== Sakiimi the character ==

Sakiimi is the alias of the [[artist]] Kristina Diggs, and the name of a [[character]] she created, a [[German Shepherd]] said to be born from the stars. Kristina Diggs lives in [[WikiPedia:Baltimore|Baltimore]], Maryland, U.S.A., and is an art school student.

Originally Sakiimi was invented to be part of the story ''Vega'', but soon became her own standalone entity.

=== Physical appearance ===

Standing flat foot at 5'7", Sakiimi is predominantly standard in markings, being tan in coat with a bar down her back. Her fore and hind paws are a warm deep grey, almost black. Her tail is the same color. Her miss-matched ears (one dark grey and erect while the the other, tan, is flopped) suggest that her background may include more than just German Shepherd ancestry. Her eyes are mixed too, one icy blue and the other intense green. Unlike most German Shepherds, Sakiimi's face is all tan. Her nose is black.

Her hair is back length and flipped. It is naturally light auburn in color (as it first appears the story ''Vega'') but is styled in a more rebellious fashion, still auburn in the front with pink tendrils on the side. In the back, it's cut shorter and dyed black, styled in a spikey flipped manner.

Sakiimi has two siblings, a [[Fennec fox]] she adopted in 2003 named Wasabi, and an older brother, also adopted, named Grynn Wolf.

=== Personallity ===

Sakiimi's personality is sweet and carring like any German Shepherd. She's fun loving and loyal. Her favorite toys are a tennis ball and her very special squeaky fish. She is so far single, choosing for herself to wait for the right guy to come her way, although she has had her fair share of male company. She is a big flirt even with the same sex.

== Story ==

Castle Horsetooth is a spinoff of Room For One More, occurring in the same location but many years in the past. Both comic series are set in the locale of what in the real world would be Fort Collins, Colorado. Many readers will recognize the familiar shape of the famous Mt. Horsetooth in the background of Room For One More. Castle Horsetooth, located near what would eventually become Frye's mansion, sits directly in front of the tooth-shaped summit.

In its first story, the comic is followed the old song "Sing a Song of Sixpence" detective-style, involving a put-upon baker and his nervous breakdown at the hands of a choir of songbirds.

The current story, as of this revision, follows a brand new interpretation of the song "[[wikipedia:Ring a Ring O'Roses|Ring Around the Rosie]]", as a mysterious plague hits the castle in the middle of a gardening competition.

Diapers are an item frequently used while "cubbing out". Like other aspects of babyfur, this can be done in the virtual world, the real world, or both. There are many babyfurs, however, that while they will wear diapers in online roles, do not in real life. Many babyfurs will wear diapers in real life for a feeling of security and comfort, but will not use them for their intended purpose. At the other end of the spectrum, there are some babyfurs that, either by choice or by necessity, wear and use diapers all the time.

Why babyfurs wear, and possibly use, diapers in the real world is varied. For some, they are forced to wear them because of a medical condition and have no choice in the manner. These people have often blended their real life situation with their furry persona. For others, it is a way they can regress into their [[fursona|furry persona]]'s age. Some others see the diapers as a connection to their furry persona, paralleling a [[tail]] or [[fursuit]] in the general furry community.

The wearing (and especially the use) of diapers in the real world are at the heart of many issues that some members of the furry community in general have with the babyfurs. For example, it is not generally considered appropriate for a diaper user to soil themselves at [[convention]] in the presence of other [[furry fan]]s - or to put themselves in a situation where this is likely to happen - yet individuals have been known to do this, to the detriment of the group's reputation.

==Babyfur behavior==
When cubbing out in both the real world and in online roleplaying, the level of connection to the role will vary between each player. Some babyfurs will become so involved and yearn for such an authentic childish mentality that they will use speech impediments and [[Wikipedia:baby talk|baby talk]] to communicate. Very few babyfurs make a habit out of using babytalk in the real world, similar to a [[Wikipedia:gay lisp|gay lisp]]. Depending on the situation, a babyfur could even develop a habit of whining or crying to get what he/she wants from a caregiver or another roleplayer.

