== Structure ==

Futerkon is considered to be the Polish national furry convention, replacing [[Futrzakon]], with attendees hailing from all the country's regions, and occasionally foreign visitors. It differs from its predecessor not only in name, but also by the way in which the events are prepared for the attendees. The revised structure of the convention concentrates on involving the attendees with one another, in order for them to interact and meet new people, while still allowing for everyone to spend time among their own friends. The scheduled events take second priority to the integration activities, yet without the exclusion of regular con-time functions such as competitions, tournaments, discussion panels and various workshops pertaining to the convention's theme.

The convention's hosts encourage the attendees to take the time spent at the convention to enjoy themselves, take a break from regular life and get to know new people. The latter is achieved by the large bonfire meet & greet event that is characteristic to Futerkon, followed by a dance. Each year, the convention takes upon a new theme, officially incited from the bonfire onwards (this is considered the opening ceremony), continuing until the 'ending' on the final day of the convention. However, unlike many other conventions that are themed, the scheduled events are heavily influenced by the theme; and, uniquely - Futerkon's events schedule portrays a premeditated story-line, with each day in the schedule being set to follow a theme-related plot. It has a narrative with continuity that reaches an ultimate conclusion by the time the closing ceremony takes place on the final day, also in the form of a bonfire night.

Futerkon's organization and administration is run by an independent group, that is not affiliated with any one of the Polish online furry discussion forums in particular. As such, all information pertaining to the convention can only be obtained directly from its website.

== Trivia ==
* The new name and layout of the convention came from suggestions provided by Futrzakon 2011's attendees' feedback surveys. Thanks to the information obtained, the organizers came to the conclusion that the way Futrzakon was being run differed so greatly from the attendees' expectations, that the plans which evolved from analyzing the feedback gave way to the decision to create Futerkon as an entirely new project from the ground up.
* Each annual 'episode' of the convention is to have its own individual website, on which it will be possible to familiarize oneself with a precursor to the plot and theme, the team's mission and charitable dedications for each year of the convention, statistics pertaining to each issue of the con, and an archive of previous editions. The website will also serve as an announcement board supplying information pertaining to current con-related events and future projects organized by the team.

In 2004 the current website was established and set in motion by Neonus, with design based on the previous webpage made by Stargazer. After this change the webpage accumulated many more features, which attracted more people from [[wikipedia:Poland|Poland]] to join in order to either learn what furry is, or just meet the rest of the Polish furry community. In mid-2007 DarkV took over the Polfurs webdesign, renovating the look of the site and adding many functional changes.

==Form==
Furstock escapes from the classical nature of conventions with its laid back, unorganised character. It is a meeting in the form of a campsite, without registration, fees, a programme of events or defined organisers. The convention takes place on the terrain of the music festival and its participants are also participants of the music festival itself, and take advantage of its facilities such as running water, medical huts, 'woodstock trains' and fast-food stands - and also take part in the parties and attractions taking place as part of the music festival.

Traditionally, Furstock takes place under the [[PolFurs.org|Polfurs]] flag. The tents of the participants are arranged in a circle, creating a mini colony in the centre of which which the tenants take part in various invented 'ad-hoc' attractions and games. Despite the lack of an official events programme, many events typical of conventions take place - drawing workshops, RPG game sessions, themed group discussions, shows - such as poi-poi juggling, use of Nunchuks, but also some completely spontaneous things such as group howling to the moon, 1001 jokes in the manner of "Your mom so...", or a discussion on the topic of "Religion and Anthropomorphism" with a Catholic priest invited from the [http://www.przystanekjezus.pl Przystanek Jezus] group.

'''Futrzakon''' is the first full-scale furry [[convention]] organized in [[Wikipedia:Poland|Poland]]. Plans to hold this convention were made for a considerable amount of time until the first edition of the con took place in the fall of 2008. The name of the con quite simply derives from the polish words for [[Furry]] (Futrzak) and [[Convention]] (Konwent). The convention was organized in conjunction with heavy support from the [[polfurs.org]] web service, which provided site coding, publicity and hosting.

==Futrzakon 2008==
The initial edition of the convention took place from the 26th to the 28th of September in a place called [http://www.dzierzazna.pl/ Dzierżązna] (in Polish), close to the city of [[Wikipedia:Łódź|Łódź]] in Poland. There were 37 attendees to the convention, all Polish nationals. Included in the con agenda were events such as a large bonfire, a moviemaking workshop, an art competition, LARPs, RPG sessions, a volleyball tournament and many others.

During the second evening of the convention, a charity auction took place to raise money for the WWF's "Save the
European Lynx" fund. Congoers were to bring furry-related items from home that they could afford to part with and
put them up for sale. The winning pieces of the art competition were also sold, alongside some commission slots from artists. The auction raised 1380 PLN in total (approx. $430 USD or £280 GBP) and was donated for pixels on the [http://www.wwfpixels.org/pixels/index/5784/www.polfurs.org.html Support the Lynx: Buy a Pixel] website.

The main organizers of the convention were [[Ryan]] and [[Kudłaty]]. The t-shirts and other technical support was provided by [[Leniwiec]]. Various events on the agenda were prepared by [[Cubey]], [[Edi]], [[Q-nik]], [[Garou_(person)]], [[LV]] and [[Solon]].

==Futrzakon 2009==
The second edition will take place from 13th to 16th of August 2009, at the same venue as the previous convention. One notable opinion of the attendees from the first edition was that it was too short, so an extra day has been added.

As of March 10th 2009, all available reservation places at the convention site were taken, counting at least 50 prospective attendees (not including visiting con-goers who will be attending only during the day and staying elsewhere).

Prior to the actual convention taking place, some criticism has already arisen due to the limit of available places and the underestimation of public interest. It is the only furry convention organised in Poland at present, catering to a population of several hundred (active users on [http://www.polfurs.org Polfurs.org]), who are mostly unwilling or unable to travel abroad to other conventions in Europe. Subsequently, the second edition of the convention has not grown enough to accommodate the amount of furries willing to participate. The third edition of Futrzakon will attempt to remedy this by changing the venue to a larger one.

The tents of the participants are arranged in a circle, creating a mini colony in the centre of which which the tenants take part in various invented 'ad-hoc' attractions and games.
