SPark (Utah)

2007-06-13T10:07:34Z

Gavin Gator:

SPark is a professional fursuit creator and artist.

Biography
S. Park, or SPark as she prefers to be called, was born in Utah in 1978, but her parents had moved six times by the time she was eight years old, and have kept roaming since, so she's lived in dozens of different places in the western United States.

As a child, her greatest ambition was to be an artist, though she went through a brief phase of wanting to sell insurance, because her Dad did it, and "anything Dad does is pretty cool when you're eight". She realized that insurance wasn't what she had thought of it to be and pursued art instead. After many years of practice, and a great many classes, she decided she was good enough to try and make money at art. That lasted about a year before she realized she did not enjoy doing commissions, and instead attempted to pursue a degree in Education, so she could teach art.

As she began college, she encountered the Internet, and quickly gravitated to the dragon community, and from there learned about such things as Otherkin and Furries. Having long pictured herself as a Dragon, and having been fascinated with animals her entire life, she joined into the draconic and furry communities with enthusaism, and developed several different personas, both furry and non-furry.

SPark is an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also called the "Mormon" church, and took a break from school and her artwork to serve as a missionary in Ireland, from 2000 to 2001. Her faith is an important part of her life, but she seldom discusses it in public forums, regarding religious matters as personal.

In December of 2003, her then boyfriend, who wasn't himself furry, but who was very accepting of her furry lifestyle, decided to buy her a tail for Christmas, so she could "be" one of her fursonas. This proved to be a massive turning point. Not because the tail was good, but because it was, in fact, all wrong. The wrong shape, the wrong color, the wrong markings. She decided that surely she could do better herself, and set out to find fabrics and learn how to sew. A few months later her first very simple
partial fursuit debuted at the local science fiction convention, where it was a hit with furries and geeks alike.

Soon she was working an another, more ambitious personal fursuit, and less than a year later began taking commissions.

Art and fursuits
SPark is now a full-time fursuit creator, with a steadily growing portfolio of suits. She currently lives in Oregon, with her furry boyfriend. She has a number of fursonas, and is known online by several different names, including Bladespark, FlameSong Firedancer, Serapha Rhiannon, Aidan Rhiannon, and YinWolf.

SPark has long loved drawing both fantasy and furry subjects, starting off with a childhood obsession with horses, and moving on to her current and continuing obsession with dragons and dragon hybrids. She no longer accepts art commissions, but draws merely for the love of drawing. She has also done a fair amount of 3-d work including sculpture and ceramics, and has studied art at Weber State University in Utah for three years.

She carries those skills and interests over into her fursuit making work. She's quite happy to make the usual foxes, cats, and wolves, but is happiest when she can make a strange hybrid or invented creature.

Life goals, work and interests
In recent months, SPark has withdrawn from some areas of the furry community, wishing to avoid drama and intolerance, and mostly concentrates on her fursuit making. She can usually be found these days lurking on fursuiting message boards, just waiting for the chance to share some of her ideas and techniques. Her philosophy is that anybody who's good enough to take her techniques and compete with her would end up competing anyhow, so she happily fosters up and coming fursuit makers.

She maintains a fursuit making forum, dedicated to the open sharing of methods and ideas for fursuit making.

SciuCaro

2007-06-13T10:04:23Z

Gavin Gator:

Cleanup

SciuCaro (born May 24, 1987) is the Internet alias for "Santo Ciaravino", a New York furry with Italian background. He has been a member of the Furry Fandom since 2002, and still going, claiming he has felt 'animal' beforehand and he loves it.

The name 'SciuCaro' comes from the genus and species of his primary fursona, an "Eastern Gray Squirrel" (Sciurus Carolinensis).

SciuCaro's hobbies include Cartooning, Writing, Programming, Music Composing, and Game Design. He started Cartooning at the end of 2002 learning with Macromedia Flash MX. He began writing after being inspired by the movie, Duplex. He learned how to program in Python thanks to an online Furry friend of his. He wanted to make music and bought a copy of eJay. He wanted to delve into Game Design and started in March 2006 after acknowledging his mind for making current games better, or making games on his own.