In light online [[role-playing]], babyfurs may toddle, crawl and wag their tails playfully while the sounds of crinkling diapers abound. Pouncing, giggling, cuddling, [[snug]]gling and tummy rubbing ensue with the maximum possible level of cuteness.

Child-like behaviour, baby animal sounds and an emphasis on [[cuteness]] are widespread among [[furry fans]] when among themselves, even those who don't call themselves babyfurs and who don't participate in other babyfur activities described here, such as diapers or baby clothing.

While most babyfurs are closely attached to the development of young [[human]]s, a different approach can be found in online [[role-play]], where newborn [[zoomorphic]] and [[anthropomorphic]] [[characters]] often grow up at a similar pace as wild animals, doing without accessories such as diapers and learning to walk in a short time. This has the practical advantage of sooner getting into an age that allows interesting role-play even for non-babyfurs when playing a character since birth. As in nature, opinions on when a character can be considered adult vary greatly.

"Cubbing Out" is a general term used by the community to describe roleplaying as a babyfur character. This can either be roleplay in the virtual world or the real world. Usually it will involve one or more regressed characters or people interacting with each other or with a caregiver.

===Babyfurs and pedophilia===

Like other furry fans, babyfurs often exhibit sexual attraction to anthropomorphic animals by participating in [[TinySex]]. But because this usually involves adult players [[roleplaying]] sexual situations involving prepubescent characters, the question of whether babyfurs are [[Wikipedia:Pedophilia|pedophiles]] often arises.

Babyfurs generally assert that roleplaying as underage characters doesn't imply sexual attraction to such characters. For example, some roleplay as young furries due to a longing to be young again, and have no sexual element to their roleplay.

Of those that do participate in sexual activity, some are interested in (for example) the fantasy of submission to an adult figure. Those who have TinySex with other babyfurs sometimes argue that if there is no adult '''character''' involved, the activity is not pedophilia. Others may stress that since characters portrayed are not '''human''', it is not meaningfully pedophilia. Outsiders often disagree, since the activity still involves actual adults taking an interest in prepubertal persons depicted in sexual situations.

This debate applies equally to visual and written depictions of babyfurs in sexual relations, and disagreements are often intense, between those with concerns about pedophilia, those who feel babyfur is distinct from pedophilia (because of players' identification with characters or the species of those characters), and those who don't care who enjoys it just as long as they're not forced to see it.

===Babyfurs vs. non-babyfurs===
The concept of babyfurs is quite contentious with some members of the [[fandom]]. Some furries and non-furries who have identified themselves as babyfurs or were identified by others as being babyfurs may have acted inappropriately at [[convention]]s in the past. Such contentious behavior has allegedly included wearing diapers in public without using proper hygiene and trying to push uninterested people into babyfur roleplay, including sexual roleplay. These behaviors are frowned upon by the babyfur community in general, and such incidents, if perpetrated by babyfurs, are done by a small number of babyfurs within a larger babyfur community. The community in general adopted guidelines of conduct for how to act in public after a rash of such alleged incidents at conventions in an effort to police themselves.

Furries who dislike babyfurs may do so for a variety of common points, including:

*Grossed out by the concept of diaper lovers (or, in the aforementioned cases, by the smell)
*Concern that some babyfurs may be pedophiles
*Previous negative experiences with those who identify themselves as babyfurs or were identified by others as being babyfurs.
*Fear that babyfur behavior will be associated as a characteristic of the general fandom, especially in the media

While there is some conflict between babyfurs and the general fandom, such conflicts should not be overstated. The majority of babyfurs and non-babyfurs coexist quite well because the majority of babyfurs do not engage in the more extreme behaviors mentioned here.

== Season One ==

TigerTails Radio was started because TK Tiger felt that most Internet radio was rubbish, as all the stations he found were [[Wikipedia:MP3|MP3]] playlists with no one presenting the show. Teaming up with [[Blaster Hedgie]], TK decided to "put the voice" back in to Internet radio by running a furry radio station for an entire year. The first airdate was 20 July 2004.

For the first few broadcasts, TigerTails Radio was just talk radio, but MP3s soon found their way into the show as TK purchased more equipment. By the end of Season One, the show was running two feeds: one in mono for dial-up users, and a second in stereo for those on broadband.

