2 also performs and records audio 'rants', and hosted an Internet radio show called [[2 Sense]] which ran for 87 mostly-weekly episodes, up to two hours in length, before being discontinued due to time and work constraints on July 2nd, 2005, at the peak of its popularity. Born in August 1972, 2 has been a performer for most of his life. He began as a [[Wikipedia:Rock and roll|rock]] guitarist in the [[Wikipedia:1980s|1980's]]. He then ventured into the sci-fi and [[fantasy]] fields, doing comedy events at conventions during the [[Wikipedia:1990s|1990's]].

A member of the furry fandom, he has a [[gryphon]] [[fursona]]. His name allegedly came to him in a dream about the creature. He regularly attends [[furry conventions]] and often performs [[Wikipedia:Stand-up comedy|stand up]] there. He has been the [[guest of honor]] at [[Califur 0]], [[Oklacon]] 2004, [[Rocket City FurMeet]] 2005, [[Feral!]] 2006 and [[RBW 2007]]. He is also currently on staff at [[Furry Weekend Atlanta]], [[Rocket City Furmeet]] and is co-chair of [[Furry Connection North]].

== The rants and music ==

2 ranted about many things during the early stages of his website. His rants were between 3-6 minutes long and normally focused on three areas. These areas are [[Wikipedia:religion|religions]] (rants about [[Wikipedia:holy wars|holy wars]], prayer, and [[Wikipedia:Christmas|Christmas]]), political issues (delving into such issues as [[Wikipedia:gay pride|gay pride]], hunting, guns, abortion, and the U. S. military), and the furry fandom itself. Rants on the latter are geared specifically to that community, and thus less accessible to those outside the fandom, and have dealt with [[Further Confusion]], [[Anthrocon]], [[furry artist|fur artists]] and "Muck Talk".

The rants were originally scripted and were released on average once every two months. Their main purpose was for 2 to spread his opinions.
His latest rants have dealt with [[Wikipedia:Intelligent design|intelligent design]], the [[Wikipedia:news media|news media]] and [[wikipedia:Justice|justice]]. Before the rants however, 2 created a lot of music. Some of the more popular songs include "Salvation" and "Jaunt". In the 1980s, 2 had originally hoped to become a rock artist, and still aspires to make music professionally.

==LSD files==
2 has been making poetic audio files known as the Lucid Sonic Delusions. At present he has released two of them on his official website, with plans to release a whole new series as time goes on.

It is thought that the files were named LSD Files because they give the same euphoric feel as the drug of the same name (though they have nothing to do with drugs). The files are in fact named Lucid Sonic Delusions; this may have been on purpose so that the initials would be LSD, but this has not been confirmed.

==Dear 2==
2 Gryphon is doing a short show (if it can indeed be considered a show) approximately 10 minutes long in which he answers letters sent in by (presumably) past 2 Sense listeners and fans of his website. The show is identical to the Dear 2 segment from 2 Sense with the exception of there being no co-host. This show has no actual release date and is released based on the amount of mail received and time restraints on 2 himself. Dear 2 is expected to end when 2 Sense 2.0 starts.

2 the Ranting Gryphon has released four DVDs and a CD since 2002. These are available to buy from 2's official website.

The first DVD, "Rolling A One", is a one hour long comedy show recorded live at Anthrocon in 2002.

The second DVD, "The Truth", is a one hour long comedy show recorded live at Anthrocon in 2003. It includes commentary from 2 and Lord Skandranon on one track, and a separate track consisting of 2, [[Lord Skandranon]], [[Skates]], and [[Krahnos]]. The DVD also includes the infamous "chocolate bunny death" video.

The third DVD, "The Gods Hate Me", is a one hour long comedy show recorded live at Anthrocon in 2004. Among the DVD's special features are a full length MST3K style commentary from 2, the DVD's creator Lord Skandranon and their friend [[Gir Tygrin]] (who in the video refers to himself as random other guy), some random bonus footage, and an explanation of the "beer shot" joke.

