Keeny Fox (Real life identity Mark Alexander Smith), is a British cartoonist, artist and musician based in Dundee in Scotland. He is best known for his self titled fursona Keen, a name he also uses as an alias. The character is distinguishable for his moptop haircut and blue chequered-pattern shirt. Aside from this he also draws other characters and background landscapes as well as animations. Keen was introduced to furry art in 2003 and joined the furry fandom in 2004. His artwork is inspired and based on popular cartoons from the 1980s and early 1990s. His artistic subject matter ranges between general and lightly mature themes of varied situations. Keen has a very down-to-earth personality which is evident in many of his journals on his own personal points of view, whether it be regarding furry fandom or otherwise unrelated events.

Animation
Keen has been experimenting with Flash, making animated shorts in recent times. The first two, Ego Tripping and Television were finished within a week of each other in Spring 2008. He followed these up with his first true animated short The Greedy Fox, which was adapted from the fable of the same name and finished the following Summer. His latest animated short is An Uphill Struggle, an original story starring two of his characters.

Keen has also made 3D animations in the past; his first animated short Tough pluck was made in 2007 as part of a college project.

Music
Keen is a multi-instrumentalist who can play guitar, bass and keyboards. He is the bass player in an alternative rock band called The Affiliates, who are based in Dundee. He also works as a solo electronic artist under the abbreviated pseudonym of KFox. Also, he has been involved in a few side projects; mostly the semi-furry comedy group The Raccoon Gang.

Real Life
Keen has studied 3D animation in college and is now studying computer arts in university. In 2006 he painted part of a wall mural at a local youth centre, which appeared in a local paper the following year. He attended Anthrocon for the first time in 2008.

KeenyFox:

The Raccoon Gang is a semi-furry experimental music group from Dundee in Scotland.
The trio consists of Keeny Fox, under the alias of Mark "The Fox", along with Craig "The Adventurer" and John "The Colourless". Their adoptive nicknames have recently been dropped and they now usually go by their normal names.

Keen is the only member that is involved in furry fandom. The group usually works as a duo without John, who is often away "saving the world" according to the other members, although John has appeared in two of their albums, one in it's entirety and one very briefly. They notably held a friendly rivalry with fellow experimental band F#, who are a four-piece hardcore jazz band.

It has been implied that their most recent album 'Beat Blocs' is going to be their last, but have expressed an interest in continuing to make the occasional song.

Style
Formed in the early Autumn of 2006, The Raccoon Gang play freestyle electro-pop fused with elements of rock and hip-hop. Amongst the group's unique traits is their spoken word style lyrics which are performed over the top of their songs. Their methods of recording have ranged from an old radio tape recorder to modern computer recording software. They have made eight albums in total under no budget for no profit, in short time spaces.

Mascot
One of the group's leading features is their mascot, a cartoon raccoon named Robin. His appearances have changed over the early months. Originally drawn as a feral raccoon, Robin evolved into a more "Toony" look, wearing a green and orange sweater and dark brown jacket. Later on, he appeared to have reverted back into a more animal-like appearance, wearing a yellow bandana.

Mentioned in many of the band's songs, Robin also has a younger sister named Rebecca, who is first seen on the artwork of the Gang's fifth album. He also has an older brother called Ryan who was forced out by the family and adopted by an evil character. Not much is known about him (apart from being an anti-hero), and it is likely he will have a bigger role in a future album.

Discography
* Sep 2006 - Walkabout Songs
* Jan 2007 - The Great Raccoon Gang Grand Prix (first album to include John)

Tough Pluck is a short 3D computer animation created by retro cartoonist Keeny Fox in 2007. It was made for the major project in the Higher National Diploma animation course at Dundee College. It was modelled and animated in 3D Studio Max. This is also notably Keen's first animated short, and only one in 3D to date.

The short stars one of Keen's characters, Graham Bird (an anthro hawk and musician), as an assistant in a music shop. In the animation he sells a human called Bernie an electric guitar, during a short conversation and demonstration. The animation received a merit award in the course, in spite Keen's discontent at the end result's shortcomings.
It is also worth mentioning that some pictures of Keen's past cartoons and CD covers are displayed in the shop, including a photo of Keen's real life player himself, with the other members of his first side project The Raccoon Gang.
Tough Pluck is a short 3D computer animation created by retro cartoonist Keeny Fox in 2007. It was made for the major project a Higher National Diploma animation course in college. It was modelled and animated in 3D Studio Max. This is also notably Keen's first animated short.

The short stars Graham Bird, an anthro hawk, posing as an assistant in a music shop. In the animation he sells a human called Bernie an electric guitar, during a short conversation and demonstration.

It is also worth mentioning that some pictures of Keen's past cartoons and CD covers are displayed in the shop, including a photo of Keen's real life player himself, with the other members of his side project The Raccoon Gang.

KeenyFox: work on discography

The Raccoon Gang is a semi-furry experimental music group from Dundee in Scotland.
Originally a trio, the group's memebers consisted of Keeny Fox, under the alias of Mark "The Fox", along with Craig "The Adventurer" and John "The Colourless".

