A fursona (pl. fursonas, sometimes furson; a furspeech portmanteau derived from the terms furry and persona), refers to a (normally furry), character, persona, alter ego, avatar, or identity assumed by a person or player normally associated with the furry fandom.

The fursona itself consists of a name (usually fictitious) and a species, as well as any distinctive colors, markings or body features. An artist's typical commission is a rendition of a fursona.

Historical origin
Unreferenced-section
Dubious
The origins of the fursona concept within the eventual furry fandom is difficult to pin down to specific dates, and it is not known if similar concepts of personal fictional alter-egos exists outside of the furry fandom.

What can be said is that the growing clout of roleplaying gaming (including live-action, tabletop, computer multi-player, etc.) in Western society in the 1970s and 1980s induced the adoption or self-creation of highly-stylized, often genre-specific alter-egos for RP purposes among specific audiences.

As the first large furry parties took place at large science-fiction or multi-genre speculative fiction conventions, such venues often served as meeting places for both RPers and costumers as well as artists and writers, the latter two of whom had often honed their skills in the funny animal art scene's APAs. Thus, when RPers and costumers happened upon the Art Show exhibits for "funny" animal artists, the latter were soon in demand from RPers and costumers for commissioned renditions of their RP or costume characters.

As the customers were often not writers or artists but had envisioned these characters as being more than just under their ownership, detailed specifics for such characters (see "Elements") were often provided by the customers so as to give as much narrative-independent life to such characters as possible.

As a result, when the first furry parties were held, the first costumers and RPers of what would become the furry fandom had already developed the awareness of their favorite RP or costume characters' artistically-rendered exteriors, what they acted like, and in what they were interested or disinterested.

Such characters often did not need to be written into written narratives, but were instead buoyed by being a general-purpose alter-ego for the RPer or costumer. This difference from the traditional idea of the character as being driven by stories of fiction allowed for the "favorite character" or "custom-made character" to be shifted to the "alter-ego", "alternative persona" or "fursona".

The fursona
Depending on the level of personal identification the description of a fursona typically consists of the following elements:

Many fursonas are based on 'typical' animal species, such as cats and wolves, but are often only limited by the imaginations of their player, and can include more extraordinary types of creatures such as aliens, angels, demons, vampires, and mythological creatures (a popular offshoot of mythological creatures is to have a hexapedal, taur-based fursona). Hybrid fursonas are also popular; furries who like characteristics of more than one animal will combine them into one creature, such as a cat/fox or wolf/raccoon cross. Some give these hybrids portmanteau names, such as "drynx" for a dragon/lynx, or "hedgefox" for a hedgehog/fox.

Appearance
A visual, kinesthetic, or textual realization of the player's mental impression of their fursona. The most common form of realization being an illustration or textual description which may be described by the term furry art.

Attire
Since many fursonas have complex fur patterns or other interesting anatomical details, not all fursonas are necessarily clothed or always illustrated with clothing on. As such, there will often be several details about the appearance of a fursona; first, its physical body, and secondly, whatever clothes and accessories are worn over such a body.

Behavior
Depending on personal preference the behavior of a fursona can range from that of a typical human being zoomorphic only in appearance to behavior which is identical to that of the animal represented by the fursona. These general behaviors usually form a framework inside of which a player may mold their character's behavior to their liking. As fursonas are typically a furry representation of the player the fursona often inherits many of the player's character traits.

Fursona history
Fursonas are often used to roleplay or in other story-based mediums, and as such, often have some sort of history, whether it is merely the history of the player behind the fursona, a backstory within a world of another person's design, or a story within a world of the person's own design.

Levels of personal identification
An individual may identify with a particular character in a variety of ways and with varying degrees of closeness.

Avatar
An avatar is typically a character created by a player as an alias. Typically this alias is used by the player as a trademark or symbol of their role playing identity. Hence, players typically do not associate themselves with their avatar outside of that specific realm of experience. A single player typically has many avatars; however, some players may prefer one character over others.

