WikiFur is edited by a collegial body of contributors. While anyone can contribute, certain technical powers are restricted to prevent abuse.

These powers are exercised by curators, who lead article development, advise on policy and implement consensus-based community decisions.

Colleagues and curators
Colleagues are trusted users who can protect and delete articles, block and rename users, and make site-wide changes of the kind normally reserved to administrators.

Contributors become colleagues through sustained collaborative activity in accordance with WikiFur's shared purpose - editing articles, helping other users, and resolving policy questions. Once there is consensus to name them a colleague (as determined by a bureaucrat), they retain that status until they resign or are removed through consensus.

Colleagues willing and able to assist others are called curators. No colleague is required to serve as a curator; if real life intervenes, they may step back, and resume duties later.

The curator's role
WikiFur uses the terms curator and colleague to emphasize editorial duties and consensus-based decisions.

A curator's primary goal is to improve content and its presentation. Their secondary goal is to act as mentors and examples to other contributors.

Curators are not universal experts, nor is it their job to 'determine truth' in a content dispute. They may act as mediators, but are not required to.

Other roles
*Some colleagues are also bureaucrats, who can merge users, grant or revoke user privileges, and hide revisions.
*Custodians act as active colleagues and bureaucrats on language editions which lack them (cf. steward).
*Conservators can block users, rollback changes, and delete files and pages, primarily to deal with incidents of vandalism.
*Contributors who patrol recent changes may request rollback rights individually to revert clear vandalism. (rollback users)

When to talk to a curator
On a wiki, you are expected to work with others to make decisions, collectively determining site policy. If in doubt, do what you think is right, leaving a descriptive edit summary and a note on the talk page. If nobody disagrees, all is well. If not, work with them to figure out a solution.

If you don't know how to do something, have a personal conflict which you can't resolve, or feel a page should be protected or deleted, contact a curator by leaving a message on their talk (discussion) page or sending them an email. Check recent changes to see who's around - failing that, talk to GreenReaper. (You can also try WikiFur chat, but please be patient.)

The Furry Convention Leadership Roundtable (FCLR) is an association of furry conventions. The group holds meetings in the tradition of SMOFcon in the science fiction fandom to facilitate communication between its members, as well as maintaining a mailing list, chat server, and website. Event organizations may submit up to three representatives for the mailing list and annual events, and must have a signed venue contract and 100 actual or planned attendees to join.

FCLR's organizers claim it is "not the Illuminati" but "a helpful bunch of furs that are here to help us keep the fandom the amazing place it was always meant to be". Conversely, some members have called it "the furry illuminati association"; others describe it as "like Twelve Angry Men, except a buncha damn furries deciding the fate of the badge prep process or the con suite sandwiches".

The FCLR also maintains a Slack server, a chat service with sub-groups that include (but are not limited to) publications, hotels, art shows, dealers, IT, and registration. Membership is open to all furry convention staff and organizers.

Background
Following several years of discussion with the senior staff of various furry conventions, Takaza J. Wolf organized the first FCLR. The intention was to create a relaxed atmosphere where various topics of convention running could be discussed in a round-table format (or as close as can be achieved with square tables). Topics of discussion would range widely, including convention marketing, hotel contract negotiation, events organization and the vagaries of incorporation. To prevent the discussion from being dominated by any one organization, the decision was made to have no more than three representatives from each convention (and their significant others), though it was up to each convention which staff members to invite.

The original intention was that, like SMOFcon, each year a different group or organization sponsors the event, and the location will rotate throughout the United States and Canada. Following FCLR 2010, the decision was made the attendees to adopt a two-year rotation schedule instead. Invitations to the event are sent to every furry convention in the United States and Canada with an attendance of more than 100.

One of the group's ground rules is not to discuss event pricing, although other financial topics feature prominently, along with staff/volunteer management, hotel relations, interactions with news and social media, mature content, handling misbehaving attendees, and strategic and disaster planning.

