==History==
Actually, "LawnCon" is one of the many funny anecdotes on the history of [[furry]] lore. This term was coined by furry publisher [[Mike curtis]] during the actual [[Anthrocon 2002]] event.

As the story goes, after the con had actually ended, [[Mike curtis|Mike]] and [[Carole curtis]] were about to be driven back to Connecticut by their common friend, [[Boyce Kline]], after packing themselves and their belongings into Kline's car, when suddenly, Kline stopped the car and stepped out, after they had barely started to drive off the parking lot

Sitting right down on the lawn in front on the hotel, was furry art publisher Kevin Duane, with all the furry merchandise he had hoped to sell at the con. Kline walked over to him, Kevin opened up a small case, and they talked for a few minutes. After that, Kline came back with some merchandise he had bought from Kevin.

Mike curtis then asked Kline: "How was '''LawnCon'''?."

To which Kline replied: "Pretty short, but the [[Dealer's room|Dealer's Room]] was huge!."

The '''Jack Lynch Mysteries''' are a series of six semi-[[furry]] hardboiled detective SF stories by [[Clint Warlick]] totalling around 36500 words, five of which were published in ''[[Yarf!]]'' between 1991 and 1997.

After Clint dropped out of the fandom and stopped writing the series, he surfaced in 2004 in the [[Dealers' Den]] of the first [[Califur]] with a self-published collection of all six stories.

==Premise==

A cross-genre blend of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard-boiled_detective hardboiled detective], near-future biopunk, and post-holocaust aftermath SF, sort of "[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dashiell_Hammett Dashiell Hammett] meets [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordwainer_Smith Cordwainer Smith] around the time of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_runner ''Blade Runner'']". With furries.

Though on the surface the premise sounds similar to [[S. Andrew Swann|Andrew Swann]]'s ''[[Forests of the Night]]'' trilogy, the details and treatment are very different.

==Setting==

The stories appear to be set in a future San Francisco Bay area; though "The City" is never openly stated as being San Francisco, it is inferred from secondary locations that are mentioned. Clint also does not pin down the time period, but internal evidence suggests the middle of the 21st Century. This makes the series slightly "unstuck" in time and place.

The near-future milieu has many deliberately "retro" elements and atmosphere reminiscent of the 1930s to 1950s, fitting the hardboiled detective genre.

'''History/Background:'''

A generation and a half ago, a worldwide pandemic ("The Plague") swept the world, killing off most of the world's population. Even First World countries lost at least half their population to The Plague Years, never mind the series of bush wars that exploded among the survivors afterwards as the virus melted down civilization.

First among the First World, the USA survived with the least disruption, though still at a cost of half its people and technological base and most of its economy to the necessity of survival. Afterwards, as the world recovered and memories slowly faded, a reaction similar to the 1950s (after the Great Depression and WW2) set in, a forced "return to normalcy" after the Great Crisis.

During and after the Plague Years, most high technology stagnated or regressed slightly due to the die-off of skilled and knowledgable manpower to maintain it. The only exception to this was biotech and genetic engineering, from the desperation to dicover a cure and/or vaccine before humanity died off completly. They succeeded barely in time, and the biotech fallout from the interim haunts the world to this day.

Besides the obvious search to engineer a cure/vaccine, other biotech "Manhattan Projects" included genetically-engineering post-human or semi-human species in an attempt to leave somebody behind to carry on if (as seemed likely) humanity became extinct.

When the Plague finally ended, the country was desperately short of manpower to recover and under threat from surviving "have-nots" whose countries had collapsed completely into tribal raid-and-pillage survival mode. With 21st Century weaponry. Genetic-engineering from the Plague Years promised a way to meet that manpower shortage.

The Repopulation Act triggered production of semi-human genetic constructs -- pookas, kappas, and others. Legally, the labor of these constructs was indentured for seven years from decanting, after which they became free agents -- as often as not turning on their former owners for mistreatment. The solution for this legal liability was to begin engineering most constructs with a deliberate seven-year lifespan, ensuring they would not live long enough to see their freedom -- and be able to start filing lawsuits.

The result was a return of a form of chattel slavery -- and a huge black market for "Retro", the engineered retrovirus that let seven-year constructs live past The Big Seven and see their freedom.

==Terminology==

* '''Pookas''' are animal-appearing consructs, providing the furry element. Most all the current generation are engineered sterile with a seven-year lifespan, but there are exceptions. Their "upright talking animal" appearance is deliberate, so they are easier to view as non-human animals or pets, i.e. "Not really one of us".