Plans for a fourth DVD, "Place Gryphon Here", were scrapped due to technical problems while recording the shows at [[Anthrocon 2005]] and [[Midwest FurFest 2005]]. Instead, an audio CD was released that contains audio from both. It replaces an earlier audio CD that has gone out of print.

A fourth DVD was eventually released, called "Live In Germany". This DVD is a one hour long comedy show recorded live at Eurofurence 12 in 2006.

The first event, the New Year's Furry Ball 2007, was held on December 31, 2006 - January 1, 2007 in two suites at the [[Wikipedia:Quakertown|Quakertown]] Comfort Inn, with a total of 55 attendees.

New Year's Furry Ball 2008 took place December 31, 2007 - January 1, 2008 at the same venue and had an attendance of 92.

The concept for Feral! was first drawn up during the summer of 1997 over the span of several meetings. Several furs had shown great interest in hosting a furry conference in the Toronto area after having attended the successful [[Albany AnthroCon 1997]] in July. [[P.Pardus]] is credited for being the driving force behind starting Feral!, combining two suggestions from locals [[Terry Wessner]] and [[Silfur]] of a workshop-oriented university and a summer camp respectively.<ref name=History>Feral 2006 FAQ, http://www.campferal.org/faq.php</ref> A committee was soon brought together, including [[P.Pardus]], [[Terry Wessner]], [[Silfur]], [[Benjamin]], and [[Wilykat]].

Mascots tended to consist of contributions from artist Guests of Honour to the Survival Guide for the next several years, before being replaced on a more permanent basis by four different clan mascots (tied to Feral!'s introduction of clans, which campers were randomly assigned to for participation in activities). Completed by artist team [[The Wormwood]] and [[Anklebones (Canada)|Anklebones]], each mascot represented one of the four tribes at Feral! - Geist for Earth, Misha for Fire, Aelos for Wind, and Kabalo for Water.

With its own lake, its facilities are well-suited to the convention due to the fact that it hosts several summer camps for children during a two-month period throughout the summer (its main log cabin hall for campers, built in 1928, can host almost 350 people). Recent events have been hosted at the conclusion of the camping season, prior to the site undergoing maintenance.

It is located in the Haliburton Heights region of southeastern Ontario, Canada, very near to a small town named Minden. Where Arowhon excelled in rustic charm, Kinark had the advantage of being a more modern facility which had a few class room spaces with good resources available for workshops.

[[Cnipur]] founded the con with some of his friends in early 2005 and served as [[convention chairman]] in 2006. He also served as chairman in 2007.

In March/April 2006, [[Angus]] from Germany, [[Jamango]] and [[Xkun]] from the Czech Republic, and [[unci]] from Austria travelled to Turkey to see the solar eclipse on 29 March 2006. The trip started in [[Wikipedia:Antalya|Antalya]] where the four participants met on 25 March (Angus was there a day before), and visited nearby attractions such as the ancient cities [[Wikipedia:Termessos|Termessos]], [[Wikipedia:Phaselis|Phaselis]] and [[Wikipedia:Olympos|Olympos]]. They moved to [[Wikipedia:Side|Side]] on the day of the eclipse, watching it in perfectly clear weather from a place on the old town wall. The Czech participants had to leave on the same day, the other two extended their trip by a few days, returning to Antalya on 31 March via [[Wikipedia:Aspendos|Aspendos]].

The next total solar eclipse will take place on 1 August 2008; the totality zone crosses Siberia into the Altay region and China.

