Nohni Wabanda is a fictional character created by furry artist and writer Cirrel, and also serves as his "muse".

Vital Statistics
* Species: Golden Jackal

* Birthplace: Upper Nile Valley, Egypt

* Height: 190 cm (approx. 6 ft)

* Weight: 74 kg (approx. 163 lbs)

Character Background
Nohni is a female golden-furred Jackal who was raised by Ojibwa Indians in Ontario, Canada. She remembers very little about her biological parents other than brief mental images, her only clues about her origins being of a similar fur pattern to Jackals living in the upper Nile Valley region of Egypt, and a golden ankh that she wears on a necklace. Her Ojibwa name approximately translates into "she shows her breasts", referring to her habit of running around topless with the other Ojibwa children while growing up. As an adult, she is very straightforward and to the point, preferring to get to the heart of the matter rather than beat around the bush. She is also driven towards adventuring, hoping to possibly uncover some clues to her past. She is an accomplished archaeologist, operating in a fashion comparable to Indiana Jones or Lara Croft, though she tends to specialize in sexually-oriented artifacts and legends that her colleagues usually shy away from due to the taboos of modern society. When not in the field, she is a professor at Patriarch University.

Equipment
Given her propensity for adventuring, Nohni has amassed a collection of specialized equipment to aid in her endeavors, which includes the following:

* H1 Hummer "Rumble Bee" - Nohni's personal vehicle is a customized Hummer H1 with a yellow-striped black paint scheme, luggage rack, and brush guard nicknamed the 'Rumble Bee'.

* Custom Smith & Wesson SW1911 - Nohni carries a heavily-customized Smith & Wesson SW1911 semi-automatic pistol chambered in .45 ACP as a personal-defense sidearm. The SW1911 is a modern variant of the classic Colt M1911 semi-automatic pistol produced by Smith & Wesson. Nohni's pistol is customized to include a gold-anodized finish, 15-round magazine (in place of the standard 8-round magazine), a longer 7.38" barrel (replacing the standard 5.03" barrel) with a lengthened slide to match, and an accessory rail for mounting laser pointers, tactical flashlights, or other accessories on the frame ahead of the trigger guard.

* Bullwhip - In addition to her pistol, Nohni also carries a 14' bullwhip as a multipurpose tool and makeshift weapon, reminiscent of Indiana Jones. Like her male human counterpart, she is highly proficient in using the whip and almost never goes anywhere without it.

* Horus - Nohni owns a Kitsune 550 STOL (Short Take-Off and Landing)-capable turboprop plane based on the de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter which she's christened the "Horus" after an Egyptian sun god taking the form of a falcon. It can be configured as either a float plane for operating on water or with skis for use in arctic environments, as well as with conventional landing gear. Despite owning the aircraft, she typically hires others to pilot it, such as her friend Tigermark.

Notable Appearances
Aside from a myriad of stand-alone art pieces done by Cirrel and other artists, Nohni has also appeared in two larger projects undertaken by her creator. The first is the Traveler's Tomb comic strip, which is mostly satirical in nature and pokes fun at various pop culture and sexual fetish subjects. The other is the Winter's Shard adventure story, which takes a more serious and mature tone. Cirrel himself has stated that both projects ended up growing far beyond their original intended scope, which he jokingly blamed on Nohni's influence as his muse.

Relation to Other Characters
Nohni can be frequently seen interacting with characters belonging to other artists. She is a professor at the fictional Patriarch University along with Raven Hunt (created by Max Black Rabbit) and Hazel Weiss. Hazel and the University both are the creations of gNAW. Nohni has frequently been seen engaging in various degrees of social interactions with these characters, as well as other characters including the fursonas of the aforementioned artists.
A Doemain of Our Own is an online furry comic created by furry artist SusanDeer. The story concerns the life of a doe writer named Sue Hartland and the strange adventures she finds herself in, as well as her hectic social life.

The collection A Doemain of Our Own, Vol. 1 won the 2006 Ursa Major Award for Best Anthropomorphic Other Literary Work.

Premise
In the webcomic's beginning, the plot dealt around the romantic life of Sue and her husband, Eric, paralleling the real life of the comic's creator and her husband. Real life issues invaded the strip (Sue was forced to have a hysterectomy, leaving her barren, and eventually breaking up her RL marriage) and the character of Eric was written out in late 2004, leaving Susan single in the series. She has recently been dating a tiger named Bennie, who so far has been ambiguous about his sexuality.

The comic often deals with light-hearted and fantastic issues, such as despite being an herbivore, Sue has some canine teeth due to her mixed parentage. Also, during one story arc it was revealed the Sue was a descendant of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, leading to her being "drafted" one Christmas eve to lead Santa's sleigh team.