Fursonas
SciuCaro has 14 fursonas, but only two are his most prominent, his Squirrel and Polar Bear fursonas.

Here is a list of his fursonas and what they represent to him:
# Eastern Gray Squirrel - His free spirit and that he's nuts in general (His primary fursona)
# Polar Bear - His animal spirit prior to finding the Furry Fandom (His secondary fursona)
# Scorpion - His favorite bug
# Bald Eagle - His patriotism for America
# Frog - His simple fascination
# Penguin - His love for (Ant)arctic regions
# Dog (Particularly Shih Tzu) - In honorary & loving memory of his family dog
# Cat - He loves cats
# Ant - He used to play with Ants
# Bee - His appreciation for Spring season
# Fox - His part in the Furry Fandom
# Mouse - He likes cheese
# Rabbit - His Chinese Zodiac
# Raccoon - His knack for salvaging garbage

Finding the Fandom
SciuCaro was what is known as a latent furry, those who have the whole animal influence in them, but have not heard of the Furry Fandom yet.

Ever since childhood, he was fascinated with animals. He felt the Polar Bear was his totem, he played games with people involving animals, he roleplayed himself as animals, he read info on animals, and of course like any other Furry, enjoyed what the media had to offer, from Disney to WB.

In 2002, he found the infamous MTV episode of Sex2K that described the raunchy nature of the Furry Fandom. While other Furries were disgusted and disliked MTV's episode, SciuCaro was fascinated and did more research on it. After gaining a much better hold of what Furry was about, pretty much relating his experiences to that of other Furries, he then affirmed membership.

As Founder of Furry Nationalism
In mid-2005, SciuCaro was inspired to give the fandom a 'national spirit', to make the Furry fandom a distinct culture and give it the feel of a "Furry Nation", to bring the people together as a union of many, and do interesting and fun things, such as making a Furry Anthem, a Furry Flag, Furry Foods, etc. It even went as far as seeing each species as a 'state' in the 'union', with their own cultural and personality identity.

He tried to give it a start with the LiveJournal community, Nationalist Furries, but it has since been on a hiatus after a 9-day flamewar of resentments from other Furries. After a while, he felt it was prominent that the Furry Fandom was developing on its own and didn't need the boost of getting the feel of a nation, and decided to keep the 'idea' as a personal trend of his own and whoever else wished to take it that way.

Chibi

2007-06-13T10:00:11Z

Gavin Gator:

unreferenced
Chibi (pronounced chee-bee) is a slangword used in anime and manga to describe a style of drawing a character in a highly stylized way, with stubby bodies that are about the same size as the head. It can also be used as a modifier to describe a child version of a character.

Chibi is typically used in artwork to emphasize super-cuteness. To do this, detailed anatomy such as fingers are eliminated, so that their hands closely resemble those of the Powerpuff Girls or look as if they are wearing mittens. When they do have fingers, they are often shaped like baby hands. Chibi also generally do not often have feet, instead having v-shaped "nubs" rather like pointed ballerina feet.
Chibi artwork is very popular in the babyfur community as well as any other furry artist who is looking for a cute factor. Mocha Mephooki is a popular chibi artist.

Crimson Furquisition

2007-06-13T09:57:30Z

Gavin Gator:

cleanup
Crimson Furquisition are a band of 8 furs that can be found on Second Life and conventions as a pirate crew. The group is international, and does not have any fixed location headquarters. Actual pillaging and plundering is nominated, with a 30% or more for vote resulting in a display of comical piracy with full use of stereotypical pirate lingo.

"Created near the end of 2006 amidst the waves in an empty sea of boredom, the captain has vowed to take Midwest FurFest by storm; pillaging the non-furs, taking the parade by storm and claiming the new land for all fur kind."

Background
Crimson Furquisition began as a simple joke between a few of the members before growing into a band of merry pirates with a mission. The founding member of Crimson Furquisition was and to some extent still is a sailor. All members have a very strong interest into piracy and its history as well as various fursonas. After witnessing countless videos and photographs from several furcons, a late night conversation with a friend brought up the question of attending at least one convention in 2007. A few days later, it was decided that they would all be planning on making their premiere appearance at MFF 07.

