[[Image:Biker_Mice_from_Mars.jpg||thumb|200px|left|Left to right: Throttle, Vinnie and Modo]]
'''''Biker Mice from Mars''''' is a cartoon series about three [[mouse|mice]] from Mars -- Throttle, Vinnie, and Modo -- who crashed on Earth; in [[Wikipedia:Chicago|Chicago]], to be exact. They met up with (and rescued) an Earth mechanic named Charlene "Charley" Davidson. Together with Charley, the Biker Mice from Mars fought the evil Lawrence Limburger, and his henchmen, in an effort to keep the Plutarkians from stealing Earth's resources.

The Biker Mice from Mars initially ran from 1995 through 1997. A new continuation of the series, with more emphasis given on Stoker and Charley and with a new villain race known as the Catatonians, was produced and aired in the UK starting in 2006 (including a new toy line). In the US, the show ran on [[Wikipedia:4Kids|4Kids TV]] from the fall of 2008 until the end of the block in January 2009, and is now on hiatus in the USA (and no new episodes seem forthcoming). At one point, the 2006 series was the UK's highest rating children's show on any network, the new show sparking major interest in reruns of the old show and its toy line.

== Characters ==

=== Heroes ===

*Throttle: The tan-furred leader in the black leather vest. Calm and cool, he always has the answers. Until the very last episode, it was believed that Throttle was the only one of the three that came out of the war unscathed. However, as revealed in "Once Upon a Time on Mars", Throttle lost both his eyes and they were replaced by cybernetic --although malfunctioning-- eyes. Rides a black and chrome Harley-Davidson like motorcycle, changed to green in the 2006 revival. In the 1993 - 1996 series, she is known as "Lady".
*Vinnie: The white-furred daredevil with the silver mask, danger and excitement are his bread and butter. The silver mask on the right side of his face covers up injuries gained in the Plutarkian War. He rides a cherry-red racing bike.
*Modo: The gray-furred gentle giant, the muscle of the group. His left eye and right arm were both destroyed in the Plutarkian War; he now wears a eyepatch and has a mechanical right arm, and rides Lil' Hoss.
*Charley: A brown-haired, sweet female mechanic living in a more run-down part of Chicago. She repairs the Biker Mice's bikes and is usually the first to think up enhancements for them as well.

=== Villians ===

*Lawrence Limburger: A overweight, corrupt Plutarkian masquerading as a honest Earth business tycoon. His only desire is to strip-mine Chicago and thusly rise in the Plutarkian ranks.
*Dr. Karbunkle: The mad scientist allied with Limburger, and the go-to guy for mining technology, weapons, and general craziness.
*Greasepit: A huge --bigger even than Modo-- goon with very little brains. For a unknown reason, Greasepit drips grease all the time.
*Fred the Mutant: Not really evil, just loves pain. And the little guy made from spare parts knows he'll get more pain with the bad guys than with the good guys.
*Hairball (2006 series character): Supreme Commander of the Catatonians, he badly tries hides the fact that he's a short, incompetent, easily distracted dolt with an inferiority complex under a ton of military bravado. He has an unfortunate habit of gagging on hairballs at the most inopportune moments. His mission on Earth is to acquire Stoker's Regenerator and transform all planets in the galaxy into giant litterboxes to satisfy his people's way of life.
*Cataclysm (2006 series character): Hairball's bigger, more competent brother, Cataclysm is the man behind the curtain, the real driving force of the Catatonian army. Although perfectly content with his official mission, he has a secondary, more personal desire to wipe out - and devour - the entire Martian mouse population, a mission that has become part vendetta once the Biker Mice draw his fancy.
*Ronald Rump (2006 series character): Obviously parodying real-world industrial tycoon [[Wikipedia:Donald Trump|Donald Trump]], Ronald is the top land developer and marketeer in the world, having created his empire on the smoldering remains of Limburger's. He was the one to compel Stoker into creating the Regenerator by threatening Throttle's life, intent on using the device to further his land developing business. Once the old Regenerator was destroyed, he teamed up with and now finances the Catatonian invasion, in exchange for their compelling Stoker to create another.

