Fjara: Adjustment to SouthWalesFurs figures from October 2014 to June 2015

WelshFurs is the name given to all furries living in Wales in the United Kingdom, though the term is mostly applied to those in Cardiff.

SouthWalesFurs meets have been running monthly since around 2006 and have seen numbers grow ever since. As of June 2015, the SouthWalesFurs - extending from Monmouthshire to Pembrokeshire and up into the South Wales Valleys - sees over 50 regular attendees and over 200 members within the Facebook group.

NorthWalesFurs (LlandudnoFurs) established themselves as a community in 2013 and have become successful, especially with the NorthernFurs.

There are also a small group of furs who regularly gather for casual meets in Bangor.

Meets
* SouthWalesFurs: Meets are held every first Saturday of the month, meeting from 11am to midday at Cardiff Central train station and from midday onwards at Bar Icon on Charles Street, Cardiff, as base camp. All furry bits and pieces welcome – con badges, partials, collars, etc. The bar is fursuiting friendly and includes an upstairs area which is able to be reserved for security of belongings and changing privacy.

* LlandudnoFurs: LlandudnoFur meets are held every two to three months. For specific dates, it is best to look into the NorthWalesFurs Facebook group or Twitter. Each meet is themed. Meeting at midday at Llandudno train station, before venturing over to the venue of Mostyn Art Gallery. From midday to 5pm with a fursuiting walk at 1pm. Optional meal at Wetherspoons following the meet. There are artists trading, games tables, general games and activities related to the specific meet’s theme. An art raffle is held at £2 a ticket to cover expenses for venue hire.

Fjara Reifsnider (born 1995), formerly known as Neo, is a photographer living in South Wales, United Kingdom. Her fursona is a rabbit/fox hybrid.

History
Fjara discovered the furry fandom through Second Life in February 2008. During that summer, she developed and kept her "bunnyfox" hybrid fursona, which underwent minor refinements in concept until 2011. She began attending Cardiff furmeets in February 2012, and since May of that year she has been photographing the local furries.

As Neo, in July 2012, she started a new chapter in her furry life by taking up her new name - Fjara - and transferring this to her online identities. The name Fjara translates to 'beach' in Icelandic and was inspired by a song of the same title by the band Sólstafir.

Following the end of a college course in June 2013, Fjara exhibited a series of photographs involving the Cardiff furries and their environment. Her work endeavoured to educate outsiders by showing the furry fandom in a positive light.

In autumn 2013, Fjara took up an organiser type position for WelshFurs and in the CardiffFurs Committee, and in May 2014, she was elected as the UKFur Forums photography section moderator.

Axxis

2013-06-19T20:11:58Z

Fjara:

Axxiswolf (also known as Owen Evans; born June, 1994) is an amateur anthro artist who resides in his hometown of Pencoed, South Wales, United Kingdom. His fursona is a pink and white wusky (wolf/husky hybrid). He is the founder and illustrator of his Fur Affinity-based wrestling series "DMW" (Death Match Wrestling).

History
Axxiswolf originally got interested in the furry fandom in early 2007, when a friend at school showed him Sonic the Hedgehog fan art drawn in an anthropomorphic style. Axxiswolf started practicing drawing Sonic fan art himself, in a similar style, which led to him discovering the furry fandom while doing research for ideas on the internet.

In September, 2009, Axxiswolf set up his original Fur Affinity account but rarely posted any art or journals. He set up a page under the name Axxiswolf in August, 2012, after going to his first Cardiff furmeet earlier that month.

Events/Conventions
Axxiswolf has attended:
* Frantic Eufuria 7 (April 2013)

Death Match Wrestling (DMW)
Axxis founded DMW in September, 2012, when he drew up a hardcore wrestling match with anthro characters. To this day, he continues drawing matches in the same style, with minor improvements in places which are noticeable when compared to earlier works. These improvements include better body details and improved colour work.

Personal Life
Axxis is a wrestling fan who has an on-and-off part-time wrestling career, including backyard events and live indoor shows.

Hi Higgs, that's okay. Just getting used to the site. I noticed that the Wales category was very out of date and as I am, in the modern day, quite responsible for the Welsh Furs community (mostly South) as a whole, I would really like to adjust and add individuals to make it up to date! One thing I was having trouble with was adding such people to the Wales category page? I found some categories people are put into appear on those pages automatically (eg: Fox characters). If you could help me so I could update this, I would really appreciate it. Thank you! Fjara 13:13, 19 June 2013 (EDT)

Gogledd

2013-06-19T02:14:44Z

Fjara:

cleanup
Gogledd (born February 7, 1992), also known as Gogledd the Otter, is a furry musician living in Hereford, United Kingdom. His fursona is a European river otter. He is known to frequent the forum site UKFur when not making music.

Biography
Gogledd achieved a BSc degree in Genetics at Cardiff University.