The Flag
The flag that many of the members fly has not been around very long but has since become recognized within places in Second Life and to the outside world as well. It was created by Warren Dwi as a compliment to an avatar within SL, and has since been in widespread use by both the creator and members in the outside world.

The Crew
Each of the crew members bear their own fursonas based on themselves with just a little of 'pirate' charm.
The Captain
Warren Dwi is the captain of the crew and is a sometimes fearless, confused and fierce Welsh pirate; born into a life of piracy and plundering. Infamous on a near global level for fire related 'mishaps'; the most notable resulting in vast quantities of removed hair. The captain has also been responsible for the creation of The Brown Paw and inciting fashion trends using cannon-hats and ribbons.

The Messiah
Crimson Furquisition have a special trickster in their midst known only as the Messiah. A person with great talents, witnessed in 2006 walking on water. Soon after this event, a plan was hatched based around this fact. Without a ship the crew were stuck in drydock without a hope in hell of looting anything across the pond.
With the aid of the Messiah they have constructed an interesting yet perfectly valid method of travel, albeit slightly dangerous and completely frowned upon by the authorities. The general public (when not being pillaged, plundered or loots for wares, carrots or other vegetables) are quite amused at seeing a collection of flying pirate furs in formation head standing yelling out various phrases not restricted to "We be after all y'er vegetables! ... and loot!".

Bishkitsh
A small number of members also have a personal mission that has rubbed off much like their flag has amongst various people and communities. It is understood to be a private opportunist mission to commission or request a recording from Sir Thomas Sean Connery pronouncing the word "Biscuit" or "Biscuits" in which they believe will roughly sound like "Bish-Kit-shh". As a result the word itself has become more or a trademark 'shout out' during pillages.

Notably, there is a spoken agreement between participating members that whoever is first to manage this without cheating will automatically become Captain. Bonus points are also awarded to the new Captain if Sean Connery is recruited legitimately as a member of the crew shortly after the recording.

Crimson Furquisition do not claim to be first to coin the word Bishkitsh, as its use is predated in an October 2006 forum post, here. The manner in which the word is referenced within the post however is unknown.

Talk Like A Pirate Day
As a general rule of thumb the group will talk like pirates where and when required, without waiting for September 19th each year. Many of the members will hold conversations this way, but it is not a requirement of the group to be fluent in Pirate.

Gavin Gator:

Yōkai (妖怪) are creatures in Japanese folklore ranging from the evil oni to the mischievous kitsune. Some possess part animal and part human features, often anthropomorphic in form. Many furries draw inspiration from these tales to create their own fursonas or in their artwork, especially those of the kitsune. The term is a rather a broad term, and can be used to encompass virtually any monsters and supernatural beings in Japanese folklore.

In Japan, many animals are thought to have magic of their own. The magic can range from shapeshifting to magical energy. Most of the magic relates to the physical or spiritual characteristics of the animal in question. The most common magic-using animal are henge (変化), or shapeshifters, which often imitate humans, mostly women. Some of the better known animal yōkai include the following:

*Tanuki (raccoons)
*Kitsune (foxes)

A raccoon is a nocturnal mammal in the genus Procyon of the Procyonidae family. Raccoons are unusual for their thumbs, which (though not opposable) enable them to open many closed containers (such as garbage cans) and doors. They are intelligent omnivores with a reputation for being clever and mischievous. Raccoon fursonas are sometimes chosen for their mischievousness and playfulness. Often attracted to shiny objects, a raccoon fur is easily distracted.

One of the most popular raccoons is Meeko from Disney's Pocahontas. The comic strip Over the Hedge inspired a film version focusing on R.J. Raccoon and other woodland creatures dealing with pesky humans.

Luca started out his involvement within it by joining Furcadia in 2002 as an otter. Over the years his fursonas' species has changed as follows (in chronological order) otter, rabbit, fox, and currently as a three-tailed kitsune.

He is most known for his appearance in the flash animation, High Tail Hall, as well as being a moderator and frequent poster on the Yiffstar message-boards. Luca used to be somewhat active in both Second Life and Tapestries, but has lost interest in them.