Personal furry
A personal furry is a fursona that a person or player identifies with on an intimate level.

Personal furry vs. avatar
The description of a personal furry typically possesses all the hallmarks of a complete fictional character. This may include the physical description of a furry, the character's beliefs, moods, and temperaments, and all stories that support and expand the understanding of the furry character. Drawings of the character are very common, and personal furries are often used online to role-play with other characters, sometimes with the aid of an avatar.

While a person may play several characters and have several fursonas, the personal furry often has greater significance — it will often be a better representation of the person's "real" personality, if only because they tend to use it more often. Many individuals with a personal furry will primarily use that character to represent themselves online and within the fandom, and may actually go by that character's name as their primary nickname or handle, both on and even offline.

Fursona as a metaphor
A personal furry often reflects elements of their player's real-life appearance or dress, or what they would like to wear and is also referred to a lot as a Fursona. Also, there may be clues within the personal furry as to how that player sees themselves; to have a cat furry may symbolize a thirst for independence, and likewise a fox furry may symbolize perceived wit. Coat/Scale/Feather coloring may also represent the personality of a person; for example a pink coat may represent girlish behavior.

Relationship to other furry concepts/practices
While a personal furry is often seen as a natural fit for lifestylers, it's important to note that ideas such as the furry lifestyle and animal totemism are not intrinsically linked to the concept.

It is generally considered to be in bad taste for others to depict a personal furry (and to a lesser extent, any character) participating in activities such as "yiffing" that they or their player would not normally be involved in.

MikasiWolf is a Singaporean artist and writer. He lives in Singapore with his dog Taro, and his fursona is Zarker, an elite wolf soldier.

History
Mikasi found out about the furry fandom in 2007. In October, 2008, he drew his first anthro character. His preferred media are hard and soft pastels, pencils, acrylic paints, and (since 2012) digital art. He had worked on a comic strip.

Mikasi has been writing since 2007, though his first furry fiction work was only completed in 2010; it tells of the adventures of several apprentices on a journey. He had his first story selected by FurPlanet for the Punked anthology in 2013, and continuously ponders worlds in which anthropomorphics play a major role.

He published the following works.
* “The Future is Yours” in Furplanet’s The Furry Future (2015)
* “Commitment” in VancouFurs 2015 Conbook
* “Fleeting” in What The Fur 2015 Conbook
* “Kenyak’s Conquest” in Anthrocon 2015 Conbook
* “A Leap Forward” in Jaffa Books Claw the Way to Victory (2016)

Interests
Mikasi is interested in anthropomorphic animals and creation myths involving them (e.g. Coyote and Raven). He enjoys talking about writing and art, the latter of which is now seconded to wordcraft.

Mikasi's favorite animals are wolves, badgers and otters.

Bad Dog Books and FurRag
In 2005, his frustration at the death of furry fiction periodicals of significance led him to found a publishing operation and its flagship product, the periodical erotic furry fiction anthology FANG, and later that year, with the aid of a friend, set up a furry fiction archive intended as a more general-purpose counterpart to Yiffstar. Yiffstar's admin Toumal provided some coding assistance. Since then he has been involved in Yiffstar's transition to SoFurry, most recently designing the new interface for SoFurry 2.0 dubbed "Espresso".

RSI
In early 2006, he began suffering from repetitive strain injury, causing him pain in his fingers which required him to substantially moderate his typing. He announced his intention to put FANG on indefinite hiatus in order to let his fingers heal. With the help of Ben Goodridge, he founded Bad Dog Books in July 2006 and resumed development of FANG, which also made its publishing services available to third-party authors interested in bringing their works to print.

Bibliography
Until the deterioration of his fingers, Alex was an avid writer. Between 2004 and 2005, he wrote nineteen chapters of a serial story called Maranatha, totalling nearly two hundred thousand words. Besides occasionally contributing stories of his own to FANG, his fiction has appeared in Magazine issues 9 & 10 and Heat volume 4 from Sofawolf Press. His new graphic novel Heathen City, illustrated by Ayato, Distasty, Krahnos, Charha and Fel, was released on June 26 2008, with the subsequent issues released annually thereafter.