=== Others ===

*Rimfire: Modo's young nephew. He's 19 when we first meet him, although we later see him at 16 and even younger. His mother is Modo's sister, and he has a sister of his own --twin, possibly-- named Primer. Rimfire has cream-colored fur and brown hair with an orange/blonde stripe down the middle. Having been taught manners by both his grandmother and his uncle, Rimfire is a perfect gentleman, using both "Miss" and "Ma'am" in woman's names (i.e., "Miss Charley Ma'am") In almost every episode he's appeared in, he gets captured.
*Carbine: The tough, sometimes bitchy leader of the Freedom Fighters on Mars. She has gray fur and black hair. Tough-as-nails General in the Martian Army, Carbine joined Stoker's Freedom Fighters when she realized the army wasn't doing any good. She's Throttle's girl, although their relationship is sometimes fragile due to the long distance between them. In the 2006 revival, she is revealed to be Stoker's niece.
*Stoker: The original leader of the Freedom Fighters. Older Mouse (guessing around in his 40's) and the teacher of the Biker Mice from Mars. He has chocolate brown fur, and long, brown --lightening with age-- hair. He's best described as a mature version of Vinnie. Stoker was captured, his tail replaced by a mechanical tail, and brainwashed to betray the Freedom Fighters. Luckily, he broke free. After a trip to Earth --when Rimfire broke him out of a Plutarkian prison-- Stoker returned to Mars to become a teacher. In the 2006 revival, he created the Regenerator, a machine that can manufacture practically anything that its user needs, and is subsequently captured by the Catatonians and forced to build another one for their ally, human industrialist Ronald Rump, when the first one is destroyed. Because of this, he is falsely labeled a traitor by his people, with only Vinnie giving him the benefit of the doubt. He was also affected by the power source of his machine, and now has to keep out of the sun, lest he transform into a [[wererat]] creature. Because of this, and his label as a traitor, he picks up the identity of Nightshift, to fight back against his captors.
*Harley: Seen in "Once Upon a Time On Mars" and "Turf Wars", this tan-furred, tan-haired Mouse was the mechanic/medic of the Freedom Fighters. Sort of a Martian Mouse version of Charley. She was one-third of a romantic triangle, along with Stoker and Vinnie. Harley supplied Vinnie's mask, and it was Vinnie who eventually ended up with her --for about two seconds, before Mace (who was a Rat that had infiltrated the Freedom Fighters) kidnapped her. She was seen last in the 2006 episode Turf Wars, as a slightly crazy bitch who desired the death of all Mice. Thankfully, she was dropped into a volcano, hopefully never to be seen again.
*Modo's Momma: Mentioned in just about every episode, but not seen until the final episode. Modo quotes her often.

== What is WikiFur? ==

The best way to find this out is to look through our pages and see for yourself! However, if you want an overview, here are the most important points:

* WikiFur is primarily an '''[[Wikipedia:Encyclopedia|encyclopedia]]''' - a '''collaborative project written by, for, and about the [[furry fandom]]'''.
* WikiFur aims to hold a '''[[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Neutral_Point_of_View|neutral point of view]]'''. Articles should '''attribute opinon''' to people or groups rather than stating it as fact. '''Disagreements should be characterised''' - stating all positions - rather than continued here.
* WikiFur is '''not a place to hurt people'''. Malicious edits, hate speech, ''et al'' is not welcome here. Stick to the facts!
* WikiFur is '''[[WikiFur:What WikiFur is not#WikiFur is not censored for the protection of minors|not censored for the protection of minors]]'''. Explicit or offensive content may exist where it is considered appropriate to a topic, although outright pornography is discouraged.
* WikiFur is '''not [[Wikipedia:|Wikipedia]]''', or simply a copy of Wikipedia. We have different aims, and where they converge, most non-furry topics are best left to Wikipedia. However, like Wikipedia, we ''do'' make decisions by [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Consensus|consensus]].

You can (and should! :-) read more about [[WikiFur:What WikiFur is|what WikiFur is]] and also [[WikiFur:What WikiFur is not|what it is not]].

== Exclusion of information ==

It is important to remember that WikiFur can (and should) be read by anyone and everyone. Information that might be appropriate to post on a private forum or talk about on [[FurryMUCK]] may not be appropriate for such a public venue.

