Furry Con Archives (FCA) is a community-driven historical multimedia archive dedicated to preserving furry and pony convention (MLP) media and history.

Overview
Based out of Worcester, Massachusetts, FCA focuses on archiving old con books, program guides, newsletters, zines, flyers, and other fandom cultural artifacts before they are lost. It functions as a response to veteran fans downsizing or leaving the fandom and tossing irreplaceable physical history.

FCA was inspired by the need to maintain a permanent historical record of fandom events, viewing convention materials not as disposable souvenirs, but as vital "fandom archaeology." With FCA, the goal is to provide a centralized, free, and accessible repository for these publications, allowing fans and historians to explore the cultural evolution of the fandoms.

In an effort to broaden its reach to a more diverse audience, the site has actively expanded beyond its furry origins to include donated materials from bronies and pegasisters, and My Little Pony convention circuits.

Mission
The project's philosophy towards preservation is outlined in its official mission statement:

Features
The Furry Con Archives platform offers several tools and features designed around accessibility and preservation:
* Users can find materials via Title, Category (by year, convention, or type), Metadata (filtering by artist, convention, or description), and a Full-Text search that scans OCR-extracted content from within the documents.
* All hosted materials are free to read and download as PDFs. The site contains no ads, subscriptions, or paywalls. It utilizes Umami analytics to track PDF views, helping the team prioritize which materials to digitize next based on community interest.
* Furry Con Archives partnered with the event networking tool Consurf. Users browsing an event profile on Consurf can seamlessly access that specific convention's historical conbooks through linked Furry Con Archives integration. Furry Con Archives is also listed as a recognized community partner of the Brazilian furry convention FURCAMP.
* To guarantee long-term redundancy, all files uploaded to the platform are automatically mirrored to the Internet Archive at @furryconarchives.

Rights, copyright, and preservation policy
Because the archive handles decades of collaborative artwork, writing, and photography, Furry Con Archives maintains a framework for conventions, artists or collaborators to request data to be removed. The policy explicitly outlines how the archive handles documents, copyright claims, and takedown requests. The site acts as a historical custodian rather than a commercial publisher, prioritizing the preservation of out-of-print, historically significant fandom ephemera.

Submissions
Furry Con Archives actively seeks physical donations of old or fragile materials, as well as leftover convention stock from organizers. To prevent historical artifacts from ending up in landfills, they offer direct "loan-to-digitize" arrangements and potential shipping support.

Community members looking to donate physical materials, submit digital scans, or request a takedown can contact the staff directly through the website's contact portal, or reach out to the project lead (Tabitha) via Telegram or Discord at the handle <code>@furtabs</code>.

Organization and Funding
Operating under the belief that "history belongs to the community," Furry Con Archives is funded entirely through community support, including one-time donations and monthly sponsorships. The team explicitly chose not to register as an official non-profit organization, citing a desire to avoid administrative overhead and legal red tape so they can focus entirely on preservation. The volunteer team coordinates operations via monthly staff meetings, with formal meeting minutes recorded starting in July 2026.

The project has a strict long-term contingency policy: if funding or operations ever fail, the entire archive and database will be made public and transferred to a trusted community member or established historical organization to ensure no materials are lost.

Statistics
As of 2026, the Furry Con Archives database hosts over 400 digitized documents spanning more than 110 different furry and pony conventions.

Furry Con Archives (often abbreviated as FCA) is a community-driven digital library dedicated to preserving furry and pony convention media and history. Based out of Worcester, Massachusetts, the project focuses on archiving old conbooks, program guides, newsletters, zines, flyers, and other cultural artifacts before they are lost. It functions as a response to veteran fans downsizing or leaving the fandom and tossing irreplaceable physical history.

Furry Con Archives was inspired by the need to maintain a permanent historical record of fandom events, viewing convention materials not as disposable souvenirs, but as vital "fandom archaeology." With Furry Con Archives, the goal is to provide a centralized, free, and accessible repository for these publications, allowing fans and historians to explore the cultural evolution of the fandoms. In an effort to broaden its reach to a more diverse audience, the site has actively expanded beyond its furry origins to include materials from the brony and My Little Pony convention circuits.

Mission
The project's philosophy towards preservation is outlined in its official mission statement:

<blockquote>"Some people collect CDs, video games, or a very specific kind of vintage toy. Those hobbies look normal because the objects are already treated as valuable. Collecting furry convention materials is the same kind of special interest—just one that often gets called obsessive or strange because the stuff was printed to be disposable.

This archive is the public product of that interest. We digitize and share conbooks, zines, and related ephemera so they are not only sitting in someone else's drawer, landfill, or forgotten storage box. We cannot casually change what we care about. We can put that focus to work for the fandom."</blockquote>

Features & Integrations

Rights, Copyright, & Preservation Policy
Because the archive handles decades of collaborative artwork, writing, and photography, Furry Con Archives maintains a framework for conventions, artists or collaborators to request data to be removed. The policy explicitly outlines how the archive handles documents, copyright claims, and takedown requests. The site acts as a historical custodian rather than a commercial publisher, prioritizing the preservation of out-of-print, historically significant fandom ephemera.

Contact & Submissions

Midwest FurFest (MFF) is an annual American furry convention and one of the largest furcons in the world, with an attendance of 16,925 people as of December 2025.

Overview
Midwest FurFest is a production of Midwest Furry Fandom, Inc., which holds Midwest Furfest and furfest as service marks.

The official X account advises attendees to post on X using the hashtag "#FurFest", as many other conventions are abbreviated MFF, one of which takes place at around the same time. Previously, MFF suggested using the "#MWFF" hashtag, for the same reason.

MFF has called the Hyatt Regency O'Hare in Rosemont, Illinois home since 2010.

History
MFF began as the furry track for Duckon, which is a Chicago-based science fiction convention. It was started at Duckon 3 in 1994 and was headed up by Robert King. It grew larger yearly, and it was estimated that by Duckon 8 (1999), between a quarter and a third of the attendees were there due to interest in the furry track.

The track encountered problems because it was running out of room to expand without impacting other parts of Duckon's programming space and time. It was decided that the best course of action was to move into a new convention. Thus, Midwest Furry Fandom, Inc. was created, and MFF was born, to take place in November 2000, on the weekend before Thanksgiving. The parting was amicable, and Duckon lent a good bit of expertise and manpower to help make the first year of MFF a success.

Since then, the convention has grown from 473 attendees in 2000 to 16,925 in 2025. It has helped raise over $ 1.28 million for various charities.