Anthronauts is a sci-fi/action-adventure/comedy webcomic that was created, written and drawn by Nixie.
A new strip was published each week on The Katbox.
Originally created as part of an April Fools Day prank in 2010, Anthronauts was launched as a regular comic later that summer. The storyline follows the crew and passengers of the S. S. Bubbles, a charter spaceship that appears in the comic's logo.

By the summer of 2013, Nixie had become dissatisfied with the direction the comic was going in and announced a reboot in June. The new version began in July.

In April 2016, it was announced that the comic will no longer be updated due to lack of free time.

History
The Katbox holds a sitewide April Fools prank every year, and in 2010 the joke was that the site - which had three comics at the time - had abruptly taken on 11 more. As part of the joke, almost all of the new comics were cancelled within the day. Although it was one of the comics listed as "cancelled," Anthronauts was one of two new comics (iMew being the other) to actually continue.

Although Nixie would later say the series was meant to be a comedy, it was dominated early on by dark themes, such as Rexley's doomed marriage to Cheng's sister Meilin, and Boris' secret past. In June of 2013, dissatisfied with the series' tone, Nixie asked the Katbox forumites how they would feel about a reboot, and decided to go for it.

At the time of its conclusion, the original version of Anthronauts had 113 pages, all of which are still available on the comic's site page. This version of Anthronauts is now called Anthronauts: Alternate Reality.

Plot
Both versions of the story follow the adventures of Perrin Rexley (a fox) and Mandy Cheng (panda), respectively the pilot and captain of a small spaceship for hire, and their current client, Sir Boris Wimble (chinchilla), a mad scientist. In the rebooted version, the Bubbles is a much larger ship with additional crew, and Boris' cloned daughter Caroline (lynx) is a co-passenger.

The main cast are Pelzarians, citizens of Pelzar Tiges (shorted to "Pelzar" for the reboot). They are anthropomorphic animals who are shorter than humans. The original series showed Pelzarian technology to be lagging severely behind that of humans, and to be largely steampunk in nature. The reboot has emphasized this less.

spoiler
Original series
The original series narrative grew directly out of Nixie's April Fools comic. After Rexley, the pilot, eats the last of the food on the ship, Captain Cheng apologizes to Sir Boris and the trio stop to look for food on a nearby planet, Xenophobix 4. The three of them go for a walk, and Rexley agrees to carry a heavy bag that Boris brought with him. The bag purportedly contains "a F'glorbian squid corpse," but the squid is actually alive.

The Pelzarians (and squid) have a shootout with the Xenophobes, a race that resembles Amish insects, and escape back into space with no food. While on the ship, Captain Cheng is horrified to discover that Rexley has drunk the last of the ship's water, which is also the fuel. The ship runs out of power and the three of them retire for the night.

Boris appeals to Captain Cheng to have Rexley thrown into space for his cavalier attitude. Cheng tells Boris that Rexley is her brother in law and will not harm him. Boris, enraged by the crew, partially shapeshifts into a reptile and claws Rexley's door. Meanwhile, Rexly has a flashback dream of his honeymoon with Meilin Cheng, Captain Mandy Cheng's sister. Meilin died while she and Rexley were fighting space pirates, led by the ruthless Vom Korat, a five-eyed space vulture. Rexley awakes from the nightmare crying.

The ship continues its unpowered run to a Terran fueling station, but is intercepted by Captain Bob (human), of the S.S. Bob, who misidentifies the Bubbles as hostile and captures it. After being held for a time, and all made to wear metal bikinis identical to the one Princess Leia wears in Return of the Jedi, they escape after Boris fully shape-shifts and eats a crewmember, allowing them to get back to the ship, which has just enough fuel to be restarted.