In particular, sometimes a person may ask for valid information about them to be removed from WikiFur (unattributed opinion or libel should automatically be removed). As WikiFur is here to help members of the community, not harm them, it is ''usually'' appropriate to honour this request.

In a few cases, the use of the information (particularly on problematic individuals) may overrule the individual's desire for it to be there. In this case, particular care should be taken to ensure that the article remains neutral and factual.

'''See also''': [[WikiFur:Personal exclusion]], and the proposed expanded [[WikiFur:Personal information|personal information policy]]

=== Excluding links between players and characters ===

Some [[role-playing|players]] wish the information about them to remain separate from that of their [[character]]s, or wish two characters to remain separate from one another. Typically this would be because one character does things that the player feels would somehow harm them if known publicly. We generally allow this as long as it does not involve avoiding responsibility for harmful actions against others.

=== Excluding people entirely ===

Some people do not want information about them to be present in WikiFur. Some have retired from the furry fandom and want nothing to do with it, others feel it is too likely that people who do not like them will post information about them. This should not be abused to censor certain information but not other information: if the information is valid but the person concerned still does not want it posted, then it is probably best to just offer them the option of blanking their page entirely. As above, administrators may use their discretion to determine when someone is attempting to silence a valid criticism which is in the public interest to report, in which case they may refuse to do this.

== Blocking users ==

We don't want to bite the newbies. Try and understand that new users may be unused to the wiki way before you block them from editing. However, if a user (particularly an anonymous user) has never even tried to contribute anything useful you should consider blocking them, especially if you believe that they have come here solely intending to cause trouble and will continue doing so after being warned.

Initial blocks should probably be from 24 hours to 1 month depending on the severity of problems/number of pages affected. Future blocking is at the discretion of the administrator, subject to review. If necessary, you should use range blocks to block more than one IP, but be very careful with this feature. If you don't know how to use it, talk to [[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]].

== Protecting pages ==

Protection of pages is a very tempting administration tool. However, from the user's side, it raises a large barrier to contribution.

If you do protect a page, don't forget to add one of the [[WikiFur:Boiler_Plate_Text/Protection_Templates|protection templates]] to the page, and to remove both it and the protection when the trouble has passed!

=== Vandalism ===

In the event of a major vandal attack, it ''may'' be appropriate to protect pages. Do not go wild over this - WikiFur has enough users to handle occasional vandalism on isolated pages, so it's usually only necessary to protect the ''most popularly vandalised'' page, as this is likely to be where the vandals are entering WikiFur.

=== Revert wars ===

If there are a significant number of reverts on an article, it ''may'' be suitable for protection until it seems likely that enough discussion has occurred and consensus has formed on the article's talk page.

=== Protecting pages about excluded people ===

If a person has decided that they do not wish information about them to be included in WikiFur and there is no reason not to, the page should be protected and an appropriate message displayed upon it with the <nowiki>{{</nowiki>[[:Template:Protected-Excluded|Protected-Excluded]]}} tag.
The '''Russian WikiFur''' ('''ВикиФур''') is the [[wikipedia:Russian language|Russian-language]] edition of [[WikiFur]].

==History==
It was one of the first, alongside the [[Spanish WikiFur]], to be launched exclusively on the wikifur.com domain, and is also, statistically, the fastest growing in article count. By March 14, 2010, the Russian article count numbered over 1000 (the 1000th article being [[:ru:Пинки и Брейн|Пинки и Брейн]], or [[Pinky and the Brain]]), the first non-English WikiFur edition to cross that threshold<ref>[http://community.livejournal.com/wikifur/84660.html ''Russian WikiFur passes 1000-article mark''], by [[GreenReaper]] to {{lj-comm|wikifur}}</ref>.

==Differences==
The Russian WikiFur's rules were translated from English version, and the rule "You are the best judge of [what is related to furry community]" fully applies to Russian version. Only a small part of Russian furry community contributes regularly, so there is more tolerance for coverage of non-fandom anthro topics. Some of the most detailed articles describe topics not prominently featured in [[furry fandom]], such as mainstream [[anthropomorphic]] races and characters; others describe borderline anthropomorphics, such as mythological creatures and [[monster]]s from [[RPG]]s. [[Otherkin]], [[therian]] and [[draconity|dragon]]s are considered sister-communities, and related articles are welcome.