Furry Eclipse 3 is planned to take place in the [[Wikipedia:Novosibirsk|Novosibirsk]] region of Russia. It will start on the 30 July in Novosibirsk, we will then find a place to stay in the Altay mountains (snow leopard country!) near [[Wikipedia:Gorno-Altaysk|Gorno-Altaysk]]. After the eclipse a train trip to [[Wikipedia:Lake Baikal|Lake Baikal]] (the world's largest and deepest freshwater body) is planned, and optional travel by train via Moscow back to Europe. Since [[Mephit Furmeet 5|2001]], the Holiday Inn Select at [[wikipedia:Memphis International Airport|Memphis International Airport]] has been the current venue of MFM. From [[Mephit Furmeet 2|1998]] through [[Mephit Furmeet 4|2000]], it was held at the Holiday Inn Memphis East on Poplar Ave. The event was first held at a Howard Johnson's Inn (now an Econo Lodge) on Sycamore View Road in East Memphis. [[Tiger Haven]] has been the convention [[charity]] for Mephit Furmeet every year since 2001 and is expected to remain so for the foreseeable future. Through 2006, MFM has raised more than $70,000 for Tiger Haven and is their largest single contributor.

RainFurrest was conceived by a group of individuals in the Pacific Northwest region who wished to start a new furry convention in the absence of [[Conifur Northwest]]. FurFright was started in [[FurFright 2003|2003]] by [[Belic Bear]] and [[K'gra Leopard]] as a small outdoor event, which took place at a cabin in [[Wikipedia:Middletown, Connecticut|Middletown]], [[Wikipedia:Connecticut|Connecticut]]. Originally 30-50 attendees were anticipated, but more than 160 people registered, and the event turned into an annual convention. FurFright, now in its 5th year, hosts more than 700 attendees from all over the world.

To accommodate its attendees, in 2004 [[FurFright 2004]] was moved to the Sheraton Bradley Hotel, located at [[wikipedia:Bradley International Airport|Bradley International Airport]] in [[Wikipedia:Windsor Locks, Connecticut|Windsor Locks, Connecticut]]. The Days Inn and Comfort Suites had to be added as overflow hotels for [[FurFright 2006]] when the Sheraton Bradley completely sold out with over 515 furs in attendance.

In January 2007, Exodite Dragon and [[Evol]], a former [[Rocket City Fur Meet]] staffer, sought additional volunteers both in and outside of Texas to aid in the relaunch of Furry Fiesta. The '''Cape May Fur Meet''' is a gathering of furs on the weekend before [[Wikipedia:Memorial Day|Memorial Day]] in the county of [[Wikipedia:Cape May County, New Jersey|Cape May, New Jersey]].

The CMFM was started when [[LionkingCMSL]] offered furs rides on the [http://www.buenavistatownship.org/cape_may_seashore_lines.htm Cape May Seashore Lines] (CMSL) when he heard about AC2000. However, being in South Jersey, LK thought AC meant Atlantic City, and did not find out until later that it was [[AnthroCon]] and it was held in Valley Forge, PA, that year. So, to make good on his promise he started CMFM.

The thing that makes CMFM unique in the furry con/meet/fest scheme of things is that it uses a chartered train as part of the meet itself, operated by furries who happen to be CMSL employees.

A typical meet schedule includes a train ride from [[Wikipedia:Cape May Court House, New Jersey|Cape May Courthouse]] to [[Wikipedia:Cape May, New Jersey|Cape May]] with the stops at the [[Wikipedia:Cape May County Park & Zoo|Cape May County Zoo]] and Cold Spring, followed by a dinner and free exploration of Cape May, and a train ride back. The second day of the meet consists of the train ride to Cold Spring, a school bus ride to the resort town of [[Wikipedia:Wildwood, New Jersey|Wildwood]], free exploration of its boardwalk and bus and train to get back.

CMFM is held on the last weekend before the official opening of the tourist season in Cape May and Wildwood, so the furries manage to beat the crowds.

In 2004, 73 furs attended CMFM the last time that the train was able to operate for the entirety of the route.

The con has a "Wheel of Blame" with every RCFM staffer's name on it. The wheel, which was introduced at the second RCFM, is spun during the opening ceremonies and whoever's name it lands upon receives all the blame for any problems and mishaps during the entire con (aka Staff Member X). The wheel is then spun again at the closing ceremonies and whoever's name it lands upon is blamed for any problems the staff has until next year's convention.

