Furluminati Fanzine

2014-03-08T08:40:04Z

Daisy Bell: Removed Pox link, will likely never get an article as it has nothing to do with furries.

{{wikify}}
'''Furluminati Fanzine''' (sometimes referred to as the '''Sveafur Fanzine'''), is an annual [[fanzine|independently produced comic book]] by the Swedish [[furry]] community [[Sveafur]]. It features [[comic]]s [[fiction|written]] and [[art|illustrated]] by various [[artist]]s of the community and is edited by [[Frenzee]].

== Background ==

There had been talks and interest for a Swedish furry fanzine on Sveafur for a long time before the original realization of the Furluminati fanzine<ref>[http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=115 ''Tidning?''] post on the [[Sveafur]]'s [[forum]]s. Dated December 11, 2006. Retrieved ?.</ref>, at least two such efforts had been talked about but without any fruition. The fanzine was finally organized after a discussion about the absence of popular Swedish comic publications like [[W:Pyton|Pyton]] and Pox,<ref>[http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4862 ''Svenskas serier, pox, pyton osv. <nowiki>[</nowiki>splittad: Den där fapper<nowiki>]</nowiki>''] post on the Sveafur's [[forum]]s. Dated October 8, 2012. Retrieved ?.</ref> which served as an inspiration to create something new with the same spirit.

The general idea of the fanzine is to act as a representation of all the various aspects of [[furry lore|furry culture]] and be accessible for both [[furries]] and people outside the [[fandom]]. This is accomplished by giving all the different artists free creative control as long as the final result can be linked to furries, and while the covers suggest a specific theme for the content, there is no overall theme apart from furry fandom. The only recurring elements between the two issues are the artists, and in some cases their comics, as some choose to create sequels to their [[story|stories]] in the first issue.

An official language has never been decided, most comics are in Swedish, while some are in English, a few are intentionally void of dialogue. All comics are in black and white because of cost-related issues.

== First issue ==

Work on the first issue was started in October 2012 with the deadline of March 2013.<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4867</ref> The final product was sold at [[NordicFuzzCon 2013]] and [http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholms_internationella_seriefestival Stockholms internationella seriefestival]. The cover was an [[W:illuminati|illuminati]] inspired design with a Sveafur twist, which was originally designed as an embroidered patch sold to members of the forum.<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5741</ref> The design features the forums [[mascot]], the [[W:Cyclops|cyclops]] [[fox]] '''Ragnar''', as the all-seeing eye inside a pyramid structure, at his sides are the joke deities '''Spökguden''' (''The Ghost God'') and '''Tymor''', which are popular [[W:Meme|memes]] on Sveafur.{{clarify}} At the top is a sausage, which is an in-joke on the forum for greeting new members, "välkommen" (''Welcome'') sounds similar to "varmkorven" (''Hotdog'').

The slogan '''''Fabler för vuxna barn''''' means '''''Fables for adult children'''''.

At [[NordicFuzzCon 2014]], the last remaining issue was sold during the charity auction for 1000 [[W:Swedish Krona|Swedish Krona]] (approx. $150.00), with 95% of the profits going to charity. This fanzine was signed by all attending artists ([[Fröken Keke]], [[AndyMcNub]], Frenzee and [[13]]), and is the only one which has been signed by that many of the artists.

== Second issue ==
[[File:Furluminati-Issue2.jpg|right|thumb|Cover of the second issue.]]
Talks of a second issue started almost immediately after the first issue was completed. Official work started in August 2013 with a deadline of February 2014<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5806</ref>. This fanzine was sold at [[NordicFuzzCon 2014]] and [http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholms_internationella_seriefestival Stockholms internationella seriefestival].

Following the positive reception of the first issue, more artists contributed on the second issue, which featured more comics and was close to double the length of the first issue. All but one artist from the first issue returned to work on the second. This year, [[Mondegreen]] helped Frenzee with editing the publication<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?p=170020#p170020</ref>.

The cover is inspired by [[W:Satanism|Satanism]] and features a [[W:Wicca|Wicca]] [[W:Pentagram|pentagram]] in the likeness of Ragnar, again with simple representations of Spökguden, Tymor and a sausage surrounding him. Regardless of this, the fanzine still bears its illuminati based title.

The slogan '''''Djurmänniskor utan liv''''' means '''''Animal people without lives'''''.