There are fewer articles on people compared to English WikiFur<ref>As of July 2010, there are about 6300 articles on people to 12 700 article count in English WikiFur (50%); there are 307 articles on people to 1218 article count in Russian WikiFur (25%).</ref>. Most non-species articles have one main author, usually the creator, with others only making minor changes or expanding a little. Due to article count, there are a lot of red links; some of them are superscripted with links to Wikipedia instead of direct linking, to encourage new contributions.

Initially the category structure was the same as in English WikiFur, but it had some revisions. Due to Russian linguistics, characters, races and people articles are placed in collective species categories (such as "[[Wolves]]", "[[Bats]]", etc.). They are differentiated by additional categories. Articles about movies, novels, games and other works are categorized by prominent species (sometimes several). Articles that describe characters (except for people) or something with characters have "character type" template that puts a bodytype icon in the top right corner (such as "anthro", "[[toon]]" or "mythological"); it also places the article in respective category.

The Russian WikiFur has several unusual traditions and extensions. Races and species article titles are written in plural to avoid confusion with furries that have the same name. There is a Portal namespace. As of July 2010, it contains just one portal: [[Felidae]]. It has automatic "Article of the day" block and sorted lists of felidae-related articles by various criteria (such as "People with [[jaguar]] [[fursona]]s", "Novels with felidae", "Fictional felidae species").
'''Alvin and the Chipmunks''' are a fictional musical group of [[anthropomorphic]] [[chipmunk]]s created by Ross Bagdasarian in 1958. The group consists of three singing chipmunks: '''Alvin''', the mischievous troublemaker, who quickly became the star of the group, '''Simon''', the tall bespectacled intellectual, and '''Theodore''', the chubby, impressionable sweetheart.

The trio is "managed" by their [[human]] "father" and confidant, David Seville. In reality, David Seville was Ross Bagdasarian's stage name, and the Chipmunks themselves are named after the executives of their original record label, Liberty Records: Alvin Bennett (the president), Simon Waronker (the founder and owner), and Theodore Keep (the chief engineer).

==Characters==
Audiences often assume the characters started as cartoons and branched out into music, but that is the opposite of how they began. After first being brought to life in Bagdasarian's 1950s novelty recordings under the name '''David Seville and the Chipmunks''', the characters were an unprecedented success, and the singing Chipmunks and their manager were given life in several animated cartoon series and motion pictures, including one that was released during Christmas 2007.

The voices of the group were all performed by Bagdasarian, who sped up the playback to create the higher pitched, squeaky voices. This process was not entirely new; Bagdasarian had also used it for a previous novelty song project, "The Witch Doctor", but it was so unusual and well executed it earned the "trio" two Grammy Awards for engineering. Although the characters were fictional, they did release a long line of "real" albums and singles, with "The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Don't Be Late)" becoming a number-one hit single in the United States. After his death in 1972, the voices of the Chipmunks were subsequently recorded by his son, Ross Bagdasarian, Jr., and his wife, Janice Karman, in all subsequent incarnations to date.
== Television ==
[[File:The Alvin Show Title Card.jpg|right|thumb|The Alvin Show]]
The first television series to feature the characters was The Alvin Show. The series ran from 1961 to 1962.<ref>[http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0054514/ The Alvin Show] at IMDB. Retrieved 2010 October 23.</ref>

From 1983 to 1990, 101 episodes of a TV series titled ''Alvin and the Chipmunks'' starring the above characters were produced, initially (1983-1987) by Bagdasarian Productions in association with Ruby-Spears Productions, and from 1988-1990 (renamed to simply ''The Chipmunks'') by [[DIC Entertainment]].

The show originally ran on NBC, and re-runs were aired during the late 1990s and the early 2000s on [[Nickelodeon]] and [[Cartoon Network]].

In 1990, Alvin, Simon, and Theodore also appeared in the animated anti-drug campaign TV movie ''Cartoon All-Stars to the rescue''.
==Movies==

The series spawned the animated feature film ''The Chipmunk adventure'', produced by The Samuel Goldwyn Company and released to theaters in 1987. It was followed by three direct-to-video sequels, ''Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein'' (1999), ''[[Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet the Wolfman]]'' (2000), ''Little Alvin and the Mini-Munks'' (2005), and two live-action movies, ''Alvin and the Chipmunks'' (2007) and ''Alvin and the Chipmunks 2:The Squeakquel'' (2009).