They crash-land at the fueling station, enraging mechanic Parvani (a three-eyed naga) until they present her with treasure and ask for repairs. They end up fleeing the station after a short stay because Vom Korat has found them. Taking Parvani with him, he gives chase.

Back on the ship, Calimary covertly steals some of Boris' chemicals and uses them to regain her true, humanoid form. She brutally murders Boris - the page in which she does so was later established as a guideline by Katbox founder SoulKat as the maximum amount of gore he would allow on the site - and seduces Rexley. Captain Cheng finds them after the fact and throws Mary out the airlock in a fit of rage.

Boris manages to come back to life after his body reassembles. He explains that he and Calimary are both members of a little-known alien race called Alpha Draconians, a night-unkillable species whose life cycle involves destroying the biosphere of the occupied planet. He details his personal history, explaining how he was raised to believe he was a Pelzarian but stopped aging when he was 10. While doing research on himself with his cloned daughter, Caroline, he accidentally murders Caroline after she cuts his head off as part of the experiment.

Vom Korat catches up with the Bubbles and the two ships battle. They crash-land on a nearby water planet, and the narrative follows flashbacks in Captain Cheng's mind, which follow her extremely unhappy teenage years. She competes with Meilin for Rexley's affection, loses, and ends up sent to a home for disturbed girls after Meilin pulls a retribution prank on her that makes her look as if she had gone crazy.

At this point, Nixie openly declared on the forums that she felt the story had strayed too far from its comedic intentions. The original series' final page showed Nixie playing a tabletop role-playing game with Boris, Cheng and Rexley. Cheng quits the game, saying that Nixie is bullying their characters, a sentiment backed by the others. Boris points out that the nature of Alpha Draconians makes them effectively impossible to kill. In frustration, Nixie yells that all of them have slipped on a bar of soap and died. Boris tries to tell her this wouldn't kill an Alpha Draconian, but she cuts him off, yelling that it's a racial weakness .

The reboot was announced at the bottom of this page.

Reboot
The introductory phase of the new comic was shown from the point of view of Caroline Wimble, Boris' daughter, the clone of a famous dead scientist. In the original story, Boris killed her when an experiment went wrong and he shapeshifted. In the reboot, as in the original, she is his lab assistant. The first story arc follows her as she attempts to find food for Boris after he shape-shifts following an experimental amputation to test his regenerative abilities.

Cast
For the reboot, most of the cast members were redesigned, to varying extents, both in appearance and personality. Because the reboot is still fairly new, it is not always clear what information from the original series is and isn't still canon.

Captain Mandala "Mandy" Lien-hua Cheng. A Pelzarian panda with a generally good disposition and a love of tea. Meilin - Cheng's sister and Rexley's wife - was removed from canon history for the reboot, as Nixie felt her presence made things too depressing.

Perrin Corley Rexley, night pilot. A gruff and conflicted loner in the original series, his personality in the reboot was lightened somewhat and he identifies himself as a "former pirate." In the original series, he was taken prisoner by pirates and joined them, but no elaboration has yet been given in the reboot. Reboot Rexley also has a rather thick accent original Rexley did not.

A running joke in the original Anthronauts was that wearing a red shirt meant certain death, as a nod to the redshirts of original Star Trek. Rexley's main color, pre-reboot, was red, and he indeed wore a red shirt (although in the earliest comics he wore a red waistcoat over a black shirt, a color scheme that was later reversed). Although a number of other characters in red died, he never did, and continually insisted that there was no such thing as a red shirt curse (although Boris and Cheng disagreed, as he would often narrowly escape death). In the reboot, his color is brown.

Sir Boris Dale Wimble, passenger. In the original series, Boris had managed to work out some details about his mysterious origins and had run into another of his kind, Calimary, who he was trying to control. In the reboot, Boris is still a chartering passenger on the Bubbles, but is no longer attempting to conceal his identity (though he knows less than in the original story). He simply represents himself (through his clone daughter, Caroline) as an unknown species, since even he doesn't know what he is. In the original series, his fur started off gray, but eventually became tan. He remains tan in the reboot.

