Lone:

[[Image:LoneHEAD.jpg|left|frame|Lone by Black Teagan ]] Hey there, you brave-link-clicker, you! Lone Wulfe here. And yes, I'm quite aware that I do in fact possess one of the most creative fursona names to ever exist on this planet and upon any other lesser semi-inhabitable chunks of rock this side of Andromeda. You don't need to remind me and if your name is quite similar (or even the same)...well...I'm very sorry. If it helps at all, I occasionally am referred to both online and off as "Wuffie", "Sky-Wuffie", "WuffieBoi!!1zomg" as well as other variants of the above nomenclature. No offense if we share any of those, either.

To clear up something, Lone was simply a non-anthropomorphic lupine character of mine in a long-abandoned story known as Three Sided Love before I ever identified with him as my personal psyche, if you will. It was not until I "anthrosized" him (to coin a term that will never catch on) for a [yiff] story known, creatively, as Lone's First Yiff. (A link to this will not be provided on the grounds that I'm ashamed to have written it...but those who really want to see it can search for it at YiffStar.com) From that point on, I tried to put as much of my own characteristics and personality traits into Lone, as I wanted him to represent me. Were I an anthropomorphic wolf that owns about a bazillion guns and nearly that many cars.

Anyway, I am in fact an author. Or attempting to be one, by God. A listing of my stories can be found below - eventually they'll have links as well. My first writing project was a Balto fanfic(gasp!) called The New Dog In Town in which Lone was not even a character. The next story, Three Sided Love, was also based on all non-anthropomorphic creatures but Lone comes to life in this story. Most stories following this are based off of Lone being an anthro but there are, as with anything, exceptions. However, I'm currently working on several small stories - none of which are for myself. If the receivers of these stories wish, I will post those works as well with time. My style of writing is not oh so unique, unfortunately - I try to work in action, adventure, romance and humor into all I write and I must admit that the only really nifty thing I do involves Lone's gift to occasionally react to a particular situation in slow-motion. I basically...write that scene in slow-motion. Kinda nifty, right? I like to think so.

My behemoth-like project in the workings is known most simply as the Seasons series and it's supposed to be...twelve books. Huh huh. I love to write and when I get the muse...I can sit down and write a few pages inna coupla hours - but that's hardly nuthin'. I've gotten nearly fifty pages into the first story of the series, yet I've planned out the plot of nearly the entire series. Here lies my problem(s): procrastination, laziness and lack of time in general. I have so many inspirations to write and so very many good ideas, but I just can't seem to get them down. Alas, poor Lone, we knew him well.

While my writing career struggles to exist, I also do random doodles on the side. I'd like to not label myself as an artist because I don't see myself as greatly talented. That and my abilities lie mostly (if not completely) in the furry realm - I can hardly draw anything outside of it. But perseverance keeps me drawing often enough that improvement can be detected, and perhaps one day I'll lose enough self-consciousness to post some of it publicly.

I heart guns about as much as Lone does in the stories. While I may not yet be of an age to legally own a personal firearm in the not-so-grand United States, I know a goodly amount about guns. I've fired a good number and studied up close an even greater number. This interest in guns actually did spawn from writing about them in the first few stories with Lone and I figured if my main character was to be so obsessed with them, I should learn somethin' as well. Thus I learned.

Not much else is to be said about me. I also heart Billy Joel, perhaps more than guns. I'm shooting for a bachelor's degree in History and I'd like to be a high school teacher for a few years until I can (hopefully) get something published and into the public's eye. I do in fact have a mate and he is in fact a he - Zerrex would be his handle. He lives in Canada and it is so far away...but alas, upon both of us graduating, there are plans in the making to move in together and see what we can pull off. Yep, he writes, too. But he has five-hundred-plus page stories already written out. *jealous*

The comprehensive summary of Lone Wulfe will come to a blissful end here, though more may be added if I decide I do anything else. For referential purposes, below is a list of anything I've worked on in the field of literature (once again, links to these stories or what is written of them will be provided upon a later date).

Wuffie has written...
* The New Dog In Town (1998-1999) - A fanfiction based off of the animated movie Balto. Essentially, a new dog arrives in town (the creativity in my titles is mind-blowing) and she wastes little time in manipulating the other dogs in town to her beliefs and ideals, quickly forming a dangerous faction that has a main objective of eliminating everyone's favorite wolfdog. Not sure whether this will be posted or not - it's very old and...very embarrassing.

* Three Sided Love (1999-2001) - This story, unfortunately, still involved characters from Balto and so I abandoned it after getting to around the 68th page. Many close friends were ready to lynch me for this careless action - but what could I have done with it once finished? Not much. This was a story with several entwining plotlines and many, many characters - Lone is introduced as a large Arctic wolf with a devil-may-care attitude but a hidden softness he reserves only for necessary times. While I did have high hopes for this story, I realized it would not go anywhere in the real world and so I simply cut it off one day. The link will be provided soon.

