[Crassus]] and explained she was no longer interested in Tapestries and transferred ownership of the treehouse to him. Lori'Anne granted him the password to Treespirit, the Treehouse building-quota character. She publically announced the change of ownership onto the treehouse bulletin board. At the time this took place, muck policy allowed sharing of characters. Online help documents which were available on the muck stated this. When the MUCK's policy changed, the website was updated reflecting the changes, but the neglected online help docs continued to display the previous policy.

Crassus then met Ben Raccoon and the two became involved in a relationship. Crassus invited Ben to become co-maintainer the treehouse and shared the character password. Crassus became involved in several expansion projects of the Treehouse's public areas but was finding it difficult due to the MUCK's [[building quotas]], so he began to consolidate many of the redundant objects and actions into globals; a project which he never finished. In particular, Crassus had attempted to make several objects sitting in the Main Room (such as the message board and children lists) global actions.

===Drama Extravaganza™===

In January of 2000, unrelated OOC conflicts erupted between the two. In a bout of anger and self-pity, Crassus considered just "giving up" and edged on deleting his character. During an angry exchange with Ben, he also made a spiteful comment about deleting the Treehouse. He realized doing so would be extremely unfair to all others who enjoyed the area, but still did not want to be around the place because he was upset and did not want to be near Ben (who regularly hung out there). During the exchange, he told Ben to "have" the treehouse. Crassus' intention was to also remain in charge, but at the time, this wasn't specified in the exchange.

After a couple months, relations settled down between the two. While their previous relationship remained defunct, they at least became amiable. Conflicts arose once again when Ben began to alter the multiple projects that Crassus had not finished. Crassus disapproved of the deletions and changes because they did not meet his standards and originally intended functionality. Ben reverted many changes back to their original format, effectively erasing Crassus' work. Crassus was mightily pissed. He confronted Ben, asking that Ben return the Treespirit character so he could finish his intended projects. Since the Treespirit password had never been changed, Crassus could have at any point simply logged onto the character and stranded Ben, but instead he approached Ben about it. After a couple weeks worth of power struggle, Ben changed the password to Treespirit to disallow Crassus from logging onto it.

===Attempted Resolution===

Crassus lodged a formal complaint to [[WhiteWizard]] via internal MUCK mail, who was not online at the time of the dispute. Contrary to belief, Crassus did not use an alt to lodge this complaint. Indeed, while WhiteFire had Crassus on an [[No-Contact Order]] due to a previous conflict regarding the neglected state of the [[SCALF|SCALF mailing list]], Crassus '''never''' attempted to contact Whitefire. Crassus contacted WhiteWizard, an administrative character, having faith that the situation would be handled professionally and without personal bias. However, there was a glitch. Whitefire had his page #mail set up to where whenever WhiteWizard received a page #mail, the mail is CC'ed to WhiteFire (who was online at the time). Crassus was aware of this fact, but he could do nothing to avoid it.

Crassus then noticed [[JadeWizard]] was online and approached her via page. He asked for Treespirit's password to be reset because of the conflict. Jade saw this as a simple issue to resolve. Jade asked for Treespirit's email address. Crassus informed Jade that since the character had originally belonged to Lori'Anne, the email address did not match his own. He also informed Jade that he had sent WhiteWizard a mail regarding the issue, to which the other wizard suggested, "I wouldn't tell him about this if I were you."

Crassus began to realize that it might have been a bad idea to contact the head admin about the issue. However, the mail had already been sent and Whitefire checked his mail before it could be #erase'd. WhiteWizard swept Crassus to the Wizard Meeting Room and asked if he was present. Crassus said yes and began to thank WhiteWizard for hearing him out. Before Crassus could even begin to get another word out, WhiteWizard exclaimed, "You are hearby toaded from Tapestries. An email will be forwarded shortly to detail the reasons why." and @toaded Crassus on the spot. In subsequent proclamations, WhiteWizard cited the reasons for the @toading were harassment (referring to the previous personal beef between WhiteFire and Crassus regarding their dispute about the defunct [[SCALF| SCALF mailing list]]) and [[Character Sharing]].

===Rebuttal===

Crassus viewed Whitefire's handling of the situation as unprofessional and unfair. By not even allowing to be heard before judgement, he felt Whitefire was simply holding a grudge for the [[SCALF|unrelated events]]. Crassus initiated a public web protest and petition of his alleged unfair treatment by creating a website detailing the dispute and publically displayed the multiple, unedited chastising emails he had received from Whitefire after the toading. Crassus also used his remaining alt to post the URL of his protest website on the [[Tavern]] message board to make people aware of the situation. Whitefire became quickly aware of the protest website through multiple complaints about Crassus' message board link (which was openly commented as "whiny" by apathetic Tavern regulars).

Whitefire then sent Crassus another email, indefinately site-banning him from any of fur.com's services (including web and newsgroups), also continuing to chastize Crassus for posting "private" emails onto a website, threatening him with legal action.