FENEC ("Furries Enjoying the Natural Environments of California") was conceived by [[Alohawolf|Robert "Alohawolf" Johnson Jr.]], [[Dawn Britt]], and [[Dennis Carr]] with the initial idea of having a furry-themed campout. While riding home from the southern California [[FurBQ]], Dawn had commented to Dennis and his wife, Karmin, about the lack of other camping events such as [[Feral!]] in Southern California. Dennis pointed this out while chatting on the [[Furnet]] IRC Network, and Robert took charge from there.

As the campout was being planned, additional staffers including [[Glen Wooten]], [[Zee|Zsanene "Zee" Stevens]], [[Trapa|Tank "Trapa" Winters]], [[Drew kitty|"Drew kitty"]] along with ConFurence co-founders [[Mark Merlino]] and [[Rod O'Riley]] were brought on board. The black and white interior of the conbook includes a message from the chairman, Moorcat; information about WolfNymph, the guest of honor, and about Wolf People; the All Fur Fun 2007 schedule, staff bios, and policy. == Background ==
HerbstCon is famous for its cozy atmosphere and excellent self-cooked food. It is reminiscent of meetings from the early days of [[furry fandom]], before elaborate programming, events, registration, badges, conbooks and timetables or the like could be found. Among the guests are many well-known German artists and organizers of other European conventions and meets. This is their "payback" for contributing to the fandom: a relaxing weekend!

Furry Weekend Atlanta was the logical outgrowth of furry gathering held for years in Atlanta at the homes of various furs. Over the years, as more and more furs showed up in the metro Atlanta area, the gatherings became larger and larger. The idea of holding a furry convention was raised by several members of the Atlanta furry family, first in 2001 when nothing became of it, and then again in 2003. As the result of several planning sessions held in August of 2003, a concrete plan emerged to hold a convention in February of 2004. The name chosen echoes that of [[Wikipedia:Anime Weekend Atlanta|Anime Weekend Atlanta]].

Furry Weekend Atlanta is produced by Furry Weekend Atlanta, Inc., a non-profit corporation organized pursuant to the Georgia Non-Profit Corporation Code. Furry Weekend Atlanta Inc., in turn, is headed by an Executive Committee and tasked with operating the yearly convention, and promoting the acceptance and appreciation of the anthropomorphic fandom in the Southeast and throughout the country as a whole. As a non-profit corporation, only funds necessary for the continuing operation of the convention are retained; the remaining funds are donated to appropriate charities.

In addition to operating the convention, Tiger Paw also moderates [[FLORA]], and works to organize the Georgia furry population for entertainment and service.

In accordance with Furry Weekend Atlanta's bylaws, all convention staff meetings are open unless issues being discussed are especially divisive or the good name of a member is being discussed.

==Charities==
From 2005 to 2006, Furry Weekend Atlanta's official [[charity]] was the [http://www.wildliferehabsanctuary.org/ Ellijay Wildlife Rehabilitation Sanctuary], located a short distance from Atlanta in Ellijay, Georgia. The sanctuary is a state and federally licensed facility operated by Craig and Debbie Cylke, both of whom are certified in wildlife rehabilitation. To date, the sanctuary’s dedicated staff has educated over 100,000 children and adults through on-site course offerings, summer camps, and mobile education programs. Furry Weekend Atlanta attendees donated almost $4,000 to the Sanctuary in 2006.

:The story is about Russ, a young English guy of 19, who is a fur. His mother worries about his apparent internet addiction, but he can't tell her what it's all about; she'd never understand.

:Russ goes online and starts to mix with the furry community, in particular with a mentor figure from the States called BluePhoenix, under whose tutelage he establishes his own fursona, RedFox, and first hears of the concept of yiff - which in his mind becomes a holy grail - the thing that he wants most. He also starts an online romance with JadeVixen, the fursona of a girl in the States, but his mother is worried about the wolves of the world, and fears that Russ is too innocent and inexperienced not to be harmed.

:Russ and Jade continue to roleplay and yiff online and Russ quickly starts falling in love with her. After Primrose realises that Russ's sexuality is all bound up with his furriness, she takes action to make sure he can't express his furry side again by cutting off his internet connection.