* Lone's First Yiff (2002) - Essentially I had intented this to be merely a yiff to get my mind off of things...but since I was enthralled with the idea of Lone being an anthro, it ended up being several weeks' worth of writing before I even reached the actual scene of sexual intercourse. Though I'm usually embarrassed by this story as well, it was the basis for the introduction of the first story in the Seasons series and thus I'm doing it justice by editing it as you read, preparing it to be posted to the internet once more as an archived story that will receive no further additions, acting instead as a marker of my progress.

* The Snow May Fall (2003-?) - The first in the Winter trilogy of the Seasons series. Lone is given a background, an attitude and a serious problem right from the first few pages. Though the Word document on my computer with this filename is only forty-eight pages long, there are several other "chunks" of this story scattered throughout - pieces I wrote when I wanted to do something that was not yet connected to the main storyline. Nevertheless, this story is intented as a (lengthy) introduction to one of the series' main characters, Lone Wulfe, outlining his story and bringing him into contact with a few other characters that will serve as primary players throughout the plot. Visit the link to view a more detailed analysis on this planned story.

* Various yiffs (2004-?) - A collection of yiffy stories written by yours truly to administer to the desires of others. 'Nuff said.

* Unnamed Pirate Story (2005-?) - A story I started on paper involving talking non-anthropomorphic canines and humans. On a pirate ship. This story was started as a gift for a one Callee McBorder and it is still greatly a work in progress as much as TSMF is but I'm rather proud of what I have all the same. Callee, a quietly commanding and rather dryly amusing border collie, plays the captain with an over-energetic and homosexual Lone playing the first mate. Though not much has been written for this story yet, what I have will soon be posted as I find it a good introduction to what may be a good story, not to mention an amusing one.

* Various Chunks (?-?) - There isn't much to say about these. They include parts to the Seasons series and will be listed as soon as they are uploaded with their temporary titles as well as brief descriptions for which story they belong to and in what part of the timeline they should be placed.

Got any questions? Comments? Whatnot? Bother me! I'll even give you my email address if you wish to carry on a semi-civilized conversation via...email.
Lone Wulfe

Lone:

Lone is one of the main characters in The Snow May Fall, part of the Seasons series of trilogies, written by the author of the same alias. In person, Lone is essentially the same as far as behavior, opinions, attitude and personality but obviously the appearance of his body, his occupation and his abilities vary.

The character Lone, fully known as Lone Wulfe, is a purely white Arctic wolf. Standing at six foot four inches (1.93 m), he's nothing abnormal or excessively odd, based on appearance, at least. He is often found wearing a Hawaiian shirt as this is his most common type of shirt (though other shirts may be found). If the weather or occasion calls for it, he may be seen with one of two leather jackets on (images to come later) or a white trench coat. Although not depicted in the provided illustration, Lone always has some sort of clothing on for his lower half as well. Most of the year (given the temperature is not too high) he wears ridiculously baggy jeans, usually black or blue. He may wear long shorts if it is too warm for the jeans; also, he owns regularly-sized jeans and pants should he feel the need to dress in at least a somewhat socially accepted fashion. It should be noted he also adores wearing different suits, often those that will stand out in a crowd without being improper.

Lone's behavior varies throughout situations but in general, he is a very amiable and friendly character. He smiles often and offers a warm disposition to almost all he meets. In public, he does not often voice his opinions of someone if he finds them dislikeable but in private will be quick to cut them down and/or mock them. Lone enjoys making people laugh and finds a great deal of pleasure in helping someone else, even in something as small as arousing a smile. This is directly linked to his fierce sense of loyalty to those close to him - there is little he wouldn't do for those he considers to be within his inner circle. However, it also makes him assume that revenge and the act of avenging someone is a simple decision that he will carry through with little regret or consideration of his actions. In this sense, he can be extremely brash and this impulsiveness and often thoughtless decision making will get him in trouble with those close to him.

In action, his behavior is still considerably light - he often makes jokes if he is accompanied by anyone during a mission and will taunt the enemy with occasionally humorous comments. However, he also has a darker side that may arise if the combat situation becomes more serious or if he is on the losing side. At these times, Lone will take on a far colder and goal-oriented characteristic that might startle any who have not been with him in a similar situation before.

[[Image:LoneSMALL.jpg|right|frame|Art by Black Teagan © 2005]]

As illustrated, Lone is a smoker but not a heavy one. His preferred brand is Winston, regular filters. Lone usually only smokes one or two cigarettes a day unless he's under stress or in the middle of action. His favorite time to smoke is often while driving.