Season One aired for three hours, every night of the week. When neither TK nor BH hosted the show, a reserve co-host was drafted in to cover. Replacement hosts included other UK furs [[Lazerus101]], [[Tungro]], [[SouthPaw]], and [[Goten]].

After 365 shows, TigerTails Radio celebrated its first birthday, and was killed off by TK, as it had achieved his goal of airing every single day since its creation.

=== ShepFact ===

During Season One, TK decided it was a good idea to have content supplied by the listeners. One listener was a fountain of knowledge who had just appeared on the Furry scene named [[Shep Shepherd]]. Every day Shep would supply the show with a fact, which either host would read out during the ShepFact music (a 50 second version of the ''[[Wikipedia:Blue Peter|Blue Peter]]'' theme). Shep would then put the fact in his [[LiveJournal]], and TK would update the TigerTails Radio website. When Shep was in the studio, he often prepared extra special ShepFacts for the show. To this day, Shep continues to post a daily ShepFact to his journal.

The most memorable show from Season One was the 80's Disco. This is the only show the cast have a full archive of. The show ran for eight hours, 9PM until 5AM UK time. The main show was the normal three hours, but it was bookended by non-stop 80's music. The studio was turned into a dance-floor, complete with food, drinks, disco lights, and a mirror ball. A large number of guests turned up for the show, though few lasted the whole eight hours. A non-furry friend of [[Blaster Hedgie]] archived the show and posted it to the studio.

==== Karaoke Night ====

To celebrate the changing of the year from 2004 to 2005, TigerTails Radio held a [[Wikipedia:karaoke|karaoke]] night. Music was provided by the studio's [[Wikipedia:PS2|PS2]] and various editions of the game ''[[Wikipedia:SingStar|SingStar]]''. A large number of gusts came to see the new year in, and many took part in the singing. Notable performances included [[Klepsydra]] singing "Ace Of Spades", [[Leinir]] performing "Ain't No Sunshine", and TK's version of "Affirmation" - which he hated, but a few listeners enjoyed enough to ask him to repeat the song. He refused, and it became a running gag to ask TK to sing Affirmation. Klepsydra's "Ace Of Spades" was voted the best song of the night.

==== The Waffle Night ====

Near the end of Season One, a visit to the studio by Lazerus101 inspired the cast to relive the old talk radio style of show. The conversation was fast and flowing, to the point where the entire show had passed without anyone remembering to play any music. Only one listener complained about this, while others wrote in to say how much they had enjoyed the show.

==== TigerTails Radio Comic Relief Gunge-a-thon 1 ====

12 March 2005 was the night of the UK childrens' charity [[Wikipedia:Comic Relief|Comic Relief]] (also known as "Red Nose Day".) TK decided it would be a good idea to raise money for this good cause by throwing 8 litres (US: [[Wikipedia:Liter|liter]]) of [[Wikipedia:BBC|BBC]] [[Wikipedia:gunge|gunge]] over the regular cast members. TK Tiger press-ganged [[Bungle BearSkunk]], Blaster Hedgie, and Lazerus101 into taking part as victims. Guests in the studio could donate money to pour the bucket of gunge over the cast member sat in "the hot seat" - which was a very cold seat as the gungings took place outside on a cold spring night.

[[Dark Lordess]] poured a bucket of orange gunge over TK first. An hour later Lazerus101 dumped 8 litres of blue gunge over BH. Another hour followed before TK got to be on the pouring end of the bucket, as he covered Bungle in a second blue bucket. Finally at around 1:30am, Laz received a bucket of orange gunge from [[TimmyPup]], who had donated £100 via the TigerTails Radio's portion of the Comic Relief website, kindly setup by SouthPaw. The show raised £301 in total.

==== The Final Show ====

TigerTails Radio celebrated its first birthday on 20 July 2005. During this show, TK made the announcement that this would be the last TigerTails Radio broadcast for Season One. The show turned in to a party, with people remembering their favorite shows, or sections from the show. After the show ended, the cast (chiefly TK, Blaster Hedgie and Shep Shepherd) waited a few moments before broadcasting an extra section for another hour of random fun. The show finally ended for real with TK reprising his karaoke night performance of "Affirmation".

