Free Fur All's second iteration occurred on July 28-30, 2023. The theme was Be my Wingman, with guests of honor being Jasonafex and Kabier, with charity going to Lady Safaris' Zoo.

The accusations of AWOO's perceived/insinuated improprieties have included the Free Fur All's (now previous) event date and the 1921's racial Tulsa Massacre:
{{q|Any one else notice the Free Fur All is taking place in Tulsa and ends 2 days before the anniversary of the Tulsa Massacre?(.) The ongoing back-and-forth battle between both groups on social media continues as of September 2021.

Loss of the initial hosting venue
By September 15, 2021, AWOO posted that the initial venue was no longer available, blaming the "intolerant dark side of the anthro fandom's" threat of "civil unrest" for its loss.

Members on the opposing side blamed AWOO's woes and loss of venue on itself, particularly on the acts of some of its staff memberswho threatening, while on social media, users with acts of violence, all the way up to include the threat of outright murder,cn which were saved via screenshots on various web sites.cn

AWOO responded to the accusations by pointing out that these flagrant postscn were made by non-AWOO staff people (in particular users KKKlyde and Cani Lupine)cn on their Twitter accounts or on Free Fur All 2022 Unofficial Chat, an unsanctioned "Free Fur All" social site.cn

Derogatory terminology (ongoing)
Some fur/non-fur users have come to describe FFA as FashCon (i.e. Fascist Convention/Fascist Furries, also as a tip to the hat to Tumblr's failed DashCon[*] event) before even the first event went live, Regardless of an ongoing controversy or issue, due to their perceived beliefs of the con, staff, and supporters' "extremist views".

(*) FFA 2022 did include a ball pit a la DashCon as a self-deprecating joke.

"Censor the truth"
Since it can become a point of debate, I want to tell how we handle such situations in Russian WikiFur. We made this consensus just a few months ago, and before that the addition and removal of negative "true information" was an issue.

So, by the new policy, a titular person can freely add and remove historically unimportant information, as long as the text isn't changed too often for an encyclopedic article. "Historically unimportant" is defined as "didn't affect wide amount of people". For example, changing one's fursona usually concerns only friends, while closing up a popular gallery affects all people following this gallery, and this number can be counted. In case it's larger than a circle of friends, this information is historically important.

While this policy is subjective, it has solved all the related cases at the moment. We didn't such problems since. EvilCat 11:30, 6 September 2011 (EDT)

:I think the suspension itself is unimportant: it only affected me. I have seen elsewhere where things of this nature are considered unimportant and not encyclopedic material (although a permanent suspension could be relevant) and am a bit unsure why this is considered relevant in the first place. If someone is primarily going to create a page by themself about themself, shouldn't they just put that on their user page? :Wouldn't the history have her real name? Equivamptalk 12:05, 25 July 2011 (EDT)
::That would depend on the level of anonymity required. As far as we know, search engines generally only look at and index the current versions of articles on wikis, so removing the name should eventually result in the article no longer appearing in search results. In some situations, that's good enough. Obviously, if the article isn't deleted, the historical versions are still available to anyone who knows where to look for them. What we need to decide here is whether this is one of those situations. Even if we do decide to "reboot" the article about her for that reason, it wouldn't be feasible to do a "historical cleanup" of the couple dozen other articles that until recently included her real name. --mwalimu 12:52, 25 July 2011 (EDT)

This paragraph in particular I think could do with some expanding:

The underground comics culture gave rise to a wave of independent black and white comics in the 1980s. It was during this time that many of the first proto-furry comics and APAzines began to appear. Steve Galacci's Albedo, Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo, and Reed Waller's Omaha the Cat Dancer were among them, many of them now considered to be cornerstones of what was still becoming the furry fandom.

I think that Steve Gallacci and Omaha the Cat Dancer deserve a lot more in the way of credit than just a namedrop but that information is outside my sphere of expertise. I could do a bit of homework after I finish the rest of the article (which is going to focus more on the creation of furry art, link to hell of tutorials, etcetera) if nobody else feels sassy enough to take it on, though. --Rootdown 22:57, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Hey, this is looking great so far. The writing tone is especially good and to my eyes, is doing a good job of capturing the encylopedic/academic voice.