In terms of driving, Lone has a slight obsession with owning exotic and fast (for the most part) vehicles. At a certain point in the Seasons books, Lone has a total of 16 cars (available to be perused here) and uses them at random unless one is more appropriate than another for a certain mission.

Lone also has an extreme obsession for weaponry, namely those of a projectile nature. By the second or third book of the Seasons series, he will have an average of fifty-five to sixty guns, fifty-nine descriptions of these weapons may be observed here. (Note: Some of the guns are fictional as the story takes place near the end of the twenty-first century; furthermore, others have been customized and therefore may arise some questions as to their validity) When in a combat situation, Lone will almost always resort to the use of his guns primarily - his martial arts skills are nowhere near professional. His accuracy is exceptional as is his speed and precision. His talent is offset by a few things; the first is obviously his lack of dependable hand-to-hand combat techniques, the second is his somewhat lacking respect of life - most enemies are completely dispatched and innocents may be harmed with minimal mental repercussions on the lupine's behalf.

Lone's experience with firearms is accented by his odd and considerably unexplained sixth sense: the ability to move and act under a temporarily slowed perception of time. Simply explained, he is sometimes able to enter a sort of "slow motion" while being fired upon. This allows him to execute more difficult acrobatic maneuvers and enhances both his accuracy even further as well as his chance of surviving the enemy's volley of shots. He cannot control this ability nor can he truly predict when or how it starts and ends - he only knows that it is his ace-in-the-hole if caught in a tight situation.

In the third book of the Seasons series, Lone gains the ability to manipulate and control (to an extent) the element of electricity. This power may be used offensively or defensively and the difficulty and strength of each particular electrical ability will remove from him a proportional amount of "energy" which is most effectively described as a combination of his mental strength, physical endurance and a theoretical "reservoir" of power without which these maneuvers cannot be executed.

For the subject of romance and sexual/love partners, Lone was initially heterosexual at the start of the Seasons series and had three female girlfriends - details may be found as the story is written. However, near the middle of The Snow May Fall, Lone becomes involved with a male Drakkaren (reptilian anthromorph) named Zerrex Ravenlight Narrius. The two remain as soulmates throughout the remainder of the planned series. Lone's preferences remain homosexual and although he is not known for promiscuous behavior once mated with Zerrex, should the urge arise, his temporary partner will always be a male.

Interesting fact: Lone does not ever wear shoes. The pads on the bottoms of his large paws are considerably tough after years of being used bare - it is rare he comes into a situation where he cannot cross a certain spot of terrain. Unless there is some sharp obstruction (eg. broken glass) or the area is unbearably hot/cold, Lone is able to manage. Furthermore, if he comes across such a scenario, he will either find another way around or improvise somehow.

[[Image:LoneHEAD.jpg|left|frame|Lone by Black Teagan ]] Hey there, you brave-link-clicker, you! Lone Wulfe here, known by a few by the very human name of Skylar Kiss.

::Heh... I probably should've tested it with another browser before bringing it up - it seems like there's only an issue with Opera.
:::After having at the user preferences a little, I found out what it was that caused the issue - and it's not at all a problem with the browser... it's the 'Norsk (bokmål)' language setting! ::::Yes, language settings do odd things. When I set it to German, "Community Central" is called "WikiFur-Portal", and the link to the livejournal is called "Aktuelle Ereignisse" (= Current events). I wonder whether this can be adjusted for all languages?
:::::The issue is that there are separate copies of the MediaWiki: namespace for each language. It is necessary to edit them for each language. The pages are accessible via Special:Allmessages. You can also edit them by adding the language code prefix to the subpage, e.g. MediaWiki:Currentevents/de.
Myself and Giza are undecided as to wether or not the sexual nature of being furry should be included on this page. Some discussion between me and him carried over from the discussion page on the artical itself. It boils down to the impact of drawing potentially harmful attention to the fandom through the sexual aspect. Your thoughts? --Omnibahumut 06:19, 16 Nov 2005 (UTC)
:Hi there! Welcome to WikiFur. :-)

:You probably want to talk to me. The link to my email is in the toolbox at the left, but to make it simple I've copied this message to the address given.

