context
The YouTube Furry War is a term used to refer to a sharp increase of anti-furry trolling against furries inside or outside of the furry fandom, which began around summer 2007 and is still ongoing. The furry war is notable for the mass hacking of numerous YouTube furry accounts and the amount of awareness to the furry fandom in response to the war.

Overview
[[Image:SokiTwoPaw.png|thumb|Soki Twopaw in his widely mocked video, Ultimatum Declaratum.

From popular opinion, this was suggested to be the catalyst for the YouTube Furry War.]]
Although many theories still circulate as to how the Furry War had begun, it is widely rumored however to have been started by Soki Twopaw who, fed up with the outweighing number of negative and defamatory comments on his videos, promoted the idea of a furry uprising against trolls.

This eventually turned into Ultimatum Declaratum, a video created by Soki to express his disdain and solution about the trolls. Initially, many furries were in favor of the rebellion.

However, this also drew the attention of many trolls who all immediately lampooned such an idea. As a result, many anti-fur YouTube users (not all were necessarily trolls) started to massively spam furry-related videos whether their authors were involved in the conflict or not.

FCTC
This continued for a number of months, until a group calling themselves the FCTC (or the Fried Chicken Trolling Crew) appeared soon after the start of the war with the specific purpose of posting inflammatory comments and hacking furry-related YouTube accounts.

The most notable of these was in late 2007, where a failed phishing attempt was circulated through e-mails and falsified YouTube pages - this was soon halted after allegedly being reported by Wolfee Darkfang; no perpetrators have been caught.

Fall 2007
Between the summer and winter periods of 2007, the war mostly grew into an exchange of videos and comments between various furries and the FCTC with some major events breaking the monotony such as the hacking and vandalism of several YouTube pages, MySpace accounts, and website of Silentwulf and a furry invasion of 7chan on September 2nd.
Administrators on the Silentwulf site were able to lock-down the site, and track down those responsible. Little information exists on what transpired.

A video series, titled YouTube Furry War, was started by Alexander Grey to specifically counter comments left by trolls in a calm and logical manner; by means to contrast to the usually angry and loathing videos left by enraged furs. The series ran for only a few months, to be succeeded by Furry Guru.

The end
Towards the end of 2007 the war had largely died down for reasons unknown. Other troll accounts had been suspended or deleted by this time. Although many state that the furry war had ended around late December 2007, the war still continues to persist (albeit at a relatively small level).

2010
Phishing attempts are starting again because the N*F*M* or New Furry Movement has given a reaction to trolls to try to fight back.
Good day. I think I do need some help actually.

I tried editing the MILfurs article so that I could insert my own name into the "Military roster" section of the article. However when I followed the way it was done with the users already in there, it added me, but it put my name inside a huge box. And now the list is in the external links section.

I do appreciate any help.
How does someone with regular admin privs like me look up the IP address that a new user registered from? Or is that a capability that is only available to "super-admins" and wikia support? --mwalimu 17:28, 27 June 2009 (UTC)
I'd like to remove Caiwan article from th site, because it's no longer desired.
After the recent vandalism of the wiki article that some one created about myself, I would like it if the article Nightfox would be removed. I don't even know why it was created in the first place.

Reviving Discussion
Wow. This has sat here for quite a while without discussion or change. I think some of the questions posed here now are:
*Is this policy necessary?
*Do we need to create WikiFur versions of Wikipedia policy articles such as Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Verifiability and Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Cite_your_sources, or are their policies similar enough to ours that we can just point to them?

As for the final question on the page, I don't think we need to cite Wikipedia on policy pages unlpess doing so is required by the GFDL.--Duncan da Husky 14:08, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

:We really can't use Wikipedia's policies for WikiFur as its another case where they are too strict for the content WikiFur provides. Taking in account a lot of it is based on fictional or fantasy pieces of work, having a source to cite isn't always possible (in particular when detailing about groups that no longer exist, websites go offline and hosted abandoned groups are eventually purged).
:To a certain extent, WikiFur has to lean slightly more on the policy of Assume good faith (do we have our own simple version of this page somewhere?) and continuing from that, that an article's content is Innocent until proven guilty. So an article needs to remain until a time where someone else can really confirm it or deny it.
:This however isn't always true though as sometimes the likeliness of existence or 'scope' of something can be deemed incorrect without needing to really prove it either way beyond consensus. I can't link exactly, but I remember an article about a Term that suggested that the phrase was widely used by the fandom. No other contributor or administrator beyond the original author however had heard of it before so this was deemed unlikely and the article was reworded to just 'some people'. --Nidonocu - talk 15:00, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