Characters
Along with Sue, the other main characters in the story are Artisan P. "Arty" Sunspot and Richard "Vinci" Nicolaides, two gay partners who are close friends with Sue. Arty is a Yumar and the more masculine of the two (he dislikes Vinci's attempts to make him look "cute",) who works as tech support for a computer company, while Vinci is a raccoon and tends to be more stereotypical but still lovable. Arty has an affinity for donuts, and Vinci is a notorious bad cook. The two characters are the subject of their own comic strip Vinci & Arty created by Candy Dewalt and Ryan Dewalt.

Sue also has two non-anthro pet cats, Gwynn and Ginger, who are frequently the subject of their own adventures. Both are sentient to a certain degree and able to "talk" to each other, but incapable of verbally communicating with their owner or other sentient characters beyond typical purring, attacking and demanding attention, similar to Garfield and Odie from Garfield. They are both playful and mischievous, but not outright mean.
Dela The Hooda
Dela The Hooda is an online comic strip that is part science fiction and part slice-of-life, albeit set in unusual circumstances by mixing anthropomorphic and human characters in a domestic setting. The comic features Dela Aldershaw, a vixen character from a parallel universe where magic and science mix freely who finds herself stranded on Earth and attempts to restart her life in the Canadian town of Peabow. The comic began in 1997 and while it has moved from URL to URL and has an irregular posting schedule it is slated to continue until its story conclusion (expected to come in 2008). As of 2005, two treasuries have been published and it has a German translation. The comic is created and drawn by two Canadian artists Style Wager and Greg Older who are currently starting on a fantasy comic entitled DragonQuest currently being published in Furrlough by Radio Comix http://furry.wikia.com/wiki/Radio_Comix

Characters
Dela Aldershaw: The main character of the strip, Dela is a “hooda”, a humanoid vixen native to Mhâr, a fantasy world that in Dela’s time has achieved interstellar space-flight and other advanced technologies. In her reality humanity has learned to live along side other races that makes up the world of Mhâr (halflings, dwarves, goblins, etc.) so Dela has great difficulty sometimes avoiding interactions with the humans she meets in Peabow, creating all sorts of surreal situations (such as one her neighbors thinking she is a recurring hallucination). Dela is torn between her desire to return to her home reality and the relationships she has with those she has befriended in Peabow.

Sue Chan: Dela’s housemate, Sue is a Chinese-Canadian grad student from nearby Trout University. Sue is stoic and largely unflappable, quickly thinking on her feet even in the face of chaos. Her one major weak spot is her relationship with her traditionalist parents who frown on her liberal views and her lesbian relationship with another student at the University. Her other Achilles heel is her love/hate relationship with Jake McRoss and his relationship with Edith.

Jake McRoss: One of Dela and Sue’s neighbors, Jake is privy to Dela’s existence and is a constant influence in their lives. A photographer and former rock star, Jake is a mixture of geek, lounge lizard, and agony aunt. Although initially attracted to Sue (much to her chagrin), he has recently found a partner in Edith; this has sparked some jealousy in Sue whose feelings towards Jake is ambiguous at best.

Frank Dunn: Dela’s current “significant other”, Frank is a computer guru at Trout University that keeps the institutions networks running. Fank and Dela genuinely love one another but their relationship is rocky at time because of “interracial issues”.

Edith Piccadilly: Edith is a GELF (genetically engineered life form), specifically a four-foot high anthropomorphic mouse. Edith is attracted to both Jake and to Sue and is currently playing matchmaker to both, much to Sue’s annoyance. Edith’s introduction to the cast has alerted Dela that an entire underground community of anthropomorphs exists on Earth, castaways from other realities. Their existence suggests both hope and potential disaster as to the future as Dela gets drawn into their secret circle.

Fan Creations
A couple of fan-based stories exist of Dela and company as does various amounts of fan art. The largest fan-based project comes from Germany by a number of fans in that country to translate the comic into their native language as Dela die Hooda, making it one of the largest fan demographics for the strip.

Furtherance was a fanzine with three issues released between 1989 and 1991. Unlike most furry publications, which focus on delivering primary art and stories, Furtherance focused on secondary news, criticism and articles about other primary publications. It was the first such furry review zine.

The fanzine was produced by the Philadelphia-based Funny Animal Anti-Defamation League. Ray Rooney published the zine and co-edited with Luke Menichelli, who also did the design. Jonathan Cunningham, Mitch Marmel and Bill Thomas assisted with text entry and picture research.

Issues were US letter-sized, each roughly 40 pages, slim enough to be bound comic-style with a stapled spine. Covers were on colored paper, but both the covers and the interior pages were printed in black and white.

Issue #1
Furtherance #1 was the summer 1989 issue. It was 40 pages long, with a cover price of USD $2.50. Interior illustrations were contributed by Scott Alston, Shon Howell, and Colleen Winters.
Valiant Varmints was a one-shot comic published by Shanda Fantasy Arts under their SFA Spotlight banner in 1998.

