Ixis is the character of Rebecca McIvor, an artist and fursuiter from Scotland.

Appearance
Ixis stands at around 5'5 and weighs 140 pounds. She has royal blue fur with white accents. Her face is mostly feline, resembling a large cat, with featureless white eyes. On her forehead is a large stone embedded into her skull. Her mouth is barbed with sharp pointed teeth to assist in catching fish. Her ears are very large and sit at either side of her head. She has long, soft, white headfur that falls around her shoulders. On top of her head are two sharp, short spiral shaped horns. She has large bat-like wings with black membrane. She has modified paw-like hands with short digits and a small thumb, with large retractable claws. Her hind legs end in cloven hooves. She has no tail.

Biology
Ixis is a created anthropomorphic creature comprised of the DNA of hundreds of different animals, including human. The resulting species is named a "Wyvern" after the mythological creature. All Wyvern that are created are genetically programmed to expire after a certain time has elapsed as a safety measure, which can be discerned from the number of stripes on their horns. Wyvern are born fully developed and with adult bodies. Ixis' total lifespan is 8 years, and she is currently 2 years old.

An unwanted side-effect of the specific animal DNA used in the creation of Ixis resulted in her being born with psychic powers, which emanate from the stone on her forehead. She can speak telepathically and read thoughts, as well as being able to mentally manipulate and control others. This discovery led her creators to attempt to euthanize her, until she escaped from the facility.

Language and Personality
Ixis possesses the same level of intelligence as the average human. When speaking normally, she speaks with a stunted English vocabulary, often mis-pronouncing words or substituting others. When speaking telepathically she speaks textbook English in a largely monotone "voice."

Ixis understands little of societal values, other than what she has been taught. She acts childishly with small periods of composure. She has a relatively short temper. She spends much of her time harvesting information from the minds of others in order to learn, and sometimes copies personality traits from others. She will sometimes question someone on something they've thought or held in memory.

She has a weakness for shiny or glittery objects.

Combat
When attacking, Ixis uses her claws to rake and rams with her horns. She can mentally control her opponent to injure themselves or cause powerful hallucinations to convince her opponent that they can't move, have shrunk to the size of a doll or have even turned to stone, and rob her opponent of basic senses and motor functions, or cause them to become unconscious, however these abilities are extremely flawed and often don't work depending on how well mentally guarded her opponent is.
Ixis is the character of Rebecca McIvor, an artist and fursuiter from Scotland.

Fursonas

Ixis
Ixis stands at 6'4 and weighs 140 lbs. She has long, shaggy royal blue fur, with small, pale blue scales underneath. Her arms end in elongated "fingers" that are webbed to act as wings. Ixis stands at 6'4 and weighs 140 lbs. She has long, shaggy royal blue fur, with small, pale blue scales underneath. Her arms end in elongated "fingers" that are webbed to act as wings. Her horns, bones, claws, teeth and hooves are made from a tough crystal substance that collects sunlight and gently glows. Embedded in her skull is a large oval-shaped gem. She communicates through body language and telepathy as her vocal cords can only produce screetches and growls. She has no tail.

Orla Westie
Orla was Rebecca's second fursona is that of an anthropomorphic West Highland White Terrier. She is described as being the opposate to Ixis; brash, arrogant, snobby and flirty.

She is shown to have a very strong Scottish accent, and has a penchant for strong ales. She dresses in a more feminine manner to Ixis, often showing cleavage or legs. She has a curvy frame, unlike Ixis's slim, fragile body.

Ixis began life in 2005 as the wolf character Thorne, Rebecca's first fursona. After a year, Thorne's species changed to become a dragon, and then, in 2007, an anthropomorphic wyvern. Her name change came in June when the character went under its final revision.

Appearance
Ixis stands at six feet and six inches, and is 108 pounds in weight. Her body is covered in small blue scales, with black headfur. She is cold blooded, but has the mammalian traits of a human female. She has a scorpion-like tail that reaches the ground, and ends in a venomous barb. Each paw consists of three digits, two fingers and a thumb. Her wings are a part of her arms, with a full wingspan of around one metre. She has two small deer-like antlers on her head, and ears with 90 degrees of movement. Finally, she has one blue eye, and one yellow.

Activity
Ixis is part of the Furtopia forum's community, and an beginner on deviantART. She also plays a Druid on World of Warcraft.

WYVERNS DON'T HAVE FUR, YOU IDIOT!
- Who says? - Ixis

THEY ARE SCALY REPTILES LIKE DRAGONS!!!

- Let me give you a quote from the Furry Song.

"If it talks like a person and flies like a bird,
Then it's still a furry even though it sounds absurd.
'Cause even though birds have feathers and not fur,
Mammals are the commonest type of furry in the world
So the word comes from them. Even starting with a fly,
You'll end up with a furry no matter how hard you try."

Understand now? - Ixis
IxisMiramin//en.wikifur.com/wiki/WyvernWyvern2007-10-20T14:21:33Z
IxisMiramin:

The wyvern is a mythological creature frequently found in European lore. The word "wyvern" comes from the Saxon wivere, meaning serpent. This legendary animal is usually defined as a subspecies of dragon, or at least the dragon's close kin. The dragon and the wyvern share many similarities in terms of appearance.

Like the dragon, the wyvern is rendered as a winged reptilian creature. It is distinguished by its possession of only two legs and a single pair of wings. Occasionally, a variant such as the sea-wyvern will possess a fish-like tail. More frequently, however, the wyvern's tail is drawn with a barb or a spade at the tip, which is sometimes considered poisonous. The wyvern may also be illustrated as having the claws of eagles.

Stories about wyverns are rather contradictory. At times it is represented as a smaller species of dragon, and at other times it is defined as a larger dragon breed. In some accounts, they are described to be so large as to prey on elephants and rhinoceroses.

Wyverns are commonly found in medieval heraldry and many institutions still use the wyvern in their heralds, crests, and coats of arms. In this regard, wyverns are seen as symbols of strength, power, and endurance. Examples of these emblems include arms of the Derby Midland railway station, the logo of the Dragon School in Oxford, England, and the arms of the Alpha Chi Sigma Fraternity.

Interestingly, a few cryptozoologists have been known to espouse the theory of wyverns being evidence that animals such as the pterosaurs, winged reptiles which died out about 65 million years ago, may have actually co-existed with human populations, and may in fact still exist today. Unfortunately, there is no evidence to support these claims.

Wyvern in Popular Culture
Wyvern feature in the popular MMORPG World of Warcraft as flying mounts for players. Wyverns also make their appearance in Neil Gaiman's Sandman series, a doorkeeper to Dream's palace is a wyvern.

Wyvern in Furry Culture
The use of the species in the culture is debatable. One could argue that all fursonas with draconic features, sporting two legs and two wings, are Wyvern, or at least based off of Wyvern, though they are often presented as Dragons.
