The BDB Podcast was an audio program of 45 to 60 minutes, produced by Bad Dog Books and hosted by Alex Vance. The podcast included news and updates specific to Bad Dog Books, though the main focus was on audiobook readings of stories, beginning with The Walking Mountain from Ben Goodridge's Arcanum Arcanorum series, which was added to FANG Volume 2 to coincide with the pocket-size re-release of that volume in 2007.
Kyell Gold is a prodigious furry author whose writing typically focuses on male/male erotica. His fursona is a red fox. He has written several novels, all published by Sofawolf Press. Several of his shorter works have also appeared in Sofawolf Press's Heat, as well as Bad Dog Books' FANG. He and K.M. Hirosaki are co-hosts of the podcast Unsheathed.

Gold's most well-known works include his Argaea series of novels and short stories. His other published works include the coming of age novel Waterways and numerous short stories. He also posts his writing on Fur Affinity, Yiffstar and FurRag.

Gold is married to Kit Silver and lives in San Francisco.

Gold's Writing
Argaea
Gold is the author of a fantasy series, set in the fictional world of Argaea, which includes the novels Volle and Pendant of Fortune, as well as The Prisoner's Release and Other Stories, an anthology of short stories that take place between the two novels.

In summer and fall of 2007, Kyell wrote "Helfer's Busy Day", a serialized work of short fiction where readers could vote for what would happen in the next installment (in a manner similar to Dog's Days of Summer).

A third novel set in Argaea, Shadow of the Father, was released in January 2010.

Argaea chronology
Although The Prisoner's Release and Other Stories was released after Pendant of Fortune, the stories in it are placed chronologically between the two novels.

Here is a tentative chronology of the stories in the Argaea universe:

|}

Published online 11 November 2008, the story "The Real World" contains few clues as to where in the chronology it goes.

Forester Universe
In addition to fantasy works, Gold also writes stories set in a world roughly analogous to modern-day North America, peopled by anthropomorphic animals. The unofficial name for the setting comes from Forester University, a college that features in many of the stories.

Among the stories set in this world is Gold's novel Waterways. The book is structured as a triptych, comprising the stories "Aquifers," "Streams," and "Oceans" (the first two of which were originally posted on Yiffstar).

Another novel set in the setting, titled Out of Position, was released in January 2009. A sequel, titled Isolation Play was released in January 2011.

Themes
The theme Gold most often returns to is "young gay furs looking for love." Typically, the fact that the characters are gay is not a problem for them. But with the novels Waterways and Out of Position, the theme is instead young furs struggling to accept their gay side.

Other common themes are the church (portrayed as a positive influence).

Awards
Kyell's novel Volle was awarded "Best Anthropomorphic Novel" in the 2005 Ursa Major Awards. Its sequel, Pendant of Fortune, was awarded the 2006 Ursa Major Award for "Best Anthropomorphic Novel", and in the same year his short story Jacks to Open won "Best Anthropomorphic Short Fiction". In 2007, his short story Don't Blink won the same award, while in 2008 he again won both "Best Anthropomorphic Novel" (for Waterways) and "Best Anthropomorphic Short Fiction". In 2009, he won two more awards: "Best Anthropomorphic Novel" (for Out of Position) and "Best Anthropomorphic Short Fiction" (for "Drifting"). With eight awards, Gold has won more Ursa Major Awards than anyone else, eclipsing the record of six once held by Usagi Yojimbo creator Stan Sakai.<ref>And the Winners of the 2008 Ursa Major Awards are... by The Chained Wolf for FurteanTimes.com on 18 May, 2009. An avid writer, Rikoshi has a small selection of stories on FurRag, and has written several short stories that have been published in various furry fiction anthologies, including Bad Dog Books' ROAR and Sofawolf Press' New Fables. He has also written two novels. The first, Thousand Leaves, also published by Sofawolf Press, debuted at Anthrocon 2008. KnotCast is a furry-themed sex questions and relationship advice podcast. New episodes are recorded on Thursdays, and are usually made available on the KnotCast website over the weekend.

Savrin's mate, Panther (aka, the tech-savvy at-risk youth), provides technical support.

The KnotCast theme is an excerpt from "5 Minutes" by Sublevel 03 which was mixed by the band specially for the show.