* '''Kappas''' are reptile-based constructs otherwise similar to pookas. Mentioned as a background element, "scale-heads" do not actually appear in the stories, as North American climate is normally too cold for them.

* '''Constructs''' are the catchall term for non-pooka, non-kappa constructs, usually of human or near-human appearance. Examples include the "Ogres", massively strong near-humans engineered as soldiers (and probably resembing movie Uruk-Hai) and "Goldenboys", classic ubermenschen not interfertile with humans (who keep such a low profile they're considered mere rumor). Most of these do not have the seven-year kill-switch. (Soldier-types do not because of the tradition that "Armed Forces service brings citizenship" and pressure from human veterans who served with them, though they are still normally engineered sterile.)

* '''The Big Seven''' is a construct's seventh birthday (counted from decanting), when they legally become free persons instead of chattel property. Also the pooka word for "death", as most of them are engineered with a lifespan of just under seven years.

* '''Retro''' is the engineered retrovirus that deactivates the seven-year kill-switch, allowing a construct to survive the Big Seven and live out a normal lifespan. Technically illegal, but unofficially tolerated by the authorities and available through the right channels.

==Main Continuing Cast==

* '''Jack Lynch''' -- Main character, a private detective since he was fired from the police force years ago (scapegoat in a scandal). Since then, he has operated hand-to-mouth as a small-time private eye, unconsciously following many of the shticks of the hardboiled detective genre. Since the events of ''Ocelots Have Spots'', his business has improved at the cost of more and more of his clients being pookas or other constructs, which has given him the street name of "The Pooka Detective". All stories are narrated by Jack in first-person. Jack is deliberately never physically described.

* '''Sue''' -- Jack's red-fox-pooka secretary, hired during the events of ''Ocelots Have Spots''. An old movie and mystery fan as well as a highly-competent "Vixen Friday", she keeps pointing out similarities between Jack and various pop-culture fictional detectives, to Jack's continuing bewilderment.

* '''Connie''' -- Sue's roomie, a cougarette-pooka nightclub singer, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maguffin maguffin] of ''Puma Sings the Blues''. Connie was originally a pet/toy for a drug dealer, who got her hooked on just about everything he dealt, legal or illegal. Mr Lawrence won her in a card game and got her cleaned up, retroed, and unhooked from most everything except cigarettes. Except for ''Puma Sings the Blues'', she is mostly a background element; her party-girl behavior often drives Sue out of their apartment and into [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexile sexile] in Jack's office. (The names "Connie & Sue" were orignally a pun on "Konny & Czu", title of a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Howarth Matt Howarth] indy comic.)

* '''Mister Lawrence''' -- Human businessman/philanthropist, widely hailed as "The Pookas' Savior", but after dealing with him Jack has his doubts. This was to eventually lead to a major falling-out between Lawrence and Jack.

* '''Tsar Boris''' -- "The Tsar of Pookatown", a nine-foot expensively-dressed bear-pooka who runs organized crime in Pookatown; think Marvel Comics' [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kingpin_%28comics%29 "The Kingpin"] as a Kodiak bear with a thick (and artificial) Russian accent. In many ways, he shapes up to be the "Anti-Lawrence", a "Pooka Savior" in his own (thoroughly-illegal) way.

* '''Roxy Blue''' -- Seven-foot-tall female blue dragon, a one-off [[draconid]]-pooka built without the seven-year lifespan. Nine years old, total sexpot, with a total schoolgirl crush on Jack since he helped her get her freedom (and sent her former owner to Five-to-Ten in Folsom) two years ago. Her often-clueless pursuit of Jack is a continuing nuisance.

==Published Stories==

* '''''Ocelots have Spots''''' (''Yarf'' #17, November 1991) -- Introductory story where Jack is hired by Mr Lawrence to track down an ocelot-pooka with an important implanted data-chip. The case takes him into the underworld (almost literally). In the process, he hires Lawrence's ward Sue as his secretary, setting him on the path to becoming "The Pooka Detective".

* '''''Puma Sings the Blues''''' (''Yarf'' #26, September 1993) -- Classic hardboiled murder mystery where Connie has been framed for killing her slimy boss at the club and Jack has to clear her.

* '''''Squirrel in a Stew''''' (''Yarf'' #40, January 1996) -- Raquel "Rocky" Brunswick, a desperate squirrel-pooka nearing The Big Seven, needs Jack to score her some retro. Unknown to Jack, she is also in big trouble with Tsar Boris. Introduces both Tsar Boris and (in a cameo) Roxy Blue.

