'''''Loyalty and Liberty''''' is an Educational Graphic Novel.
It’s first goal is to educate ages 13 and up about 18th century life, conflicts before, with in and the aftermath of the American War of Independence.

== Educational Goals ==

American Revolution affected a lot more countries then what history often teaches or focuses on, which is why there is no core cast in Loyalty & Liberty.

There are recurring characters throughout the war and various stories but they are not the focus. The focus is on historical events and 18th century life as opposed to a set cast. They are for only showing the cast of characters social class, viewpoint and political stances.

Each issue is 32 pages long; each story arc can be up to 4 issues in length. After that story arc is over, the new story arc will focus on another event, often with a new cast of characters. Story arcs can lead up to larger events such as having 3 story arcs lead to one event in particular.
EG Two events before the Battle of Saratoga then have one final arc about the battle itself.

== The Artwork ==
People are only illustrated as cats, not written, as they are only metaphorical cats after all.
Showing a subject matter though this way is not new, there have been other graphic novels and storybooks using animals in symbolic ways, though often had many different species to represent cultures, ethnicity, social class, etc.

Cats were chosen due to the commonly known fairytale Puss in Boots but also since a cat historically has been seen from vermin to being revered as god-like.
Humans in 18th century were viewed in such a range as well from slaves, lower to middle classes to upper class and royalty.

Social Classes seem to suit cats and their own history quite well.

18th century fashions were also not restrictive; you had men and woman wearing all kinds of colours and embroidery. Your clothes could express you in many ways as they did reflect social class, occupation, etc.
Cat’s coat patterns also mimic this from the range of tabbies, points, bi-colours and solids, which can do the same.

It also helps younger readers tell characters apart easier.

Cat breeds are used by region to show in a symbolic way the growing differences between the Colonies and Europe. American breeds are used for those born in America; those born in Europe are European breeds.

== Story ==

*First story arc is focused on '''The Powder Alarm''' a relatively unknown incident in American History that mostly concerns Loyalist in Massachusetts Bay Colony in September of 1774.