:Driven by his mother's actions, Russ steals her credit card and flies to the United States to attend FurCon - a generic furry [[convention]] parodying [[Anthrocon]]. Here he spends days in the presence of other furs, loving every moment of it. He meets Gr1z, who makes Russ a conbadge to wear.

:Russ' mum is worried about her boy spending all his time on the internet in the company of people who seem weird. She worries about predators and wants to protect Russ because she's not sure he's ready for the world. She's a member of the Army of the Light - a conservative Christian group.

;Gr1z/AzurePhœnix

:Gr1z is a more experienced fur than Russ, aged 26, from the States. He's tried to realise his furry dreams, but life hasn't yet let that happen. He's a graphic designer by profession, originally named Griff, but he changed it in his script kiddie days.

:His fursona is a wise old bird of the furry community, more than once burned by it. Azure stands apart from other furs these days, but has useful words of advice, and occasional words of cynicism for newbies.

The first and currently only performance of ''Yiff!'' was a workshop performance running 40 minutes (made up of excerpts from the show, which is expected to run 70 or so minutes in total once complete). This was at Goldsmiths College, London (the launchpad of artists such as Damien Hirst and Damon Albarn), on 27 and 29 September 2007.

This will be followed on 28 January and 3 February by a London Fringe production of the showcase version, at the King's Head Theatre, Islington, London, with possibly a Manchester production in Summer 2008, featuring the entire show, coinciding with [[Confuzzled]].

There are four scheduled events held quarterly that take place in metro [[Orlando]], Florida, and many others (some scheduled, some impromptu) that occur in other places. The quarterly events are: Elliott's Winter Carnival, Elliott's Spring Gathering, Elliott's Summer Celebration, and Elliott's Fall Festival. These events feature an [[artist]]'s lounge, a dance floor, a dinner, a [[headless lounge]], outdoor activities, a series of movies, a video game arcade, and a welcoming social environment for furry fans and their friends. These events are open to all, with no age restriction and welcome both [[furry fans]] and their friends, however pre-registration is required.

The first Elliott's Winter Carnival was held 13 January, 2007. There were 60 attendees, with over 20 [[fursuit]]s. King Elliott provided soft drinks and dinner for all his guests.

MiDFur was originally [[Atpaw]]'s planned December 1999 meetup of five [[furries|furs]] scattered around Australia. From Melbourne, [[Alpha X-ray]]. From [[wikipedia:Newcastle, New South Wales|Newcastle]], Atpaw and [[Sepharen]]. From [[wikipedia:Adelaide|Adelaide]], [[TimberFox]] and finally, from [[wikipedia:Brisbane|Brisbane]], [[Whyrl]].

During the course of planning, 'MiDFur' was decided upon to identify the event and word spread of the small private meetup. However, as the time of the convention grew near, the founders began to withdraw from attendance due to real-life commitments, until all five had pulled out. A furry named [[Muse]] volunteered to step in and take up the reins. Since then, a different furry has organized the meet each year. However, none of the original founders of MiDFur attended the event they set into motion for several years.

Since then, planning of the event has become increasingly open to the public, mostly discussed on the [[OzFurry (mailing list)|Ozfurry mailing list]] and [[SAFurs.org|SA Furs discussion forum]]. Four of the five founders did end up attending MiDFur, though rarely in the same year.

What initially started out as a one day party has now grown to a two day convention with an attendance of around 200 for 2007. It is normally held in late November to early December. Another major change to the 2006 structure is the affiliation of a hotel, dealers, and Guests of Honor.

== Background ==
Since the formation of the [[londonfurs]] in 1998 it has been traditional for the LondonFurs to organize a special Christmas meal. However this tradition was broken in 2005 when no one took responsibility to arrange this event. When [[Rapido]] took responsibility for organizing the London Furs he decided to make the Christmas meal a more formal event by creating RBW.

Red, Blue & White (RBW) had its first event in 2006. In 2006 the event took place upon a River Thames party boat. The party included music and a live performance by [[2, The Ranting Gryphon]] and sold out with 80 tickets being sold for the event and over 100 furs attending the day time activities.