The nature of Boris' "true" form is roughly the same in both versions of the story: He is a reptilian being who can shape-shift, and can regenerate lost limbs almost immediately. The regeneration takes a great amount of energy. In the reboot, if he lacks immediate access to food, Boris will shape-shift and go on a hunger rampage (his regeneration behavior in the original story was varied). In the first arc of the reboot, he attempts to eat Caroline (who escapes), and she later remarks to herself that "The last time we ran out of foot, it was awful. Boris ate all the neighbors!"

Parvani Na'in Pinar Naratavi, mechanic. Parvani, who had been a space station mechanic in the original story, became the ship's onboard mechanic in the reboot. She now lives in the engine room, which takes the form of an indoor forest with hot springs. Staight-laced in the original comic, Parvani is now a "semi-psychic" mystic who is a member of the cult of Odram. She tries to get Caroline to join, promising feasts and orgies, but Caroline is disturbed and uninterested. Parvani is a three-eyed, four-armed naga who was originally a solid, deep purple, which Nixie lightened in the reboot for aesthetic reasons.

Caroline Rosalind Wimble, lab assistant. Caroline is genetically a Pelzarian and not directly related to Boris. He cloned her from "a great scientist of the past," and raised her as his daughter. Caroline appeared on a single page in the original Anthronauts, a flashback wherein Boris describes accidentally killing her. In the reboot, she is still alive and is his lab assistant.

In both versions of the story, she is totally unfazed by gore and amputates parts of Boris to study his self-regenerating alien anatomy. Caroline also appears in another Nixie comic, Fungus Farm, which shares a continuity with the original version of Anthronauts.

Mary, originally Calimary, night pilot (reboot only). In the original version of the story, Calimary, like Boris, was an Alpha Draconian; he had sealed her into the form of a squid and erased her memory after an experiment went wrong. This was changed for the reboot, and she is simply an intelligent squid.

Johan Wyman Kissefello, security officer. The sole completely new member of the crew, Johan is a unicorn who has the ability to sense virgins, and declares that chastity is his favorite virtue. He is followed everywhere he goes by flower petals and sparkles.

Johan inherited the red shirt joke in the reboot and was murdered less than half a year into the reboot. However, he was quickly brought back to life, only to die (and again be revived) in the reboot's second year. Although his injuries can be permanent, death itself does not seem to convey any lasting damage. So far, the connection between a red shirt and probability of death has not been made overt in the new Anthronauts.

Of Mice and Mayhem
Of Mice and Mayhem is a graphic novel set sometime after the end of the Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers series. The story starts with the flashback of a botched Rescue Rangers’ raid on a Norton Nimnul’s laboratory and its immediate aftermath. After several months, Chip becomes separated from the group during another raid on a government laboratory, whereupon he discovers an apparent conspiracy, which, while resolving one of the issues for the Rangers, sets a new challenge on its own.

Of Mice and Mayhem proved to be popular with the fandom and won 16 Golden Acorn Awards in the year it was published, followed by several “all-time best” ones in the latter years, until such nominations were discontinued ca. 2008. The novel set precedent for the one-shot character of Tammy to become a nurse, and inspired several works set in its continuity, including a series of short stories by Neal Wolf, and the novels Of Mice Beyond Mayhem by Gyrotank (2011) and Ammunition for the Winter by Draco Lockhard (2012).

Ivan Shmakov: /* Chip and Dale */ Commented upon.

Welcome

Chip and Dale
Greetz, Ivan. I unlinked the name Chip and Dale and left it as a future (red) link for the creation of an article for the characters only (see Bugs Bunny), with the reference of the show added later on on that article later on (I'm about to upload some images to this article).