Gogledd worked as a volunteer session musician at Hereford Music Studios and as a member of his college's Chamber Choir as a second bass, but none of the albums he has participated in have been released yet. Though he specialises in keys, he has played balalaika, streichzither and doumbek (amongst others) on recordings. He will occasionally write his own pieces and has a Fur Affinity account to share them. His works have ranged from classical recitals to jazz fusion, though he is currently looking to expand into a more electronic-based form of music.

While he will draw and make animations, he deems these to be of inferior quality to post on the Internet.

Gogledd is a keen Scuba diver, achieving a BSAC Sports Diver qualification in 2009, and is a fan of valve (vacuum tube) electronics. He also has an extensive gramophone record collection, ranging from 78rpm classical recordings from the turn of the 20th Century to 45rpm singles from the late Nineties. In the past he has been a volunteer reed organ conservator at Hereford Museum and Art Gallery and currently studies organology as a hobby, collecting rare and unusual musical instruments to back this up.

Fjara Reifsnider (born 1995), formerly known as Neo, is a photographer living in South Wales, United Kingdom. Her fursona is a rabbit/fox hybrid.

History
Fjara discovered the furry fandom through Second Life in February 2008. During that summer, she developed and kept her 'bunnyfox' hybrid fursona, that was refined minorly in concept until 2011.
She began attending Cardiff furmeets in February 2012, and from May of that year to present date she has been photographing the local furries.
As Neo, in July 2012, she started a new chapter in her furry life by taking up her new name and transferring this to her online identities. The name Fjara translates to 'beach' in Icelandic and was inspired by a song of the same title by the band Sólstafir.
Following the end of a college course in June 2013, Fjara exhibited a series of photographs involving the Cardiff furries and their environment. Her work endeavoured to educate outsiders to the furry fandom in a positive light.

Micah Sheehan

Micah Sheehan (born October 1987), also known as DJ Micah, is a furry musician, producer and disk jockey who lives in South Wales, United Kingdom. His fursona is an indigo tiger.

History
Micah has always had an interest in the furry fandom growing up, from the diverse nature of the group, to the magical imagination of many within. Not being much of a furry artist, he does try to leave a piece of himself with others through the form of music - especially using his experience as a real life published producer and disk jockey.
His performances (as a furry) are better known for the additions of such one-liners as 'the finger banging pussy', 'the true definition of aural sex' and 'tails up if you want it hard!' into his live 2-hour sets of electronic dance music - genres including electro house, trance, hard dance, hard style and gabber hardcore.
He began attending Cardiff furmeets in November 2012.

Second Life
Micah also has a presence to the international community within Second Life, not only as a DJ and a bit of a flirt, but also as the founder of Club Culture, a simulated night club environment featuring live performances from DJs across the world.

Trivia
People struggle when it comes to the pronunciation of his name, variations including 'Meekah', 'Meesha', 'Mickeh' and 'Meekachu'... but the correct way to pronounce it is 'Mike-uh'.

Meyou Kitsune

Meyou Kitsune is the fursona of Martyn Bland (born January 1985), a furry from Cardiff, South Wales, United Kingdom. He is also known as Marty.

Meyou has been a furry since 2003, although he stayed in the furry closet until late 2006/early 2007.

Fursona
Meyou is a black-furred Kitsune, measuring six foot in height, with three tails. He is roughly based on Meyou's real life self. His attire usually consists of combats, a black T-shirt, JT gloves, and black military-styled boots.

Meyou is addicted to Mountain Dew and will happily drink it at all opportunities.

As of late, Meyou has taken to transforming random people into vixens, with the intent of snuggling their breasts. Sometimes these plans backfire, resulting in Meyou transforming himself into a female kitty, much to his friends' amusement.

Real Life
Meyou was inspired to join the furry fandom after reading the webcomic The Whiteboard, and seeing a topic on furries on the forums. Although initially freaked out by what he found on Google, the idea stuck and he created his first fursona (a cat) before soon switching over to being a kitsune.

Meyou is passionate about the sport of paintball, whether it's playing, reffing, or simply discussing it. Meyou currently works two jobs, the first being for the British Government, which he refers as "The Office", and the other being for Delta Force Paintball, which he refers as "The Field." Meyou uses income from both these jobs to attend various conventions, including Anthrocon and Eurofurence. At Eurofurence 16, Meyou opened for Uncle Kage & 2's show, regailing the audience with his tale of cars full of furries, angry German police, and a 15 Euro fine.

Meyou believes the over-sexualization of the furry fandom (and those who are "just in it for the yiff") are a damaging influence on the identity of the fandom.

Meyou often draws furry art, mostly depicting paintballing furs, and, despite his views on yiff, if requested he will draw it. Meyou is self-taught, inspired by The Whiteboard and wanting to "be just like Doc".

Meyou considers himself a SurvivalistFur, MetalFur, and 4x4fur.