==Differences==

[[Image:Kanapi_by_myz@.jpg|right|thumb|98px|Kanapi as seen by the furry artist [[MyZ@]]]]
'''Kanapi''' aka '''K.Miles''' aka '''Hellion''' aka '''Kanapi Da Fox''' is a furry poet and musician. Born in 1990 in [[Wikipedia:Ostashkov|Ostashkov, Russia]], he is believed to preceed the five-years-after-the-new millennium generation of younger Russian furries for joining in at the age of fifteen.

Also known as the first one to promote rap music amongst furries by making his own and filling the lyrics with furry moods. One of his records, "[[Get Yiffed]]", contains the line ''"R.Kelly failed it but I guess I prevailed it, no I ain't here to promote male'n'male sh**"'' Thus, Kanapi may be accused of spreading "heterosexual yiff propaganda" among newcomer furries as a rapper, as none are usually any gayer than straight.

Kanapi moved to [[Wikipedia:Moscow|Moscow]] when he was a little cub. Since then he's been a guest at his birthplace.

Eminem being his main inspiration (''"He's the person to take from cause Shady was white and I got one of them colours you would not even like"'' - from a freestyle on hip-hop.ru), Kanapi partly shares his ideas and views, like Marshall's 'scenic insanity' and 'addiction to sex' (''"I never keep my d*** less than busy"'' - "[[Make Ya Proud]]").
'''Pawsru.org''' (former Paws.ru) is an image board based on the [[2ch]] style art community, where users can request and post [[furry]] related images.

Though hosted in [[:Category:Russia|Russia]], Paws.ru is an [[wikipedia:English language|English]]-speaking board. Mascot done by [[Krezz Karavan]].

== History ==
[[File:Pawslogo.gif|thumb|100px|Former Logo 2007 - 2009]]
On 19 December, 2008 Paws.ru was restarted after the database loss on December 12th. The image board also was updated to Kusaba 1.1.0 at the same time. March, 2010 Paws.ru has changed it's domain name to Pawsru.org.

== Mascot ==
[[File:PawsMascot.png|right|thumb|Paws.ru's mascot]]
Pawsru.org introduced a new mascot for the site on 2009. Said character is still unnamed (August 2009).

== DNP list ==

Paws.ru has a DNP (Do Not Post) list as of 2010:
* [[Heathen City]]: [[Alex Vance]] asked them to delete it
* Anything by Omega Ltd. (like Dragon Heat): the creators will complain if it's on there
* [[Incontinent Student Bodies]]: the admin doesn't like it
* Art by [[Artdecade]] (Not listed on DNP List): Artdecade is a mod on the boards
* Anything that involves scat (feces, urine): One of the mods doesn't like it.
* Anything from the [[Palcomix]] VIP section, Mobius Unleshed, and any other pay site in which [[Krezz Karavan]] is affilated: Krezz Karavan is a mod.
* Anything produced by [[Onta]] (such as [[HardBlush]] site images) that are not approved by Onta for distribution: Onta is a mod.
* Rukis' "Cruelty" 6 non-free porn pages: because the admin (bartimaeus) has "really enjoyed it".

== Boards ==

As of July 2009, the site contains six boards:
* [http://pawsru.org/fc/ /fc/] — Furry Comics
* [http://pawsru.org/m/ /m/] — Furry Male/Gay Art
* [http://pawsru.org/f/ /f/] — Furry Female/Straight Art
* [http://pawsru.org/flash/ /flash/] — Furry Flashes
* [http://pawsru.org/paws/ /paws/] — [[Paw fetish]]
* [http://pawsru.org/dis/ /dis/] — Discussion

Otf is moderator only in /Paws/ and does not read other boards.
Moderation seems to have ceased on all other boards, causing them to be overrun with trolls.
'''fchan''', also known as '''Fchan''' and '''Furchan''', is a [[furry]] imageboard. It was designed to be a [[2ch]] style art community based on the [http://wakaba.c3.cx/ wakaba] system where users can request and post [[furry]] related images in [[wikipedia:English language|English]].