* '''''Blue Dragon Blues''''' (''Yarf'' #43, August 1996) -- Roxy Blue walks into one of Jack's investigations -- literally -- and Jack has to drag her out. Originally combined with ''In Sheep's Clothing'' as one continuous novelette; published in ''Yarf'' as a separate short.

* '''''In Sheep's Clothing''''' (''Yarf'' #47, March 1997) -- Jack has to save the life of one Emma Cheviot, a sheep-pooka who knows too much about a big-time fraud, before someone turns her into seatcovers. In addition, a stalker is after Roxy Blue, in a continuation of ''Blue Dragon Blues''. Jack has to keep both balls in the air hiding out both dragoness and ewe.

* '''''When I Had a Real Job''''' (Self-published collection, first [[Califur]], 2004) -- Non-furry flashback story detailing how Jack got fired from the police department years ago; actually written around 1998.

'''Craig Loewen (aka Heavy Horse, C. A. Loewen, C. Alan Loewen, The Sinister Minister)''' (b. 1 November 1954) is a pastor in rural Pennsylvania whose primary interest in furry fandom is anthropomorphic-themed writing. He discovered furry fandom through [[Greywolf|Jordan "Greywolf" Peacock]]'s unicorn artwork. His fan name "Heavy Horse" comes from his interest in equines both magical and mundane as well as a tribute to the song made famous by the rock group Jethro Tull.

Five of his stories (written under the name C. Alan Loewen) were published in ''[[PawPrints]]'' during that [[fanzine]]'s lifetime. Outside of the furry community, his fiction ranges from [[Wikipedia:My Little Pony|My Little Pony]] fanfics to [[Wikipedia:Lovecraft|Lovecraftian Horror]]. He is currently making the rounds for professional publication of his first novel (''Seven Sisters'', a children's/young adult fantasy) as well as a few short stories (including "Canticle of the Wolf" and "Coventry House" originally published in ''PawPrints'') and is collaborating with [[Ken Pick]] on a second (''Adventures of Jill Noir'', a semi-furry space-opera).

He also moderates/hosts [[The Unicorn and Gryphon]] on Yahoo groups, as well as Christian_Fic2 (Christian genre fiction) and Unicorn Writers (equine-based genre fiction).

In mundane life, he currently pastors two small churches north of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, USA; the only furry [[convention]] he attends is [[Anthrocon]] (mostly because it's local).
His furry art is mostly portraits of retro-glam female furries.

In the past couple years, Ken has stopped his furry art to concentrate on writing; he has published a number of stories and article about the [[WebFed Universe]] in ''[[Yarf]]'', background essays on [[Ken Fletcher]]'s [[Spontoon Island]], and is currently working on collaborations with [[Craig Loewen]] and [[Chris Litzau]] and editing some of [[Eric Hinkle]]'s furry sword-and-sorcery as well as (slowly) continuing work on [[WebFed Universe|WebFed]].

'''Bonnie''' is a *femme-fatale* [[mouse]] [[character]], created by none other than the extraordinary [[Dean Dodrill]]. Without a doubt, she is his pride and joy, thus his baby! Created somewhat after Dean himself, Bonnie is half-Korean. Her fur is two different tones of tan, and she has nice long ultramarine blue hair. Wardrobe-wise, she wears a pale-light turquoise-blue two-piece warrioress ensemble.

Bonnie was officially born, from Dean's heart and soul (let alone drawing out), on November 1st, 1993. Being the mousess character she's grown and evolved to be, she physically started small (more rodent-like) in a few rare animation experiments. One of which is ''[["Living On A Prayer"]]'' (featuring that song too). Another of which is ''[["Morning Bonnie"]]'', where she's awakened by her "blob-puppy" [[Bopo]]. Since then, Bonnie evolved into having a more human-like body, as Dean continued to experiment with such, it was time to make a more exciting character in Bonnie...as the big heroine for his dream-film project ''[["Elysian Tail"]]''. In it, Bonnie must put her sword-wielding skills to the ultimate plot-test when the unthinkable happens in her home-community, also involving her trainer/mentor [[Leddinger]], and (to whom she's like a big sister to) his young daughter [[Tika]].

With Bonnie, there is no better mousess to really touch one's heart, being Dean's baby!