:Before you email, you should know a few things:
* I will treat your emails with a measure of confidence, if that is what you desire. I may share some details with the fellow administrators who I trust not to spread said details beyond that group, depending on the circumstances.
* I will do things that are provided for by our policies, and particularly our personal information policy (which is the main generally accepted grounds for removing information) unless I have a really good reason for not doing so, in which case I will explain why that is. Note that this pertains both to information that we will remove and information that we will not remove.
* Please understand that things may take a certain amount of time, and trying to rush it (especially with legal threats, which we've had before) will not help you achieve your goals more quickly. I, personally, intend to attend Midwest FurFest this Friday and weekend, but that's not the main reason, which is . . .
* This is a community wiki. Not mine, nor that of any other contributor. My decisions are not final. Consensus is the byword here. It may take some time - and, yes, discussion - to reach it.
* If your requests pertain to personal details, I will want to have some reasonable assurance that the person actually requested such actions, or other evidence that the person's wishes are as you say they are. It was fairly simple to confirm that the most recent request was "likely in intent", but others might not be. This is one reason why concerned persons might wish to contact me directly.

:Honestly, I think you are misguided in not posting publicly, as ultimately all actions on WikiFur are public and contentious ones will require explanation, or they will be reverted - if not by myself, then by others. I'm willing to lay your case for removal of material on your behalf, but by choosing to forgo a personal request from named people, you lose the basic respect that goes with asking for yourself. Given that most information is removed due to such respect, that is an important thing to consider. I am not willing to make quick and silent removals on behalf of people that I do not know, or for reasons that I do not agree with. You will have to convince the community that it is the right thing to do.

What if we were to create a general purpose talk page, where users could simply ask questions that could be answered by any other visiting user without having to think of who or where in particular to ask? A link to creating a new thread on this page would be given out in the welcome messages, for immediate access by new users.

However, I'm not really sure how good this would work out in practice, though - it could be overused/vandalized to no end for all I know. But still, it would be great to have a clearly defined way to reach the most possible users on this Wiki at any given time. --MKerris 03:34, 26 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Not a big deal, but...
How come Wikifur still have 'Wikipedia' in all its page titles? Many other wikis here at Wikicities have its own name up there - perhaps Wikifur should too? ;) --MKerris 17:16, 10 Nov 2005 (UTC)

:I'm really not sure what you're talking about - could you clarify? Here it says "WikiFur" in page titles (along the caption of the window), not Wikipedia. --GreenReaper 02:34, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

::Heh... I probably should've tested it with another browser before bringing it up - it seems like there's only an issue with Opera. Although I have no idea why it happens, it's certainly not an err on your part... maybe I should inquire them (Opera's developers) about this. --MKerris 09:00, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

:::After having at the user preferences a little, I found out what it was that caused the issue - and it's not at all a problem with the browser... it's the 'Norsk (bokmål)' language setting! That seems to be the only one (or one of very few) that's got this particular quirk; perhaps Wikia is to be contacted instead? :) --MKerris 10:41, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

::::Yes, language settings do odd things. When I set it to German, "Community Central" is called "WikiFur-Portal", and the link to the livejournal is called "Aktuelle Ereignisse" (= Current events). I wonder whether this can be adjusted for all languages? Note also that WikiFur:Site support (also a link in the left menu) is empty, perhaps it could be filled with some information about how one can support the site. - Unci 12:24, 11 Nov 2005 (UTC)

:::::Unci and MKerris, I have given you administrator access - could you try changing the german ones (and any other languages you know) where appropriate? The pages that have changed in the english version are here. --GreenReaper 20:00, 12 Nov 2005 (UTC)

::::::Thanks a lot - I could try to improve a little on the Scandinavian versions at the least. --MKerris 01:41, 13 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Thanks
:Thanks! I'm excited to join the team and hope to be a aid to the community as a whole. I took on a big project pretty early to my Wiki career, the [What is Furry?] artical.
I am writing on behalf of a small number of parties who wish to have information deleted from the "WikiFur" in it's entirety. We wish to be provided with a direct email address, as we do not wish to:

1) Post requests on a public-viewable board
2) create a "login" for the site.

Please send an email address for any administrator who can remove entries in their entirety and make modifications to others to: delfromwikifur@yahoo.com

:That said, I await your email. --GreenReaper 03:23, 17 Nov 2005 (UTC)
Oddly enough, I had one of those forehead-slapping moments yesterday when I realized that I can take my work laptop with me when I go traveling for Thanksgiving.
Is the text found in this article enough to make conclusions as for the action of protecting and excluding? Or would the person need to contact an admin by e-mail or IM? Just wondering, as I'm kinda new to situations like this. :) --MKerris 19:18, 25 Nov 2005 (UTC)
WikiFur "Shoutbox"?
What if we were to create a general purpose talk page, where users could simply ask questions that could be answered by any other visiting user without having to think of who or where in particular to ask? A link to creating a new thread on this page would be given out in the welcome messages, for immediate access by new users.

However, I'm not really sure how good this would work out in practice, though - it could be overused/vandalized to no end for all I know. But still, it would be great to have a clearly defined way to reach the most possible users on this Wiki at any given time. --MKerris 03:34, 26 Nov 2005 (UTC)