Events
FCLR meetings are held both at and separate from furry conventions, with representatives attending in person or via teleconference. On at least one occasion, hosting bids have been submitted and voted on by members. Events traditionally conclude with a discussion of convention horror stories.

Midwest FurFest (commonly abbreviated as MFF) is the world's largest furry convention with an attendance of 10,989 in 2018. It is held annually in Rosemont, Illinois. The convention has been running as a separate entity since 2000.

History
Midwest FurFest got its start as the furry track for Duckon, a Chicago-based science fiction convention. The furry track was started at Duckon 3 in 1994 and was headed up by Robert King. The track grew larger each year and it was estimated that by Duckon 8 (1999) between one-quarter and one-third of the attendees were there due to interest in the furry track.

The track ran into problems because it was running out of room to expand without costing other parts of Duckon programming space and time. It was decided that the best course of action was to spin off into a new convention.

Thus Midwest Furry Fandom, Inc. was created and Midwest FurFest was born, to take place in November 2000, on
the weekend before Thanksgiving. The parting was amicable, and Duckon lent a good bit of expertise and manpower to help make the first year of Midwest FurFest a success.

Since then, the convention has grown from 473 attendees in 2000 to 10,989 in 2018, making it the largest furry convention in the world surpassing the previous title holder Anthrocon in registered attendance in 2017. It has helped raise over $285,276 for various charities.

Midwest FurFest is a production of Midwest Furry Fandom, Inc., which holds Midwest Furfest and furfest as service marks.

The official Twitter account of Midwest FurFest advises attendees to post on Twitter using the hashtag "#FurFest", as many other conventions are abbreviated MFF, one of which takes place at around the same time. Previously, Midwest FurFest suggested using the "#MWFF" hashtag, for the same reason.

Takaza first found the furry fandom in 1995 through his interest in The Lion King. He joined TLKMUCK and FDCMuck soon after, and subsequently FurryMUCK and Furtoonia. On Furtoonia, he learned of ChiFur, a mailing list for furs in his area, and became active with the Chicago-area furry group which is known today as the Lake Area Furry Friends. This led to his working with Robert King at Duckon 7 and 8 (1998-1999).

He was one of the creators of BaltoMUCK, playing Balto, a wizard there, and was part owner of foxfur.com where it was hosted.

Fursona
Finding a close affinity to Border Collies while having to 'herd' Midwest FurFest staff members, Takaza's fursona changed from a wolf to a border collie in 2003, though he kept Wolf as a last name. The J. in his name stood for Jenna, a reference to the movie Balto. His character was a female non-anthropomorphic border collie.

Takaza was a member of both the Board of Directors and staff of Midwest FurFest since its inception, serving as Hotel Liaison (2000, 2006 - 2009), Publications Director (2000 - 2003, 2006 - 2007), and Convention Chairman (2004 - 2005, 2010 - 2011). He also served as Newsletter Editor for Anthrocon (2003 - 2005), and managed the Anthrocon Cash Office from 2002 - 2010. Additionally, he was Dealers Room Director at Mephit Furmeet in 2001 and was part of Operations staff at Further Confusion in 2014.

Furry Convention Leadership Roundtable

DuncanDaHusky: Update with information for FCLR 2011 and 2012.

The Furry Convention Leadership Roundtable (or FCLR) is an annual convention held for the organization of furry conventions in the tradition of SMOFcon in the science fiction fandom.

Background
Following several years of discussion with the senior staff of various furry conventions, Takaza J. Wolf organized the first FCLR. The intention was to create a relaxed atmosphere where various topics of convention running could be discussed in a roundtable format. Topics of discussion would range from convention marketing to hotel contract negotiation to events organization to the vagaries of incorporation.

Invitations to the event are sent to every furry convention in the United States and Canada with an attendance of more than 100 people.