Finally, Luca can be found on a number of other websites, including LiveJournal, deviantART, YTMND, and 4chan. If seen elsewhere, it is most likely someone impersonating the fox.

Luca's kitsune magic includes an ability to change size, age, gender, and species, other physical attributes (hair, fur, etc.) and chemical make-up of his form (I.e. becoming latex). However, a few things remain constant.

One of those being that the most accurate picture depicting him was one done by female furry artist Marci McAdam. Another fairly accurate picture, done by another female artist known as Spug, or Dirty_Baka alternatively. Luca's fur is the standard fox colors, with black "paws" and "socks" up to middle of the lower arm, and mid-thigh respectively.

White or cream fur covers all of his tummy, crotch, and the inside part of his thighs, and goes all the way up the underside of his muzzle and in patches around his eyes, which are violet, like his bangs. The rest of his headfur is black, usually, or it's all violet.

The only accessories of note he almost always has are three ribbons tied around his tails, and his glasses. For the ribbons, white around the right tail, pink on the middle tail, and purple on the left. These bows are tied roughly where the white fur on the tip of his large fluffy tails meets the red fur of the majority of the tail.

As for the glasses, Luca can see without them, but it's fuzzy further out (nearsighted), so, the kitsune needs glasses, then they're nothing special, just standard dark silver or black half frames. When it comes to clothing, almost anything goes really. Luca prefers "sissy" clothing when of cub age, namely frilly dresses and the like.

Luca, role-play and paraphilias
At one time, Luca was willing to role-play with nearly anyone, being somewhat of a "RPslut" then. Over the past year or so though, he's mellowed out, and does not RP nearly as much as he once did, nor with as many people.

He still has a few kinks that he's into though, and usually at least one element is included when he role-plays, such as cross-dressing, babyfur (or ageplay), submissiveness, spanking, and many more. In fact, he's open to most anything outside of vore, snuff, and blood. The babyfur interest in particular is a favorite of Luca, who considers himself both an AB and a DL both online and in the real world.

Tiger

Gavin Gator:

Cleanup

Tigers are a species of feline. Tigers generally are orange (with white countershading), with black stripes, but recessive traits cause some other color phases, including brown-striped white and "golden tabby". These unusual colorations are much more common in fursonas than in actual wild tigers, however.

Tiger colouration is distinctive, and for this reason, is often found in hybrid fursonas: witness the large number of tigerskunks, tigerroos, and tigermice in the fandom.

Quadruped Tiger characters exist on a number of wildlife-themed MUCKs, including India MUCK, Shadow Over Kamchatka MUCK, and MUCK (the latter two are closed).

Rhianna Ravenclaw

2007-06-13T09:42:26Z

Gavin Gator:

Rhianna Ravenclaw is the fursona of Tasha Rose (born November 11th, 1982). Tasha is a female freelance poet, author, artist, creator of Furgasmic.com, and a longtime member of the furry community. She currently resides in a small town in northern Wisconsin.

Fursona
Rhianna is a dominant female weretigress with two tails and an unusual yet exotic fur pattern ~ black with silver stripes. She is known for having various pets all of whom are hers through choice rather than through force. She will own no more than five at any one time. As of late, she has been too busy to give her pets the attention they require and deserve and will not be taking any on until real life events allow her to spend more time online.

Her fursona has been drawn many times by several different artists, often from real-time conversations and the results can be seen on Furgasmic in her character information thread. Her art and her stories can be found on Fur Affinity, as well as on Furgasmic.com. Though she is currently taking a break from roleplaying, several of her old roleplay logs are also posted on Furgasmic.

Draconics

Gavin Gator:

Draconics (fully titled Draconics Design) is a costuming/fursuit business and associated website based in Perth, Western Australia. Established in 2005, it is run by Fallimar.

Draconics Design takes on commissions for a wide range of projects, from small accessory items like ears and tails, all the way through to partial or full fursuits.