Notable events in Knotcast history
*2008-07-25: The KnotCast studio (the apartment shared by Savrin, Panther, and their roommate) was vandalized and the podcasting equipment stolen. KnotCast was on a brief hiatus while the equipment was repurchased. Thanks to listener donations the podcast resumed on August 7th, 2008.
*2009-02-20: As of Furry Fiesta 2009, Damien decided to leave KnotCast to focus on school, work, and other projects.
*2009-03-05: KnotCast recorded the first episode of their second year and introduced the new theme song by Sub-level 03.
*2009-05-07: Cast agrees to make Istanbul a regular cast member.

Recurring Jokes
Cat of hate - Savrin's cat, which dislikes Damien.

Dog people fucking - Synonym for furry pornography

Don't do drugs, kids - a throw-away line used by Savrin when transitioning between thoughts.

Don't do kids, drugs - Usualy used after the Don't do drugs, kids' line, this is reserved for moments where 'red badge' furs are mentioned.

Doorknobs - Originally made as a joke to suggest that the Tech-Savy-At-Risk-Panther would beat Savrin like a real abusive domestic relationship. The traditional reference being an abused wife covering up the origins of her black eye as "I fell into/on a doorknob." The scenarios in which Savrin would 'fall into' doorknobs became wildly unorthodox. Much to the amusement in the cast, this has eventually led to the doorknob becoming a symbol of punishment.

Dragons - See Tumbles the Stairdragon.

Good night... and big balls - Phrase used to end the podcast. The first clause may be said by any member of the podcast, but Zapnut always says the latter.

Husky Rawr! - Damien has a tendency to go on at length and sometimes propose violence as a solution when he feels strongly about the situation being discussed.

Michael Baaaaaay - Used to describe movies and other situations involving explosions

NYNGHHH NYNGHHH - Making fun of the crazier members of the fandom, whose actions have been compared to the mentally challenged (see dragons).

Pro tip - helpful suggestions made by Savrin

ROFLhusky - after Damien literally fell on the floor laughing during one episode, he earned this nickname.

Roo Puns - Damien's species change from a husky fursona to a kangaroo generated a range of puns involving 'roo imagery. Mainly seen in Episode 26, which was just after his change, the puns came from his fellow podcasters and a few viewers. Damien has since become a husky again.

Staircases - See Tumbles the Stairdragon.

Rules
Early in KnotCast's development, a set of rules was put in place for what could (and could not) be said to avoid offending listeners. These rules are often broken (and it is announced so with a corresponding rule number), but rarely explained for the benefit of the listeners.

Rules that have been explained to date are:
* #1 - FuzzWolf must eat a meal before recording the podcast (For FuzzWolf is hypoglycemic and will get pissy if not full)
* #2 - Don't bring (fandom related) drama to the podcast
* #3 - No scat or watersports - Scatman DENIED
* #4 - No Holocaust jokes
* #5 - (not yet explained, but when one of the cast makes a semi-racist remark, another member says "Rule #5", possibly may be "no use of the N word")
* #7 or #8 - No pedophilia jokes
* #9 - all of Fuzzwolf's fanwank must be read by Damien. In the absence of Damien, Istanbul has been tasked with reading the fanwank

Guests ("Token females")
Guests on the show are known as token females. (Originally it was for the first guest, Jen Ferret, but it has seen been used to refer to all guests, regardless of their actual gender.)

The following people have been guests/"token females" on the podcast:
Thousand Leaves is an anthropomorphic novel by Rikoshi (Kevin Frane), published by Sofawolf Press in June 2008. The cover art and interior illustrations were done by Kamui.

Set in the titular city of Thousand Leaves—the capital of Ridgecrescent, a technologically-advanced but xenophobic nation—the story follows the lives of a small group of the city's inhabitants as a strange, unidentifiable syndrome begins to affect the populace. The central character, Reeve Wintrell, is a coyote who is among the first to suspect that something might be wrong; however, as his symptoms begin to exhibit themselves as paranoia, it rapidly becomes more difficult for him to find any help—especially since he's been cut off from his old social circle after a bad breakup with his ex-boyfriend, David.

Thousand Leaves was nominated in the Best Novel category for the 2008 Ursa Major Awards (the award itself was won by Kyell Gold's Waterways).

K.M. Hirosaki: Cleanup. Please also note that 'penii' is not a real word.

Yiffing is a term for sexual intercourse between furs.

Origin
The exact time the term "yiffing" was coined is disputed. The most popular etymology stems from the 1980s, citing that "yiff" was the sound foxes make while mating (there are many other disputed origins for the term, as well). Within the fandom today, the term can be used to describe either real sexual activity or cybersex; unless stated otherwise, uses within this article refer to the cybersex elements. "Mating" is sometimes used as well, in addition to all common real-life sexual euphemisms.