FCLR 2010
The first FCLR was held at the Hampton Inn and Suites in Lincolnshire, Illinois from April 30 - May 2, 2010. It was attended by representatives from Anthrocon, IndyFurCon, Furry Connection North, Midwest FurFest, Rainfurrest, and the Dorsai Irregulars. Topics of discussion included: Construction of feedback surveys, Hotel negotiations, working with the media, membership suspensions, A/V setups and how to best utilize them, budgeting and financial management, age and minor issues, convention marketing and branding, and convention horror stories.

FCLR 2011
The second FCLR took place at the same Hampton Inn and Suites as the prior year from April 29 - May 1, 2011. It was attended by representatives from Anthrocon, IndyFurCon, Midwest FurFest, Further Confusion, Western Pennsylvania Furry Weekend, and the Dorsai Irregulars. Discussion topics included: Anatomy of a Public Relations Issue, Making the Media Work for You, Where and How to Market Your Convention, and Dealer's Room and Artists' Alley: A Dealer's Point of View. Many side discussions arose on the topics of elevator management, techniques for badging minors, writing an effective Code of Conduct, and convention emergency procedures.

FCLR 2012
The location of the third FCLR is still being determined, though it will occur in early May, 2012.

Note
"Administrator" is a bit of a misnomer - the people listed above are simply users that have fewer limitations on what they can do, in order to make it easier for them to edit WikiFur, and to enforce community-agreed policies.

You are expected to make many decisions normally reserved to administrators, including collectively deciding exactly what these policies should be. If in doubt, do what you think is right and leave a note on the discussion page, making sure to write a descriptive edit summary.

On the other hand, if you really do not know how to proceed, don't know how to do something, have a personal conflict which you can't resolve, or need a whole page protected or deleted, you should contact an administrator. Typically the best way to do this is their user talk (discussion) pages. Check recent changes to see who's around - failing that, talk to GreenReaper. If it's a critical matter and there's nobody there, you could also try Wikifur chat.

Guests of Honor
The Guests of honor were fursuit performer Lucky the Evil Dog, artist Darc, writer Matt Sowers of Code Name: Hunter, and artist Foxfeather.

Convention charity
The convention raised $15,000 for the convention charity, Rainbow Animal Assisted Therapy.

Location
The date and the location of the convention were reserved for the closing ceremonies of Midwest FurFest 2007., where it was announced by a video created by Cheetah that the convention would be moving to a new venue, as function space at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield was limited, attendance had grown rapidly, and the main hotel and its overflow were getting tight on rooms.

The new location is approximately 15 miles from the old venue. It has significantly more function space, although fewer rooms. The dates and room rates are locked in for three years, although both the convention or hotel have the option to cancel the contract each year.

Notes
*On the 1st night of the convention, Nov 21st 2008, everyone from both the hotel and Convention Center were forced to evacuate after the fire alarms were set off, indicating a possible fire. After an investigation, it was found someone decided to smoke in their hotel room which was designed as a non-smoking area, unintentionally causing the smoke detectors to set off, which in turn set off the fire alarms in both venues. Everyone was eventually allowed back in after standing outside in the frigid 28 degree weather for up to half an hour.

*Due to space limitations, the Artists Alley had somewhat fewer tables than were available the previous year. A lottery system, which had been successfully implemented the previous year and was similar to that used for Anthrocon's Artists Alley, was used to distribute seats in the Alley.

*The art show featured 1,066 works by 68 artists. 524 pieces were sold, with 53 going to art auction. Total revenue from the show was $22,928.

Utatu was the largest of the prides on The Lion King MUCK, running from approximately early 1998 to June 21, 2007, ruled by the lion Mtunga. At its peak it easily boasted over 50 members. Unfortunately, time and dwindling connections reduced the activity in the lands to a small few until the wizards disbanded the pride in 2007.

Note that "administrator" is a bit of a misnomer - the people listed above are simply users that have fewer limitations on what they can do, in order to make it easier for them to edit WikiFur, and to enforce community-agreed policies.