You did not do anything wrong, by the way, with your good faith edit. Normally we create the article for the character(s) first (but it's not necessary to follow this order), then attach/mentioned any show they appeared on on their article (with Bugs Bunny it will be Merry Melodies, SpaceJam and The Looney Tunes Show). Just FYI. =) - Spirou (talk) 23:40, 16 November 2014 (EST)

: JFTR, – Wikipedia uses Chip n Dale for the name of the duo. I guess that’s the name used in the sources, and I see no reason for WikiFur to deviate from that. Ivan Shmakov (talk) 23:54, 16 November 2014 (EST)

How come you do not let me edit my own page and keep reverting it? Ive been trying to keep it blank until i have the info written properly, I'm sorry if that i upset you, but you have all the wrong information on this site. Maxwell Rodgers IS NOT a person, HE IS MY FURSONA. I have not and will not give you my real name. Please let me edit or tell me how to make so you understand that Maxwell Rodgers is my FURSONA, I don't know where to put it. :Within the fandom, it is normal for people to refer to themselves as their fursonas, but if this is the case, I'm sure we would be glad to correct the article. However, bear in mind that this is not "your own page". It is "our page about your character". While you may own copyright on, say, a story which you wrote about your character, you do not own the right to control factual descriptions of your character by others, just as anyone may write a Wikipedia article about Harry Potter. We will seek to write the best article that we can with the details publicly available. --GreenReaper(talk) 17:14, 18 June 2014 (EDT)

Recent Draco Lockhard change
A couple of questions regarding the recent change to the article. First of all, I believe there is considerable semantic difference between http://drakia.com/ – which is a URI designating a Web page (or Web site), and Drakia.com – which is a DNS name, not necessarily related to the World Wide Web at all. (Say, it may designate a mail-only domain, or a Kerberos realm, etc.) Is it really necessary to replace the former with the latter (in the link text)?

Also, I wonder if youtu.be/rlVmr38v5IY – an interview Draco Lockhard gave to the short-lived Georgian “First Caucasian” TV channel back in 2010 – could be cited to support the <q >best known for his fantasy and science fiction works involving dragons</q> claim?

TIA.

You can jump right into the chat on your web browser, or install a specialized chat program called an IRC client. These are available for a variety of platforms.

Web client
*WikiFur has a web-based IRC client (if you're not logged in, or it doesn't work, use the next one)
*Freenode has a web chat client that lets you join the chat room from a normal web page.
*Your web browser may be preconfigured to open IRC links in an IRC client; try clicking [irc://chat.freenode.net/wikifur this link]
*:(If that didn't work, Firefox users will want to install the ChatZilla extension.)

Windows
*mIRC is the classic Windows IRC client. Main drawbacks of mIRC are the fact that it's not free and that the configuration options are waaay more extensive than a lot of users are used to.
*Trillian handles IRC. It's a little complicated to set up, but if you don't want to use the very easy CGI:IRC linked by Angela, then Trillian is a handy program to have anyway for the other things it does.
*Miranda IM - a multi-client, like Trillian, but rather minimalist and open source.
*HydraIRC - A free newcomer to the Windows IRC client scene.
*XChat-WDK - Free XChat for Windows.

Linux
*Irssi is a CLI client that's plain, simple, and very extensible with scripts. The learning curve is a little steep, but once you learn to use it, it's very intuitive.
*Finch is the command line version of Pidgin, listed below. Trust me, you don't want to use this one.
*WeeChat is another CLI client. Simple, highly extensible with perl, python, tcl, etc.
*LimeChat is a basic IRC client that is free.

Mac
*Snak handles IRC rather nicely, and is one of the few Mac-only clients that still work flawlessly.
*Colloquy is stable and has many features like tabbed windows, buddy list, etc.
*IRCLe (shareware) is scriptable with AppleScript, can support multiple channels and servers, and up to ten distinct connections at once.
*Adium, based on libpurple, now supports IRC with multiple channels and servers.

