TwoKinds is a webcomic created by Tom Fischbach, following the adventures of Trace Legacy and his companions, Flora, Keith and Natani.

* Ran from/to: 22 October 2003 - present

The comic is currently updating twice a week (as of June 2009).
Setting
The world of TwoKinds is made up of at least three races (as of October 2005):
* Humans
* Keidran
* Basitin

The latter two races are "furry", with the Keidran having at least four clans - tiger, wolf, dog, and fox. (The Keidran are related to their animal mostly in their look; not all of their real-life counterparts' features and habits apply. The Basitin are not based on any particular animal.)

The three races have various levels of animosity toward each other; most humans and Keidran have a good deal of contempt and hatred for the other race, and some Keidran have been shown as slaves to humans.

The main characters, especially Trace and Flora, appear to be pawns in the games of the demi-gods who created the races. The fact that Trace and Flora have fallen in love seems to have put a crimp in some of their plans; others are to be determined.

Generally, Tom Fischbach considers many things and characters prior to Chapter 7 (beyond the original three regulars: Trace, Flora and Keith) to be non-canon, due to self-admitted poor writing.

Characters
Trace Legacy is a male Human. He grew up with a natural talent for using magic, leading him to become a Templar, a class of human mages. He eventually married, but after a mission came home to find his wife and family murdered, apparently by Keidran. In an attempt to resurrect them, he dabbled with black magic, and turned evil, becoming a hateful, ambitious young man who usurped the title of Grand Templar and attempted to overtake the world.

Machinations led to his memory being stolen, and him awakening with total amnesia is the beginning of the series. He is currently trying to regain his memory and rediscover his skills, but is a much kinder person now, and is ashamed of his past. Sometimes past habits can reassert themselves, especially if he taps the Earth for mana.

Flora of the Rainforest Tiger Tribe is a female Tiger Keidran. Saved by Trace soon after he awakes without his memories, they become traveling companions, eventually falling in love despite their racial differences. She was betrothed to marry a Wolf Keidran, Sythe, in an arranged marriage uniting the two clans, but chose to follow her own path instead.

It is being suggested in the story that she might be pregnant with Trace Legacy's child, but this has not yet been confirmed officially.

Keith Kaiser is a male Basitin. He is an outcast from his people, having been accused of murdering his father, a revered Basitin General. He washed ashore on the mainland, and was taken in by a Keidran tribe. Eventually he fell in love with Laura, a Fox Keidran, but she cheated on him shortly after they were married. This led to him becoming suspicious of all female Keidran.

He originally recruited Trace and Flora to help him with a mission, and has since become their travelling companion as well. He is sometimes suspicious of Flora due to his past experiences with Laura. As it turns out, his mission was to capture Trace Legacy, the Grand Templar, in order to earn his way back home. But the bargain ended up complicated since nobody expected him to succeed.

Natani of the Border Forest Tribe is a female Wolf Keidran, but dresses and identifies as a male. She and her brother, Zen, joined an assassin's guild in their tribe after their parents were murdered by Human Templars. Natani had to disguise her gender in order to join. During her first mission, her soul was shredded by a rogue Keidran mage using banned magic. Zen bonded his soul to hers, filling in the missing pieces to save her life. As a side-effect, however, she now believes she is male, though her female biology does assert itself occasionally.

She joined the group after a failed attempt to kill Trace Legacy, an assassination ordered by her guild. The attempt led to Zen being gravely wounded. She eventually became part of the crew under a new mission to follow them pending future orders. She has since developed a camraderie with Keith, and has a crush on him. Whether this is mutual is yet to be determined.