Sky Oxford

DuncanDaHusky: Cat change; while originally from Mississippi, subject now resides in Bellingham, Washington

Sky Oxford (also Sky Rigdon) is an artist and writer from Biloxi, Mississippi known for his contributions to Tales of the Tai-Pan Universe and his large-format digital prints. He has also lived in Ocean Springs, MS and various cities in Washington State: most recently in Bellingham where he lives with his wife, Judy Oxford, and two cats: Beesh and Scooter.

Though he enjoys working in watercolors and digital media, Sky's favorite tools are pen and ink, so most of his furry art is produced in black and white with crosshatching, stippling, and other texturing techniques used to provide depth and lighting effects. At a young age, Sky was impressed by the ink art of Aubrey Beardsley, and began drawing furries in a similar mode; he also enjoys drawing in the Ukiyo-e style. Among his early furry influences are the two movies The Secret of NIMH and Disney's Robin Hood. Sky also likes the writing of Chuck Melville (the Felicia novels in particular), Blacksad, and Vicky Wyman's Xanadu series. From time to time he has attempted to adopt either a snow leopard or an otter as his fursona, but has always given it up as unprofitable, often calling himself a "fringer" in the fandom.

Some of Sky's other interests include Orientalism, Buddhist art, the occult, and advertising art from the 1900s to the 1940s, but above all Sky loves music and incorporates it into nearly every aspect of his life. Sky has taken a few art classes but learned most of his skill from years of practice and from other artists (notably, Anthony Waters). Sky's art has not, traditionally, sold very well at conventions, but he is not bothered by this because he views his furry artwork as a hobby he indulges for his personal enrichment, not the money. Sky pays the bills by working as an illustrator in La Conner, Washington, but hopes one day to open his own art supply store.

He regularly attends Norwescon.

DuncanDaHusky: Reason for Dubious tag

Wow, this one needs a lot of work to bring it into line. I'm not saying a whitewash is necessary, but could we at least make an attempt at NPOV? ----DuncanDaHusky(talk) 14:23, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Hatchet job
This article is a major character assassination piece. This does not read like a person's entry, more like a libelfest.

The article should be split into "Divefox" (the person,) "Divefox and the Judge Mathis show" entries, really, to be fair. Insinuation is so high, and reference is so lacking, it's bordering on illegal (major linkage needed,... Anybody at AC can confirm the banning?.)

Jeez H,... could the initial have been more "subtle" on the POV angle >.< Still needs major work. Any other thoughts Spirou 15:12, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

: Around five years ago, the people Dive "stole" from continually spammed the OhioFur and ARF mailing lists with anti-Divefox "warnings". They gave him credit card access, room and board, and then complained when he never paid them back. In other words, they allowed someone to take advantage of them, and still haven't gotten over it.

: Loaning people money or property is always a risk. Furries seem to think that everyone they meet should be as trustworthy as a saint, and it baffles me. I don't think that legal accusations should be a part of WikiFur, but then there's the whole Sibe page thing (though it at least has references to actual crimes). --Trickster Wolf 15:15, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

: Yes, I can confirm that he was banned from Anthrocon in 2001. --Douglas Muth 16:18, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

The confirmation from the convention is a fine reference.

But do second-hand posts from the Livejournal community "truthaboutdive", set up specifically for the purpose of defaming DiveFox (who has no criminal record, to my knowledge), baselessly accusing him of being a child molester and a stalker, count as "references"?

People may get the mistaken impression that I want to defend DiveFox. I don't. I don't know him well, and I don't care to. I'm simply troubled by the way that WikiFur is being used as a vehicle to attack unpopular furries by spreading rumors, gossip, and personal information in a public forum. At some point, speculating about someone's fetishes isn't appropriate for the biography of a still-living person.

Trickster

--Trickster Wolf 05:58, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

: Actually, the purpose of that group is for people to share real life experiences with him. If you think he is being defamed, please bring the offending posts to the attention of the group owner, and he'll remove them, along with the individual who posted them.