Mark is the only member that is a furry. The band occasionally has periods of hiatus, as Craig is not a serious poet and Mark is also a member of a more serious band, as well as his preoccupation with a solo project. John's last song with the band was in April 2007, and in November the same year it was officially announced he was no longer part of the group due to his constant attendance at Cambridge University. The group have decided to carry on as a duo as before until further notice.

They notably hold a friendly rivalry with fellow experimental band F#, who are a four-piece hardcore jazz band.

Style
Formed in the late summer of 2006, The Raccoon Gang play freestyle electro-pop fused with elements of rock and hip-hop. Amongst the band's unique traits is their spoken word style lyrics which are performed over the top of their songs. The band do not perform live, but have released videos onto YouTube.

The Raccoon Gang recorded their first three albums live and on the spot: the first was made on an old tape recorder and the following two on a Fostex multitrack. They have since produced more polished material with separate tracks. All their material cost practically nothing to make and produce since it was done quickly in the members' own time.

The group have so far recorded six albums and one compilation. Because of their deliberately extreme low-budget, they give away their music for free, no longer putting out CD's on a whim and instead allowing people to download their songs from the Internet.

Their track I'm Not A Freak (which appears on their third album) is a song which is about furries, but it is not a popular track with the members themselves. Ironically, the group seldom mentions furries in their songs.

Mascot
One of the band's leading features is their mascot, a cartoon raccoon named Robin.

Members
* Mark "The Fox" (known better in the fandom as Keeny Fox) - Vocals, Composition
* Craig "The Adventurer" - Vocals, Lyrics, Percussion
Former Members
Mark Smith, a.k.a. Keen the Fox or Keeny Fox, (born 10 November 1987) is a cartoonist, artist and musician from Dundee in Scotland. He is best known for his self titled fursona Keen, a name he also uses as an alias. The character is distinguishable for his moptop haircut and blue chequered-pattern shirt. Most of Keen's other characters are also humanoids, but in more recent times Keen has been inclined towards drawing more toon-like characters and humans, as well as background artwork. Keen's artwork is inspired by the works of Kevin Gillis (creator of The Raccoons), Don Bluth, and Chuck Jones of Looney Tunes fame, and is based on popular cartoons from the 1980s and early 1990s.

Keen enjoys being creative and sometimes unpredictable as an artist in terms of subject matter, and has grown more confident with exploring different furry artwork based genres in recent times. He is often honest, competetive and outspoken, but generally friendly towards other furs.

Animation
Keen made his first animated short, Tough pluck, in 2007 as part of a college project. This animation was 3D because of the course content. He has also been experimenting with Flash, making very short animations in recent times.

Music
Keen can play guitar, bass and keyboards. He is currently working with some friends on forming a new rock band. On the side he has an electronic solo project under the abbreviated pseudonym of KFox. His first release under this guise, 'Endeavour With Danger' was finished during the Summer of 2007. He is also a core member of spoken-word semi-furry electro band The Raccoon Gang, a humour orientated side project.

Keen in the Real World
Keen studied 3D Animation in college and is now studying Computer Arts in university. In the later months of 2006, he painted part of a wall mural at a local youth centre. On 8th June 2007, Keen along with some participants of the youth centre appeared in a local paper displaying the completed mural.

He will be attending Anthrocon in 2008.

The music used in this animation samples copyrighted music (legally used) and two of Keen's own tracks. The characters' voices were also provided by Keen himself. Some of the storyboards used in the making of the animation appear in the closing credits.

Keen openly claims that he was unhappy with the quality of the animation because of some jerky movements, along with rushed voice acting mainly put down to severe time constraints to meet the deadline. Nevertheless, Tough Pluck gained a merit award in the course, and helped in Keen passing.

It is also worth mentioning that some pictures of Keen's past cartoons and CD covers are displayed in the shop, including a photo of Keen's real life player himself, with the other members of his side project The Raccoon Gang.
The short stars Graham Bird, an anthro hawk, posing as an assistant in a music shop. In the animation he sells a human called Bernie an electric guitar, during a short conversation and demonstration.

Music
Keen can play guitar, bass and keyboards. He is currently working with some friends on forming a new rock band. On the side he goes under the abbreviated pseudonym of KFox & The Reformers, performing electronica music. His first release under this guise, 'Endeavour With Danger' was finished during the Summer of 2007. He is also a core member of spoken-word semi-furry electro band The Raccoon Gang, a humour orientated side project.

Keen in the Real World
Keen is a qualified 3D Animator at Higher National Diploma level, and is now studying an Honours Degree in Computer Arts. In the later months of 2006, he painted part of a wall mural at a local youth centre. On 8th June 2007, Keen along with some participants of the youth centre appeared in a local paper displaying the completed mural. Naturally, Keen strongly opposes fox hunting, and has been a member of the League Against Cruel Sports since 2004.

He will likely be attending Anthrocon in 2008.