== History ==

fchan was created in response to the loss of 5chan and thus the furry boards that were hosted there and also as a response to the refusal of the 4chan administrators to create a furry board (some artists complained that their work was being posted without their consent to 4chan's prank board, which led 4chan owner "moot" to declare that "this is why we can't have a furry board").

Although some have suggested that fchan may have been created in response to the [[wikipedia:April Fool's Day|April Fool's]] joke on 4chan in which a fake furry board was opened and then closed a few days later with the banning of all those who posted in it, fchan predates 4chan's prank.<ref><nowiki>http://encyclopediadramatica.com/index.php/April_Furs_Day</nowiki></ref>

fchan was designed to be the first 2chan-style image-board to cater specifically to furry related material. It was originally created by [[Dr. Pon]] in November 2004 and was hosted for free on freeserverhost.com. However, it soon ran into bandwidth limitations there, and hosting services were offered by [[hentaiplanet.net]]. Dr. Pon stepped down as administrator due to a lack of time to oversee fchan, and the users nominated [[Sage Freehaven]] as the new admin. In mid-2005, Sage Freehaven started handing control to a new team, led by [[Sage Nadia]], due to his impending loss of Internet access.

fchan was administered by [[Sage Nadia]] and moderated by [[Xenofur]] and [[Raven Rivers|Raven]] until late April 2006, when Sage Nadia stepped down and handed control over to Xenofur. Under Sage Nadia's administration, fchan deviated significantly from its original design of being a 2chan-style image-board: it is heavily moderated, not only for images, but also for comments deemed "disruptive" or otherwise overly antagonistic toward individuals, whether they be artists, other posters, or the site's staff. This is in sharp contrast with almost nonexistent moderation on 2chan, and the mostly-unobtrusive moderation of 4chan. In addition, the wakaba image-board software has been modified to highlight the site's most recent FAQs, and to provide a quick way for users to report comments and images they think should be removed. An attempt to create a furry image-board that stayed closer to the 2chan format, [[ChanPlz]], was short-lived.

fchan has evolved into a [[furry community]] meeting ground, a place for new artists to post their work and get feedback (sometimes more negative than positive), as well as a showcase for lesser known artists.

In December, 2007, Nadia once again took control of fchan<ref>http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Sage_Nadia#Return</ref>, resulting in some staff dismissal and some leaving of their own free will.

As an April Fool's day prank in 2010, the majority of the boards were re-routed to link only to /f/emale. The result was a backlash from a small percentage of site visitors feeling it was their duty to fight back by posting the most graphic /ah/ (alternative hard) material they could find, including multiple previously banned memes and live action animated gifs of animal slaughter, led to a decision by Nadia to shut the site down for a 24 hour period. Upon loading fchan, visitors were greeted with a page which explained the site was down due to immaturity.{{fact}} Her public statement also thanked another chan, /furi/, for playing into the joke as well as she had predicted.{{fact}}

===Banned and restricted artwork===

*March 2006 - Art depicting drug references was regulated to the /ah/ board<ref>[http://fchan.us/read.php/dis/1141286193/47 ''drug references not allowed?'']</ref> The official ruling by Nadia stated that depictions of drug use was allowed as long as it could not be interpreted as an instructional reference<ref>[http://fchan.us/read.php/dis/1141286193/51 ''drug references not allowed?'']</ref>.

*March 2008 - Fchan bans the posting of pornographic [[cub]] art.<ref>[http://fchan.us/read.php/dis/1204764192/1-40 "Several changes and clarifications in policy"] post by Xenofur</ref> Current policy, as posted by Nadia on /dis/ states, "Discussing CUB porn on /dis/ is grounds for immediate deletion without warning. If you wish to discuss fchan's policies relating this, contact a mod on IRC directly, they will happily answer you."<ref>[http://fchan.us/dis/ ''/dis/'']</ref> This announcement, and subsequent bans of some aggressive protesters, has drawn some criticism from the cub art community.{{fact}}

*June 2008 - Art depicting incestuous situations was also banned, to prevent any "loopholes" allowing the previously-banned cub art to be posted.

==Structure==
Due to the longer history of fchan in comparison to other furry image boards, fchan possesses a base standard hierarchy structure that has been followed (to various extents) by other competing image boards.