== Pup Music Radio ==

'''Pup Music''' was a radio project to carry on where TigerTails Radio left off. A group of TigerTails Radio listeners, lead by [[Goten]], came together and created their own show. Over half a year after TigerTails Radio was pulled off the air, Blaster Hedgie asked TK Tiger if he fancied restarting the radio show. TK agreed, and got to work preparing everything for Season Two of TigerTails Radio. This time the show would not be aired every night, but only when both TK and BH had the time to spare. This created a sporadic show schedule, so TK decided to archive each show and offer them for download for those who missed an episode.

Season Two aired 36 shows. The last show was the second Comic Relief Gunge show. Many technical problems stopped Season 2 from reaching its target of 100 shows, with two hard disk failures in the broadcast machine, the loss of the show archive server, amp and mixer problems, and the loss of the broadcast server.

22nd of February 2006 was the date of the pilot show, numbered show #0. It wasn't a true show, but a live dry-run to test the new equipment. It got a good number of listeners, even without advertising. The show ran for the full three hours, and featured [[Silver Tomcat]] live via [[Wikipedia:Skype|Skype]], a new feature.

==== TigerTails Radio Comic Relief Gunge-a-thon 2 ====

After raising over £300 in 2005, everyone involved thought it would be a good idea to try and raise the same amount, if not more, when Comic Relief 2007 rolled around. Three months of planning came together on 16 March 2007, when the second Gunge-a-thon took place. Ten furs, including the four victims from last time, took part - each getting a bucket of BBC gunge and a second bucket of something else.

The BBC gunge was poured by a friend of TK from the world of theatre. Like before, those in the studio could donate to pour a second bucket over the victim. A few victims' second bucket had been decided before the event thanks to online donations. These included [[Jowgenetsu]]'s gunging with porridge at the hands of [[Wikipedia:Lord Voldemort|Lord Voldemort]] as Jowgenetsu looked like [[Wikipedia:Harry Potter|Harry Potter]].

Furs gunged were [[Lazerus101]], [[SouthPaw]], Jowgenetsu, [[Xell]], [[Tungro]], Bungle BearSkunk, WolfPaw, Tryst, Blaster Hedgie, and finally [[TK Tiger]].

The night raised £700 for Comic Relief, more than double the 2005 effort, and £200 more than the night's target of £500.

== Season Three ==

Season Three of TigerTails Radio began airing on 17 September 2007, starting with another Show #0. It didn't go smoothly and a few problems were discovered and ironed out. The studio lost its Internet connection on the date Show #1 was due to air due to a change in ISP. Show #0.5 aired on Monday 19 November, using the studio's brand new (and much faster) Internet connection. This test show went without major incident, and [[Sacred]] was even able to call in to the studio via Skype without the technical difficulties previously involved.

A problem with spyware caused a big headache for TK shortly before Show #5 was due to air, as it killed the broadcast machine. Show #5 was not only Season 3's first Theme Night (TV Theme Tunes in this case), but it was also the Christmas Eve/Day show. A hasty install of XP (on a failing hard disk) failed to resolve the problem, forcing TK to reinstate an old piece of show equipment replaced after Season 1. Blaster Hedgie's laptop had been used to provide the music for the show but was replaced by the Skype PC in Season Two and vinyl records in Season Three. It served as a broadcast machine until TK fixed the normal broadcast computer.

While a schedule of airing dates was be listed on the front page of the TigerTails Radio website, the cast tried to air a show every Monday if possible. It was agreed that a regular air-date would help the show gain repeat listeners, while extra shows could be added mid-week if needed. TigerTails Radio 24 (see TTR24 below) saw listeners in to 2008 instead of a regular show, with Season Three restarted on Monday 7 January.

Show #14 was the first show to take advantage of the [[BritFur FM]] server, allowing TigerTails Radio to broadcast in stereo for the first time since late Season One. The BritFur stream was broadcast in 128kbps stereo, whereas [[Pridelands]] was still broadcast in 56kbps mono. As of Show #16, the show archive is recorded in stereo.