Animal features
Many furries that detail their character's form to include anatomical correctness need to choose whether to use human-like or animal-like genitalia. This is most commonly a question among male and hermaphroditic characters, since the penis varies much more widely between species than the vagina.

Penises
There are many that utilize a humanoid penis, many of which have such a penis inside a sheath. Many others include animalistic features. For example, canine male characters may have a canine penis with a chisel tip and the process of a knot at the base. Felines may have a sharply-pointed glans covered in soft barbs. Equines often have a comparatively larger penis, many with a flaring, mushroom-shaped glans. Serious kangaroo males may have a long, tapering, crooked penis, and even have their testicles hanging above their sheath instead of below.

The tastes of heterosexual females, herms and homosexual males in regards to genitalia varies greatly. Some may seek out animalistic features, while others may be ambivalent, and still others are averted from such features and favor humanoid genitals.

Estrus
The female choice in terms of animalistic features is mainly a choice of reproductive mode. Since virtually all real-life animal females go through an estrus cycle, many females choose to consciously roleplay such a cycle when engaging in sexual roleplay. A female may roleplay being "in heat" to initiate a sexual roleplay that involves breeding and, in some cases, beginning a pregnancy. There are many female furs, however, that consciously roleplay a humanoid menstrual cycle. Females that do not consciously do either are assumed (a) to use the estrus cycle and simply not be "in heat" or (b) to use the menstrual cycle and be "on the Pill", as actual breeding and pregnancy roleplay are relatively rare.

Motives for yiffing
The most common reason for two furs to "yiff" is simply to relieve sexual pressure. Casual, monogamous and polygamous yiffing are all common. In most cases, it is done purely for pleasure, many times as part of a broader roleplay. Only in rare cases are more serious topics, such as breeding, involved.

Birth control is rarely involved in roleplay, and condoms are seldom seen since virtually all furs completely ignore the concept of sexually transmitted diseases in the context of cybersex. Those yiffing in RL are advised to read The Yiffy Guide to Safer Sex.

Euphemisms
Yiffing comes with its own set of sexual euphemisms, in addition to many of the same slang terms used in human sex. For example, a popular term for male masturbation is "pawing off". Replacing the "baby" in "baby batter", a slang term for semen, with the term for offspring for one's species can spawn a plethora of new slang terms (like "puppy batter" for a canine's semen). Of course there are also many euphemisms that pre-date the furry fandom, such as "fucking like rabbits".
Dr. Samuel Conway, also known as Kagemushi Goro or Uncle Kage (IPA: [kɑ ˈgɛ]) is one of the furry community's most trusted and honoured members. He is Chairman of Anthrocon, and regularly attends many other furry conventions. He holds a doctorate in chemistry from Dartmouth College. <!-- Kage prefers to keep his employer private. -->

Uncle Kage is well known for his storytelling, often based on everyday experiences - Uncle Kage's Story Hour is a popular addition to the schedule whenever he is present at an event. He also manages to make charity auctions fun, to the detriment of the wallets of many con-goers. He has been guest of honor at numerous conventions, both in and out of the Furry world, including Albany Anthrocon, Duckon, Eurofurence, ConiFur, I-Con, and ConClave.

He has also published several short stories under his proper name of Samuel Conway. Most of these were in titles printed by Sofawolf Press, although his best-known work can be found in the anthology "Flights of Fantasy", edited by Mercedes Lackey (Daw Books, 1999).

Rumours of Uncle Kage's love of certain Japanese distilled spirits are grossly exaggerated, except in those cases where people have photos. Or, in one case, a video recording.

Uncle Kage's name is actually an abbreviation of Kagemushi Goro, or the Samurai Cockroach, his selected fursona (kage mushi is Japanese for shadow bug; this is in turn a pun on the Japanese term kagemusha). More information is available from his website.