This is accomplished by giving all the different artists free creative control as long as the final result can be linked to furries, and while the covers suggest a specific theme for the content, there is no overall theme apart from furry fandom. The only recurring elements between the two issues are the artists, and in some cases their comics, as some choose to create sequels to their stories in the first issue.
An official language has never been decided, most comics are in Swedish, while some are in English, a few are intentionally void of dialogue.
All comics are in black and white because of cost-related issues.

== The First Issue ==
[[File:Furluminati-Issue1.jpg|right|thumb|Cover of the first issue.]]
Work on the first issue was started in October 2012 with the deadline of March 2013<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4867</ref>. The final product was sold at [[NordicFuzzCon 2013]] and [http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholms_internationella_seriefestival Stockholms internationella seriefestival]. The cover was an [[Wikipedia:illuminati|illuminati]] inspired design with a Sveafur twist, which was originally designed as an embroidered patch sold to members of the forum<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5741</ref>. The design features the forums mascot, the cyclops fox Ragnar, as the all-seeing eye inside a pyramid structure, at his sides are the joke deities Spökguden (''The Ghost God'') and Tymor, which are popular memes on Sveafur. At the top is a sausage, which is an in-joke on the forum for greeting new members, "välkommen" (''Welcome'') sounds similar to "varmkorven" (''Hotdog'').
The slogan "Fabler för vuxna barn" means "Fables for adult children".

At [[NordicFuzzCon 2014]], the last remaining issue was sold during the charity auction for 1000 SEK with 95% of the profits going to charity. This fanzine was signed by all attending artists (Fröken Keke, AndyMcNub, Frenzee and 13) and is the only one which has been signed by that many of the artists.

=== Content ===
* ''Tjuvjakt'' by [[Analon|Alexander Håkansson]]
* ''Rotten Empire'' by [[Fröken Keke]]
* ''Mario Tards'' by [[AndyMcNub]]
* ''Serien om den här serien'' by [[Frenzee]]
* ''Arrgh, Barbaren in: Fur and Loathing'' by [[SilentStranger]]
* ''Sagan om den snygga bruden och Fjantvargen'' by [[13]] & [[Krumbukt]]
:(A "foreword" by [[Vlad the Impala]] is featured on the back of the fanzine.)

== The Second Issue ==
This fanzine was sold at [[NordicFuzzCon 2014]] and will be sold at [http://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockholms_internationella_seriefestival Stockholms internationella seriefestival] later on.
Following the positive reception of the first issue, more artists contributed on the second issue, which featured more comics and was close to double the length of the first issue. All but one artist from the first issue returned to work on the second.
The cover is inspired by [[Wikipedia:Satanism|Satanism]] and features a wicca pentagram in the likeness of Ragnar, again with simple representations of Spökguden, Tymor and a sausage surrounding him. Regardless of this, the fanzine still bears its illuminati based title.
The slogan "Djurmänniskor utan liv" means "Animal people without lives".

=== Content ===
* Foreword by [[Vlad the Impala]]
* ''Hav av Grus'' by [[Luddvig Melin]]
* ''Carnivore Confusion'' by [[SilentStranger]]
* ''Vem ska trösta Snorkis?'' by [[Akeksis]]
* ''Det sissta blåsset'' by [[Frenzee]]
* ''Arrgh the Barbarian: Curse of the Mark'' by [[SilentStranger]]

}}
'''''Trannywolf''''' (Swedish title: ''Transavarg'') is a humorous [[webcomic]] and Flash cartoon franchise by [[Fröken Keke]]. The comic centers around the lives and times of a wolf who gains the ability to switch genders. ''Trannywolf'' is primarily hosted on Smackjeeves and is intended to be updated every Friday, though actual updates are very irregular.<ref>http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=91033</ref> While the protagonist shares its name with the author, the stories are purely fictional.

== Plot ==
''Trannywolf'' is the story about the transgendered wolf Keke/Kiki who, after a lab accident gains the ability to switch genders through the use of a necklace. The stories are episodic and mostly self-contained, usually slice of life with occasional fantastical elements. The setting is a fictional Swedish suburb called Lunaville.

There has been several crossovers with the webcomic ''[[Sounds Like a Melody]]'' by [[Owlor]], to the extent that the comics can be considered to have a shared universe.