=== Normal Image Boards===
* [http://fchan.us/f/ /f/ (Female)] - "Lesbian or solo female pictures. (no males or herms allowed)"
* [http://fchan.us/m/ /m/ (Male)] - "Gay or solo male pictures. (no females or herms allowed)"
* [http://fchan.us/toon/ /toon/ (Toon)] - "Images drawn in a toony style and non-morphic characters. It is NOT meant for cartoon characters drawn in a realistic style. These belong in their relevant boards," as per [http://fchan.us/read.php/faq/1238098153/1-40 this thread]
* [http://fchan.us/a/ /a/ (Alternative)] - "Pictures of anything that wouldn't be considered "normal" furry porn, but is considered acceptable fetish by the majority of the fandom. (bondage, bukkake, micro/macro, tentacles, oviposition, hypnosis/mind-control, etc.)"
* [http://fchan.us/ah/ /ah/ (Alt(hard))] - "Pictures of the really hardcore stuff and that which squicks the majority of the fandom (guro, non-consentual, rape, scat, violence, vore, watersports, drug use, etc.) [[Babyfurs]] that are not clearly adult, and Cub art, will not be tolerated."
* [http://fchan.us/c/ /c/ (Clean)] - "Non-pornographic furry pictures. This board should be worksafe at all times."

==Do Not Post Policy==

While some [[artist]]s (such as [[Kacey Miyagami]], [[Wookiee]] and [[James Hardiman]]) use fchan as a free advertisement tool and a way to contact their fans, others have requested that their work not be distributed on fchan, resulting in a [[Do Not Post]] list. Anyone intentionally violating the Do Not Post list is banned from posting on the image boards. However, inclusion on the DNP requires an "opt out" request<ref>[http://fchan.us/read.php/faq/1144430020/l40 "How to" properly request to be added to the DNP]</ref> on the part of the artist, or third party representative, which has to be made directly to the admin of the site and includes an identity verification. This additional policy was put in place after a number of attempts by unauthorized parties who attempted to impersonate artists and get them placed on the DNP list when they either enjoyed their artwork being posted or were neutral to the site.

Some believe this policy runs counter to the wishes of artists who have [[Leave The Fandom|left the fandom]]. These people are not around to apply for membership within the DNP list, and therefore their work will be distributed even if they have specified on the work itself that it is not to be copied.

== Downtimes ==

fchan used to be hosted for free on the experimental server of a private hosting company. Due to this there was a number of calamities that befell fchan, such as: Hardware failures in the server, the server rack or its power supply; hardware damage during maintenance; power outages to the datacenter or problems when the ISP changes their DNS configuration. Since then, fchan has moved servers to hentaiplanet.net. Up until now only one database corruption and not a single downtime can be attributed to the software itself, while all downtimes can be attributed to server failures.
Genitalia

Leo Rex: +ru

'''Genitalia''' are defined as the sex organs, or any anatomical parts of the body which are involved in sexual reproduction and constitute the reproductive system in a complex organism.

== Genitalia and furry ==

Many [[furries]] that detail their character's form to include anatomical correctness need to choose whether to use [[human]]-like or [[animal]]-like genitalia.

In [[furry art]], the depiction of genitalia is what generally separates the ratings, mature art showing the "naughty bits." Genitalia can be depicted as human-like or more realistic to the type of animal drawn. This is most commonly a question among [[male]] and [[hermaphrodite|hermaphroditic]] characters, since the penis varies much more widely between species than the vagina.

== Penises ==

There are many that utilize a [[humanoid]] penis, many of which have such a penis inside a sheath. Many others include animalistic features.

For example, [[canine]] male characters may have a canine penis with a chisel tip and the process of a knot at the base. [[Feline]]s may have a sharply-pointed glans covered in soft barbs. [[Equine]]s often have a comparatively larger penis, many with a flaring, mushroom-shaped glans. Serious [[kangaroo]] males may have a long, tapering, crooked penis, [[Wikipedia:Cloaca|Cloaca]] instead of a sheath and even have their testicles hanging ''above'' their [[Wikipedia:Cloaca|Cloaca]] instead of below like a anatomical correct [[Wikipedia:Marsupial|Marsupial]]

The tastes of heterosexual [[female]]s, herms and [[homosexual]] males in regards to genitalia varies greatly. Some may seek out animalistic features, while others may be ambivalent, and still others are averted from such features and favor humanoid genitals.