In April 2007, it was decided to expand RBW from an evening party to a full weekend convention in the centre of London. Whilst RBW 2007 will continue with the boat party, it will now offer attendees a wider range of activities across a broad spectrum of furry related interests. This includes fursuiting, art and general entertainment. The expected turn out for 2007 is approximately 200.

Work has already begun on planning for 2008, in which RBW will move to a hotel with convention facilities. It has now been confirmed that 2008 will include the evening river Thames cruise. The unconfirmed dates for RBW 2008 are 27th to the 30th November.

Whilst the 2006 event was a success one of the most noted criticisms that came about after the event was the lack of space on the boat, along with there being a strong desire to make the event spread across a weekend. For RBW 2007, a large private venue for the Saturday and Sunday of the convention, along with a much larger party boat have been organized.

The Main Venue, The Calico Bar, will facilitate the majority of the programming.
For the party on the Saturday evening, RBW will have use of a [[Wikipedia:River Thames|River Thames]] part boat. 'The Golden Jubilee' is a two tier boat with a 200 person capacity, a staffed bar on each floor, a large outside area on the top floor, a dance floor upstairs and socializing space downstairs.

The hotel for 2007 is 'The Royal National' hotel in Russel Square, [[Wikipedia:London|London, England]]. The Royal National is one of the largest hotel and convention facilities in Europe. It has 1630 en-suite rooms and 30 convention spaces.

While thoughts of a French convention had been considered since [[Eurofurence 7]], they became a reality once [[Eurofurence 9]] was announced as being hosted in the [[wikipedia:Czech Republic|Czech Republic]], 12 hours away from France. Eighteen [[furry fan|furry fans]], who met on the Internet, had the opportunity to share their passion in real life. FranFurence is based on [[Eurofurence]]'s success and tries to follow in its footsteps (or possibly pawsteps).

Midwest FurFest got its start as the furry track for [[Duckon]], a Chicago-based [[science fiction]] convention. The furry track was started at Duckon 3 in 1994 and was headed up by [[Robert King]]. The track grew larger each year and it was estimated that by Duckon 8 (1999) between one-quarter and one-third of the attendees were there due to interest in the furry track.

The track ran into problems because it was running out of room to expand without costing other parts of Duckon programming space and time. It was decided that the best course of action was to spin off into a new convention.

[[Gene Breshears]], [[Tincrash]], and [[Kenket]] were the Guests of Honor in 2005. The convention continued to grow, breaking the thousand-furry mark for the first time with 1,066 in attendance. Wildlife in Need, a small wildlife rehabilitation organization, was the recipient of $6,800 in donations. The highlight of the Charity Auction was the auctioning off of an evening with 2 and Uncle Kage entertaining the winner and their friends in a private performance; in the end, two groups who were bidding against each other pooled their funds and the performance went for $650. This was Takaza's last year heading the convention, as he passed the chairmanship over to [[Linnaeus]] for 2006. It was also announced that Midwest FurFest would be returning to the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in 2006.

Illustrator Heather "[[Kyoht]]" Luterman , fursuit designer [[Whiteyfawks|Whitefox]] (aka [[Whiteyfawks]]) and artist and designer [[Jen Seng]] (aka [[Spunky]]) were the Guests of Honor in 2006. The theme was ''Midwest FurFest County Fair''. 1,422 people were in attendance. [[Fursuit parade]] attendance was at 213 participants, a record at the time. The Charity Auction raised $5570 for the [http://www.safehavenwildlife.com/ Safe Haven Wildlife Refuge], not including donations. $13,048.96 in all was raised for the refuge.

=== 2007 ===

Linnaeus will chair the convention again this year, which will take place November 16-18, 2007 at the Hyatt Regency Woodfield in Schaumburg, Illinois. The Guests of Honor include illustrator and artist [[Cara Mitten]], artist and costumer [[Jill0r]], and author [[Will Sanborn]]. The theme will be "Critters on the High Seas".
