Frysco: Updated for 2026 with moving back to the UK

Frysco (also known as Kootenay) is a fursuiter who lives in Surrey, UK. Originally from England, he moved to California in July 1997, to British Columbia in October 2003, Ontario in January 2018, and returned back to England in December 2025.

Frysco hosts several furry sites under critter.net, which also used to host many convention photographs (before people tended to prefer places like Flickr). He also hosted Flayrah, which he led from mid-2006 to 2009.

Frysco is a gryfsune - a hybrid of kitsune and gryphon. Originally resembling a grey fox, Frysco was created as a character for the Sinai MUCK. When Frysco was about to gain his sixth kitsune tail, he became aware of his gryphon ancestry (on his father's side) and instead became part gryphon, sprouting bright Rainbow lorikeet feathers.

Frysco's player also has two other characters he regularly brings to life: Kootenay (a Steller's Jay), and Athra (a Khajiit).

Frysco has a number of fursuits, including:

Purpose and Operations
{{q|Our mission is to bring together fans of the furry genre together in a laid-back, casual environment to exchange artwork and crafts, share ideas, participate in entertainment, and meet the fantastic creators and fans that contribute to the furry community, all in one of Canada's premier cities. Furnal Equinox has aimed to promote the goal of showcasing the best local talent and attracting worldwide furry names by inviting two Guests of Honour to the convention every year, one from Canada and one from outside of Canada.

Furnal Equinox is operated by Anthropomorphic Events of Ontario, incorporated in the Province of Ontario as a corporation without share capital (NPO) since June 2009. Its current directors are as follows:

History
Origins and first year (2008 - 2010)
Prior to Furnal Equinox, there had never been a large, hotel-based furry event hosted in the Toronto area. (Camp Feral has run continuously since 1998 at a summer camp three hours from Toronto.) The Islington Furmeet, created in the summer of 2008 and taking place in Toronto's west end, was a recurring meet in the area that demonstrated the viability of large-scale gatherings.

Through 2008 and early 2009, discussions regarding the feasibility of a hotel event took place on the TorFur Mailing List and the Ontario Furries forum. After initial faltering steps including attempts to determine date and staff members by vote, the discussion moved to a private mailing list in March 2009.

In June 2009, the convention formerly incorporated as Anthropomorphic Events of Ontario, with Pakesh De, Blindsight, Crassadon, Dan Skunk and Scani as its initial directors. Pakesh assumed the role of convention chair, with Blindsight joining later as a co-chair. The two would remain for the following five years. FE was promoted in its first year as "Toronto's First Furry Convention" and formally announced its name on July 1 (Canada Day), 2009.

In July 2009, Dan Skunk was removed from the organization's convention committee due to, in Furnal Equinox's view, irreconcilable differences with the remainder of the concom that were impairing the ability of the convention to continue.

Despite operating as a two-day event, the first Furnal Equinox proved to be a success, breaking the existing attendance record for a Canadian furry convention and exceeding all expectations -- including those of the organizers, who ran out of conbooks midway through registration on Saturday.

Controversy (2010)
Following the 2010 convention, Dan Skunk made a post on the Ontario Furries website, claiming to be unfairly prevented from helping with the convention and treated rudely by the chairs and staff. The complaint was subsequently deleted. Around the same time, an extended editing dispute between Dan and FE staff took place on WikiFur's Furnal Equinox page.

The dispute finally reached a head with the following events:

* Dan removed Furnal Equinox's forum from Ontario Furries, and unsuccessfully called for a boycott of Furnal Equinox on the Ontario Furries web site.
* Furnal Equinox and fellow Canadian convention What the Fur severed their relationships with Ontario Furries through official statements. .
* A number of other regional forums were created: CanadianFurries.ca, torfurs.com, and OntarioFurs.com.
* Dan created a web page at furnalequinox.org to state his viewpoints.

The bans on Furnal Equinox staff and discussion were fully removed from Ontario Furries in 2013. In June and July 2015, Dan Skunk removed the content at furnalequinox.org and transferred the domain name to Furnal Equinox. As of July 26, 2015, the furnalequinox.org domain redirects to the main Furnal Equinox website.

Subsequent years (2011 - 2016)
After the 2010 convention, Arc, the convention's head of Security, joined the Board of Directors.

By 2012, Furnal Equinox had doubled in size and expanded to a new wing of the Doubletree hotel. At the conclusion of the 2012 event, it announced a move to the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre, where it remained until 2015.

With additional growth in the past several years, recent conventions have seen the addition of additional programming hours on Friday, and other special events such as a hospitality suite, a fursuit dance competition, and a masquerade.

After several years of working as publicity lead, Scani was announced as the new chair of the convention in July 2014, with Olefin also joining the board of directors. Blindsight, Pakesh and Shane remained on the board for an additional transition year before fully handing the reins to a new team in the summer of 2015.

At closing ceremonies for Furnal Equinox 2015, Keianza was announced as the winner of a logo competition that had taken place for the past several months. The new logo will be fully utilized for the 2016 convention. and the Ontario Furries forum.