::We don't have verifiability policies unless particularly challeneged by someone to prove that something is true or not (in which case they often get more than they bargain for). We do not require people to cite their sources, though they are welcome to do so if they wish. Although this has come up a few times we don't really have a firm policy on it as yet - it's been decided on a case by case basis. --GreenReaper 23:07, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

We are trying to help furries by getting rid of trolls the only way possible is it so bad? do you enjoy getting trolled? no one does this article is for helpful information to a place that is abundant with furries and i intend to take this further cause i am sick of people who hate and criticize! (elementemblem)

Whatabout 'citations' by source of info, not just publication?
It seems to me that, as others have said, verifiability in Wikipedia's sense is unworkable here as an overall requirement. And unless I've underestimated the number of coherent contributors, I have serious doubts about consensus forming being a sufficient mechanism here even if that's what we'd like to see. GR's case-by-case sounds to me like it essentially means the entire burden of verifiability rests on his, and perhaps a few other administrators', shoulders. I don't think that's necessarily a doomed approach, but I think it has issues, not the least of which are the several reasons it might be undesirable to have wikifur be, or appear to be, essentially something that a pawfull of people vouch for. I wouldn't want to be Green, et al, in this case.

Perhaps, rather than a strict requirement of citation of things published, an explicit categorization that shows how the information is obtained, whether it is 1) verifiable from reliable published sources, 2) something the author personally claims to have direct experience of, 3) something the author asserts is authorotative because it derives from a consensus of specifically identified contributors... ? This does at least superficially answer the natural question "Sez who?" It also shields GR and others from anybody claiming they've taken autocratic control of content, except if they do so. --Furthling 03:53, 7 July 2007 (UTC)

:I tried to flesh out the above a little.:

:I think wikifur would benefit from some kind of systematic way of categorizing content for HOW it was verified, both internal and external, that recognizes all three of the following:

:1. Whether there are reliable publications (peer reviwed, widely regarded, or known to be subject to careful, credible editorial control) that back up some assertion. (The wikipedia standard.)

:2. Whether the subject, the subject's owner/creator, or any witness to the *entire* event or phenomenon, agrees with the assertion. (The witness stanard.)

:3. whether there is a "consensus" among "authorities:" (the "qualified consensus" standard.)
::a) Consensus is more strictly defined as an agreement among at least 2 people expressing a view OR 67% of all persons who have expressed a view, WHICHEVER is GREATER.
::b) authorities are ONLY those persons who are regular, good-faith contributors to wikifur, and or people with a user page that identifies them as an authority on the topic in question, narrowly construed. (The significance of regular contributors as authorities rests in their capacity for checking things by inference and against broad knowledge, combined with a higher expectation of good faith. This is contrary to any assumption of good faith policy.)

:These three criteria, taken together, IMO present a formalized alternative to Wikipedia's reliance (solely) on equal presentation of all views published by sufficiently popular sources, suitable to Wikifur.

:IN PRACTICE
:Forms of verification would refer either to the published source, the name of the asserting author or witness, and/or the names of the authorities who've agreed upon it.

:Where NONE of these these criteria are met, the assertion would merit either tagging with "no verification," or removal, at editors discretion (with the understanding that there would be a LONG adjustment process for wikifur where it would be inappropriate to remove information before a lot of new attention was brought to it.)

:Where ONLY ONE of these criteria are met AND IF it is reasonable to suppose that there could be verification in one of the other two categories, tagging with "Citation Needed," "Witness Needed," or "Consensus Needed."

:This standard would include assertions even where one of or more of the forms of verification contradicts it. Instead of contradictory verification leading to the exclusion of an assertion (assuming the assertion has at least one form of verification), the contradicted assertion should be tagged for needing the kind of verification in question, AND a seperate statement made with its supporting verification. This might lead to more stated points of view, but effectively increases the readily available salient information since it identifies the differing sources:

:EXAMPLE 1
:"Furthling is regarded [1] as an advanced wikifur user.{consensus needed} This is strongly disputed. [2]"

:[1] Witness: Furthling
:[2] Consensus: GreenReaper, SpazKitty, Sine.