Show #22 was the first show to introduce a musical underscore to each show, and also a change in format (see Memorable Show #22). This format was maintained until Show #29.

On the morning of Show #29, six days before the show's fourth birthday, long-standing co-host BH decided to stand down from TigerTails Radio. His LiveJournal post on the matter lists his work schedule as one reason for deciding to quit, as well as feeling that he was no longer up to the task of being entertaining. BH had failed to appear on every show since Show #25, so his announcement was no surprise. His departure saw TK take the show back to its pirate roots for a while while a new co-host was sourced.

After a period of time, regular guest [[Eeve3]] became the new co-host, while another member of TK's household, Xavier, became the new regular guest. Records were replaced by MP3s again after the motor in the record player became unreliable, and the show never returned to the musical-underscore format of the PSP days. After Show #43, plans to end Season Three at Show #52 were decided, with TTR24 taking over the slot until a good working arrangement for Season Four could be decided upon.

Dubbed the EPIC SHOW OF POWER by Dante the Jedi in the #tigertailsradio AnthroChat IRC channel, Show #17 was a small celebration of Easter 2008 that quickly got out of hand. [[Southpaw]] visited the studio for the first time in Season 3, Hedgie actually got something right for a change, and the show Blankety Blank actually ran like the TV show for the first time since the team started doing it. After the show ended, TK decided to broadcast a little extra music to scare the people still connected in to going to bed.

TK played "classic" old records like Mr Blobby, Rupert The Bear, The Addams Groove, and a collection of [[Wikipedia:Black Lace|Black Lace]] songs. Eventually, he resorted to letting Hedgie sing on the show, even digging out Affirmation (not seen since the end of Season One). Listeners were then invited to message the studio to show they were still listening. Responding listeners were (in no order): [[Kyyanno]], [[Mhisani]], [[CW Tyger]], [[Dante the Jedi]], [[Split Persona]] and [[Owl]], though server stats at the time reported nine users connected to the streams. Finally, after an extra two hours, TK called it a night and ended the broadcast for real, ending after a second round of the National Anthem (played at the end of every show since Season One Show #1) and a firm instruction of "Go To Bed", followed by a brief message announcing there will be "No Extra Part 2". Finally, the connections to Pridelands and BritFur were disconnected.

The archive (in the original .ogg format) was 148MB in size, compared to the show's normal archive size of around 90MB.

==== Show #22 ====
Nicknamed the Dead Show in a LiveJournal post by TK before the show aired, this was the first show of Season Three to run without any copyrighted music. It was also the first show ever to have backing music for the entire show. The new format came thanks to technical failures in two of the show's fleet of PCs (taking three hard-disks with them). The show was a very basic affair, with the opening jingle and the entire night's backing music being supplied by TK's PlayStation Portable. There was no Skype or messengers running, and IRC was op-less as the secondary IRC machine was the only IRC PC running. The show ended with TK playing the National Anthem live using BH's Keytar, as the .ogg version normally played wasn't converted and put on the PSP in time.

This show was three hours of talking, much like the Waffle Night of Season One. Though constant buffering problems kept the listener count down, those who did battle through the skipping gave enough positive feedback to convince TK to keep the format and turn TigerTails Radio in to BritFur FM's first Talk Show, which also meant that TigerTails Radio was no longer a pirate radio show.

[[Mustan]] provided the Blankety Blank questions for the night, which was won by TK (winning 50 blanks).

==== Show #41 ====
Also known as "The Drunk Show!", in which TigerTails Radio took a somewhat more alcohol-fueled look at the world for one night only, sponsored by [[Dante the Jedi]]. Having work in the morning, TK was drinking Tiger Beer (so he wouldn't get too drunk), Eeve3 was on vodka-based drinks, the teetotal Jowgenetsu was on Coke, while guests Lazerus, FoxieDragon and Draconder were drinking vodka, pear cider and beer respectively.