Super Nitpick Power, item #1: Starfox should be attributed to Nintendo, who owns the IP and characters. Rare merely handled development duties for one game to bear the Starfox title, Starfox Adventures: Dinosaur Planet on the Nintendo Gamecube. Also, an excellent example of a heavily "furry" videogame series that is probably even more visible than Starfox to many is Sly Cooper franchise, by developer Sucker Punch. -- ToyDragon
:In point of fact, the original version of this article had Sly Cooper instead of Star Fox, I just changed it because there's already a huge Star Fox article to link to. --Rootdown 23:07, 27 Aug 2005 (UTC)

tutorials, books, and other resources
The links in that section was just a list of what I knew about offhand and the books that I most highly recommend (except for the jack hamm book, my own opinion is that it's pretty worthless but I know it's a popular recommendation), it's by no means exhaustive list of resources. I know of a few other more general drawing tutorial sites online that aren't so photoshop-centric but I have to chase around for them to find them, and ask some more knowledgable friends about their recommendations for books and tutes and so on, too.

Basically what I'm trying to say here is if anyone reading this has more suggestions for books or whatever, please do add them in.

I have one more section to add but like I said, I'm done for the moment because my girlfriend wants to go out, so I'll finish it later. --Rootdown 00:44, 28 Aug 2005 (UTC)

Suggestion about linking to the art archives category
A suggestion - rather than listing on-line furry art galleries individually, why not just have a link to :Category:Art archives? The same can be done for the Furry artist page. Tevildo 23:01, 4 Sep 2005 (UTC)

:That would work . . . if we had entries for all the art archives! The trouble is, we don't, so we currently need the lists (unless you have a better solution - maybe you could make all the articles :-). --GreenReaper 00:03, 5 Sep 2005 (UTC)

Art
The Comics Code Authority and Underground comics as the creation/existence of Furry art?
Quite verifiably wrong and debunkable. Any perusal of books and/or articles relating to the Comic Code Authority findings and Underground comics does not bring up, or claim, this "historical" angle. That furry characters/funny animals were used in lieu of humans in underground media creation is well documented, but not the reason of the fandom's art origin.

The 2023 event had 5,189 attendees, the highest to date.

Early History
Megaplex
Pawpet Megaplex came into being as a replacement for Furry Spring Break, which was held in 2001. Furry Spring Break was unable to secure hotel space for a second convention in 2002, and folded. In its stead, Pawpet Live Experiences, Inc. was formed and on short notice held the first Pawpet Megaplex at the Ramada Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL. The convention supported the animal rescue C.A.R.E. Foundation, featuring a live animal presentation. The convention continued to support the same charity until 2023.

The convention moved to the movie-themed Sheraton Studio City Resort for its second and third years, closer to Universal Studios Florida. In 2003 the convention had its first guest of honor, Susan Rankin, and first of many musical guests, a capella group Toxic Audio. In 2004 Megaplex officially dropped the "Pawpet" from the name. Megaplex 3 was the first year to make heavy use of the convention theme ("MP3", derived from the abbreviation of the convention name) with posters and hallway decor.

The convention upgraded to larger quarters at the Sheraton World Resort, right next door to the SeaWorld Orlando theme park, from 2005 to 2006, continuing to introduce new traditions such as a Saturday Night "Rocky Horror Picture Show" viewing complete with staff members as cast members.

The Jacksonville Years
Due to rising hotel costs in Orlando, Megaplex was forced to move in 2007 and chose the Wyndham Jacksonville Riverfront in Jacksonville, Florida where they remained through 2008. During this time Megaplex saw a drop in attendance which was expected due to the move.