<!-- Some suggest that Uncle Kage also plays the character Rogue on FurryMUCK. I don't personally know if this is true or not, but the characters are separate, have separate websites, and so I think they should remain unlinked. --GreenReaper -->
:::Just by coincidence, I managed to check this page today, and lo and behold!
:::One thing I might want to bring up: are you really sure that fennec foxes are the second most popular fox species among Furries? I know I've seen far more gray foxes and arctic foxes than I have fennecs; granted, I know that fennecs seem to be getting more popular in recent years, but I don't know if I'd put them in the #2 slot so readily.
The name is possibly derived from the word badge, on account of the marks on the head. There are 9 species of badger, in three subfamilies: Melinae (the Eurasian badgers), Mellivorinae, (the Ratel or honey badger), and Taxidinae (the American badger).
Fursuits are animal costumes associated with the furry fandom. They range from simple tails and ears to full costumes cooled by battery-powered fans. Similar to mascot suits, they allow the wearer to adopt another personality while in costume. Owners (also known as fursuiters) can spend less than one-hundred to many thousands of dollars on one fursuit, depending on complexity and materials used. Frequently these items are sold at conventions, or online by either commission or auction. Many furry fans make their own using online tutorials or advice from newsgroups. Due to the delicate nature of these costumes, many require special handling while washing.

Reasons for Fursuiting
A person who wears a fursuit generally falls into one or more of five categories.

Job or charity work
Many furry fans do fursuiting for a job or to bring attention to an event or charity. This can include mascots, but not all mascots are furries. Many are hired through an agency to represent a character, while others bring their own constructions to an event instead. There are also several volunteer fursuiting groups across North America that either ask or are asked to entertain at various social functions. Some groups even set up their own charitable events or perform on the streets to passersby.

Conventions, parades, exhibitions
Other furries enjoy wearing their suits for parades, exhibitions, or conventions. Oftentimes these are of a personal character who they are expressing as a form of role play. The fursuiter may consider themselves to be expressing who they really are. These fursuiters may also wear their suits to small, informal meetings among furry fans in their area.

Role-playing
Some LARPers create highly elaborate costumes (including fursuits) for their characters. Half suits (arms, legs and a mask or makeup) are usually created for role-playing games, though some use full-body suits. These suits wear elaborate clothes and costumes of their own, depending on the theme of the game.

Sexuality
A portion of the furry fandom exists that considers a fursuit a sexual item. A fraction of the fursuits sold are made for sexual activity.

Spirituality
Some people (usually otherkin or therianthropes) also fursuit for reasons of expressing what they feel is their inner animal self. Most of them try to make their suits as realistic and lifelike as possible.
Tank Vixens is a short mini-series adult comic themed around a batallian of vixens fighting in a war against a megamaniacal female mouse general and her assigned army of soldier mice. Unlike normal wars however, the methods of combat used are totally unorthadox and involve the vixens running around topless during battle, or totally naked, during battle and the mouse general being defeated in most cases as a result.

Running Gags
This section is mostly supposition and speculation.

Some running gags are visible in the comic and are only examples.

* The mouse general's secretary, a silent and homicidal person, randomly killing a soldier mouse whenever the general is in a bad mood and is unable to do it herself. These moments usually flow like this: "Hilda, kill something!" *bam* "SQUEEEE!"
* Another running gag supposedly lies in one of the vixen's behavior of loving firearms too much, even using a flamethrower and yelling "brilliant" any time a spectacular explosion results from her use of said weaponry.
* A third and almost rediculously typical gag is one of the vixens being a "typical dumb blonde", with giggling and playfulness added in.

At times, this may seem like a very rediculous comic, but the humor attempts have value for some people. The plight of one of the vixens early on for example, was that she was the only normal and sane member of the group. However, this comic features at least one lesbian sex scene in it, an unsurprising event which serves to profoundly re-enforce the adult rating to be sure.

Editions
So far there have been only two runs of the comic plus a card game.

* The primier run itself ran four issues, maybe five.
* The second run itself came in the form of all the first-run issues bundled into one single graphic novel and is the last known run of the comic itself.
* The third incarnation is a trading card game, out of print and hard to aquire.

A babyfur is a member of the furry fandom who enjoys roleplaying younger characters. They may also be an Adult Baby and/or Diaper Lover (collectively known as AB/DLs), or is otherwise involved in Infantilism. There are many different types of furs in the babyfur community, each focusing on different aspects and roles. Like furry in general, babyfur culture involves a good amount of role-playing (either light or heavy), both online and in the real world.

The community has been growing more and more popular since the mid- to late 90's. While the community itself is still part of the furry fandom as a whole, it is large enough to present a good deal of leaders, politics and drama to give the community a nearly independent feel to it.