Fursuiters who wear costumes made by Draconics include: JM the Horse (black horse), RAD Moose (a moose-tiger), Ythrykythyr ("to ask the species of Ythrykythyr is to ask the colour of something invisible"), Kyroo (a dingoroo), and Spectre (a silver tiger).

MistyStriker

2007-06-13T09:38:21Z

Gavin Gator:

Ellen Dekker, also known as MistyStriker, is a furry artist living in Brisbane. Born February 3, 1986, in Darwin,Australia; Misty moved to Brisbane in early 2004. After moving between various housing arrangements, she now resides in a furry share-house called The Den, with fellow house-mates Moreth and Bingo Dingo. Her fursona is a two-tailed wolferret (wolf/ferret hybrid).

Becoming Furry
Possibly a furry from an early age, Misty first picked up a pencil and began scribbling animals when she was around 10 years old. She showed an affinity for animals that echoed in her art, never choosing to draw people unless dictated. Through her Internet access while visiting her father twice a week, Misty discovered Furcadia when she was 13, an incident that changed her life from that moment onward. Her first attempts at furry art were crude versions of a portrait set for the popular chat program.

Eventually expanding out beyond Furcadia, Misty discovered VCL and Yahoo!. She applied and succeeded in joining the well-known art archive and began her own Group within Yahoo entitled the "Furry Art Club". Through this group she made contact with her first real furry artist friends including Leona Preston, HollyAnn and Kimbo Demonica.

Continuing to draw throughout this time, she improved at a steady rate, looking to drawing and colouring tutorials within the web and always adding her own touches. Provided with Photoshop by her graphics teacher, her skills increased further when she was awarded with a Wacom graphics tablet by Inkfox of the drawink LiveJournal community.

She now maintains her own website, FurFetch'd Creations, and her art also resides on the online archives VCL, Fur Affinity and deviantART. Her commission rate, while not steady enough to provide a stable source of income, allows her time to continue to draw for herself, something she continues to be passionate about. She also works part-time in a McCafe and studies a course in Animal Care via correspondence.

Misty is a raver by nature. She loves electronic and dance music, including the Bonkers mixes, but also appreciates most other genres of music. She loves to collect anything rainbow coloured and has also decorated more than one pair of shoes with fabric paints. Misty also has two piercings, which are echoed within her fursona design and plans for two more and a couple of tattoos.

Social life and Friends
The social circle of Misty is much too large to name everybody but her close friends within Brisbane include FlameDrake, FoxyMalone, Milestheotter, Nikita Wolfpaw, Neox, FoxofFire, Tyresk, Dimruthien VerenLaulaja and her housemates. Other friends include fellow Australians, Tursiae, ShivalWolf, Scamps, boodie, Kementh, Baskiero, and Leilah. She also has many online friends overseas that are far too numerous to mention.
Misty's social life online exists within three main areas, LiveJournal, Furnet and MSN. Her username within these areas is MistyStriker. Misty runs a channel within Furnet called #brisfurs, a gathering place on IRC for the furry community of Brisbane and Queensland. She also frequents #ozfurs, #artcommissions, #dragons, #felines, #zoo, #thetrollfactory, and #bondagefurs.

Fursona
The fursona of MistyStriker is a female wolferret with two tails. Her shoulder length hair is a deep black colour, she has medium blue eyes, and her tongue and right nipple are pierced with silver barbells. She also has two black tattoos, one ferret paw on her lower left abdomen and one wolf paw on her right buttock next to her tails. Misty's fashion choices range from the simple slogan or picture t-shirt worn with customised graffiti jeans, to all-out crazy raver clothing with rainbows and glowing accessories. She constantly prefers pants to skirts, and never dresses in anything overly feminine. Misty always wears a simple purple collar with a green RSPCA rectangle metal keyring, and a yellow hexagonal registration tag.