=== Cast ===
The cast of ''Trannywolf'':<ref>http://trannywolf.smackjeeves.com/characters/</ref>
* '''Keke/Kiki''' - The titular "trannywolf".
* '''Ylva''' - Keke/Kiki's sister, also a wolf.
* '''Twiga''' - A giraffe friend of the protagonist.
* '''Lao''' - A panda friend of the protagonist.
* '''Doc''' - A local scientist who's experiment gained Keke/Kiki the ability to switch genders.
* '''Rover''' & '''Bailey''' - A border collie and sheep showbiz duo.

== Chapters ==
* '''Transelectricity''' - Tells the backstory of how Keke/Kiki gained the ability to switch genders.
* '''The Fall of Keke Starmud and the Colours in Greyscale''' - A local music contest is held in Lunaville, and Keke signs up despite knowing nothing about playing music.
* '''Radiated Rain''' - Kiki thinks about the rain on a rainy day.
* '''Neck of Town''' - Twiga invites his friends over to his house.

=== Spinoffs ===
These are ''Trannywolf'' related comics that aren't hosted along with the main comic, it's questionable if they can be considered canon.
* '''Radio Keke''' - A [[Wikipedia:24-hour comic|24 Hour Comic Day]] effort by Fröken Keke to have a radio broadcast in comic format.<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?p=118991#p118991</ref>
* '''Metakalendern''' - A Christmas calendar hosted on the Swedish gaming forum [http://loading.se/ Loading.se], where every day was a short Trannywolf comic strip.<ref>http://loading.se/blogg.php?user_id=17962&blogg_id=27838</ref>
* '''Rotten Empire''' - A comic about the upper class of Victorian England. Despite the time period, the protagonist appears to be Kiki. This comic was featured in the first issue of the [[Furluminati Fanzine]].

=== Animation, videos and interactive media ===
There has been several ''Trannywolf'' related videos and interactive stories.
* '''Stumfilm/Silent Film''' - Flash cartoon, Doc creates a device which can silence anything, Kiki then uses it to cause mischief.
* '''Morning Glory''' - Interactive Flash, Kiki goes through an everyday morning, the player has to help her get through it alive by making the right decisions.
* '''Oktoberfilm''' - Flash cartoon, Kiki and Lao have a discussion about Halloween.
* '''Att vara till nytta för Fröken Keke!''' - Puppet video, Kiki has a Christmas show with commercials and song numbers. Made for the Swedish gaming forum [http://loading.se/ Loading.se].<ref>http://loading.se/blogg.php?user_id=17962&blogg_id=24766</ref>

Daisy Bell:

'''''Deras hobby – att klä sig i djurdräkt''''' (in English '''''Their hobby - to dress up in animal costume''''') is an article which appeared in Sweden's free daily ''[[Wikipedia:Metro (Sweden)|Metro]]'' newspaper. The article was published on June 10, 2012.

The fursuiters [[Vlad the Impala|Dopey]], [[Trax]] and [[Ethan Staghorn|Jake]] are featured prominently, though the writer confused Dopey and Jake with each other.

== History ==
[[File:SveaFurLogo.png|right|thumb|SveaFur logo as of 2008]]
In early 2006, a group of Swedish [[furry fan]]s{{who}} were displeased with the options available for Swedish furries to socialize with one another. The only active line of communication was the [[IRC]] channel [[SweFur]] and some felt that they wanted more than an IRC channel to go by. So Ratiries got the idea to start "SveaFur", together with Ricadonna, who volunteered to host the website.

SveaFur soon started to gather interest and growth. After five months of operation, the membership totaled around 30 individuals, and several [[furmeet]]s have been held in the cities of [[Wikipedia:Lund|Lund]], [[Wikipedia:Malmö|Malmö]], [[Wikipedia:Gothenburg|Gothenburg]] and [[Wikipedia:Stockholm|Stockholm]], arranged by SveaFur members.

Members have also come together to create their own [[World of Warcraft]] guild (now closed), which was open to any SveaFur member, and which had an own subforum on the main SveaFur forum. It used to share a forum with the [[Anthro World War II Art Bunker]], now closed.

They also have a section for english speaking furs.

In May 2009 the forum went down and posts from the last few months were lost. The day after it went down, it was moved to another server, and the domain sveafur.se was registered.
Recent activities includes opening an online channel in which members watch and discuss movies and shows together, and creating a Steam group for gaming related events.

In July 2009, the forum was moved to a more permanent server and had a quite needed revamping of the forum structure, adding a few new categories and removing some old, unused ones.