The evening ended with Eeve3 being more drunk than she had ever been in her life, and a rather merry FoxieDragon being escorted home by Lazerus and Jowgenetsu. Eeve3 woke up still drunk; after suffering her hangover she vowed never to drink that much again, ever!

=== Theme nights ===

While Season One had a theme night every Saturday, the idea was ditched for Season Two. Season Three saw the return of the theme night idea. The original plan was to have a theme night every fifth show, but that ultimately did not happen. So far, the theme nights have been:

== Pre-Season Four ==

TTR24 lasted until January 2009, whereupon a series of Pre-Season Four shows began. A new mixer and a condenser microphone had been obtained over the Christmas period, and TK was keen to play with his new toys. Using a mic stand stolen from BH's copy of [[Wikipedia:Rock_Band_(video_game)|Rock Band]] and a good number of cable ties, TK managed to rig up a system where three microphones could be used, with a fourth mic hanging from TK's headphone cable. With the microphones no longer on the table, laptops could be brought in, and IRC corner was moved from afar to the centre of the action.

A new phono to USB adapter had also been obtained, allowing the show to be broadcast on one PC via USB (eliminating Sound Card Hiss) while a PC connected to the phono output could archive everything. An old PC was found, and the archiving software installed. The USB audio input, however, caused one of the show's webcams to fail (due to driver conflicts) resulting in the show only having a single webcam where there had been two in Season Three.

Finally, thanks to the new mixer having a cross-fader, TK's PSP could make a come-back with the backing music. The laptop formally belonging to BH was once again used to supply the normal music. It was also used to let TK play in IRC. The backing music was again Creative Commons, and mostly sourced from the artist Sanxion7.

9 Pre-Season Four shows ran, with Show #9 being the first to reintroduce Skype on a dedicated PC since the trial runs of Season Three. Show #9 was also the first show to introduce a second new mixer which allowed for increased volumes on the microphones (a problem plaguing the other Pre-Season Four shows), more sound effects, and the allowance for more things to be plugged in. Another mixer was rescued from the Season Three left-overs and used for the Skype PC. Fellow BritFur broadcaster [[Stuart Otterson]] joined the final Pre-Season Four show via Skype, winning the call-in game of "Twenty Questions" on his final chance.

== Season Four ==

Season Four started on March 16 2009. The show still uses [[Wikipedia:Shoutcast|Shoutcast]], and will support [[Wikipedia:podcasting|podcasting]]. The first podcast went live in late February, and was a segment of Pre-Season Four show #6. The segment was a trial run of a feature named That Time of the Month; a topical (and amusing) news quiz designed to give BH an excuse to come out retirement once a month. That Time of the Month will be done on the last show of each month, with the cast reviewing the month's news.

The Pre-Season Four shows helped the cast bash out a rough schedule for each show. The first 30 minutes is spent with the opening song, and the cast talking about their week, as well as any important news that may have affected them. The second half of the first hour is spent reviewing things, and updates on the Xavier Retro Gaming Challenge (another new segment for Season Four). The last hour is mostly chatting with IRC, playing music, Skype games, and if it's the last show of the month then That Time of the Month is played.

Future plans for Season Four include the TigerTails Radio Comic Relief Gunge-a-thon 3, which has been put-back due to the economic downturn. This is now due to take place during the summer months.

The first update of the Yahoo360 blog in 2009 revealed the first show of Season Four was Show #472, counting all full shows since the very first show of Season One on July 20 2004. On Monday 20 July 2009, TigerTails Radio will hit Show #490, and become 5 years old.

== TTR24 ==

TigerTails Radio 24 (TTR24 for short) is a playlist set up for times when TigerTails Radio would normally be off-air, or for when a main show can't appear as scheduled. TTR24 often takes over during Christmas and New Years, and can run for many days non-stop. Season Three Show #28 saw TTR24 precede TigerTails Radio's live show for the first time, something which continued until the end of the season. TTR24 then took over for a few weeks before Season Four began in March 2009.

In times when the main TigerTails Radio show can not be broadcast, TTR24 is broadcast on all regular show servers. All other times, TTR24 is exclusive to the Pridelands server.