This category contains articles and sub-categories about '''People''' connected to the [[Furry Fandom]].
__NOEDITSECTION__ __NOTOC__
==About this Category==
Know about someone? Write a page and add it to this category! In general, it is best to use the name by which people go in the community - either a nickname or their real name. Be as specific as possible, to avoid nickname collisions.

If both nickname and real name are publicly used, write the nickname and use a redirect (<nowiki>#REDIRECT [[NickName]]</nowiki> on its own) to point the real name to it. It's probably not a good idea to link a real name to a person that only goes by their nickname, even if you know it. Some people prefer to be anonymous - please respect that! :-)

If you are listed here but do not wish to be, please [[WikiFur:Policy/Exclusion|read this]] and (for further explanation), [[WikiFur:Personal information|this]].

If people fit in a subcategory like [[:Category:Artists|Artists]], please put them in the People category ''and'' the subcategory, so we can have a complete list of people. This probably shouldn't apply to lower-down layers, so if someone is well known as a [[:Category:Comic artists|comic artist]], don't put them in Artists as well.

== People to add ==

If you can think of someone that deserves writing about, add them in here, and maybe someone will. Don't let that stop '''you''' writing about someone, including yourself!

'''Please note''': Make sure that people have <nowiki>[[Category:People]]</nowiki> somewhere, and characters have <nowiki>[[Category:Characters]]</nowiki>, so they'll show up in those respective categories. Adding/categorising characters/people won't remove them from this list, so please remember to do so yourself.

'''Scroll to the bottom to see ''existing'' articles about people.'''

Ken Pick: Etymology of word

'''Fantards''' (also known as '''Furry Retards''') is a derogatory term word used by both [[Furries]] and [[Anti-furries]].

The word itself is an obvious agglutination/contraction of "[[Fanboy]]" and "Retard", and is not specifically furry. Though apparently originating among furry fandom, "Fantard" could just as easily apply to extreme fanboys of any fandom.

== Meanings ==
*'''Furries''':
:The term is used mostly by [[Furry artist]]s to describes those few furry fans whose social interactions with an artist, in their simple pursuit of acquiring any kind of free or commissioned furry artwork from them, borders on the just downright pathological. This term does '''not''' include those furry fans that may be a little impatient, obsessive, a little rude, or simply just lacking a few lessons short of a manner's degree.

:Often with a total unacceptable lack of social graces or manners, their behavior has been extensively discussed publicly in such terms as "incredibly annoying," "creepy," "manipulative," "dense," "obnoxious," or simply, "stupid." Artists involved in this art "exchange" will often complain about their inability to convey their ideas properly, their artistic nitpicking, their obsessive demands for changes, their paying methods (or lack off,) and the incessant amount of e-mails, phone calls or web posts requesting information on their commission (or, again, the lack off) that often reach a "stalking" level. Information about these "art patrons" is shared today by various methods to warn any future artists about the "complications" involved in dealing with such individuals.

:This appears to be the default definition.

*'''Anti-furries''':
:The term simply describes any furry fan and/or artist, deserving of the title or not.

:This definition appears to be used only by [[anti-furries]].

Ken Pick: Added page

A series of six semi-furry hardboiled detective SF stories by [[Clint Warlick]] totalling around 36500 words, five of which were published in [[Yarf]]! between 1991 and 1997.

After Clint dropped out of the fandom and stopped writing the series, he surfaced in 2004 in the [[Dealers' Den]] of the first [[Califur]] with a self-published collection of all six stories.

==Premise==

A cross-genre blend of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard-boiled_detective hardboiled detective], near-future biopunk, and post-holocaust aftermath SF, sort of "[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dashiell_Hammett Dashiell Hammett] meets [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cordwainer_Smith Cordwainer Smith] around the time of [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blade_runner ''Blade Runner'']". With furries.

Though on the surface the premise sounds similar to [[S. Andrew Swann|Andrew Swann]]'s ''[[Forests of the Night]]'' trilogy, the details and treatment are very different.

==Setting==

==Terminology==

==Main Continuing Cast==

* '''Connie''' -- Sue's roomie, a cougarette-pooka nightclub singer, maguffin of ''Puma Sings the Blues''. Connie was originally a pet/toy for a drug dealer, who got her hooked on just about everything he dealt, legal or illegal. Mr Lawrence won her in a card game and got her cleaned up, retroed, and unhooked from most everything except cigarettes. Except for ''Puma Sings the Blues'', she is mostly a background element; her party-girl behavior often drives Sue out of their apartment and into sexile in Jack's office.