Role playing babyfurs will most often take on the role of a furry character in his/her infancy or childhood. Common roleplaying themes include "cute" clothing (onesies, footy pajamas, overalls, diapers) and a child's environment such as a nursery or day care center, complete with cribs, high chairs and babyish decor. A few babyfurs lucky enough to afford the privacy and devotion will set up adult nurseries to role play as children in real life. A sexual subset of this type of roleplaying is known as ageplay.

[[Image:Rieva-little.JPG|thumb|350px|right|Babyfurs in a Nutshell.<br\>Art by LoupGarou , character by Rieva]]

Terminology
Babyfur Roles
There are a few sub-groups within the babyfur community which are often described with the following terminology:

; babyfur : Used to describe the group as a whole, however, specifically it referrers to someone that roleplays as younger, up to the human equivalent of toddler age, characters. Baby paraphernalia is most likely to be involved for this group and role played speech is often either in gibberish or very basic speech.
; lilfur : This is a person that roleplays as a child character. Diaper and other baby paraphernalia may or may not be involved. Role played speech is usually more refined at this point, but still somewhat juvenile.
; diaperfur : This is a person that roleplays as an adult character that still either requires or choose to wear diapers. Role played speech and actions are consistent with an adult. The person may also roleplay an adult character that is mentally regressed back to a younger state, but still has an adult physical form.
; sissyfur : This is a person that roleplays a male character, either adult or child, that is forced to dress and act as a young female character.
; caretaker : As the name suggests these are the people that roleplay caretaker characters, a 'mommy' or 'daddy' figure for other babyfurs.

Many people don't identify with one single group, but can change roles depending on the situation and who they are interacting with. It's also not uncommon for complex lineages (for example siblings, parents, etc) to be set up among other babyfurs so that roles can be defined.

Definition of AB/DLs
These are general non furry terms but are useful to understand in this context.

; Adult Baby (AB) : A person that enjoys regressing back to being a baby. Beyond regressing using physical or environmental changes (such as diapers, clothing, and settings), they also mentally regress, taking the mentality of a baby. These are the equivalent to 'babyfurs' or 'lilfurs' when crossed with furry. Teenagers who are Adult Babies will sometimes refer to themselves as Teen Babies (TBs).

; Diaper Lover (DL) : A person that enjoys regressing back to being a baby, but limits the regressing to an environmental change (such as wearing diapers or using baby paraphernalia). These people, unlike AB's, will usually not regress physically (adopting a baby form) or mentally. These tend to be the equivalent of 'diaperfurs' in the babyfur community. For some DLs, but not all of them, there is a fetish connection to the diapers and baby play. They will sometimes take the submissive role to a caretaker in sexual play, and the caretaker will take a dominant role.

; Infantilist : Essentially, infantilism regards any person who enjoys regressing to the mental age of an infant or toddler, and may or may not involve diapers and other baby paraphernalia.

"Cubbing Out"
"Cubbing Out" is a general term used by the community to describe roleplaying as a babyfur character. This can either be roleplay in the virtual world or the real world. Usually it will involve one or more regressed characters or people interacting with each other or with a caregiver.

"Padding" and "Getting Padded" may also refer to cubbing, in particular regarding to being diapered.

The Caregiver's Role
Caregivers (or caretakers) are the 'mommy' and 'daddy' figures in the roleplay. For the most part, they interact with other babyfurs as a mother or father would with their child. This can include playing with, cleaning or disciplining the younger character. For those involved from a sexual standpoint, the caregiver may adopt the dominant role, while the regressed character adopts the submissive role.

Baby things (and why)
From the Adult Baby (AB) angle of AB/DL, regressing individuals prefer to behave and be treated as much like a baby or toddler as possible. To do so successfully achieves in many babyfurs a comforting, secure or blissful feeling. Various paraphrenalia help to satisfy these preferences:

Clothing
Many babyfurs enjoy wearing all sorts of clothing. Some say the cuter it looks, the better it is. Such articles of clothing include the following:
* Overalls
* Shortalls
* Booties
* Dresses
* Onesies
* Pajamas
* Footed sleepers
* Mittens
* Bows

Many male babyfurs find they enjoy being dressed as little girls as well, and are sometimes called sissyfurs.
The classic baby bonnet (seen frequently in certain Looney Toons episodes) is not very common among babyfurs, which might be attributed to the fact that modern society doesn't find real babies wearing them either.

Plushies and Toys
Just like clothing, interacting with plushies and toys is very contributive to the cub experience. Toys range in age from baby toys to toy cars and action figures. As long as cubs get to interact with one another though, toys are not always the focus in a roleplay.