===Eventual Resolution===

The dispute over possession of the Treespirit character was unresolved for several months. The Treespirit account was locked and the treehouse was left without an official administrator. Finally, a rather fortuitous reappearance of Lori'anne resulted in a closed-door discussion between herself, Ben Raccoon, and one of the wizard corps. Possession of the treehouse was transferred to Ben Raccoon, and both were given a strong warning against further character sharing. Crassus was never approached during these discussions by WhiteWizard or any of the wizard staff and was never given chance to defend himself or speak his piece, remaining site-banned to this day.

Pride Rock

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by Siege

'''Pride Rock''' is the rock formation in the center of the territory of the pride of lions in [[The Lion King]]. For the most part, the lands around the formation are very fertile, providing enough to sustain the pride and other inhabitants.

During [[Scar]]'s reign, the land became barren, due to either mismanagement or other untold environmental issues. This might also be a form of the old myth of the intimate relationship between the King and the Land: the virtue of the King is reflected in the health of the land.

Anna Sewell

2006-01-29T15:42:33Z

MelSkunk: Reverted edit of 70.110.195.59, changed back to last version by Siege

'''Anna Sewell''' (1820-1878) came from a literary background. Her mother Mary (nee Wright) (1797-1884) was a prolific author of children's books and Quaker religious tracts. Although her works are largely forgotten today, Mary was a popular children's writer during the middle Victorian period. As a young woman, Anna editted, proofread and critiqued her mother's texts, and undoubtedly picked up much of the writer's craft from her. Mary reciprocated this service for Anna while she was writing [[Black Beauty]], and may in fact have collaborated on some portions of the book, although this is speculation.

At the age of fourteen, Anna fell on rain-slick pavement and injured her legs. Orthopedics being what they were at the time, the injury proved crippling, and she never recovered the full use of her legs. The Sewells were a country family, and well to do, so that Anna spent much of her youth and adulthood travelling about in a pony cart doing the charitable work that was expected of a Quaker lady.

Her love for [[horse]]s is generally held to have sprung from her constant association with her ponies during this period. It's tempting to speculate on her as a sort of [[Proto Furry|proto-furry]], given her isolation from her peer group, and her closeness to her ponies. There's little beyond speculation to support this, however, as Sewell's surviving writings give little insight into her state of mind. She is known to have been in the habit of talking to her ponies, and at least one friend was of the opinion that Anna felt that the ponies had a basic understanding of her words, as well as a simple moral nature.

As she aged, her health declined, and throughout her middle years she was a frequent visitor to the various spas and healing springs of Europe. This threw her into the company of some of the middle Victorian period's leading lights of philosophy, arts and literature. This undoubtedly broadened her perceptions, and shaped her views on the role of animals and the poor in society; kindness to which was already one of the tenets of Anna's Quaker faith.

By 1866 she had become too frail to remain abroad, and retired to her mother's home near Norwich. It was here in 1871 that she began to write her novel. It was written over the next six years in fits and starts, with frequent interruptions necessitated by her ill health. In November of 1877 she sold her book to a publisher, seeing it published in time for Christmas. Although today 'Black Beauty' is widely read by children, in its original publication is was intended as a social tract for people who worked with horses, and Sewell was outspoken in her hope that it would lead to better treatment for them.

Anna Sewell died in March of 1878, having lived long enough to see her novel reprinted, as it proved more popular than the publisher had at first estimated. Over the course of the next few years, [[Black Beauty]] became one of the defining cultural icons of the late Victorian age, fully the equal of the modern 'Harry Potter' phenomenon.

Joshua The Samurai

[[Image:JoshDawn2.jpg|thumb|The Samurai as [[Anthrocon 2005]] with [[Dawn Best]]]]
'''Joshua The Samurai''' is a [[furry]] writer, musician and personality. Known for being the creator of [[Bambi]] the [[bat]], he is also the administrator for the [[Bambi's Bamboo Bar]] Yahoo group, and has mastered two [[wikipedia:Techno_music|techno]] albums, one of which is the official [[wikipedia:Soundtrack|soundtrack]] for [[Shawntae Howard]]'s comic, ''[[Extinctioners]]''.

==Music==
[[Image:powercover.jpg|thumb|The Samurai's second Album, "Ronin without a cause."]]
The official Extinctioners soundtrack was Joshua's first album, written by him with a cover drawn by Extinctioners creator [[Shawntae Howard]], with featured artwork on the disk by artists that have contributed to Extinctioners in the past.

The album sold well, and the music was accepted as Extinctioners cannon, with the title track accepted as the official theme of the comic. However, the Samurai's second album "Ronin Without a Cause" was less well received. Despite some tracks being played by known DJ's and a few positive reviews, the lack of any "furry" theme other than a remix of the Extinctioners theme caused con-goers to lose interest, with only a few copies sold, and many given away as gifts by the composer when endless copies cluttered up his house.

Despite this setback, a third album (with a [[Jewel Vixens]] theme) is planned, tentatively named ''Bent on World Domination'', and it's rumored that artist [[Jodimest]] may add exclusive JV art to the soundtrack, hoping to restart the Samurai's musical career.

==The Samurai's Entourage==

The Samurai, along with his entourage, are regular fixtures at [[furry convention]]s and events, where some of his "esteemed entourage" can be seen around him at any given time. The entourage is jokingly referred to as the Samurai's "elite team of bodyguards," when in reality they are simply his close friends.
