Dan: Started discussion of Spirou's edits, inaccuracies and 3rd party marketing material introduced into the Galactic Camp page.

Hi Spirou, could you take a look at this? Dan (talk) 05:22, 3 June 2026 (EDT)

This isn't my platform and I was hesitant to contribute. Below are the details I've discerned could be used to enhance the article based on these edits Spirou has made.

Overview
Lists "Galactic Camp Organizing Committee Team" as a 501c3, but the event is actually run by Galactic Camp Corporation, a California nonprofit that is a 501c3. Could we please adjust references to use the accurate nonprofit name?

Citations Requested
What citations do you seek? I see the banner slapped on the page requesting citations, feel free to provide a list so your request can be directed to the correct canonical reference.

Be specific, it helps us help you!

Gala 2024
Is there a reason the nd on 2nd was dropped? May 2, 2024 reads poorly compared to May 2nd, 2024

Pizza Cones
I see links have been added to https://www.pillsbury.com/recipes/pizza-cones/044a90f6-e028-4e66-a7d2-5802197ddca6 which is not the product that was served, has significantly different ingredients, and uses a convection oven rather than a cone press & rotating radiant oven.

Would it be possible to refrain from linking to unaffiliated 3rd party native advertising in the Galactic Camp page perchance?

Charity
Can you refrain from adding years that have not been planned or announced to the Charity list? Could a comma be used rather than a period when listing units of thousands or tens of thousands of dollars? Using a period to denote the thousands place in US Dollars is not commonplace in California.

Attendance
The new chart lists years that are not currently forecast or planned. Listing future unplanned years clashes with the template itself listing only years that have occurred.

Had I known how poorly this chart would look having additional unused columns and rows compared to what existed prior to my edits, I likely would have left this page alone as the table looks worse than when I started, with more useless columns and rows that convey no meaning to the reader.

Additionally, this table lists a factual inaccuracy, stating " Maximum occupancy set at 660 attendees. ". The City of Alameda makes no differentiation between attendees, volunteers, staff, employees or even the inspectors they send aboard the boat. Every soul aboard the vessel counts towards the 660 person limit for occupancy. Can you adjust your wording to reflect this?

Camping
Camping details are on https://www.galacticcamp.com/camping for you to cite how you please. This is literal camping, bring a sleeping bag, pillow, towel and toiletries to camp out in bunks with beds sewn in the 1930s and 1940s (depending on manufacturer's tag)

2026
Returning in 2026, Galactic Camp faced a new series of permitting requirement with the City of Alameda, this was the first non-ship run event to attempt navigating this process.

With a significant investment of time and energy from the Galactic Camp Permit Compliance Organizing Team in partnership with the City of Alameda, the process was successfully navigated and Galactic Camp was able to occur with a ship occupancy limit of 660 people.

Notable firsts include:
* A fully licensed furry run Pizza Cone & $2 Galactic Glizzy kitchen where furries delivered healthy, thematic eats for their fellow furries
* A variety of community groups aboard the ship running weekend long events in the Anchor and Torpedo Rooms, including a Pup Socials

* Opening up significant portions of the below deck levels that were previously unavailable
* Rehabbing Private Cabins for the Ship Auction to support the USS Hornet while letting furries experience Officer accommodations in private berthings
* Enabling hundreds of furries to camp aboard the USS Hornet for 2 nights
