'''Age of the Four Clans''', is an up and coming multiplayer online roleplaying game ([[Wikipedia:MMORPG|MMORPG]]) developed by EVOLV Games. The game is free to play and currently in open Beta. It is unique among 2D MMO games in its utilization of anthropomorphic [[dinosaurs]] as its main cast.

== Storyline and Overview ==

The four [[Raptor]] clans of the ancient Earth always held an uneasy alliance with one another. After a meteor devastated the Deathclaw Clan and unleashed strange creatures upon the planet, truces were made in order to find answers and return the world to order. The slime, a bizarre life form which oozed forth from the impact site, quickly spread to all corners of Laurasia, mutating native species and trashing the delicate ecology everywhere it appeared - threatening a mass extinction of all life on Earth.

You take on the role of a Raptor, choosing one of three clans as your starting "class":

*The Lightwalkers - A sect of highly intelligent Raptors who take on the role of warrior class. They are fair minded and have always sought peace between the tribes. Their magicks are typically based on hard-hitting earth spells and they sometimes wear tough hides as armor.

*The Bloodfuries - The largest clan of Raptors, these fast and nimble creatures are the rogues and assassins of Raptor society. Some practice fire magick and most like to adorn themselves with feathers and light armor decoration.

*The Spectres - These are mysterious Raptors who are well-versed in magick. They are natural healers and warlocks, calling on nature spells to do their bidding. Some fashion armor from the bones of their enemies, which they believe grants the wearer with further power.

*The Deathclaw - Large Raptor brutes who believe themselves to be kings among the other clans. Deathclaws use their great strength and powerful ice magicks to great effect. Some even fashion and wear heavy armor made of stone. Their home and their kind were nearly completely destroyed in the meteor strike known as The World Shattering. Players will not be able to select Deathclaw as a class initially, but there may be ways to become one, in game...

== Release Schedule ==

The game opened its Alpha 1.3 version on a public test realm in January 2016. In order to secure better server space and wait out the latest version of the Intersect Engine which the game runs on, the development team took the game offline in June 2016. It returned in December 2016 and a new public test realm with updated content went live.

A4C limited Beta was released on August 31, 2017 in conjunction with the open Alpha. In January of 2018, Beta 2.0 was opened to the same limited audience on a new server hosted by the same team responsible for the game's engine, Intersect Hosting Solutions. Spring of 2018 slowly onboarded new players to the Beta, and by the end of the year, the server was completely open to the public.

The game was upgraded to Intersect's version 6 in January 2020, along with new GUI, better stability and network access. A4C is currently running version 2.0.2 of its open Beta.

== History ==

According to artist, [[Chordsy]], the game was originally launched as a 3D MMORPG in 2007. Its title was simply "Raptor". Though there was significant interest in the game, particularly by the furry community, due to lack of funding the game was never released. It was decided in 2015 that the game would be revived as a 2D MMO, since the hardware to run such a game was more affordable and the time taken to render the world less time consuming.

== Server hardware ==

Age of the Four Clans' PTR is currently hosted on a dynamic cloud server running Ubuntu 16.04.
The game was previously hosted on a single Intel Core 2 Duo CPU running Windows Server.

'''KainCon''' was a gaming oriented meet held in the greater Washington, D.C. area. It last took place September 29th through October 1st, 2007 at the Holiday Inn in [[Wikipedia:Tysons Corner, Virginia|Tysons Corner, Virginia]].

KainCon is intended as a get away, a place for people to socialize and have fun. KainCon has no formal programming and attendees are encouraged to plan their own activities with others, sometimes in advance via KainCon's own message board and mailing list. Some activities involve, but are not limited to LAN parties, console gaming, sketch parties, room parties, excursions into D.C., food runs, and more.

KainCon is currently run by [[Sir Kain]] and [[Sage Jackal]].

== History ==
In 1996, SirKain decided to hold a small get-together at his house as a means to meet several furries whom he'd become acquainted with via MUCKs, art commissions, and other anthropomorphics-related endeavors. The gathering was named KainCon by its attendees, and that name seemed to stay.

KainCon held most of its activities in the basement of Kain’s parents' home. Every KainCon boasted an intimate, friendly atmosphere where attendees could enjoy drawing, computer games (He had the house networked with Ethernet), video games (Like tournaments in Tekken or SoulBlade games and related), a trip to Washington D.C., AD&D campaigns, and more. Despite having no formal programming, the event was praised for its easy-going atmosphere and spontaneity, making it feel like a reunion of friends or a chummy meet-and-greet, despite hosting dozens of attendees through the weekend. Too, Non-furs were welcome to attend KainCon, and its relaxed mood combined with ''anything goes'' scheduling allowed the event to be inclusive towards anthro fans and non-fans alike.

KainCon seemed to grow with each passing year. The first KainCon in 1996 hosted roughly ten attendees, KainCon2 in 1997 had 17 in total, and KainCon3 in 1998 had more than 20 persons and a LAN setup consisting of 16 computers through the weekend. KainCon4 in 1999 was the first of these conventions to have an AD&D campaign, and the LAN party boasted over 20 computers.

In its infancy, Kain hosted one KainCon a year. After returning home from college, he decided to try hosting two per year: One in May, the other in November. It worked out well for a time, but soon KainCon grew too large a venue to keep in a single house.

2004 marked the last time KainCon was held in a private residence. Due to a number of issues, 2005 saw no KainCon. In early 2006, KainCon.org was launched and the move to a hotel was announced.

In June 2006, Sir Kain bought a house in Nokesville, VA, where KainCon was held that year. In 2007, KainCon was held at the Holiday Inn in Tyson's Corner, Virginia. Kain has said he prefers ''to keep the 'con' as a house-party like event, not as an official con''.