The Return to Orlando
Returning to the Orlando area, Megaplex was held at the Worldgate Resort in Kissimmee, Florida from 2009 to 2012, a short distance from Walt Disney World's main gate. The convention was rescheduled from March to late July to achieve better costs and hotel rates, and to help space the event out from the growing FWA. The con expanded its meeting space to include a larger Dealer's Den, an Artist Alley, and lounge area dubbed "The Lair."

From 2013 to 2015 Megaplex returned to Orlando proper and expanded into larger meeting space at the Marriott Orlando Airport hotel. The convention has increased its focus on quality main events and immersive theming. At the end of Megaplex XIV it was announced that the convention would be moving in 2016 to the Embassy Suites - Lake Buena Vista South in Kissimmee to accommodate the convention's growth.

After only 1 year Megaplex had outgrown the Embassy Suites - Lake Buena Vista South and at closing ceremonies of Megaplex XV announced that it would be moving to the Seaworld DoubleTree in Orlando, FL for Megaplex XVI. Megaplex had previously been held at this property for Megaplex 4 and Megaplex 5 when it was the Sheraton World Resort.

Megaplex remained at the Seaworld DoubleTree in Orlando, FL for Megaplex XVI and Megaplex XVII. While the new space was completed for use during the second year Megaplex's growth made it difficult to hold a 3rd year at this venue. It was announced at the end of Megaplex XVII that Megaplex would be moving to the Caribe Royale in Orlando, FL.

In 2023, Megaplex moved to the Hyatt Regency on International Drive, Orlando FL. That year, a change in state law precipitated the convention becoming an 18+ event.
* Megaplex offers high dollar member levels above Silver Sponsors, Gold Sponsor and Platinum Sponsor. Both receive all the perks of a Silver Sponsor level, plus special unique gifts each year such as engraved pocketwatches.
* Game show concepts have been introduced such as "Fursuit Deal or Big Deal," partly mirroring Deal or No Deal, with fursuiters instead of models.
* The convention's main events have been streamed live online since 2005.
* An exclusive hospitality lounge with hot meals is provided to Silver Sponsor and higher level attendees. Due to new venue policies, hot foods have been substituted to pre-packaged foods.
* The convention has donated "con badge number 1" for the following year in the charity auction since 2010. This badge number is usually reserved for convention chairman. The auctioning of badge number 1 raised over $300 for charity in 2010.
* Hall prizes called "Achievements" are awarded to attendees who accomplish them at any point during the convention. Most achievements are typically kept secret until the time they are rewarded.
* Megaplex archives all of its past con books, artwork, badge imagery, photos and videos on-line, available for all individuals to view on its web site.

Megaplex's stated goal is to provide "a celebration of interactive arts and performance, with a primary focus on anthropomorphics and fantasy". Programming has focused on fursuiting, puppetry, improvisation, and other types of performance.

Megaplex has featured musical performances by Toxic Audio, 4:2:Five, Matthew Ebel, Fox Amoore and Rhubarb the Bear, stage performances including musicals Julie Bunny Must Die! and Fosgate: Ferret Loan Officer, and out-of-fandom honored guests including Trace Beaulieu, Paul Zaloom and Noel MacNeal.

Furry Weekend Atlanta
Furry Weekend Atlanta, often abbreviated simply as FWA, is a regional furry convention held in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.

History
Furry Weekend Atlanta was the logical outgrowth of furry gathering held for years in Atlanta at the homes of various furs. Over the years, as more and more furs showed up in the metro Atlanta area, the gatherings became larger and larger. The idea of holding a furry convention was raised by several members of the Atlanta furry family, first in 2001 when nothing became of it, and then again in 2003. As a result of several planning sessions held in August of 2003, a concrete plan emerged to hold a convention in February of 2004. The name was chosen echoes that of Anime Weekend Atlanta.

Although the convention originally was held around Valentine's Day, often with a similar theme (represented in the conbook and on the con shirt), the con was rescheduled to a mid-March timeframe in 2009. As of May 2023, it is the 2nd largest furry convention.