== Vagina/Vulva ==

While there are many that utilize a humanoid vagina, there are some exceptions. Some examples are the Y-slit [[Wikipedia:Vulva|vulva]] of canine furs. Animalistic vulvae are extremely rare in [[anthropomorphic]] artwork.

'''Whiskers''' are long, sensitive hairs that grow on the heads of most [[mammal]]s. Usually they are most noticeable around the [[muzzle]] area, but can also be seen above the eyes as well. They can be used for navigation and judgment of space. The proper term for one of these hairs is a ''vibrissa'' (plural ''vibrissae'').

Some [[furs]] wear whiskers to more closely identify with their [[fursona]]s; [[StalkingCat]] has gone so far as to use whisker-holder [[Wikipedia:Transdermal implant|transdermal implants]].

=== Did you know? ===

* [[Cat]]s' whiskers are especially sensitive. They're twice as thick as normal hairs, and their roots are set three times deeper in the tissue. They allow a cat to feel air currents and locate the position of prey inches below their face. They are as long as their bodies are wide, allowing them to judge if they can fit through a space. However, when housecats eat out of a bowl, their whiskers touch the edge. This creates an irritating sensation, and some cats dislike eating food at the bottom of a bowl because of it.
* In mythology, [[dragon]]s' whiskers are said to grant great strength

[[Image:digiplant.gif|thumb|right|Comparison of digitigrade and plantigrade feet.]]'''Digitigrade''' refers to a style of anatomy of the limbs used for walking, specifically where the weight is placed on the digits, but not on the heels. Most mammals, including [[felines]] and [[canines]] have this stance or the more extreme [[unguligrade]] stance. (Notably [[primate]]s, [[bear]]s, [[raccoon]]s, [[rabbit]]s, and a few others are plantigrade.)

For some [[furs]], whether a [[species]] that is normally digitigrade is [[anthropomorphic|anthropomorphized]] as plantigrade or digitigrade is considered an important differentiation between artistic styles. It is also not uncommon for those describing their [[furry]] [[character]]s in writing to state whether that character is plantigrade or digitigrade.

Some people who describe themselves as [[furry lifestyler]]s will often walk on the balls of their feet in an attempt to emulate the behavior of digitigrade animals.
Hoof

'''Hoof''' is the name given to the toenail of any ''ungulate'' mammal (which itself means "having hooves"), possibly excepting the hippopotamus. In ''perissodactyls'', including the horses and tapirs, there are an odd number of hooves per foot, and in ''artiodactyls'', including domestic cattle of various kinds as well as giraffes and camels, there are an even number.

== The hoof in artwork ==

In [[furry]] and [[funny animal]] art, there are two basic schools of thought for adapting the front feet of a character that naturally has hooves.

In one, the hoof is left as-is, and the character manipulates objects by "natural" or unnatural means.

In the other, the hoof is replaced by a hand with hoof-like fingers. [[SueDeer]]'s personal character is an example of this approach. In the case of Dan Canaan's character Flinthoof Ponypal, there is something of a compromise with three fingers instead of five.
Hair

{{cleanup}}
'''Hair''' is a generic term referring to a specialized structure of the outer skin of mammals that serves multiple purposes, such as insulation, waterproofing, and hygiene.
Unfortunately, hair may also serve as a safe harbor to parasites such as fleas. The term ''hair'' can be applied to either an individual strand or shaft, or collectively to the coat formed when large numbers of hairs cover a given area of the skin.

== Hair In Furry Anatomy ==
Since the body hair of most mammals is usually referred to as ''[[fur]]'', that term has carried over. In referring to the hair of the head, however, when a [[character]] is portrayed as having hair on the head like a [[human]], this hair may be referred to as either ''hair'' or ''headfur''.

Hair or fur in [[furry]] is oftentimes a means of making a character specially distinctive, usually by means of unusual colorations, patterns, or styles (such as braids).

'''Headfur''' in [[furry art]] and [[fursuit]]s is the fur on the head where the hair would be and is longer than the rest of the fur and usually a different colour.