The Raccoons, also known as The Raccoons of Evergreen Forest, was a Canadian animated cartoon created by the talented songwriter/artist Kevin Gillis. Unlike so many other cartoons of its time, it handled action, humor, and romance in a fairly sophisticated manner, while remaining sufficiently uncomplicated for younger viewers.

Characters
* Bert Raccoon (voiced by the late Len Carlson) - Jack of all trades, and master of all (by his own account), Bert was the heroic, clumsy, loveable star of the gang. Incredibly lucky, his non-stop antics never managed to do more than injure his pride and he sometimes stumbled into just the position where he needed to be.

* Ralph and Melissa Raccoon (Bob Dermer and Dottie West/others) - a married couple, these two are really the brains behind most plans to combat the schemes of the villain Cyril Sneer. In the series, they owned the "Raccoondominium" where Bert stays as a permanent houseguest and ran the forest's newspaper, the Evergreen Standard. They also seemed somewhat more vocal in the series as compared to the specials.

*Schaeffer and Broo (Carl Banas and Sharon Lewis) - Two English sheepdogs. Schaeffer was the elder and acted as sort of a guardian to the puppy Broo. Oddly, Broo was one of only two non-morphic character on the show. In the series, Schaeffer acted as a wise mentoring type of friend and denizen of the forest community, but in the specials he was a pet who travelled back and forth between the "real" world and the realm where the other characters lived.

*Cyril Sneer (Michael Magee)- Cyril is ostensibly an aardvark, though highly stylized. For some reason, he never wears clothes, even though his employees usually do. He was usually portrayed as a cunning businessman who had little in the way of scruples, although he did gain some sympathetic character development later on. His role as the villain was more pronounced in the specials than in the series, in which he was partly supplanted in that capacity by one Mr. Knox the alligator. His pet dog is Snag, who has a long snout like his master, but like Broo is non-morphic.

*Floyd, Lloyd, and Boyd (Nick Nichols, Len Carlson, Keith Hampshire, Fred Little) - These three pigs (likely no coincidence) are Cyril's top lieutenants. Like most middle management, they are easily intimidated by their own boss but not above harshness to their own subordinates as well as seeking their own advancement given the opportunity. They do have distinct personalities (Pig One is bossier and more dominant than the other two), in spite of the fact that they usually report and act in concert.

*Cedric Sneer (Fred Little, Marvin Goldhar) - Cedric is Cyril's son (by some unknown means) and a very smart young man. Despite his father's evil intentions, he has a good heart and is known in the series as Bert's best friend. He is a "geek" or "nerd" stereotype and timid, but he slowly learns to overcome his lack of self-confidence and helps to save the day on various occasions. In the specials, he had a love interest in Sophia Tutu, but her character inexplicably disappeared (many fans do not consider her a material loss).

The animated specials
The first animated special featuring the Raccoons was The Christmas Raccoons (1980), which was followed by The Raccoons On Ice (1981), The Raccoons and the Lost Star (1983), and The Raccoons: Let's Dance! (1984), which consisted mostly of songs and footage from the previous three specials. There is little in the way of continuity between the specials, although in Lost Star, Schaeffer comments that he recognizes the other characters in spite of the fact that they don't seem to recognize him. Music included songs performed by Leo Sayer, John Schneider, Rupert Holmes, Rita Coolidge, and Dottie West.

The series
The Raccoons series aired on various networks, including Nickelodeon, in Canada and the U. S. between 1985 and 1992. There were a total of sixty episodes. Music included songs performed by Lisa Lougheed, Luba, and others.

The Raccoon Gang is a partially furry experimental music group from Dundee, Scotland.
Originally a trio, the group's memebers consisted Keeny Fox, under the alias of Mark "The Fox", along with Craig "The Adventurer." and John "The Colourless".

Mark is the only member that is a fur.

The group have so far recorded five albums and one compilation. Because of their deliberately extreme low-budget, they give away their music for free, no longer putting out CD's and instead allowing people to download their songs from the Internet.

Their track I'm Not A Freak is a song which is about furries, but it is not a popular track with the members themselves. It appears on their third album.
Mascot
One of the band's leading features is their mascot, a cartoon raccoon named Robin.

Not much is known about him (apart from being an anti-hero), and it is likely he will have a bigger role in the next album.
Keen's artwork is inspired by the works of Kevin Gillis (creator of The Raccoons) and Chuck Jones of Looney Tunes fame, and is based on popular cartoons from the 1980s and early 1990s.

Keen enjoys being creative and sometimes unpredictable as an artist in terms of subject matter, and has grown more condident with exploring different furry artwork based genres in recent times. He is often honest and outspoken, but generally friendly towards other furs.

Music
Keen can play guitar, bass and keyboards. He is currently a member of Yesterdays Forgotten.

The same youth centre has been targeted for demolition sometime in 2008, but Keen has pledged to remove the parts of the mural he can if such happens.
The Raccoon Gang recorded their first three albums live and on the spot: the first was made on an old tape recorder and the following two on a Fostex multitrack.