* '''Tsar Boris''' -- "The Tsar of Pookatown", a nine-foot expensively-dressed bear-pooka with a thick (and artificial) Russian accent. Runs organized crime in Pookatown; in many ways, he shapes up to be the "Anti-Lawrence", a "Pooka Savior" in his own (thoroughly-illegal) way.

* '''Roxy Blue''' -- Seven-foot-tall female blue dragon, a one-off draconid-pooka built without the seven-year lifespan. Nine years old, total sexpot, with a total schoolgirl crush on Jack since he helped her get her freedom (and sent her former owner to Five-to-Ten in Folsom) two years ago. Her often-clueless pursuit of Jack is a continuing nuisance.

==Published Stories==

* '''''When I Had a Real Job''''' (Self-published collection, first [[Califur]], 2004) -- Non-furry flashback story detailing how Jack got fired from the police department years ago.

'''Lawrence Clinton Warlick III''' (aka '''Clint Warlick''' or '''"Great White Buffalo"''') was an amateur writer active in the fandom in the 1990s. He is best known in the fandom for his ''[[Jack Lynch Mysteries]]'', an unfinished series of five cross-genre (furry/hardboiled detective/near-future SF) stories published in ''[[Yarf]]'' and collected (with an unpublished sixth story) in a self-published collection at the first [[Califur]].

Oddly, his fan name of "Great White Buffalo" did not originate in furry fandom; it was coined by co-workers at his mundane job in the early Nineties.

His last known location (at the time he went inactive, around 2000) was in Southern California, USA.

Ken Pick: Added First Generation Skiltare section

The '''Skiltaire''' (or '''Skiltare''') are a [[species]] of alien (not originating on Earth) intelligent [[weasel]]-like animals. They were created by [[Mark Merlino]] (Sylys Sable) in the late 1970s as a non-human sentient species for a series of science fiction stories.

==Physiology==
[[Image:PrancingSkiltaire.png|thumb|right|A [[The Prancing Skiltaire|prancing Skiltaire]]]]
Skiltaire vary in size, depending on sub-species and gender, but on average have a body length of 1 yard, not including a 1/2 yard [[tail]]. Body weight range is 60 to 120 lbs for an adult. They closely resemble Earth mustelids (weasels) and occur in two body-types. The '''aquatic''' type looks like a large [[otter]], with a short, broad muzzle, small, rounded ears and a thick, tapering tail. The '''arboreal''' type resembles a marten, with a more fox-like face (though the muzzle is short), and a brush tail.

The fur of skiltaire can be any color, although aquatics tend to be limited to gray, brown, light blue, tan, or cream. They often have a single wide or multiple thinner stripes that run up their back, from tail-tip to the top of their head, and darker paws (boots) and ear-tips. The stripes can be any color, and are usually much darker or more intense.

A '''neon''' skiltaire has a stripe of highly contrasting color, darker in the middle and grading to pastel edges so that the stripe seems to glow. The neon pattern is most common in aquatics because the base fur color of aquatics tends to have less range the their stripe colors and allows the stripe to contrast more strongly.

A '''flame''' skiltaire is a color variation exclusive to arboreals where the fur colors are yellow, orange and red in any standard pattern, so that the fur looks like fire.

Skiltaire have large eyes (for better dark-vision) and 4-pointed star-shaped pupils.

An obvious characteristic on all skiltaire is a pair of 10" antennae which grow from just above the eyebrow. The antennae are the detector part of the animal's natural electrostatic field sense ability. The antennae are modified eye whiskers, and are made up of large interlocking sections that have small, back-facing barbs at the junction of each section. Aquatics possess relatively straight antennae, with a single kink at mid-length, whereas the antennae of arboreals are curled into loose spirals.

The body of a skiltaire has electrogenerative tissue below the skin and insulated from the internal organs, much like an electric eel. The electricity produced by the animal is typically used for precise location detection and motion sensing in air (1-50 yard range) and under water (1-100 yard range). The electrical effect is used as an intimate greeting between animals, for stimulation during mating (induced ovulation), and also serves as a desperate defense against an attacker (contact only).

==Psychology==
Skiltaire are natural tele-empaths (analog telepaths), and use this ability to communicate with other skiltaire, other aliens with similar abilities, and to aid in hunting. Analog telepathy involes sending and recieving complete sense and thought 'streams' of brain-wave activity, which the sender can control. The effect is that the receiver actually "feels" and "sees" and experiences that the sender transmits, whether it is a current experience, a vivid memory, or a constructed dream.