: While perhaps the part of this post which calls him a pedophile is a bit inappropriate, the rest of that post looks like a first account of the poster's experience with Divefox, which I believe is a proper reference.

: I also disagree with the assertion that we are "spreading rumors". Spreading rumors would amount to putting up articles that have no sources. That's part of the reason why I have gone to the time and trouble to dig up sources for this article, and either remove or flag statements which are unsourced. --Douglas Muth 17:53, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

:They should be used as references for these people's opinions, without necessarily implying that what they say is the truth (if there is a generally accepted fact then I guess this might change, but any counter-arguments should be stated). It should be made clear who is saying what, especially if there is controversy over the facts. This should probably look similar to pages like Galen and Bart Bervoets. --GreenReaper(talk) 20:15, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

::And yet, other people's "opinions" don't turn up in the biographies of popular furries, such as (just for an extreme example) Dr. Conway, even when public knowledge in the fandom includes many things that are selectively unlisted in the bio. Artist's pseudonyms, alts, and real names rarely appear in bios in cases where an artist would clearly object to their loss of anonymity. I suppose it's possible that popular furries' bios simply haven't been vandalized by rumor posts, but if there is a safeguard, it seems to be applied selectively.

::It's easy to put, "Some people accuse this person of <blank>," in a bio. It's also libel if you suggest it might be true in print when it isn't confirmed and could damage someone's reputation. This is why Wikipedia keeps a strict list of standards on living biographies that absolutely forbid rumor and accusations to surface. There's no mention of the gerbil rumor on Richard Gere's biography (though there is a link to it on externals, to the Snopes site disconfirming it), and no mention of Jamie Lee Curtis's suspected XY chromosome status on hers. Those issues get discussed on the talk page; they aren't allowed on the bio, because they're not confirmed by an authority source.

::In any event, accusing someone of being a pedophile, even by adding the ubiquitous Wikipedia "Some people say..." before it, is about the most serious charge you can make of someone socially. A more NPOV way of doing it would be to say, "DiveFox was reportedly involved in an incident where he accompanied a minor runaway across state lines on a public bus. Law enforcement authorities later determined that no crime was committed, and no charges were filed." That's a lot better (and far more accurate) than, "Some say DiveFox is a pedophile."

::Trickster --Trickster Wolf 05:19, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

:::Right, it is easy to say "some people", which is why it shouldn't be used. Conversely, I still don't see the problem with saying "person X says this", which is what I meant when I said "those people's opinions", and why I specified "who says what" needed to be included. It's then easy for people to say "do I really give a damn about what person X thinks?" I'm guessing for every one person who doesn't like Dr. Conway, there are five or ten others who would be more than glad to disagree. Can DiveFox say the same? --GreenReaper(talk) 06:57, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

::::I don't know what people actually believe. I doubt that many people with opinions about specific furries (such as those with opinions on Dr. Conway) actually know them on a personal level well enough to make such claims. That's the problem with infamy. The fact that you seem to be defending the idea that popularity = truth is a restatement of my original problem.

::::I don't like using WikiFur as a gossip column for popular rumours about someone's sexual proclivities, mental health, family problems, or other deeply personal information; regardless as to how many furs are jumping on the rumor bandwagon or how unpopular the person is. I find it distasteful, and it may be libelous enough to get the site shut down, were anyone to actually pay money for a good lawyer. I think pages should limit themselves to issues of public record, not hearsay or innuendo. These are just my opinions, but unlike my typical soapboxing I actually feel pretty strongly about this. I've had bad experiences with reputation and furry and furry-haters in the past, more so than most furries. I may be "popular" enough to be extended more courtesies than someone like Sibe, but you never know how long something like that will last. I want to be part of a community where I can feel safe and know I have some control over how much information I share about myself. Furry is notoriously bad at discretion.