The superhero team of the same name consisted of (in order of appearance) Moon Mouse, SnowBuni, Beatrix Farmer, Superswine, Savage Squirrel, Bullet Crow & Phantom Bunny, and Fission Chicken. Other members of the team not featured, but honourably mentioned are, Erma Felna, Liska, Corus, Red Shetland, the Tank Vixens, Milikardo Knights, Collars & Cuffs, and the Extinctioners. Like the Justice League of America they're based on, the Valiant Varmints have a secret hide-away, a super computer with wall screen, a slick looking jet vehicle, and a sense of self-importance that doesn't quit.

The story based on the typical framework of JLA with individual episodes centered on every character, finishing as a group team-up that forces a final showdown with the villain. Shane Fisher and Mike Curtis, who created the concept, wrote the framework. The episodes were written and illustrated by the character creators (in the same order Carl Gifford, Jeff Wood, Taral Wayne, Gary Fields, Kjartan Arnorsson, Chuck Fiala, and John P. Morgan.) Throughout the book clues appeared in each episode. While the individual writer/artists were free to write nearly anything they wished, they had to incorporate one of these clues, provided by Mike Curtis.

A second issue was planned as a crossover with DC Comics, to be entitled Captain Carrot and His Amazing Zoo Crew vs. The Valiant Varmints, but when licensing fell through, another tale was planned to include Atomic Mouse.
Atomic Mouse is a pioneer of the funny animal comic genre that first appeared in March 1953 and continued for 54 issues through June 1963. Created by Al Fago supposedly, his brother Vince Fago actually invented the character and did many of the stories. At the time Vince was doing a daily comic strip and wished to disassociate his name from comic books. Atomic Mouse was the first and most successful superhero series from Charlton Comics running into the 1960's with original material and occasional reprinted runs thereafter into the 1970's.

Atomic Mouse protected the citizens of Mouseville from the evil Count Gatto and his sidekick Shadow with the help of superpowers gained from U-235 pills developed by Professor Invento.

Modern age revival
Atomic Mouse was briefly reprinted in the '80s by the American Comics Group, and saw a revival through Shanda Fantasy Arts, first appearing in SFA Spotlight #11 in May 2001, then getting his own series in September 2001. Vince Fage, the creator and original artist, gave his blessing and even contributed some art for the new version.

The new comics provided a striking contrast by juxtaposing reprints of Vince Fago's original series with all-new stories and art in which Atomic Mouse is "transported" from the classic comics into modern-day "reality" to protect the city of Rodentia. In the new series, a planet of funny animals is threatened by a meteor and Professor LaSerne creates a machine that brings images to life, placing an ATOMIC MOUSE comic in front of it. Subsequently Atomic Mouse goes to the publishers of the comic, and they provide him a home and headquarters where he protects the city of Rodentia from such villians as the Mustard King (Poupon DeJean), Professor Pizarro and Super Rat. He has a romantic relationship with Lillian Mouse (a mouse of color) who writes and draws the comic, and a backup series focuses on the LEGION OF ALMOST VILLIANS, who are five minor powered crooks who seek to enhance their reputation by defeating AM, who is unaware of their existance. They even spawned a spinoff group, the Legion of Substitute Villians. Atomic Mouse relaxes in a civilian identiry of Vince Mouse, taking his name from the character's creator, and once had an adventure with the Charlton funny animal version (Meeting Atomic Rabbit in the process).

At one time, Tavatiana was betrayed by her counselors, Thade and Drent, to be experimented upon by Micheal Alan Avariss, sterilizing her in the procedure. Afterward, a living puppet constructed by the ancient Canovians would stand in her place, but ultimately, the Tavatiana puppet would later step down, leaving her aide Thalburd to take over.
Tavatiana and Cotton later transported themselves into the far-flung past of Canovia in secret for the impending birth of Michelle. Both have met a race of ancient Canovians called Demmons, a war-like tribe of Canovian rabbits. Their tribe leader tried to take the already-pregnant Tavatiana as a future breeder, but his own tribesmen stopped him, resulting in their dismemberment. The Demmon tribe leader was later defeated by the Canovian tribe leader, and the Demmons who tried to stop their tribe leader were healed.

Rowrbrazzle is an amateur press association (APA) magazine devoted to funny animal cartoon illustration, that for a long time was a bulwark for furry fandom. The word is a misspelling of "rowrbazzle!", an exclamation used at times by the characters in Walt Kelly's comic-strip "Pogo".

Rowrbrazzle was co-created by Marc Schirmeister and John Cawley in 1983 as a result of the cessation of its predecessor, Vootie, with the first issue being distributed to its first contributors in February 1984. Fred Patten took over as an official editor five years later, and as served in this position for the last 17 years, until he had to step down in 2005 due to illness. Mike Curtis, Edd Vick, Michael Susko and others are currently serving as interim editors until a new permanent editor is found.

The first issue was distributed to the association membership in February 1984, it is still published as of July 2005 (with over 86 quarterly issues so far), and it is continuing its uninterrupted 20 year run. Rowrbrazzle is always looking for new members. Furry writers and artists are invited to contact any of the interim editors.

Interior illustrations were contributed by Scott Alston, Shon Howell, and Colleen Winters.