Other characters
*Lady Nora is an ancient female Dragon that likes to meddle in the affairs of mortals, but is particularly fond of Trace and often helps him.
*Eric Vaughan is a male Human slave trader. He deals in providing Keidran slaves to Humans. He is a pervert, and has an unhealthy appreciation for female Keidrans and Basitins. He also owns three personal slaves:
:*Kathrin Vaughan is a mixed-breed female Keidran. She was bred to be as visually appealing as possible, with the purpose of being a sex slave. Eric bought her from his brother, and has raised her more like a sister, having claimed never to have used her for her "designed" purpose.
:*Evals of the Dog Clan is a male Dog Keidran, and is one of Eric's servants. His primary job is to maintain Eric's ship.
:*Mike of the Coastal Fox Tribe is a male Fox Keidran, and is one of Eric's servants. During the 10th and 11th chapters, Nora created the illusion that Mike was female, leading to undue sexual tension between him and Evals, and fear of what Eric would do with a female Mike.
*Nickolai Alaric is a childhood friend of Keith's, a male Basitin. He is now the supreme General of the Basitin army, and is scheming with the Templars to capture Trace Legacy for unknown purposes.
*Laura of the Coastal Fox Tribe is a female Fox Keidran. She was, at one time, Keith's mate, but cheated on him, forcing him to abandon the Keidran tribe that took him in after his banishment. Eventually she went looking for him, leading her to the Northern Basitin island where Keith came from.
*Zen of the Border Forest Tribe is a male Wolf Keidran. He is the older brother of Natani, and was mentally linked to her to repair her soul after exposure to banned magic. The two of them form the "Magi Brothers". He was grievously wounded by Keith in an assassination attempt on Trace Legacy. He is currently recovering at home, occasionally teasing his "little brother" through their link.
*Sythe of the Border Forest Tribe is a male Wolf Keidran. He was originally intended to marry Flora to form an alliance between their tribes. Since she walked away from the arrangement, his tribe has been seeking to kill her in addition to Trace Legacy.
*The Master Templars are the five human henchmen Trace Legacy installed as the controllers of the Templar Order when he was Grand Templar. In his absence, they have run the Templar Order. However, they appear to each be working to separate gains. Some wish to bring Trace Legacy back. Some wish to destroy him and take power for themselves. Others merely wish to keep him out of the way. Each of the five Masters has a different specialization: Master Spy, Master Architect, Master Strategist, Master Seer and Master Mage.
*Ephemural is one of the demi-gods that oversees the world. He is the one that has stolen Trace Legacy's memory.

Hey, everyone. I'm most commonly known as Mahewa, but occasionally under other names. As you may have guessed, I'm an artist. I rediscovered The Lion King a couple of years ago and have since been a big fan, but I only became a furry fairly recently, just a couple of months ago. My fursona is a lioness with purple hoop earrings. Not that you care...

Mahewa:

:The article is about the animal. For the fur known as "Lion", see Leo Panthera.

The Lion (Panthera leo) is a mammal of the family Felidae. Many who have lion fursonas today originally came from the The Lion King fandom before joining the furry fandom, whilst others are simply inspired by the movie.

Lions are predatory carnivores who live in family groups, called prides, consisting of related females, their cubs of both sexes, and one or more unrelated males who mate with the adult females. The females do the hunting for the pride while the males are largely occupied with maintaining the borders of their territory.
Mating Behavior
Lions are one of the most sexually active cats, another popular reason for choosing lion fursonas. During a female's oestrus cycle, a male and female will mate unabated for 5-7 days every 10 to 20 minutes. However, it takes 6-9 oestrus cycles for the female to become pregnant.
Sub-species
There are several subspecies of lion, most of which once existed or currently exist on the continent of Africa. The Asiatic Lion, or Panthera leo persica lives in present-day Gir Forest region of India. The remaining subspecies of lion, along with their scientific names and habitat, are the following:

* Panthera leo azandica - North East Congo lion
* Panthera leo bleyenberghi - Katanga lion
* Panthera leo hollisteri - Congo lion
* Panthera leo krugeri - South African lion
* Panthera leo leo - Barbary lion (Morocco to Egypt); Extinct in 1922.
* Panthera leo massaicus - Massai lion
* Panthera leo melanochaita - Cape lion; Extinct in 1860.
* Panthera leo nubica - East African lion
* Panthera leo persica - The Asiatic lion
* Panthera leo roosevelti - Abyssinian lion
* Panthera leo senegalensis - West African lion, or Senegal lion
* Panthera leo somaliensis - Somali lion
* Panthera leo verneyi - Kalahari lion

Barbary lions were the largest of the lion sub-species, and were kept by Roman emperors - who ordered the capture of literally thousands of individuals to fight in the gladiator arenas.

Despite its popular moniker of "King of the Jungle" which is more appropriate to the Asiatic lion, the African lion is an animal of the open plains. As a result, it has been the target of extensive poaching and is now a threatened species with significant populations being limited to national parks in Tanzania and South Africa, as well as the Gir Forest.