::::Trickster --Trickster Wolf 20:23, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

::::: So what consitutes public record? LiveJournal entries look pretty public to me.
::::: On the subject of libel, if we were posting rumors and opinions about people, THEN we might be on the hook for libel. However, that's not what we're doing. We are citing other sources which have made those accusations and merely reporting on that. We are, in essence, a publisher who is reporting on what others are saying. Not unlike a real world encyclopedia or newspaper.
::::: This is the same reason why newspapers all over the world were not sued by Michael Jackson when they reported on the sex abuse allegations against him. The newspapers were not making that accusation, rather they were reporting on the fact that another individual did. --Douglas Muth 21:53, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

:::::Popularity is not truth. But there are usually good reasons for that popularity. Conversely, if a person is infamous, there is usually a reason for that, too. Truth trumps any amount of public opinion, if you can provide proof. If you cannot, then all you can state is attributed opinions, or nothing. We have decided in some cases that it is better to state something rather than nothing, on the basis that some information is usually better than no information.

:::::We do appreciate that such information can be misleading . . . but in general, I like to think WikiFur actually does far better than most sources of information, and can in fact help reduce the amount of drama out there by laying out the statements of each party side by side in an attempt to represent them both fairly. People notice when we succeed. This is rarely done elsewhere, since the only people who tend to write about a person are that person (or their supporters), or their detractors. Either can start an article on WikiFur, but they don't get sole ownership of it as they would with LiveJournal. --GreenReaper(talk) 03:09, 24 December 2006 (UTC)

Not a Personal Attack, but simply a Warning
I, like most people believe in second chances, but Dive has done a lot of really bad things. He is guilty of all that he has been accuse of and much, much more. He has been given every opportunity that a person could be given and multitudes of "Second Chances" with the same repeated outcome every time consistently. I don't see this page as a personal attack, but simply as a warning of what this fur has don and capable of doing and what he will do again.
I'm not saying that it is up to Wikifur to be judge, jury and executioner. True, the original document was geared a bit dramatically, but was just in it's infancy. Now that it is here and more refined it seems to be serving it's original intention of simply warning others of a potential hazard. Wikifur is a really useful tool and for researching the fandom, it's good points and the bad. If we tear down this page then we are denying future possible victims about this fur. And at that point we might as well tear down the article about Sibe, the Burned Furs, the Rotten Furs, the Baby Furs and anything else controversial.
The current document has been changed quite a bit from it's original version. The original didn't have nearly as much condemning evidence against Dive. There was only the Judge Mathis video and the fact that he had been banned from Anthrocon. This means that apparently other furs have had a problem with Dive. That alone warrens such a page as this. It's not the personal attack of a single fur on another, but a collaboration of several furs who have had similar experiences with a single bad fur.
I for one admire Trickster. Not only is she a good furson, but also open minded. She is also highly intelligent and an excellent debater. The sad fact though is that if 10 people (and trust me, Dive has offended and harmed a hell of a lot more than just 10) says that Dive is a snake then the man is obviously a snake and other people need to be warned before they too are bitten. 65.60.208.189

: Actually, the purpose of Wikifur is not to "warn" people. It is simply to be an encyclopedia of all things furry, which includes both the good and the bad.
: That being said, if you know of any first-hand incidents with this individual (good or bad) that are relavent to the article, I would encourage you to post about them to a blog or website so that we may then use the posts as additional references for this article. Thanks! --Douglas Muth 18:13, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

DiveFox (also known as William Shaw, Jamie Forius, FireBall, and InkPalion) is a furry fan best known for his appearance on the reality TV show, Judge Mathis.

Show appearance
Divefox appeared on Judge Mathis court show when Brady and Cloudtamer took him on the show in 2004 for alleged back rent, and for damages to Brady's vehicle, a '97 green Ford Contour, which DiveFox wrecked while on a trip to "rescue" a third, underaged, fur. DiveFox counter sued for damage to the hood of his truck, loss of oil, and missing Toshiba Satellite laptop.

