==History==<br />
MancFurs formed from the Manchester Meets, first happening August 26th 2000 , that became part of the regular (UK) meet rotation in the early 2000s, with Manchester's rotation for the meets originally happening on the last weekend of May and November yearly, and the monthly mini-meets held on the second Saturday of the month which was first recorded on the NorthernFurs website in 2006.<br />
<br />
Originally the meets took place on both Saturday and Sunday, with Sunday being a quieter event which was usually hosted at cafes, however the second day was eventually dropped as attendance dropped compared to the busier Saturday with the last arranged mini-meet on a Sunday happening on the 13th of March, 2011.<br />
<br />
The name "MancFurs" was first officially used in March 2012 when the mini-meet organiser at the time DarkOverord and former mini-meet organiser Stuart Otterson set up the Manchester Furs Twitter account, though originally intending to just use the name "Manchester Furs", the shortened name originally used for a small handle became the defacto name not long afterwards.<br />
<br />
Early 2013 "mini" had been dropped from the title for MancFurs meets, and the main meets had been renamed to "The Great Northern Furmeet" which changed the May meet to June to avoid further clashes with Confuzzled.<br />
<br />
With Lone-the-Dog stepping down as Meet organiser in December 2013, the top-down structure of "organiser" with volunteers under them was changed and a MancFurs committee was organised and took over running the events starting in 2014 before settling in to the organisational structure used currently.<br />
<br />
By 2015 the two meets had ceased running as separate entities and both were under MancFurs, with the Great Northern Furmeets becoming seasonal meets called the MancFurs Summer/Winter Party. <br />
<br />
The meets were then put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, and returned without the extra two party meets in June and November, leaving only the 12 monthly meets.<br />

I mostly joined to update a singular page while having my named tagged. Then I got bored and posted an article of myself while updating information about the Manchester minimeets when I was still running them.<br />
<br />
Then I updated my page again in 2024 because it was out of date. Thrilling.<br />

<br />
DarkOverord, occasionally known as DarkOverord Occassus, DarkOverord NoSpace or simply Overord, (born July 24, 1989), is an agender (preferring it/its) furry artist specialising in digital art who resides in the England, United Kingdom. Its name was originally a typo of "DarkOverlord" made in 2004 when registering to deviantART that it chose not to correct.<br />
<br />
==Fandom Involvement==<br />
<br />
Overord discovered the furry fandom in 2006. However, it did not identify as furry until 2007, and became active in Manchester's furry community after attending the (UK) Main Meet for Manchester in November 2007. It cites Sonic the Hedgehog as a franchise, and associated fandom, as being one of the main reasons it discovered the furry fandom and furries in general.<br />
<br />
=== Fursonas ===<br />
<br />
* Simon Rickson - Overord's primary fursona, an agender red vampire hedgehog that was originally a Sonic fan character called "Speedy Rickson". The design gradually transitioned from Sonic proportions to something more anthropomorphic in 2012 and with a revised design in 2018. The final design being a red hedgehog with yellow lighter fur on its chest and muzzle, darker red quills, eyes with heterochromia iridum (right eye - green, left eye - blue), and paw pads on both hands and feet. The most recent revision the design in 2024 changing to a vampire hedgehog.<br />
<br />
* DarkOverord Occassus - Overord's original fursona is an agender slim red dragon character with a grey underbelly, large wings, blue eyes, a purple gem in its chest and messy orange hair. This design has been mostly consistent from mid-2005, with one prior design without the hair, and had an yellow-orange underbelly that was used briefly in early 2005. This character fell out of use as its primary online representation in 2013 but has come back in to semi regular use since a design revision in 2018.<br />
<br />
* DarkOverord - In February 2013, Overord changed its fursona to that of a pooltoy/inflatable dragon, retaining similar features as the original dragon's design. There was a design revision in 2016 to make the design puffier looking than the original 2013 version.<br />
<br />
* Marcus Fukuyama - A male fat tanuki in earthen tones with green eyes, paw pads on both hands and feet, and a large tail. Initially designed in February 2012 the character became Overord's main fursona at the beginning of 2017. The character has transformation magic and as such has been depicted in art as other species and characters.<br />
<br />
=== Meets and Conventions ===<br />
<br />
Overord was the organiser of the then NorthernFurs and later MancFurs Manchester Minimeets between June 2010 and August 2012. In addition to attending the furmeets held in Manchester, and others held in Chester and Leeds, it has attended ConFuzzled in 2010, 2011, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022 and 2023.<br />