Objects
A toddler's life is not complete without many of the following items. Many babyfurs use these objects in online roleplay and would love to be able to use them in the real world:

* Cribs
* Walkers
* Strollers
* High chairs
* Car seats
* Booster seats
* Pacifiers
* Baby bottles
* Sippy cups
* Talcum powder
* Bubble baths

In addition to physical objects, some babyfurs also find a keen interest in actions like blowing a raspberry, being held, or watching old television shows that are no longer available for on TV. Many old children's shows such as 80's and early 90's cartoons on Nickelodeon were the same shows some babyfurs watched when they were little, and reminiscing about them leaves a nostalgic warmth.

Diaper Usage (and why)
Diapers are an item frequently used while "cubbing out." Like other aspects of babyfur, this can be done in the virtual world, the real world, or both. There are many babyfurs, however, that while they will wear diapers in online roles, do not in real life. Many babyfurs will wear diapers in real life for a feeling of security and comfort, but will not use them for their intended purpose. At the other end of the spectrum, there are some babyfurs that, either by choice or by necessity, wear and use diapers all the time. The wearing and use of diapers in the real world are at the heart of many issues that some members of the furry community in general have with the babyfurs.

Why babyfurs wear, and possibly use, diapers in the real world is varied. For some, they are forced to wear them because of a medical condition and have no choice in the manner. These people have often blended their real life situation with their furry persona. For others, it is a way they can regress into their furry persona's age. Some others see the diapers as a connection to their furry persona, paralleling a tail or fursuit in the general furry community.

Babyfur behavior
When cubbing out in both the real world and in online roleplaying, the level of connection to the role will vary between each player. Some babyfurs will become so involved and yearn for such an authentic childish mentality that they will use speech impediments and baby talk to communicate. Very few babyfurs make a habit out of using babytalk in the real world, similar to a gay lisp. Depending on the situation, a babyfur could even develop a habit of whining or crying to get what he/she wants from a caregiver or another roleplayer.

In light online role-playing, babyfurs may toddle, crawl and wag their tails playfully while the sounds of crinkling diapers abound. Pouncing, giggling, cuddling, snuggling and tummy rubbing ensue with the maximum possible level of cuteness.

Child-like behaviour, baby animal sounds and an emphasis on cuteness are widespread among furry fans when among themselves, even those who don't call themselves babyfurs and who don't participate in other babyfur activities described here, such as diapers or baby clothing.

While most babyfurs are closely attached to the development of young humans, a different approach can be found in online role-play, where newborn zoomorphic and anthropomorphic characters often grow up at a similar pace as wild animals, doing without accessories such as diapers and learning to walk in a short time. This has the practical advantage of sooner getting into an age that allows interesting role-play even for non-babyfurs when playing a character since birth. As in nature, opinions on when a character can be considered adult vary greatly.

Babyfurs at Furry Conventions
Just like furries in general, babyfurs go to conventions to spend time with friends and express their furriness. For many, that includes their babyfur aspects too. One may see many babyfurs dressed in juvenile clothing and with various paraphernalia because that is part of how they choose to express themselves. To some babyfurs, dressing in such a way is no different than other furries wearing ears, tails or fursuits.

At many conventions, hotel rooms are set up as gathering places for babyfurs to socialize privately. Two of the most notable are the C'ubhouse and Nursery run by LilPup and Snuggems, respectively.

Facts and Myths
* Myth: Some babyfurs publicly dress as a baby.
** Status: True. Some babyfurs dress as a baby to express their interest in being a babyfur unashamed, and a few are avid seekers of humiliation or embarrassment. However, most babyfurs do not engage in the public dress of infantile paraphernalia.

* Myth: Babyfurs are sexually attracted to children just as some furry fans are sexually attracted to furries.
** Status: False. Being a babyfur is very different from being a pedophile. While a small number babyfurs may be pedophiles, this is largely not the case. See section VII about the difference between babyfurs and pedophiles.

Community Leaders and Important Babyfurs
The following babyfurs are among the most known and respected in the furry fandom, recognized here for their contributions and devotion to the babyfur community:

* SwiftFox has been a member of the babyfur community since its inception in the mid to late 90's. He writes babyfur fiction, co-owns and moderates the Smartgroups Babyfurs mailing list, and hosts several furry and AB/DL events in the Pittsburgh area. (Swift's Den)

* Orca co-moderates the Babyfurs mailing list with SwiftFox. He maintains the Babyfurs mailing list and an external file archive. He routinely reports links to interesting or humorous online articles relating to AB/DLs. Orca is also the famed inventor of the "Orca Stack."