Daisy Bell:

[[File:TrannywolfTitle.png|right|400px]]
'''Trannywolf''' (Swedish title: ''Transavarg'') is a humorous [[webcomic]] and Flash cartoon franchise by [[Fröken Keke]]. The comic centers around the lives and times of a wolf who gains the ability to switch genders. Trannywolf is primarily hosted on Smackjeeves and is intended to be updated every Friday, though actual updates are very irregular.<ref>http://www.smackjeeves.com/comicprofile.php?id=91033</ref>
While the protagonist shares its name with the author, the stories are purely fictional.

== Plot ==
Trannywolf is the story about the transgendered wolf Keke/Kiki who, after a lab accident gains the ability to switch genders through the use of a necklace. The stories are episodic and mostly self-contained, usually slice of life with occasional fantastical elements. The setting is a fictional Swedish suburb called Lunaville.
There has been several crossovers with the webcomic [[Sounds Like a Melody]] by [[Owlor]], to the extent that the comics can be considered to have a shared universe.

Furluminati Fanzine

2014-03-07T18:20:31Z

Daisy Bell:

'''Furluminati Fanzine''' (sometimes referred to as the '''Sveafur Fanzine''') is an annual [[fanzine|independently produced comic book]] by the Swedish furry community [[Sveafur]]. It features comics written and illustrated by various artists of the community and is edited by [[Frenzee]].

== Background ==
There had been talks and interest for a Swedish furry fanzine on Sveafur for a long time before the original realization of the Furluminati fanzine<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=115</ref>, at least two such efforts had been talked about but without any fruition. The fanzine was finally organized after a discussion about the absence of popular Swedish comic publications like [[Wikipedia:Pyton|Pyton]] and Pox<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4862</ref>, which served as an inspiration to create something new with the same spirit.
The general idea of the fanzine is to act as a representation of all the various aspects of furry culture and be accessible for both furries and people outside the fandom.

== The First Issue ==

=== Content ===
* ''Tjuvjakt'' by [[Alexander Håkansson]]
* ''Rotten Empire'' by [[Fröken Keke]]
* ''Mario Tards'' by [[AndyMcNub]]

== The Second Issue ==

=== Content ===
* Foreword by [[Vlad the Impala]]
* ''Hav av Grus'' by [[Luddvig Melin]]
* ''Carnivore Confusion'' by [[SilentStranger]]
* ''Vem ska trösta Snorkis?'' by [[Akeksis]]
* ''Det sissta blåsset'' by [[Frenzee]]
* ''Arrgh the Barbarian: Curse of the Mark'' by [[SilentStranger]]
* ''Tjuvjakt 2'' by [[Alexander Håkansson]]
* ''Lämna mig ifred'' by [[Fröken Keke]]
* ''Heard from Facebook'' by [[AndyMcNub]]
* ''The Bjäffer'' by [[Chricko]]
* ''The Prince & the Knight'' by [[AndyMcNub]]
* ''Alla hjärtans'' by [[Acchon]]
* ''Kasper Katt'' by [[R. Axelsson]]

== History ==

== Events ==
[[File:RagnarPlush.png|right|thumb|The Ragnar plush produced by Alexistar.]]
Two times a year since 2010, once in the summer and once in the winter, there are meets in the city of Gothenburg.

In 2013, a fanzine named [[Furluminati Fanzine|Furluminati]] was made and sold at [[NordicFuzzCon 2013]] and Small Press Expo in Stockholm<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=4867</ref>. A follow-up was made and sold on [[NordicFuzzCon 2014]] the following year, which was longer and featured more artists.<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=5806</ref>

In 2013, the official mascot Ragnar was produced as a plushie by Alexistar and sold to members of the forum.<ref>http://sveafur.se/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=5826</ref>

== SveaFur and #swefur ==

Despite some discouraging from selected [[swefur|#swefur]] users<ref>http://community.livejournal.com/swefur/8629.html</ref>, SveaFur hopes one day to affiliate itself with the IRC-channel, and merge them together. The two have recently started interacting more but still have a long way to go, one problem being that they attract quite different types of furries.{{clarify}}

The general idea of the fanzine is to act as a representation of all the various aspects of furry culture and be accessible for both furries and people outside the fandom.

== The First Issue ==

== The Second Issue ==

== The Third Issue ==