MancFurs formed from the regular (UK) meet rotation in the early 2000s, with Manchester's meets originally happening on the last weekend of May and November yearly, and the monthly mini-meets held on the second Saturday of the month which was first recorded on the NorthernFurs website in 2006.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Early 2013 "mini" had been dropped from the title for MancFurs meets, and the main meets had been renamed to "The Great Northern Furmeet" which changed the May meet to June to avoid further clashes with Confuzzled.<br />
<br />
With Lone-the-Dog stepping down as Meet organiser in December 2013, the top-down structure of "organiser" with volunteers under them was changed and a MancFurs committee was organised and took over running the events starting in 2014 before settling in to the organisational structure used currently.<br />
<br />
By 2015 the two meets had ceased running as separate entities and both were under MancFurs, with the Great Northern Furmeets becoming seasonal meets called the MancFurs Summer/Winter Party. <br />
<br />
The meets were then put on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, and returned without the extra two party meets in June and November, leaving only the 12 monthly meets.<br />

DarkOverord, occasionally known as DarkOverord Occassus or DarkOverord NoSpace (born July 24, 1989), is a furry artist specialising in digital art who resides in the England, United Kingdom. His name is originally a typo of "DarkOverlord" made in 2004 when registering to deviantART that he chose not to correct.<br />
<br />
==Fandom Involvement==<br />
<br />
Overord discovered the furry fandom in 2006. However, he did not identify as furry until 2007, and became active in Manchester's furry community after attending Manchester's Main Meet in November 2007. He cites Sonic the Hedgehog as a franchise, and its associated fandom, as being one of the main reasons he discovered the furry fandom and furries in general.<br />
<br />
=== Characters ===<br />
<br />
* DarkOverord Occassus - Overord's original fursona is a male slim red dragon character with a grey underbelly, large wings, blue eyes, a purple gem in his chest and messy orange hair. This design has been mostly consistent from mid-2005, with one prior design without the hair, and had an yellow-orange underbelly that was used briefly in early 2005. This character fell out of use as his primary online representation in 2013 but has come back in to semi regular use since a design revision in 2018.<br />
<br />
* DarkOverord - In February 2013, Overord changed his fursona to that of a pooltoy/inflatable dragon, retaining similar features as the original dragon's design. There was a design revision in 2016 to make the design puffier looking than the original 2013 version.<br />
<br />
<br />
* Simon Rickson - A male red hedgehog that was originally a Sonic fan character called "Speedy Rickson". The design gradually transitioned from Sonic proportions to something more anthropomorphic in 2012 and with a final revised design in 2018. The final design being a red hedgehog with yellow lighter fur on his chest and muzzle, darker red quills, eyes with heterochromia iridum (right eye - green, left eye - blue), and paw pads on both hands and feet.<br />
<br />

<hr />
<div>Mini-meets are furmeets that contain (on average) no more than 20 people; the term is most widely used in the United Kingdom. These meets can sometimes be an impromptu event or scheduled events held between larger furmeets. The subject and venue is usually of a simple nature such as a group trip to a bar, the movies or an exhibit. These events are not necessarily of a 'furry' nature, however may still include such things as fursuiting, drawing and games.<br />
<br />
Regularly scheduled mini-meets are uncommon, however some do exist and are popular. <br />
* The NorthernFurs Manchester Mini-meet is held monthly in Manchester, UK, on the second Saturday of the month. Attendance is usually between 40-60 people. It is arguably the largest minimeet in Britain and is larger than some main furmeets.<br />
* The HantsFurs hold regular mini-meets and special meets, usually announced on their mailing list and UKFur.<br />
* There is a minimeet held every two months in Preston.<br />

Mini-meets sometimes also come in the form of specialised meets which cater to specific interests within the fandom. These are less common and less regular than most minimeets, however seem to gain good attendance considering their limited scope. Again, these seem to be most prevalent in the United Kingdom.<br />
* Babyfur meets are held in numerous locations.<br />
* The Manchester Fatfur meet was held on occasional months in 2007-2008.<br />

<div>Mini-meets are furmeets that contain (on average) no more than 20 people; the term is most widely used in the United Kingdom. These meets can sometimes be an impromptu event or scheduled events held between larger furmeets. The subject and venue is usually of a simple nature such as a group trip to a bar, the movies or an exhibit. These events are not necessarily of a 'furry' nature, however may still include such things as fursuiting, drawing and games.<br />
<br />
Regularly scheduled mini-meets are uncommon, however some do exist and are popular. <br />