* LilPup and Lil_Kitt run and manage the Babyfur C'ubhouse at furry conventions for babyfurs to get together and have fun. LilPup also runs the Online Babyfur Community, a central website that features the Babyfur Proximity Locator (BFPL) for babyfurs to locate one another around the world. Like Swift and Orca, LilPup works to improve the relationship between babyfurs and non-babyfurs at conventions and to help babyfurs maintain a positive reputation in the furry fandom.

* Snuggems is most known for running the Nursery at Anthrocon, a room devoted to giving to those kids and cubs at heart who need to be cared for. Although it started up first and despite that the two meeting spots have different ratings and features, Snuggems' Nursery has been often been said to view the C'ubhouse as competition.

* Proxima Centauri's name is perhaps the first name known to newcomers to the babyfur community as they search to satisfy their newly found interests. Proxima runs Nursery Tails, one of the longest running AB Furry pages, dating back to 1997 (before the term "babyfur" had existed) and featuring thousands of babyfur art, fiction and multimedia files. Though it is in dire need of a new layout, the webpage still runs strong today.

* Karis owns and maintains Karis' Playground, featuring a large collection of babyfur and AB/DL images by artists of all rank. Karis' Playground also offers a store where visitors can purchase prints of babyfur art by various professional artists, including his wife Marci McAdam. Karis was the first person to make babyfur/diaper art available at furry conventions, thus pioneering the community known today as "Babyfurs."

Babyfur Art & Literature
There are dozens of excellent authors and artists in the babyfur community. Here are a few of them:

Artists
* Marci McAdam is the most popular artist in the babyfur community. Although not a babyfur herself, her professional abilities and open-mindedness make her one of the best artist around. It is often said that a babyfur isn't officially a babyfur until he has purchased a badge or commission from Marci McAdam. Her babyfur art can be found for sale at her husband's website, Karis' Playground , and her other art is located at Marci McAdam's Furries. Sadly, Marci is unable to take fandom-related commissions anymore due to her time constraints in doing professional art, but her support of babyfurs has always been appreciated and there has been no indication of her desire to remove herself from her furry art background, as has been the case with other artists.

* Genesis Eve Whitmore is not as popular as Marci but just as talented. She dominates the babyfur art market at Pawpet Megaplex in Orlando, FL in March, and her regular furry art gets plenty of attention as well. (About as much as her dazzling pink hair!) Gen's Webpage

* BushyCat appears at several furry conventions and is well known for her humorous-yet-innocent take on babyfurs as well as other alternative genres of furry art. Some of her creations have more human-like qualities than other artists tend to portray in their characters, making Bushy even more unique.

* JadeFox is one of the more active babyfur artists in the community, offering special contests and events for fans to participate in. The majority of his work is based on his own character or other babyfurs' characters. His drawings are especially creative and imaginative, bringing out only the most treasured aspects of childhood, as well as very innovative clothing design (featuring several brands and companies of his own devising). Furry Jade Fox

* Kelvin the Lion is a fairly popular artist whose current endeavors include (among others) the progressive webcomic Nivlek, about the adventures of Nivlek the Snowleopard who enjoys wearing diapers and eating. Nivlek remains to be one of the more amusing "weird" furry comics out there, and his talent does not go unnoticed. Kelvin's Furry Den

* FangKit has been drawing babyfurs for most of this decade, and continues to improve his artistic talent. His unique style and knack for cuteness and humor combine to make him favored by babyfurs throughout the community. FangKit's Pics

* OzzyFox, a student of animation at the Art Institute of Houston, consistently produces work on a regular basis that ranges from cuddly-cute to controversial and mature. Fox Crib

* IkazuchiFox (commonly known by friends as "Ikajuicy") is found in the definition for "ubercute" listed in UrbanDictionary. He is one of the few amateur babyfur artists with work unique and notable enough to be recognized by the fandom. Although Ikazuchi has not done a sketch for a long time, it is the hope of many furs that he will start drawing again.

* Astolpho, also known to his friends outside the furry community as rootdown, had a unique technique involving bright pastel-like colors on babyfurs with baggy clothes, large eyes and innocent expressions that just begged for the creations to be hugged nonstop. Astolpho innovatively expanded on the existing "squiggly" concept by animating outlines around static colors, making his art even cuter. Frustration with some fans as well as dissatisfaction with the quality of his work has prompted Astolpho to limit the availability of his artwork.