:EXAMPLE 2
:"Court records [1] reflect Furthling got a parking ticket on the 4th of July 2007 for parking illegally. {witness needed}{consensus needed} The Dayton Ironclaw Group[2], who are familiar with Furthling, asserts that he has never driven a car and always sleeps through the 4th of July holiday. {witness needed}{citation needed} Furthling [3] claims he drove and parked his car on the 4th of July 2007 but did not recieve a parking ticket. {citation needed}{consensus needed}."
It's definitely notable. Many trolls and furries were involved. It was these groups' main focus on YouTube for a period of time. Wolfee and associates created at least one (possibly two or more) "FurryOps" secret forums in which Wolfee, Tamias and their flamewar gang planned to send pizza deliveries to trolls' doorsteps and put child pornography on their computers, among other things. I'm pretty sure one of the trolls even faked his own death. If it doesn't belong here, it should have its own article.
:: The YouTube Furry War and Wolfeedarkfang's flame war is not the same "war." This is how it started: Around February or so a troll was conversing with a furry about zoophilia(I think might have been the subject), and the furry came out that they were a zoophile. The troll made a screenshot of the comment and made a YouTube video. Two other trolls picked up on it, if I remember right, and made a vids of their own. Wolfeedarkfang made a Youtube bulletin asking to flag the three users so YT would ban them. That really was the igniter of the flame war you see today. The trolls say they were suspicious to why he would defend a zoophile. Trolls say they Googled Wolfeedarkfang and found an account on a bestiality website by the name of Wolfeedarkfang, registered in 2005. Wolfee says it's a troll account, and that the trolls time hacked the webite to frame him. It had a snowball effect that lasted for I don't know how long. As you see, this has nothing to do with what happened back in late 2007. ::"It's definitely the same war, same furries making videos, same group of trolls attacking them. I don't think it ever stopped."

:: No, it’s not the same war. This article is about the YouTube Furry War; not the Wolfeedarkfang flamewar. You want to put them in the same pot. Lets please keep the article relevant. I know you like Wolfeedarkfang, but this article is not about him or the situation with him at YT. I'm sorry. --FoxyMicFox9.0 22:23, 26 December 2008 (UTC)

Also I'm removing the part about the end of the war until the dates can be verified. 210.246.49.240 05:55, 4 January 2009 (UTC)

You have to remeber it's a flame war about wolfeedarkfang; not about furries. --FoxyMicFox9.0 05:03, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

:: BTW."removing section, dates cannot be verified" And you can not verify that the same war is still going on. This article shouldn't even be here imo. It's a documentation of drama that happened over a year ago. I guess we got to compete with Encyclopedia Dramatica. *rolls eyes* --FoxyMicFox9.0 05:15, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
<s>I am now contesting the current information pertaining to this topic.</s>--Jammingthefates 06:29, 3 September 2009 (UTC)
:: I had a feeling that the recent edit would pertain to the <i>quote, unquote</i> <b>Furry War II</b>. As I requested before (see above), I wished to debate with the contributors about this article. More specifically, the recent drama and about this latest spark that supposedly started a new war on YouTube. My debacle is quite simple: How is this memorandum from two furries, who complain about the trolls and seek to take matters into their own hands, anything related to news or even attention-worthy of creating a new section on the YouTube Furry War article at all? I have observed both sides of the battlefield for quite a long time now, and some of the information placed in this article is nothing even close towards what is really going on. Also, someone please tell me how there is all of a sudden a second Furry War?--Jammingthefates 00:10, 6 September 2009 (UTC)
Hey this is elementemblem412 from the article. me and MrD are really stoked someone took notice to our work and we are hoping we can get rid of those freedom hating trolls and we are taking a big hit to defend your rights as people to be who they wanna be my link is
you can talk to me further on there.

Speaking of Encyclopaedia Dramatica, they have an entirely different take on "the war" and consider the Wolfee situation to be part of it. However I am highly reluctant to use Encyclopaedia Dramatica for research as I do not trust them when it comes to furry matters (or any matters) and the article is edited by trolls. If you are a user of Encyclopaedia Dramatica then you can discuss it there.

I'm still pretty sure that the war didn't end beacuse of the Scientology campaign, that didn't start until 2008. I'm removing that part, but I'll leave the rest in.

I agree with you about this article, it should be merged into the main YouTube article and a section should be added about the Wolfee situation. By the way, I checked the archive of one of Wolfee's secret vigilante forums (at furryops.patrioticnigras.org), and I was wrong about their tactics. No forum users ever mentioned pizza deliveries. The idea for planting child porn was Furgryphon/Kathera Lockhart's. 210.246.49.122 23:24, 19 January 2009 (UTC)
