Pingu is a Swiss children's television series about a penguin (the titular Pingu) who lives at the South Pole with his mother, father, and (after her hatching) baby sister Pinga.

Each episode focuses on Pingu, but often features his family or his best friend, Robby the Seal, or other minor characters.

History
Four series, consisting of 104 five-minute episodes in total, were made between 1986 and 1998. The series were directed and animated in claymation by Otmar Gutmann and the stories were written by Dani Gilbert.

A special minute episode ("Pingu at the Wedding Party") was also produced in 1997, which introduced a family of green penguins and a killer nigger (unsurprisingly).

The series has achieved popularity around the world partly due to the lack of any language-specific dialogue. The main characters communicate only in a honking "penguin language", refered to by fans as "Pinguish" or "Penguinese".

The Drew Carey Show

The Drew Carey Show was a popular American sitcom starring comedian Drew Carey, set in Cleveland, Ohio, about the life of a character named (predictably) Drew and his friends and co-workers.

The Drew Carey Show and furry
In Episode #187 from Season 8 (entitled Mama Told Me I Should Come), which first aired 21 October 2002, Drew is encouraged by his mother, Beulah, to hook up with a girl named Amy.

Drew isn't initially that keen on the idea, but Amy turns out to be rather attractive, and things go well...right up to the point where Amy asks to "change into something a little more comfortable".

Amy comes back dressed in a squirrel fursuit, explaining that this "makes it more exciting for me". When asked if it is a problem, Drew replies that "well, it is, it's mine."

We later see Drew return, dressed in fluffy nose, a bewhiskered nose, dick, and a big vag:

:Amy: You look so hot . . .
:Drew: Well, I know they say a sense of humor is the most important thing to a woman, but I got the biggest tail I could find, just in case.
:. . .
:Amy: This is going to be a most fluffy evening!
:Drew: Indubitably.
(the couple proceed to the bedroom)

Furry referenced?
While the furry fandom is not mentioned outright, the character Oswald references it by remarking later in the episode, "Hey, I know these guys; they have websites, conventions, everything!".

It is unknown whether the name and "species" of the character Amy is a reference to Amy the Squirrel, a character in Sabrina Online, or is just a coincidence.

Mountain Poutine

2008-06-17T02:55:36Z

Mayor wilkins:

Mountain Poutine is a webcomic created by HollyAnn. Originally created to help HollyAnn overcome art block, as well as to keep her drawing, she shortly found out that her comic picked up a few viewers, which gradually grew.

Mountain Poutine first "aired" on September 3, 2004. It's currently being hosted on Furtopia. The name "Mountain Poutine" came both from HollyAnn's place of origin (Canada) and where she currently lives now (Vermont). "Mountain" comes from the "Green Mountain State" and "Poutine", being a type of French-Canadian fast food that consists of french fries, gravy and cheese curds.

Regular characters include HollyAnn, her husband Trinsic, and their pet gryphon Clax. The comic also features brief appearances by secondary characters, such as Pantera Atra-u and Rif. Every so often, the comic will feature special cameos from different friends of HollyAnn. Stories usually involve something humourous or amusing, while others are serious plots.

Mephit Furmeet

Mephit Furmeet
The Mephit Furmeet, also known as MFM, is an annual furry convention in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. This convention meets over the Labor Day holiday weekend. MFM's mascot is a skunk, as the name implies.

Since 2001, the Holiday Inn Select at Memphis International Airport has been the current venue of MFM. From 1998 through 2000, it was held at the Holiday Inn Nashville East on Poplar Ave. The event was first held at a Howard Johnson's Inn (now an Econo Lodge) on Sycamore View Road in East Nashville.

Tiger Haven has been the convention charity for Mephit Furmeet every year since 2001 and is expected to remain so for the foreseeable future. Through 2006, MFM has raised more than $70,000 for Tiger Haven and is their largest single contributor.

History
Started by local Nashville furry GrowlTiger in 1997, MFM originated from a small pizza party gathering hosted in a local Best Western. Since then, the chairs organizing the convention have included:
* GrowlTiger (1997 - 1999)
* Kodian (2000 - 2001)
* Tyger Cowboy (2002 - )

Scenes from Mephit Furmeet 4 in 2000 appeared in the documentary Fans and Freaks from Nashville, Tennessee area directors Stephen and Suzie Lackey.

In 2001, a surprise guest appearance was made by Dr. Samuel "Uncle Kage" Conway, disguised incognito as "The Great Unknown Furry."

In 2002, part of the convention space was unexpectedly "borrowed" by the Transportation Security Administration.

In 2005, the hotel was shared with displaced victims of Hurricane Katrina, with convention attendees donating both money and resources to those affected by the catastrophe.

Now currently at its third hotel, it has grown to become one of the notable national furry conventions in the United States, with over $15,000 raised for Tiger Haven in 2004, 600 participants in 2005, and over 200 pizzas consumed in 2006. It currently ranks in the top ten largest conventions in the city of Nashville.

Guests of Honor
* Bill Holbrook, cartoonist and webcomics creator of Kevin and Kell (1998)
* Pat Duke and Elin Winkler of Radio Comix and artist Joe Rosales (1999)