During the proceedings the story was told of the car wreck where DiveFox totaled Brady's car, and it was revealed that DiveFox asked a paramedic to retrieve his laptop. It was then that Judge Mathis made a joke which became the now popular catch phrase, "Don't Forget My Internet."

Controversy
DiveFox has been accused of meeting unsuspecting furs on the internet, befriending them, and convincing them to let him move in with them. Once established within the fur's home, he would allegedly refuse to get a job or pay bills, before moving on.

DiveFox has been accused of relations with minors , stalking other furs, and physical assault. He was banned from Anthrocon in 2001 for assaulting another fur.
dubious
Divefox offers help but in the end doesn't even hold to his promises. Living with him is not safe for anyone. Especially those with medical conditions. In 2007 he overdrew another furs bank account promising to pay it back. That bank account is now closed and there is no money to be found. There was one fur who lived with him that did go to the hospital but dive only valued a place to stay over the fur's life.

As noted above, fur con is a generic phrase, and even if it wasn't it would have been descriptive. This is probably one reason why AAE doesn't try to enforce it in that manner - the trademark was applied for in 2003, and I think it's safe to say "fur con" was a generic term before then. Trademarking "fur con" would be like trademarking "frosted mini wheats" - you can only do it if you already own the concept almost entirely and can demonstrate others would assume a similar product using that name was your product. --GreenReaper(talk) 04:05, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

: I have seen the term used a number of times in which is was NOT referring to Further Confusion:
:So yeah... I'd say the term has fallen into the pubic domain by now... --Douglas Muth 04:13, 23 June 2007 (UTC)

:You can't extend trademarks like that. If the trademark is FURCON, then that is the mark, not a version with a space in it.

:I will admit that the extension of "furcon" to "fur con" was my own interpretation (lest anyone think ill of AAE or anyone else). If that is incorrect, then...well, I'm not surprised. I'm an engineer, not a lawyer :-) I'm not sure I agree 100% on the generic-ness of the term, but that's neither here nor there given the question of extension of the trademark.----DuncanDaHusky(talk) 16:04, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

DuncanDaHusky: +Appropriate; see talk page

Appropriate
An estrus cycle is a cycle similar to human menstrual cycles where animals go into "heat" and their reproductive functions peak. Since virtually all real-life animal females go through the estrus cycle, many female furries choose to consciously roleplay such a cycle when engaging in sexual roleplay. A female may roleplay being "in heat" to initiate a sexual roleplay that involves breeding and, in some cases, beginning a pregnancy. There are many female furs, however, that consciously roleplay a humanoid menstrual cycle. Females that do not consciously do either are assumed (a) to use the estrus cycle and simply not be "in heat" or (b) to use the menstrual cycle and be "on the Pill", as actual breeding and pregnancy roleplay are relatively rare.

Camo: a magical tiger odyssey

Camo: a magical tiger odyssey is a graphic novel-in-progress currently being created by Brent M. Parker, a.k.a. Animagusurreal. Anthropomorphisization is about on the level of The Lion King - the characters are sentient, but are quadrupeds, live in the wild, and do not wear clothes or use technology. Early pages are available for viewing on his website.

Premise
Camo is a middle-aged tiger living on an island in a river in the Indian jungle with his three nearly-grown cubs, whom - contrary to general male tiger behavior - he has raised. He constantly wards off invasions of his territory by rival tigers - including his ambitious young Neighbor - with nothing more than his calm, confident presence.

Camo's only son, Young Camo ("Y.C.") is a rare white tiger, which makes it more difficult for him to blend into his surroundings. Camo insists that the happy-go-lucky Y.C. toughen up in order to compensate for this disadvantage, and the discussion escalates into an argument, and then a fight.

As Camo is about to pounce on Y.C., the younger tiger reflexively uses his hitherto-undiscovered magical powers to send his father to Siberia.

Y.C. embarks upon a quest to find his father, master his powers...and perhaps discover his own territory on the way.

Meanwhile, Camo must learn how to survive in someone else's territory.
