'''ScotiaCon''' (pronounced "Sko-sha-con") is a [[furry convention]], which is planned to be the first such convention held in [[Wikipedia:Scotland|Scotland]]. It is planned to be held in [[Wikipedia:Inverness|Inverness]] on the 23rd and 24th of April 2011. The official website was opened in Febuary 2009.<ref>[http://community.livejournal.com/scotiacon/422.html ScotiaCon announcement] by [[Ixis]] (a former staff member). Written on 10th February 2009. Accessed 15th February 2009.</ref>

The mascot of the convention is Wallace, a [[Wikipedia:Scottish terrier|Scottish terrier]] named after national hero [[Wikipedia:William Wallace|William Wallace]].<ref name="Furtean"/>

==ScotiaCon 2011==
ScotiaCon 2011 will be held on the 23rd and 24th April 2011, in the Ramada Jarvis Hotel in Inverness. Prices are to be announced in the first quarter of 2010.

The first convention is to have a [[Wikipedia:Jacobitism|Jacobian]] theme, with [[Wikipedia:England|English]] furs against Scottish furs. Amongst those who will attend the convention include [[Fatkraken]] as a guest of honour, as well as Scottish composer [[Fox Amoore]]. It is not known if the convention will be supporting a charity, though at least two are being considered.<ref name="Furtean">[http://www.furteantimes.com/r/72 Scotland to get its first furry convention] by [[ISD|The Chained Wolf]] for [[FurteanTimes.com]]. Published and accessed on 18th February 2009.</ref>

[[KE Films]] <ref>[http://www.furaffinity.net/user/kefilms/ KE Films FurAffinity Page], published by KE Films. Accessed 3rd June 2009.</ref>, an English film partnership between [[Kuga]] the Iguanodon and [[Equium|Equium auf der Zorazs]], will be filming and producing a DVD of the convention. A teaser trailer for the con is planned to be released in the coming future after the convention staff hold a recce at the hotel in February 2010. A large proportion of staff positions have been filled, however the convention is continually searching additional department heads and aides. An unofficial pre-con Friday afternoon/evening event is being suggested to extend the weekend for attendees coming from further afield who wish to make more use of their trip.

The first official ticket was auctioned at [[RBW]] 2009's charity auction for a final sum of £90.

== About the community ==
[[Image:Fmmain.JPG|right|thumb|200px|FurMorphed]]
FurMorphed is an open community with a very "open door" policy, allowing almost any content on their forum so long as people maintain a reasonable maturity about it and do their best to keep it to the right sections. The forum is open to furs 13+, while special sections are locked until a user turns 18+ for mature content.

To try and make the community as interactive as possible the forum provides a live chat client online linked from the index and a twitter account for it's members to follow and communicate directly with the admins. There are also events in the community such as ''The Link of the Week'' which updates every Monday to a new funny or interesting link. Links are submitted by members or staff and when it's time to update the funniest or most interesting link is posted and announced.

== History ==

FurMorphed was originally hosted at FreeForums.org under the subdomain <nowiki>http://furmorphed.freeforums.org</nowiki> and opened on April 17th, 2007. It moved to it's own hosting plan on October 6th the same year after outgrowing it's free host roots.

The original site team was just Kanibal and a moderating team of two: [[Skufer]] and daxx0r. However after a rush of traffic due to the start of an unexpected advertising campaign the site was forced to move and take on more staff. [[BlindWolf8]] and Draygone joined the staff team and aided in the site changeover. BlindWolf8 left the team in 2008 followed by Draygone and then Skufer made the decision to leave in May 2009 after two years of moderating Furmorphed.

Other members have progressed to be staff and then retired again; Rehka and [[ThrashWolf]] both moderated for a time before choosing to become normal members again.