Serena is the character, the player behind her tends to share many similar personality traits though. Serena's appearance is basically a dark pink furred snow leopard, with large black scaled wings, as well as two horns on her head, which she usually keeps hidden. She has long, dark purple hair, and tends to change the style often.

She has a secondary form which she also uses, but it's only for certain people.

==Player History==

Serena's player was born in August of 1989. They were born in the state of Georgia, where they currently still live. They tend to hang out with a few other furs, namely Myoti and Skunk Rocker.

She is currently making plans to move away from her birth place and live with other furs.

==Interests==

Both Serena and her player have a fond interest in music, primarily listening to various forms of rock, much ska, and tons of punk, but they also like old school rap and hip-hop, as well as many older bands. They also have a love for classical music. They love to play video games, primarily MMOs with friends, but also many others.

They both love to read, although each oddly has different tastes. Serena likes dark, horror novels, with a bit of mystery, while her player likes fantasy novels with magic and the like in them, but they both share the same author, Neil Gaiman.

The comic strip is updated weekly, currently on a Wednesday. It is rendered using [[Wikipedia:Poser|Poser]] and then edited and composited in [[Wikipedia:Photoshop|Photoshop]], where the lettering is also added.

The comic has been in colour since the beginning, although there has been some experimentation with layout. It began running in March 2004.

From episode six (''Footprints'') the comic went to a new, more 'comic book' style, with a more dynamic layout and a very different look to the graphics. While it's still in the learning stage, the changes will also make a printed comic more likely.

''Exodus'' began when Pepper, who had played with Poser for some years, decided she wanted to produce something more substantial than the portraits of [[role playing]] characters she had been doing. Posting "I want to start a webcomic" to one of the [[Furry fandom|Furry]] bulletin boards and receiving no coherent offer to provide the writing, she started doing the whole thing herself. A later attempt at collaboration with a writer did not go well and the current story developed in a somewhat haphazard fashion as Pepper learned on the job.

Many of the characters in Exodus are based on Pepper's friends in the Role-playing game [[Furcadia]]. Many can still be found there, and can be met at the [http://tppc.entwinedstudios.com/ The Pink Pussy Bar] which is run by Pepper's friend [[Foxy Malone]].

===Plot===

''Exodus'' tells the story of a group of artificial people or bioroids derisively called "Furries" by their [[human]] creators. The plot assumes that sometime during the 21st century a judge hearing a case needed to define how a being could be classified as truly human - his decision to base this on the percentage of original human DNA passed into law and was used by later manufacturers to produce beings who were legally "property" rather than "people". The concept is heavily based on ideas from the film ''Blade Runner'' and the Role-playing game ''Transhuman space''. The characters in ''Exodus'' are attempting to win their freedom, and the personalities of some are loosely based on historical figures such as Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X. A general unease with portraying anything which could be considered a form of terrorism led Pepper to decide that their general approach would be one of non-violent protest such as that advocated by Mahatma Ghandi.

Much of the background and assumptions have been written up in the extensive forums. This has been something of a problem as occasionally the story may be difficult to follow for a reader who has not browsed this background information. From its original concept of ''Blake's 7'' with Furries, the comic has begun to change more to ''Firefly'' crossed with ''Star Trek: Voyager''. At the end of 2005, the cast escaped from the Terran controlled solar system in a cobbled together starjump capable freighter, and the emphasis of the most recent strips has been in the exploration of alien worlds as the cast search for a safe home.

While Furrydom in general has an (occasionally deserved) reputation as being overly concerned with sex, Exodus does not depict blatantly [[erotic]] scenes. Pepper does not shy away from showing that the characters have sexual relationships: they just aren't explicitly shown in the comic. However some [[fan art]] and writing has been produced of a more risqué nature, and Pepper has produced some adult images which are only available for distribution to older readers.

Violence is shown more graphically in the story: characters die, and their deaths are not usually hidden unless exceptionally gory. The webcomic is a story, and does not have an (intentionally) funny element to it.

