'''Ian the Fox''' AKA '''MooglePower''' is a 19 year old [[anthro]] red [[fox]]. He is from [[Wikipedia:Brentwood, Los Angeles, California|Brentwood, Los Angeles, CA]]. He plays many instruments, paricularly the piano, celtic harp, dulcimer, whistles, bass guitar, guitar, Irish bouzouki, Irish tenor banjo, cuatro, and mandolin. He can sing and program computers as well. Professing a large interest in cowboys and rodeos, don't be surprised if you find him at one. He claims that there is no separation from his real-life and online personalities.

He is a gay furry [[lifestyler]]. Ian made up the name mooglepower when he was in the fourth grade, although it's something he'd like to eventually change. Although he's not a moogle, he does like moogles a lot.

In real life he is a second-year at [[UCLA]] (University of California at Los Angeles). He currently is majoring in Linguistics & Computer Science, which he enjoys immensely.

With his many musical talents he plays in the Irish traditional music group Barghest. He also sings with The Jumpmen, an acapella quartet specializing in video game music. His other singing involvements include the UCLA Chorale, Chamber Singers, and Paid Ensemble.

He is now a member of the rock group [[Illegal Operation]] with fellow fur [[Rod O'Riley]]. He sings and plays guitar and keyboard with them.

== Furry History ==

Ian first found furry at the age of 15 thanks to the room #furry_realm on the EsperNet IRC network. After being a horse for six months, he decided that he was much more a fox than a horse, owing mostly to his inquisitive yet sly nature.

He attended his first (and last) Confurence in 2003 and entered the Filk competition, winning the audience choice award. Although it was his first furry convention, he felt at home and content there.

Immediately after he turned 18, he started attending the [[Rick's Cafe' Terrestrienne]] parties at Rick and Tess's house. After Rick and Tess moved, he continued to attend the parties, now moved to the [[Prancing Skiltaire]]. He is now a semi-regular.

== Current affairs ==

Ian the Fox has started working on translating Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone into Old Norse. He hopes to have it done by the end of this year so that he can start proofing it.

Ian is now single and looking for a mate. He wants someone to share his joy, passion, and life with.

'''''Barr Wars''''' is one of the "zap"-style [[APA]]zines. It was not the first, but it is considered by some to have been the best. In such a 'zine, cartoonists would have their [[character]]s interact -- often violently or viciously, but not always. Characters of different creators often carried on romances, got married, and even had children. The Barr Wars itself actually began life in the pages of the ''[[Centaurs Gatherum]]'', an APA run by and dedicated to centaur fans.

The Barr Wars themselves began with an infamous exchange of bad punnery between members [[Jim Groat]] and [[Donna Barr]]. Mr. Groat had opined that he had figured out where Mrs. Barr's Germanic [[centaur]] character had come from. When "Frau" Barr inquired as to Mr. Groat's deduction, he replied, "BARRVARIA!". Mrs. Barr, naturally enough, begged the rest of the reading audience to "shoot him, not me!". Mr. Groat's response was to draw his entire main cast of characters holding modern weaponry with the leader in the middle saying "Shoot WHO, Frau Barr?".

To which Mrs. Barr posted a picture of all HER main characters (including many who'd never previously been centaurs) with Stinz dressed in Wehrmacht livery and toting a machinegun: "Anyone she tells us to, Herr Groat."

The gauntlets had been thrown, and over the years some fifty-odd (some would say VERY odd) cartoonists slung mud, built nations, exploded nuclear bombs, and otherwise attempted futilely and humorously to do away with each others' characters. One of the more notable examples of this sort of free-for-all cartoonery can be found in ''[[The Crusade]]'', which covers a story arc that starts with Mrs. Barr (herself, inkwise) molesting a [[unicorn]]. Things go rapidly downhill from there, often hilariously.

Published quarterly, the Barr Wars eventually outgrew the pages of the [[Centaurs Gatherum]] and continue to be published (without Frau Barr, who has long gone on to more industrious pursuits) under the nom de plume of "Bizarre Wars". The Bizarre Wars itself ultimately became so big that the waitlist of cartoonists awaiting entry spawned a "waitlist APA" called ''[[The Dallas Brawl]]''...just so they could take their creative pressures out on each other while waiting for entry to "the real show"!

Particularly in the older days of the fandom, the Barr Wars were significant in that its membership was virtually a who's-who of [[furry fandom]]'s top talents, to include the likes of [[Terrie Smith]] and [[Scott Ruggels]].

A '''goon''' is a netizen who has an active account on the [[Something Awful]] [[forum]]s. Goons are infamous for [[troll|trolling]] the furry fandom, starting pranks, and stirring up trouble in communities (although not all goons act this way). They are also known for targeting [[otherkin]], [[wikipedia:otaku|otaku]], Juggalos, and anything else they consider amusing.

When defacing a site or invading a message board, their actions generally take the shape of "swarming," or gaining numerous users to attack all at once. This usually happens via link to a particular web forum, wiki or other such website from Something Awful, usually in an unorganized accident. Due to their immense numbers, some consider their attacks a form of a [[Wikipedia:DDoS|DDoS]] attack, but it should be noted that those who take the added traffic in stride suffer the least ill effect. Forum invasions are bannable on the Something Awful forums, and admins sometimes step in to request IP addresses of the offenders, but this does not always do much good because forum lurkers without accounts often participate in invasions.

When invasions purposefully occur, they generally come in the form of an "Awful Link of the Day", a feature where Something Awful links to a website considered strange by the majority. This is done for comedy purposes, and all traffic from it generally fades within a day or two, although occasionally a random stalker will stick around.

Sometimes, individual goons take it upon themselves to invade a furry convention or similar meetup. Although it is officially and unofficially frowned upon, Something Awful rarely takes action against users who turn their online behavior into real-world harassment. However, there are very few accounts of this actually happening.