Around the same time, an extended editing dispute between Dan and FE staff took place on WikiFur's Furnal Equinox page. and the Ontario Furries forum.

* Athra Sohlstavir, a Khajiit, built by MagpieBones

* Loot, a teal coloured deer, built by Temperance.
* Lutalo, an African Wild Dog, commissioned from LX Limited.
* Morse, a European Magpie, made by himself.

* Tiwaz, a tiger, who was mostly made by Frysco with stripes air-brushed by WhiteyFawks.
* Tseatah, a 'critter', based on a hyena-like hybrid with saberteeth and horns, who is also the mascot of critter.net. Tseatah mk.I was commissioned from Arend Studios, Tseatah mk.II was made by One Fur All Studios (but has since been stolen and lost), and Tseatah mk.III was made by Eddie-Ka

Frysco has been on the staff for Howloween, Further Confusion (for which he was convention chairman in 2009), Everfree Northwest, BronyCAN, and currently is the business director for Furnal_Equinox, having started in that position for the 2019 event.

Subsequent years (2011 - 2015)
After the 2010 convention, Arc, the convention's head of Security, joined the Board of Directors.

(2016 - )
For 2016, Furnal Equinox moved to its new home of the Westin Harbour Castle, and has been there for all subsequent events.

At the end of the 2018 convention, Scani stepped down from the convention chair role, which was taken over by Aaeden. and the Ontario Furries forum.

Subsequent years (2011 - 2015)
After the 2010 convention, Arc, the convention's head of Security, joined the Board of Directors.

After several years of working as publicity lead, Scani was announced as the new chair of the convention in July 2014 and the Ontario Furries forum.

Subsequent years (2011 - 2015)
After the 2010 convention, Arc, the convention's head of Security, joined the Board of Directors.

* Cackle, a Northern Mockingbird, which he built himself.
* Cisco, a grey fox, commissioned from Alopex.
* Kanshin, a gryphon, purchased from Marylen Costumes.
* Kootenay, a Steller's Jay, built by Crafty Coyo Costumes.
* Lasrach, a hippogryph. The body of Lasrach was built by Frysco with some help from ScribbleFox and WhiteyFawks, while the head was commissioned from Jax the Purple Bat.
* Lutalo, an African Wild Dog, commissioned from LX Limited.
* Morse, a European Magpie, made by Frysco.
* Napier, a hyena, pruchased from LX Limited.
* Nikoli, a snowleopard, whose head was made by One Fur All Studios.
* Oscar, a German Shepherd, commissioned from Joecifur.
* Rupelli, a fox, made by Frysco.
* Tiwaz, a tiger, who was mostly made by Frysco with stripes air-brushed by WhiteyFawks.
* Tseatah, a 'critter', based on a hyena-like hybrid with saberteeth and horns, who is also the mascot of critter.net. Tseatah was commissioned from Arend Studios.

Frysco has been on the staff for Howloween and Further Confusion, for which he was convention chairman in 2009. Other conventions he has been to include Anthrocon, Eurofurence, Midwest FurFest and RainFurrest.

Frysco

2006-10-26T19:52:30Z

Frysco:

Frysco (also Francisco Azinsan) is a fursuiter who lives in British Columbia, but is not native to the area.

Frysco hosts several furry sites under critter.net, which also hosts many convention photographs.

Frysco's player also has two other characters he regularly brings to life: Kanshin (a black gryphon), and Lochinvar (a winged coyote).

Frysco has a number of fursuits, including:
* Frysco (a grey fox)
* Lasrach (a hippogryph)
* Tiwaz (a tiger)
* Nikoli (a snowleopard)
* Tseatah (a 'critter', based on a hyena-like hybrid with saberteeth and horns, who is also the mascot of critter.net)
* Morse (a magpie)
* Napier (a hyena)
* Lutalo (an African Wild Dog)
* Belmont (a wolfdog)
* Kanshin (a gryphon)
* Rupelli (a fox)

Frysco has been on the staff for Howloween and Further Confusion. He has been to Anthrocon

Further Confusion

Further Confusion
Further Confusion (or FurCon, sometimes FURther CONfusion) is an annual convention celebrating the anthropomorphics genre or furry fandom. It is one of the two largest such conventions in the world and takes place in the Bay Area of California each January. It includes charitable benefits, educational seminars, art shows, panels, and general social activities. It was the first event sponsored by Anthropomorphic Arts and Education, Inc. (FurCon is its registered service mark) and continues to be its largest. It will next be held 18-22 January 2007, at the Double Tree Hotel.

Further Confusion has the largest art show of any convention in the fandom with sales routinely exceeding US$50,000. Indeed, one piece alone (Eyes of the Night by Goldenwolf) went for $10,000 at Further Confusion 2004, the result of a close, fierce bid battle between Flint Otterhall and a local appreciator of furry art.

Significant events of Further Confusion include an Iron Artist competition, the original Critterlympics and an in-house Television station (FCTV) that broadcasts during the convention.

History
Beginning in 1999 with attendance of 691 individuals, it has grown rapidly: in 2006 there were 1,911 registered attendees. In the past 7 years, FurCon has donated over $50,000 to various charitable beneficiaries.