Their route takes them through the orbital colony of L5, where they run into both an EonCorp assassin and a different rebel bioroid group. '''Episode three''' - ''Down old London Town'' follows on from Calico and Carla's flight from L5, with the survivors of the attack by Heaven McKensie, the EonCorp super-assassin. The characters are in London, attempting to contact the ex-EonCorp employee who they hope will have more information on what EonCorp are doing. However the contact is already under observation, and Calico and Carla walk into trouble. A chase ensues through London, ending with Curvia's team destroying several police mechs. The group escape off world. Characters introduced: Carla's parents, Fyber, Specter.

'''Episode four''' - ''On the Rocks'' begins with the group nearly back at Reuel's base. However the spy has revealed its position and the Navy has the base under observation. Calico has put the clues together and reveals the identity of the spy, but not soon enough. The Marines invade and several of Reuel's team are killed before the base is evacuated. Reuel sacrifices himself to give the others time to escape, loaded into an old freighter refitted with a black market jump drive. Characters introduced: [[Sashi]].

'''Episode five''' - ''Orbital Decay'' begins as the crew come out of their first hyperjump and find themselves in another star system. Curvia and Foxy argue over their next action, and Calico reveals her control over Diogenes to resolve the situation. Travelling to a scout base in the system hoping to find supplies and repair their ship, the bioroids discover an unknown ship docked there and the crew of both station and ship dead. Looking for the spare parts they need, they discover the source of the carnage and the prize they were fighting over.

'''Episode six''' - ''Footprints'' follows on from ''Orbital Decay'', with the crew taking stock of their situation after the orbital station is destroyed. With their ship damaged and supplies running low, they decide to risk a landing on the alien planet below to scavenge the abandoned scout base. Foxes are one of the [[List of most popular phenotypes|most popular phenotypes]] chosen by [[furries]], with the Red Fox being a popular subspecies.

This may be due to the frequent [[anthropomorphic|anthropomorphization]] of the fox in literature such as in [[Aesop's Fables]], and movies such as Disney's [[Robin Hood]]. In addition, the fox is part of popular figures of speech, such as "the fox guarding the henhouse", "crazy as a fox", "she's a fox", etc.

As the fox is portrayed frequently and in a myriad of ways, this may give it broader appeal, and make it easier for people to associate with; hence, its popularity as a fursona.

Since the fox enjoys such widespread popularity as a fursona, occasionally multiple furries with fox fursonas will choose the same name, which causes confusion. Indeed, on popular servers with many users, a fox furry may be unable to obtain the user name of choice, and may be forced to add one or more numbers after the username to differentiate from other users. This is probably the source of the assertion that "foxes are numbered", but in reality, they are not yet identified by sequential enumeration.

Foxes, in old religions, were associated with gender changes. (For example, [[kitsune]] were traditionally depicted as being able to turn into an old man, a young woman, or a mature fox, as desired.) This is directly contradicted by the "cunning fox" stereotype however, so foxes can be clichéd as either ditzy ''or'' devious. Tank fell into the furry fandom through another local fur one afternoon when he asked her a weird question about [[tails]]. Glancing at [[Jax The Purple Bat]]'s elfwood account for most of sophomore year didn't help much either. She's attempted to remain active in the [[MNFurs]] (formerly the ''SNC Furs'') group. Having so far been successful after surviving a brief stint in Indiana and the [[WhoozFur]] group. As well as less than a year in Santa fe, New Mexico studying what should have been [[art]] but was really just [[illicit drugs]] and [[Wikipedia:Rebellion|social unrest]].

Before Tank was Tank she was a few other things. The first was an [[arctic fox]] named '''Imari Wiggalbhutte'''. The character was actually given to her by an otter in Ohio. Imari still shows up every once in a while in artwork, but rarely. These days Imari mainly serves to be abused for random ideas and for [[Wikipedia:Singles Awareness Day|Singles Awareness Day]] posters.

====Edehn====
A change of space seemed to call for a change of face. Because after moving to Indiana in 2005 and letting Imari fall to the wayside, Tank started developing '''Edehn'''. Edehn is a white [[lioness]] with a slight mutation that gives her pointed ears. Even though she uses Tank as her primary character Edehn is her most personal character. Most fursonas embody strengths whereas Edehn was designed specifically to embody weaknesses.
