Karl "Symphony" Smith the II:

"Echo Project - George Squares Schism of 2024", sometimes referred to as "The Divorce", refers to the split between the furry visual novel writer ring "Echo Project" and furry visual novelist George Squares. This point marked the decanonization of visual novel "The Smoke Room" from the Echo saga, as well as the beginning of the furry visual novel writer ring "Goodnight Fellowship", which is the one currently developing "The Smoke Room". The event marked a new era in the furry visual novel scene, also marking the end of the classic era of furry visual novels.

Karl "Symphony" Smith the II: Elaborated on "Symphony"

"Symphony" or "Symphonical Artistic Movement" is a multidisciplinary artistic movement created by furry visual novelist Karl "Symphony" Smith in 2025. It is a complex artistical movement with many proposals, specially on literature. Its main idea is the reconnection of fiction with real life themes, opposing escapism and proposing a "Symphony" between real life and fiction. Some other important ideas are the deconstruction of western tropes, diversity in cultural and geographical representation, symbolical empowering of women in men-dominated furry literature spaces, and encouragement of guerrila fiction-making. It draws heavily from literature realism, magical realism and guerrilla cinema-making.

History
Karl came up with the idea of the artistic movement in 2025, from his personal experience in the furry visual novel scene.

The movement identified itself as a sibling movement to AnthroSwim in the past.

Anthro Swim (often shortened as <AS> or AS) is an online furry community centered around a Reddit subreddit dedicated to surreal, nostalgic, and unconventional themes within furry fandom artwork and media.

Founded in 2021, though effectively unused until early 2024, the community has expanded beyond its subreddit origins into a multi-platform ecosystem spanning several social media sites and messaging platforms.

Overview
Anthro Swim's description reads:

Both English and Spanish are commonly used within the community.

Media shared in the community includes images, animation, video edits, writing, and music. Posts often emphasize surrealism, nostalgia, melancholy, or experimental aesthetics that differ from more conventional furry art themes.

While most participants identify as furries, some users who do not consider themselves part of the fandom also participate or follow the community.

The subreddit describes itself as a "Wild West [within reason]", reflecting its intentionally broad scope for artistic interpretation.

Community members sometimes describe Anthro Swim as emphasizing emotional or surreal storytelling through anthropomorphic characters. Artist DWC Marshal Arts described the community as "a punch to the face… something real, visceral, tangible."

Another participant described the community as "a cold splash of reality awakening you from some sort of fantastical dream."

Although originally focused on Reddit, the Anthro Swim community now maintains a presence across several platforms including social media, messaging services, and an independent website.

History
Anthro Swim was founded on June 28, 2021 by Poppa Boi. The community was created after the founder perceived a lack of spaces for experimental or surreal furry media.

The name "Anthro Swim" combines "anthro" with a reference to Adult Swim, the late-night programming block on Cartoon Network, reflecting stylistic similarities observers often noted between the creator's work and Adult Swim aesthetics.

Although created in 2021, the community remained relatively small during its early years. Significant growth occurred during the mid-2020s as more artists began sharing work in the community.

As of Spring 2026, the subreddit has grown to tens of thousands of members and features daily submissions from artists and participants.

A recurring piece of community slang is poast (or poasting), referring to particularly notable posts or posting behavior.

* <small>(Example usage: "She's my favorite poaster." "They've poasted longer than I've been alive.")</small>

Initially consisting mostly of media similar to the founder's own work, the subreddit later developed into a broader hub for artists exploring darker or more unconventional furry themes.

Karl "Symphony" Smith, furry visual novelist and creator of the Symphonical artistic movement, has been part of AnthroSwim for a brief time. The Symphony once identified itself as a sibling movement to AnthroSwim.

Harold
Harold is a recurring symbolic character associated with the Anthro Swim community.

The character is typically depicted as a semi-mysterious truck driver operating a 1990s Peterbilt semi-truck. Harold appears in various pieces of artwork shared by the community and is prominently featured in banners across several Anthro Swim platforms.

Within community interpretations, Harold is often described as a symbolic representation of the community itself. Frequently he's depicted as the figure "delivering" artistic works across the internet.

Harold's background is intentionally ambiguous. Community lore portrays him as a quiet and enigmatic traveler whose personal history is largely unknown. Various artworks reference him traveling long distances across the Americas while continuing his journey.

Despite being portrayed as a physical truck driver, Harold is sometimes interpreted metaphorically as representing the collective activity of the community and the continuous movement of media shared within it.
