This page could do with some reorganising, integration of organiser list into each year's section, and a clean-up and expansion of the MiDFur X section. Oh, and is the old logo still around anywhere? Really, that should still be here, sarcastic thanks goes to whoever replaced it with the promotive MiDFur X one. If I remember, and I can be bothered, I might actually do this work on it myself sooner or later. Jasp 09:23, 1 November 2008 (UTC)

Jasp: Clean-ups and a bit of expansion on this year's and next's MiDFurs

:See also MidFur for fans from the English Midlands.

MiDFur is short for Melbourne in December Fur Meet, an event that has been held annually since 1999 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Traditionally, the furmeet takes place in 'MiD'-December, two weeks before Christmas.

History
Origins
MiDFur was originally Atpaw's planned December 1999 meet-up of five furs scattered around Australia. From Melbourne, Alpha X-ray. From Newcastle, Atpaw and Sepharen. From Adelaide, TimberFox and finally, from Brisbane, Whyrl.

During the course of planning, 'MiDFur' was decided upon to identify the event and word spread of the small private meet-up. However, as the time of the convention grew near, the founders began to withdraw from attendance due to real-life commitments, until all five had pulled out. A furry named Muse volunteered to step in and take up the reins. Since then, a different furry has organised the meet each year. However, none of the original founders of MiDFur attended the event they set into motion for several years.

Since then, planning of the event has become increasingly open to the public, mostly discussed on the Ozfurry mailing list and SA Furs discussion forum. Four of the five founders did end up attending MiDFur, though rarely in the same year.

MiDFur 2006
MiDFur 2006 was organised by Scrapper and was held from December 15 to 17 with a "plushie" theme. About 55 furs were booked for the opening night feast. The event concluded with the South Fur Lands Binding Party, where awards were presented for different categories of plushies. Two different t-shirts were made available; one of them featured a colour design by Mye.

MiDFur 2007
In 2007, organisation of MiDFur was again headed by Scrapper, with other furs – Byftpup, ArcticPete, and Firey – organising parts of the event. It was held on the 14th to the 16th of December 2007. 127 furries attended the Friday dinner, which broke previous dinner attendance records. MiDFur shirts (featuring art by MistyStriker), hoodies, and lanyards were made available to attendants for purchase.

MiDFur X (2008)
The 2008 MiDFur, named MiDFur 'X', is currently being planned, to be for the first time as a convention rather than simply a meet. The planned date is to December 12th to 15th.

MiDFur Organisers
* 1999: Muse
* 2000: Silverblue
* 2001: Shadow 5-tails, Asagwe, Silverblue, and Brandt
* 2002: Muse
* 2003: Ebony Pony
* 2004: Nova
* 2005: Hespa
* 2006: Scrapper
* 2007: Scrapper et al.

LawWolf (also known as LoneAntarcticWolf, Lore or Khion; born June 12th, 1986) is a furry who lives in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. Most people refer to and know him only by one of his online aliases.

LawWolf has been a furry since 1996, though he only discovered the furry community in late 2006 when he was introduced to it by his canine friend Bingo Dingo. LawWolf subsequently became a "full furry" in early 2007, and soon developed his fursona, a tan, grey and white timber wolf who has the uncanny ability to create and manipulate ice. LawWolf derived this fursona from images he drew for stories about wolves he used to write when he was much younger.

LawWolf draws anthropomorphic art, dabbles in writing poetry and short fan fiction stories, and also does a bit of photography, though his primary form of art is digital art. He creates landscapes, primarily using the program Terragen to create images.

In addition to his obvious fascination with canines, LawWolf adores eagles, white tigers, dragons, foxes and dragonflies. He has three fursonas - a Wolf/Husky hybrid named Reuben (or Lore), a black wolf named Shaide and a tiger/panther mix (black tiger with white stripes) named Jhett. Jhett and Shaide were created in memory of his older sister and younger brother, whom he never got to know.

In late 2007, LawWolf relocated from Brisbane, Queensland to Melbourne, where he resides with one of his partners, Lone Wolf (the other being VladSnakeDragon). He is also a friend of the Westhaven group from Brisbane.

In his spare time, LawWolf goes bowling, hangs out with friends, plays LaserForce or LaserTag and surfs the internet.

Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras

2007-04-01T10:02:11Z

Jasp:

The Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras is an annual gay pride parade and festival for the LGBT community in Sydney, Australia.

Although not a furry event, furries have been involved in the Mardi Gras for many years, organizing a float in the Mardi Gras' street parade.

2007 Event
The furry float for the 2007 Mardi Gras was a constructed on a flatbed truck by Dustan Da Fox and Lupie, with the theme "Furries Love to be Wild". The jungle-undergrowth design was painted with the assistance of Barbary Lion, Harley Coyote, and Jay Fear.

The fursuiters attending the event rode on the float whilst non-fursuiters marched behind wearing black T-shirts with a rainbow-colour pawprint motif. The marchers also wore ears and tails if they had them.

Furries involved in the parade were:
Fursuiters
* Marcwolf, Marko the Rat, Oz Kangaroo, Ristin, Tzup
Non-fursuiters
* Barbary Lion
