Singapore Furs is a community of furries in Singapore, an island nation of just 710.2 sq km (274.2 sq mi). The group was founded around December 2004, although the community has informal roots before the period. The community keeps in touch with its regional neighbours as a branch of AnthroAsia as well as furry conventions within the South East and East Asian regions, serving as a convenient furry regional hub. As of 2015, the SGFurs is headed by a committee of 5 group admins.

Furmeets & Fursuiting
Furmeets are organised on an ad hoc basis due to the easy travel within the country. On average, attendance on larger events are approximately fifty per meet.

One of the primary reasons for furmeets is for fellow SGFurs monthly birthday celebrations. Examples of activities during birthday celebrations include bowling, fursuiting during Halloween.

The SGFurs Community have an annual chalet meet, which started in 2010, to provide space that caters to the varied interests within the community, and provide a platform for members to contribute their time and talent.

Other examples of local meets include fursuiting during local cosplay events and playing board games. Smaller local meets situated in downtown Singapore usually happen over food, and usually end of the night with plenty of walking.

Furmeets also happen when the SGFurs play host to visiting furs from overseas. Furmeets of this nature may involve touring around the city-state, or having a meal over the wide variety of local food. To date, the SGFurs have hosted furs from USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Norway, Germany, UAE, South Africa, Japan, Hong Kong and other ASEAN countries.

Unlike furmeets in Western countries, fursuiting during meets held in public locations are rare due to the complex logistics. Furthermore, the tropical nature of Singapore makes it extremely challenging for fursuiters to suit at length, restricting their activities to mainly indoor air-conditioned spaces. The later would also requires consent of mall management which are difficult to obtain.

Fursuits
There are currently 10 fursuiters present in Singapore. They are, grouped by species:

* An orange fox Vee
* Three black dragons DarkLurker, Nightdragon and Atromitos (played by Mari)
* A purple dragon Alexia
* An eastern dragon Qing Long (played by DarkLurker)
* A housecat Mik (played by sMyle)
* A grey wolf partial Wulfe
* A green fox partial Micky
* A quad suit Rygar of the Wind from Monster Rancher

Vee and DarkLurker made their debut during Halloween 2009 celebrations in Woodlands. Mik's public debut was made during COSMO 2010 Mascot Parade. Micky's public debut was during Halloween 2011.

Two previous cosplay fursuits, a Renamon and a Flamedramon have been retired in 2011. Renamon was brought out of retirement for Chingay 2012 celebrations. An older version of Vee's fox suit has also been since retired.

For Halloween 2010 celebrations held in conjuction with members from AnthroAsia as part of 3AM (AnthroAsia Annual Meet), a Malaysian fursuiter by the name of CTWolf came down to join the event.

Furmeets
Furmeets can be organised on an ad hoc basis due to the small nature of the country. One of the primary reasons for furmeets are when fellow SGFurs celebrate their birthday. On average, every furmeet has approximately a dozen or so present per meet. Local meets usually happen over food, and usually end of the night with plenty of walk about.

Furmeets also happen when the SGFurs play host to visiting furs from overseas. Furmeets of this nature may involve touring around the city-state, or having a meal over the wide variety of local food. To date, the SGFurs have hosted furs from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and other ASEAN countries.

Unlike furmeets in Western countries, fursuiting at furmeets is rare due to the complex logistics involved as well as the strict security that shopping malls have adopted. Furthermore, the tropical nature of Singapore makes it extremely challenging for fursuiters to suit at length, restricting their activities to mainly indoor air-conditioned spaces.

Furmeets are held on occasion and can be organized ad hoc due to the small nature of the country and its effective public transport system. On average, there is a furmeet every month with about a dozen or so present per meet. A common occurrence of local meets is plenty of walking between venues, as there is little need for private transportation.

We are also a community that loves to host visiting furs from overseas by bringing them around the country, and have hosted furs from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and other ASEAN countries. ==Furmeets==

Do drop by AnthroAsia if you're stopping by!

Birthdays
The local furry community celebrates the birthday of every local and visiting fur with a party, which often ends in the end with a friendly pie splat, with a variety of pies and pie toppings varying from birthday to birthday.

This tradition was started in 2008 by an Espeon. In the recent months, the pie has been replaced by a variety of other unusual foodstuffs. Your face may be saved, but not your tongue!

Community
For Halloween 2010 celebrations held in conjuction with members from AnthroAsia as part of 3AM (AnthroAsia Annual Meet), a Malaysian fursuiter by the name of CTWolf came down to join the event.

Furmeets
Furmeets are held on occasion and can be organized ad hoc due to the small nature of the country and its effective public transport system. On average, there is a furmeet every month with about a dozen or so present per meet. A common occurrence of local meets is plenty of walking between venues, as there is little need for private transportation.

We are also a community that loves to host visiting furs from overseas by bringing them around the country, and have hosted furs from USA, UK, Canada, Australia and other ASEAN countries.