Crossplatform
*KVIrc - Free, portable IRC client available on Mac, Linux, and Windows.
*X-Chat is perhaps the most well-known IRC client for Linux, included into nearly every distribution, which has recently grown in popularity on Windows as well. Note that the official Windows version (as opposed to Linux) is shareware, but unofficial free Windows builds are available, for example, here.
*Babbel - small and easy to use with good functionality
*Quassel is included with Kubuntu 9.04. Probably works with Windows and Mac OS X too - be sure to download both the "client" and the "core".

Of course, Wikipedia has a list of IRC clients that might be more complete, or not...

Setup instructions
To log in, you need to configure your client. After you log in, it is rather straightforward. The parameters are:

*Server: chat.freenode.net
*Channel: #wikifur

Most IRC clients, such as mIRC, Miranda, Trillian, and X-Chat, have "Freenode" in the default network list, you only need to select it. After you are connected to the server, type /join #wikifur in the reply box and press Enter.

Chipmunks are small burrowing rodents of the genus Tamias, which is part of the squirrel family native to North America and significant parts of Asia. They are easily recognized by the five longitudinal stripes on their backs, and cheek pouches in which they use to transport food back to their burrows.

Etymology and taxonomy
Tamias (greek word meaning storer) refers to the natural behavior of collecting and storing food larders for the winter. There are twenty-five recognized species of chipmunk including one specie Tamias Striatus in north America, T. Sibericus in north eastern Asia, and the rest in western North America. It is widely assumed that chipmunks received their name due to there distinctive "chip" chip" calls. In fact, its an Anglicized curruption of Native American word from the Odawa tribes meaning "red squirrel". It was labeled by early White Settlers as adjidaumo or sometimes as achitamon. When the vocabulary of Chippewa words was drawn up by John Long in 1791, that tribe's word for squirrel was rendered as chetamon. This forms the bases from which the modern word Chipmunk evolves from by way of chitmunk. Chipmunks are also refereed to as "chippers", "munks", "timber tigers", or "ground squirrel". Though the name "ground squirrel" usually refers to members of the genus Spermophilus. Tamias and Spermophilus are only two of the 13 genera of ground-living sciurids.

Diet
An an omnivorous specie, the diet of chipmunks consists of nuts, seeds, fruits, fungi, and insects. Chipmunks will even eat birds eggs, snails, and in rare occasions other small mammals such as young mice.

Habitat
Chipmunks can usually can be found in various temperate forest habitats of North America and North Eastern Asia where the mainstay of their diet of nuts and seeds can be found. The stripes on their backs blends them in with the dappled sunlight of the forest camouflaging them from the preying eyes of predators. Some species of chipmunk such as the Alpine Chipmunk T. Alpinus can live in alpine regions. A few such Cliff Chipmunk T. Doraslis live in semi-arid climates.

Natural behavior
Chipmunks by nature are solitary creatures each defending a territory of an acre or two in area. Eastern Chipmunks will mate once in the spring and those in milder climates will do so again in mid summer. Other species of chipmunks will mate in spring only. Chipmunks will produce a litter of up to four offspring. Yong chipmunks will emerge from the mother's burrow in six weeks and go out on their own two week after. In fall many species of chipmunks will stockpile a cache of food in there burrows which they live off of during the winter.

In popular culture
Some well known chipmunk characters from popular culture include Alvin and the Chipmunks, and Disney's Chip and Dale from Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers. An example of a chipmunk character in furry fandom is Dexter Fox's fursuit character Bouncer the Chipmunk.

: <small >Taken from User talk:Spirou#Recent Draco Lockhard change; see Special:Diff/439237.</small>

Just to clarify my recent edit, – I believe there is considerable semantic difference between http://drakia.com/ – which is a URI designating a Web page (or Web site), and Drakia.com – which is a DNS name, not necessarily related to the World Wide Web at all. (Say, it may designate a mail-only domain, or a Kerberos realm, etc.) So, I hope it isn’t really necessary to use the latter in preference to the former in the link text.