Organization
Furry Weekend Atlanta is produced by Furry Weekend Atlanta, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation incorporated in the State of Georgia. Furry Weekend Atlanta Inc., in turn, is headed by an Executive Committee and tasked with operating the yearly convention and promoting the acceptance and appreciation of the anthropomorphic fandom in the Southeast and throughout the country as a whole. As a non-profit corporation, only funds necessary for the continuing operation of the convention are retained; the remaining funds are donated to appropriate charities.

In addition to operating the convention, Furry Weekend Atlanta, Inc. also maintains Georgia Furs, and works to organize the Georgia furry population for entertainment and service.

Furry Weekend Atlanta became a federally registered trademark on 2 December 2008.

Executive Committee
The current Executive Committee of Furry Weekend Atlanta, Inc. consists of:

* Ranan Fox, Chairman/CEO.

Staff
At the end of every convention, Furry Weekend Atlanta showcases its staffing ranks for the next convention season in a meeting held usually following closing ceremonies. Prospective applicants will be able to find out a little about the "behind the scenes" work of the convention and will be informed how to fill out the application online.

Charities
From 2005 to 2006, Furry Weekend Atlanta's official charity was the Ellijay Wildlife Rehabilitation Sanctuary.

The official charity for 2007 through 2013 was Animal Park at the Conservators Center, a nonprofit organization working to reconnect people with wildlife.

On February 19, 2024, the convention announced that Lost-n-Found Youth would become their new charity partner.

Furry Weekend Atlanta 2013 (FWA 2013) was the tenth iteration of FWA, which took place from March 14-17, 2013. The theme was "Still in Love", and the GoH were Jimmy Chin and Hibbary.

This year, the convention moved to the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel; due to the sheer number of floors, which had 69 (not including the spinning SunDial restaurant on the 70th), the convention was dubbed "ElevatorCon" by some attendees. Official attendance was 2,396, and in 1992 he got his first job as a mascot at Universal Studios, Florida. There, he would eventually act as such characters as Bugs Bunny, Kermit the Frog, and Yakko Warner.

In 1999, TILT began building his own costumes for Halloween parties, and at a 2002 party met Latin Vixen and Draconis, where he first heard of the furry fandom.

Being misinformed by a non-furry that the fandom was some kind of "kinky internet animal sexual fetish group", TILT avoided furries until Spring 2004, when he got his first computer. Looking up Latin Vixen's Mixed Candy website, he learnt about furries and fursuits, and was astonished to find there were others just as interested in anthropomorphic characters as he was.

TILT decided to build his own fursuit, and was (re-) introduced to local furries at a Halloween party hosted by Wildwolf.

In February 2005, TILT attended his first furry convention (Furry Weekend Atlanta 2005), and he has since attended several others. During Anthrocon 2007 he was mentioned in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette article "Anthrocons convention turns city into 'real zoo'".

He was a guest of honor at Furry Weekend Atlanta 2008, 2009 (with Tod Wills), and Motor City Furry Con 2015.

Fursuits
TILT has three fursuits:
* Wilson T. Longtail: a costume of TILT's fursona. Wilson was constructed in September-October 2004, and was inspired by Chester Cheetah and Marsupilami.
* Stormy Raccoon: Originally called Jugular Raccoon, this raccoon character was built to torment Jugular Jaguar during Midwest FurFest 2005 for his perceived victimization of raccoons. He was later renamed Stormy as he was built during Hurricane Wilma.
* Greifer: a red fox. Greifer was originally designed by Rotekatze and built by Jax. TILT first saw this fursuit at Furry Weekend Atlanta 2005, and in early 2006 was able to acquire it himself when it was auctioned online. Greifer is a German auto-mechanic and welder, and usually wears welding goggles.
* Brer Fox: A disney-esque character with his own fur body and from the Swamp this nickname called "Brer Fox's Swamp"

* Ranan Fox, Chairman/CEO.

The official charity for 2007 through the present is Animal Park at the Conservators Center, a nonprofit organization working to reconnect people with wildlife.
