AnthrOhio is a furry convention in Columbus, Ohio, held between 2003 and 2015 as Morphicon. The most recent event had 342 registered attendees.

__NOTOC__
History
Morphicon began during a trip to have dinner and see The Lion King in February 2003. By the end of the evening, it had been resolved that there needed to be a local convention.

Morphicon Zero, "The Zeroth Iteration", occurred June 21, 2003 as a furry all-day picnic held in Sharon Woods Park on the north side of Columbus, OH. Attendance was approximately 40. This picnic continues to be run in September of each year in addition to a yearly convention in May.

After Morphicon 2015, the convention was rebranded to AnthrOhio to symbolize "recent shifts in staff and programming" and to distinguish the event from Power Rangers convention Power Morphicon. A. Wolf resigned from the Board in January 2008 due to personal time commitments. C. Smith (Max Goof) formally resigned from the board, and as convention chair, in 2008.

The Morphicon Board of Directors consistedwhen of Akea, Columbus Jim, Edward Hyena, and Snap.

The Morphicon Corporation had federal 501(c)(7) non-profit status.

Furry Connection North 2008

Edward Hyena: Post con edits.

Furry Connection North or FCN is a convention first held on April 11-13, 2008 at the Best Western Executive Plaza in Ann Arbor, Michigan, U.S.A.

The first year's guest of honor was MixedCandy Productions (Latin Vixen and Adam Fisher). Programming included performances by Uncle Kage and 2 the Ranting Gryphon, a live recording of 2 Sense, and an "Alcohol Appreciation" panel led by Kage, 2, and Jibba Foxcoon. Dances were held on all three nights featuring a powerful sound system and laser effects, as well as a full laser show on Sunday night.

The focus of the convention was on giving the event a big party feel while still including traditional convention elements. In addition to traditional convention programming on their main stage there was a "Make Your Own Programming" room in which people signed up to use the room to discuss whatever topics they like. The convention featured a video gaming room and a board gaming room, which hosted tournaments for poker, pool, Rock Band, and Dance Dance Revolution as well as open gaming. The convention hotel also had a large atrium which was used for hang out space as well as allowing artists to draw badges and sketches without signed up in the dealer's room. The hotel was designed such that many of the guest rooms opened directly into the lobby or atrium.

For attendees who registered for the event as sponsors, humorously being referred to as “pimps,” a special sponsors lounge with snacks, warm meals, slushes, soda, and beer on tap was available.

2 the Ranting Gryphon posted that "Gir (the con chair) and I came up with the idea for FCN because we wanted to show some furs a good time."

Dealers for 2008 included: Arikla, Branwyn, BrerBadger, Bushycat, Diana Stein, Heather Bruton, Jaeger Fuchs, Lascivus Lutra, Mary Mouse, Swiftkill and Tod Wills.

The event sold out its hotel for Saturday night, and reached an attendance of 372 by the closing ceremonies. The Saturday morning fursuit parade had 57 participants. It has been announced that the con will return in 2009 with the Prohibition as a theme. More details will be available soon.

MIFur

2008-03-22T06:29:46Z

Edward Hyena:

MIFur is a social group founded in the mid 1990s that consists mainly of fans and lifestylers in Michigan. The group has grown to include those who are from Michigan originally, those who live in neighboring states, or just people who want to talk to other members, know as "MIFurs". The group has an open membership policy, and anyone who wishes to participate in the community is welcome to do so.

Main points of content in the past have been a mailing list maintained by Gir Tygrin and a LiveJournal Community maintaintained by Gir Tygrin, Nik Vulper, and Wildfox.

In April 2007, Gir Tygrin created a website to function as a new main point of contact between furs : MichiganFurs.com. The website is a constant work in progress, currently featuring forums, a chat, an event calendar, photo gallery, and email. The website has grown to include more than 370 members in it's first year of existence.

The largest social gatherings for the MIFur group are monthly furmeets organized by Gir Tygrin. Usual events include dinner at a local restaurant, miniature golf, bowling, or outdoor events at the park. A majority of these events are focused on the Ann Arbor area. Other meets are organized by members and information is posted on the website or livejournal.

In 2008 some members of MIFur decided to organize a Furry Connection North. The inaugural event will be held in Ann Arbor on April 11-13, 2008.