==Culture==
Skiltaire are true carnivores and hunt live prey, though their diet includes much variety. Most modern skiltaire are hunter-gatherers, with some farming common in larger tribes.

==Media Appearances==
Artists who have produced a body of work featuring skiltaire include [[Mark Merlino]], [[Ken Pick]], [[Ken Sample]] and [[Michael Sherman]]. They are also one of the popular fur-fan created races for online role-playing ([[MUD]]s and other MU*s). The species has also made the following specific appearances:
* The original skiltaire, [[Theta]], became a logo-character for her creator and appeared in many science fiction 'zines and [[APA]]s, on event posters at science fiction and comic [[conventions]], and in commissioned art.
* [[Fanta]] is the mascot of the [[Cartoon/Fantasy Organization]].
* Skiltaire were one of the 10 sentient species (9 furry and humans) in the SF/FRP game [[Other Suns]], published in 1983.

==First Generation Skiltaire==
A partial list of the first Skiltaire created, from the late 1970s to early 1980s.

* '''[[Theta]]''' -- "Skiltaire Prime", the first one created in the mid-to-late 1970s. Female Arboreal, overall medium blue (no backstripe or trim) with yellow belly, medium-curl antennae. Wore a pendant of the Greek letter "Theta" on a chain around her neck.

* '''[[Fanta]]''' -- Mascot of [[Cartoon/Fantasy Organization|C/FO LA]] in the late 1970s-early 1980s. Female Aquatic, light grey with single magenta backstripe/ear-tips/booties/gloves, white belly. Medium-long, slightly-wavy antennae.

* '''Sy''' -- Originally Fanta's male companion, later became [[Mark Merlino]]'s fursona. Male Aquatic, light-medium grey with single purple backstripe/ear-tips/booties/gloves, white belly. Long straight antennae with a peculiar sharp "kink" halfway up their length.

* '''Ora''' -- Fursona of Linda Joy Browne, Mark's girlfriend from approx. 1980-82. Female Arboreal, two-tone gold (darker gold with lighter double backstripe & trim), white belly, medium-curled antennae. Bit of a ditz; often wore reading glasses.

* '''Midori''' -- Japanese ''Skirutaru''. Female Arboreal, two-tone green (medium green with darker dual backstripe) with white belly, medium-curled antennae. Anime fan.

* '''Nixie''' -- "Miss Skiltaire October" for abortive "Skiltaire Calendar" project circa 1979 or 1980. Female Arboreal, overall jet-black with orange belly, medium-curled antennae.

* '''Kym''' -- Fursona of one Kimberly Hartman, dating back to early 1980s. Female Arboreal, overall silver-grey (no backstripe or trim), white belly. Tightly curled antennae, to the point of coiling. Ham radio aficionado; carried remote ham radio (walkie-talkie type) with its antenna curled to match hers. Had mate "Anton", based on her RL husband; Male Aquatic, no other physical description.

* '''Kristi''' -- "Miss Skiltaire December" for Skiltaire Calendar project. Female Arboreal, overall pure white, medium-curled antennae. Drawn lounged out before a fireplace, holding a sprig of mistletoe over her head.

Other Skiltaire characters date from this time, but were mostly obscure one-shots. Skiltaire couples of the period were usually drawn with one Arboreal and the other Aquatic.
__NOEDITSECTION__ __NOTOC__
==About this Category==

== People to add ==

'''Zonie''' was a furry comic strip by the late [[Michael-Scot McMurry]], centering around the adventures of the title character, a yellow-furred [[anthro]] [[coyote]] in a black vest and polka-dot bandana.

Zonie was usually brewing a batch of killer chili in a recycled trash can over an open fire somewhere deep in the deserts of Southern Arizona, taking occasional harassment from the strip's other continuing character, a [[fox]] apparently named "The Fox".

Occasionally Zonie would act out a serious crush on [[Florence Ambrose]], an anthro red-wolf bitch from [[Mark Stanley]]'s online comic [[Freefall]], inviting her over for chili "at his place" out in the desert. This usually resulted in a major culture clash between the two.

''Zonie'' (the comic) ran as an occasional single-page strip in Zu by [[Mu Press]] and the fanzine [[Huzzah]]!

Zonie (the coyote) also served as mascot to [[ZonieCon]], a short-lived Arizona-area furry [[convention|mini-con]] named after him. In return, Zonie is himself named for a contraction of "Arizonan", i.e. "from Arizona".