Variations
MistyStriker is a polymorph, and can shape-shift as she chooses. Any form she takes on is generally a variation of her original wolferret appearance, with the same colourings, markings, and clothing. The forms listed below are just a few examples of her versatility, as Misty can create any kind of new form as she wishes.
*Mistywuff: A non-anthro form of MistyStriker, she is a quadrupedal two-tailed wolferret complete with the standard purple collar.
*MiniMisty: A miniature version, standing roughly 6 inches tall. Her appearance is exactly the same as her regular form, only smaller in scale.
*MistyRaptor: A velociraptor form, non-anthropomorphic. She has the same colourings as her original form but with only one tail.
*MistyMaid: While still an anthro wolferret, MistyMaid dons a customised French maid's outfit for doing house chores.

Character Evolution
MistyStriker began in the year 2000 as a black panther with white markings who was originally a descendant of a distant royal family. But somehow one day the artist chose to represent herself as a simple wolf in the infamous Bad Day picture. Since then, the species has stuck, and while she has undergone slight changes in appearance and style, MistyStriker has remained true to the artist behind her. The change to a wolf-ferret hybrid in 2006 was brought on by Misty realising that she had more characteristics inside herself that were other than wolf. She had also desired for a little bit more of originality and personality in her appearance.

Second Life
Misty can be found in the online community of Second Life under the name of Oboroten Dorn. She is generally a rainbow tiger, but can also be seen as a draconic wolf, or a black gargoyle. Her primary lurking spots are Furnation Prime, Club Rainbow Tiger, Furry Vermin and Dragon Spire. She operates as a dancer, pole dancer, raver, cuddle slut and aspiring model for AnthroGasm Magazine.

Hybrid

2007-06-13T09:26:46Z

Gavin Gator:

A hybrid is the offspring of mating two different species or two different breeds of the same species.

In the case of furry characters, a hybrid is frequently a cross of two largely or entirely unrelated species that cannot interbreed in real life, such as fox and wolf (commonly called a folf) or a tiger and skunk. The latter was popularized among furries by Max Black Rabbit's popular character, Zig Zag. Feasible hybrids that are found amongst the fandom include the liger and tigon. While most hybrid characters tend to be mammal-mammal hybrids, there are a few cases which consist of a mix of species of two different classes, this kind being most often a reptile-mammal.

Gavin Gator

Gavin Gator:

Gavin Gator is the alias of Scott Gavinston, an otherkin scaly from western Pennsylvania, born in Newcastle Waters, Northern Territory, Australia. He has also been known as Watcher and Gavin Dragonheart. Gavin is portrayed as an anthropomorphic American alligator, in homage to fellow countryman and environmentalist, the late Steve Irwin. Gavin's father, an Australian zoo veterinarian, had met the late Crocodile Hunter a few times professionally, but Gavin never had a chance to meet Irwin. Nevertheless, his father's work, as well as Irwin's, inspired Gavin to get his bachelor's degree in Biology at the University of Wisconsin at Green Bay and currently work toward his M.S. in Environmental Science at American University in Washington, D.C. Gavin is a social liberal, an active environmentalist and a devout Episcopalian. He is currently married to his wife Sarah and has 3 children and their toy chihuahua Bubba (also known by Gavin as Killer).

Dungeons and Dragons
Gavin is an avid player of Dungeons & Dragons and is a veteran Dungeon Master, having played from the game's early days. He is also DM and Storyteller on many other RPGs, both tabletop and LARP. One of his greatest hobbies is creating fictional species, often by hybridizing existing species. One of his more well-known creations is the sea adamantite dragon, an aquatic version of one of D&D's most powerful dragons. Because of the unusual hybridization involved, Gavin decided to limit the species to only a few specimens, one of which he played on MUCKs often as Gavin Dragonheart. Gavin is also responsible for creating many more species, often anthro versions of existing species. He has also taken several popular TV and anime shows and written character sheets for most of the characters fitting within current D&D or d20 systems. Examples of such are DragonballZ, He-Man, Conan the Barbarian, Robin Hood, Vampire Hunter D and Chrono Crusade.

Gavin Gator: I disagree with this merge!

Merge
Sure, go ahead and merge them. I had just made this cause it was in the 'wanted pages' listing. -- Banrai 15:23, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

I disagree. Alligators and Crocodiles are two different things. Taxonomically speaking, gators and crocs belong to two quite separate taxonomic families and are as different from one another as we are from, say, gorillas.--Gavin Gator
