Blink Dogs are intelligent canines in the same level as dolphins, but they are not anthropomorphic, funny animals, or even Talking animals - Spirou 14:11, 17 March 2012 (EDT)
Not sure what protocol is for responding to this, still new here. I left a more lengthy response on what must be your home chat page, it probably belonged here. This is meant to be a species page, very few of which are anthropomorphic in nature. I had intended to add "blink dog characters" and maybe an illustration or two to the page that might explain why I thought it was useful to include. On the other hand, they are talking animals, in that they have a language they share with each other and are intelligent on the same level as humans, I'll tweak the first few lines to mention that latter part. I felt that I was already being too detailed for a species with only three or four members in the fandom...Part of the reason I went into so much detail, mostly historical, was that the Anthro blink dogs in the fandom based their persona on different phases of the creature's development over time.

::Understood, yes there's information on Wikipedia, and it's a solid article. But one of the uses Wikifur has is aggregating phenotype information and cross-referencing it to furry profiles with the members of that species active in the fandom--I don't think I could add "Furry Blink Dog Characters" to the Wikipedia article and have it last long. I'm also working on getting a commission to use for a species illustration from a good furry artist. I've focused more on the species changing over time in the article I've written here. Regardless, I think I'm totally in line with many of the more obscure species pages here (dingo is a good comparison)--it's hard to make things more furry when there are very few blink dogs on furaffinity. I've created references to the ones I could find. I can also talk with one of the others and use an image or two to demonstrate the different "subspecies" used by furries. :::There doesn't need to be an article here on WikiFur for :Category:Blink Dog characters to exist. (That matches our pattern of capitalisation in species and character categories.)
Blink dogs would not necessarily fall under Species more than Mythological. The main problem with the Blink dogs article is that it does not cover anthro sentient characters, like Gnolls does, and as a species, we haven't seen enough propagation in Furry Lore to warrant current notice (first I hear of them again in 17 years). Displacer beasts are more common in furry fandom, thanks to artists like Ken Sample, who propagated the anthro version of the tentacular cat species from the early days of furry BBSes. And we don't have an article about them yet!. But a link hit on Google and "Displacer beast+furry" shows the quantity of furry material available, enough for a future article ("Blink dog+furry" gives only one hit).

Not that it could be a future article if they became more common with more artists, fans, writers, etc,... Two or three people is currently not enough for it, and as other curators have pointed, the information regarding these D&D beings can easily be covered by Wikipedia. The effort is appreciated as always, though. Just pointing out hoe we handle these matters - Spirou 21:47, 19 March 2012 (EDT)

:Hmm, Russian WikiFur has displacer beast article, and it could use the info about Ken Sample's works. Thanks! (We do plan a blink dog article, but it's because we have a bit different rules for topic inclusion, as does Russian Wikipedia - an article about blink dog can't exist there.) EvilCat 04:55, 21 March 2012 (EDT)

:I feel kind of helpless here. If the material was more general, there would presumably already be an article. There are blink dogs represented in the fandom, albeit very few, but I suspect there are more blink dogs than asswolves, and probably that representation is more sincere. Specificity doesn't appear to be a concern, either to the furry fandom (cockroaches are represented in wikifur, and I can only think of one of those, though a well-known one) or within the focused subcategory of Dungeons and Dragons species. The anthropomorphic nature of the creature as a qualification is highly subjective, since the furry banner embraces talking animals, and I don't think anyone would doubt the furry cred of "Watership Down," a similar level of anthroporphism. At any rate, I'd be happy to include more furry-specific content, I've asked for some commissioned artwork to flesh out the entry, and can allude to the prevalence of Displacer Beasts who are more widely anthropomorphized, though that feels like it would be off-topic. I'd be happy to create an article on displacer beasts and tie the two entries together, as they're related species, though the immediate "mark for deletion" of my first article makes me a little uncomfortable doing so.Fades 9:04 21 March 2012

Blink Dog article concerns
Hi, Spirou, thanks for your response. I agree that the article I did on blink dogs is probably too long and, yes, not directly related to anthropomorphics. However, it was intended to be a species article (I may have miscategorized it? I tried to put it under Dungeons and Dragons fictitious species.) The article on dingos isn't specifically furry, either, as dingos aren't two-legged until someone draws them that way. I hadn't yet built the related article or subcategory for blink dog species characters (there are three of us! We're the new husky!) particularly since I'm not totally sure I understand how page categorization works. I'm still learning, this was my first article. While I do agree that the article wasn't focused on furries or anthro characters, I'm not sure that consistently applies to species pages, because they're the basis of what an animal persona is built from, and all of them generally read like encyclopedia articles about the species. Let me know what you think, thanks again! Fades

Furnal Equinox article concerns
I wanted to approach you in your role as a WikiFur curator with regards to the edits on Furnal Equinox. First of all, I appreciate that the goal of WikiFur tends towards preservation of the historical fact, and apologize that the proceedings have dragged on as long as we have. My concern is that User:Dan Skunk has a vested interest in the content of the article (this should be VERY clear based upon how much of the article involves him). Most notably, a set of edits that I made, which did nothing to censor content (rather rearrange it), were reverted and dismissed as "censoring criticism". If what I can expect going forward is that any legitimate edits will be vociferously reversed, that isn't acceptable to me. I'm having a sense of "victim, judge, jury and executioner" right now, which can't be good for the wiki ideal.
Dan and the staff of Furnal Equinox (including myself) have thus far failed to come to a consensus and I don't see one coming at any time in the near future for reasons that go well beyond the bounds of WikiFur. The article needs some sort of arbitration or other third-party intervention to assess what content is relevant, and how it should be presented. Is there any process that we can work through to accomplish this? Feel free to respond on my talk page. --Scani 21:15, 5 October 2011 (EDT)