* Cargo Weasel's art leans strongly toward the "DL" side of "AB/DL," showing off mature diaper-related concepts that fit perfectly with his coloring and shading style. His art was featured on a now-defunct mailing list, but can still be found on his website: Cargo Weasel: Art Complex

Writers
* CS Fox, also known as Kit Fox and Cyprus Sygial, is possibly the best known babyfur writer in the community. His works are the biggest features in the stories section at Nursery Tails, and since his submissions to Proxima's site he has gone on to host his own website showing off babyfur fiction of his own and by newer babyfur writers. The latest rendition of CS Fox's site, Fox Tales Times, is being completed as this article is written. Its biggest feature is CS Fox's renowned AB/DL RPGM2K-based game, Weston Academy. The website also sports plenty of comics and art related to the RPG.

* Firemane's fiction is prominently featured on CS Fox's fiction page. His acclaimed works are written with skill, audacity and many levels of fantasy, thrill and twists.

* Fieval Mouse's work is still favored by many furs. His stories are roughly 5 years old and are found on Proxima's Nursery Tails, featuring illustrations by Doodles.

Babyfur as a Paraphilia
A phenomenon exists throughout the furry fandom where it appears that a large amount of its members find a sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals. As babyfurs are also furries, the phenomenon adheres to babyfurs as well. Because most babyfurs tend to enjoy roleplaying as children or toddlers, the question constantly arises: Are babyfurs pedophiles?

Babyfur versus Pedophilia
Babyfurs are not inherently pedophiles. While babyfurs roleplay as underage characters, the vast majority are not sexually attracted to children.

As babyfurs are defined in section 1, most roleplay as young furries usually because of their longing to be young again; in fact, some babyfurs don't even include a sexual element in their interests (and some do). Babyfurs assert that an adult roleplaying a child should not be considered the same thing as a child.

As with the general population, however, a small subset of babyfurs may possibly be pedophiles.

Babyfurs vs. Non-Babyfurs
The concept of babyfurs has grown quite contentious with some members of the fandom. Some furries and non-furries who have identified themselves as babyfurs or were identified by others as being babyfurs have acted inappropriately at conventions in the past. Such contentious behavior includes wearing diapers in public without using proper hygiene and trying to push uninterested people into babyfur roleplay, including sexual roleplay. These behaviors are frowned upon by the babyfur community in general, and such incidents, when perpetrated by babyfurs, are done by a small number of babyfurs within a larger babyfur community. The community in general adopted guidelines of conduct for how to act in public after a rash or such incidents at conventions in an effort to police themselves.

Furries who dislike babyfurs may do so for a variety of common points, including:

* Grossed out by the concept of diaper lovers
* False belief that all babyfurs are pedophiles
* Previous negative experiences with those who identify themselves as babyfurs or were identified by others as being babyfurs.
* Fear that babyfur behavior will be associated as a characteristic of the general fandom, especially in the media

While there is some conflict between babyfurs and the general fandom, such conflicts are not widespread throughout the entire fandom nor are they very severe. The majority of babyfurs and non-babyfurs coexist quite well because the majority of babyfurs do not engage in the more extreme behaviors mentioned here.

Babyfur Links and Media
Babyfurs have a well established community full of art, resources, and as many modes of communication as the rest of the furry fandom.

Many babyfurs can be found in Second Life. Currently, there is no official meeting place for babyfurs, although "Raven's Playground and C'ubhouse" is growing in popularity and detail, and a corner of FN Prime dedicated to babyfurs has been created.
Mostly, whether there should be a lot of smaller pages, or fewer larger pages. The concensus seems to be toward fewer, larger pages, so feel free to grab whatever information you need from the other page, link to it, or whatever. *Under grey fox: "Some furries choose the grey fox over the red fox because they find the colouration attractive, or because it is a comfortable alternative to the red fox's ubiquitous form."
I think he removed them as not fitting with the more scientific tone of the rest of the article, which I can kind of see.

Foxes are members of the canid family. The fox is one of the most common fursonas chosen by furries. The female fox is called a vixen, and the male is referred to as a todd or dog.

Types of foxes
The term fox properly refers to any canid from the tribe Vulpini, the vulpines. This includes the genera Vulpes (and Fennecus, if considered separate), Alopex, Urocyon, and Otocyon. However, there are several members of the other canid tribe, Canini, that are commonly referred to as foxes, and even a few animals that aren't canids at all.
