Talk:List of Fur Affinity users who survived the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami

2011-06-12T08:33:49Z

CodyDenton: Not sure deletion is the answer; the article may have a valid purpose.

Wait what. [[File:Scalesona.jpg|40x40px]][[User:Equivamp|Equivamp]] 02:20, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
:I decided to start this list because of how many Japanese users on FA were asked by non-Japanese nationals their status post-Tohoku. It's a subject that matters not only because of the Japanese [[kemono]] fandom participation on FA, but also because of the severe language barrier which exists between Japanese and other users, which adds a significant difficulty to getting messages across to each other that doesn't exist for persons from even non-English-speaking-majority countries. Furries on FA often get wound up when they encounter the art of someone who has just died and will often leave messages of condolences, so how can they do that when the self-confirmation of a Japanese furry's "alive" status is difficult and hampered by English(to)Japanese((to)English) translation? This list is a go-to for viewers of Japanese furry art due to the potential impact on the [[kemono]] fandom in Japan. --[[User:RayneVanDunem|RayneVanDunem]] 02:59, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
::Regardless of the language of the post, the date should be enough to tell someone they aren't dead. [[File:Scalesona.jpg|40x40px]][[User:Equivamp|Equivamp]] 03:02, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
:::That's the thing. Most of the individuals who did respond simply used the shoutbox, which does not have a DA-like page function to sift through whole archives of shouts. Journal post confirmations were the rare exception, and most of the users from Japan simply didn't post any sort of confirmation in shouts or journals, but just continued to keep posting submissions or fav favorites; the latter two means are often the only means to tell that those artists survived the disaster. --[[User:RayneVanDunem|RayneVanDunem]] 03:34, 12 June 2011 (EDT)

:::As well-meaning as this page is, I don't think it belongs on WikiFur. It seems to be crossing the line into "original research". (Compare with the similar [[9/11 Furry Status Page]], which summarised (and referenced) a list made off-WikiFur.) --[[User:Higgs Raccoon|Higgs Raccoon]] 03:23, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
::::True. An off-site might be better. I'm trying not to turn this "original research", since that would entail that I simply don't use any references. References-gathering is difficult, and I'm uploading screencaps of shoutbox comments posted by users when they simply don't post journals to their profiles. --[[User:RayneVanDunem|RayneVanDunem]] 03:34, 12 June 2011 (EDT)
:::::I think that we need to discuss this more before a decision is made as to appropriateness. I personally don't see that it's hurting anything, it's well-intended, and it may be a useful reference to someone. Yes, we have a rule about [[WF:OR|original research]]. But we also have a project that is similar in spirit to Wikipedia, and the fifth pillar of Wikipedia is that [[Wikipedia:WP:IAR|Wikipedia does not have firm rules]]. There are reasons to make exceptions, when the exception serves a higher purpose. Before we rush to decide that this entry doesn't belong, I'm just asking that we also ask whether it's hurting anything and whether it serves the greater good to delete it, or to leave it (at least for the short-term until the situation is stable). --[[User:CodyDenton|CodyDenton]] 04:33, 12 June 2011 (EDT)

'''God Hates Furries''' is an [[anti-furry]] website recording what it considers to the be the "''dark, crazy side of the [[Furry]] internet [[:Category:Community|community]]''". It lists examples such as [[furry artwork]] and [[:Category:Websites|websites]], as well as providing sarcastic reviews and guides on furry sites and how to deal with [[furs]].

Although generally seen as an anti-furry website, it is likely to be satire judging from its over-the-top tone and style, and because its name is a play on words parodying the better known website [http://www.godhatesfags.com God Hates Fags].

The website encouraged furs to write and complain to the site. Many e-mails were posted and replied to. The site also hosted a gallery of photos of what were considered poorly-constructed [[fursuit]]s.

On the 14 August 2005, [[WikiFur]] was mentioned on the website, including quotes from some of the less developed articles and mentioning the fact that some parts of the wiki were locked to editing due to vandalism. [[GreenReaper]] later contacted J to thank him for the link, which sent over 100 visitors to WikiFur.

Bagheera (character)

{{Dyktalk|June 08|2011}}

[[Image:Kurt wiese jungle book cover.jpg|thumb|right|200px|Bagheera, Baloo and Mowgli on the cover of the US edition of ''The Jungle Book'', Doubleday, c.1932]]
'''Bagheera''' is a black-toned Indian [[leopard]] (also known as a [[panther]]) character, first depicted in Rudyard Kipling's ''[[The Jungle Book]]'' in 1894 and ''[[The Second Jungle Book]]'' in 1895.

==Background==
Born in captivity in a [[Wikipedia:Menagerie|menagerie]], he eventually escapes into the jungle, where he wins the respect of all its other inhabitants. This background gives him a special insight into the behaviour of humans. When Mowgli is adopted by the [[wolf]] pack, Bagheera buys his life with a freshly killed [[bull]], and helps raise him as one of the pack, acting as one of the "man-cub"'s mentors. When Mowgli reaches adulthood and has to return to human society, Bagheera frees Mowgli of his debt to the wolf pack by killing another bull.

==Media portrayal==
[[File:Bagheera disney jungle book.jpg|300pcx|thumb|right|Bagheera as depicted in Disney's adaptation of ''[[The Jungle Book]]'']]
[[File:Th JungleCubsBagheera.gif|300pcx|thumb|right|Bagheera as depicted in the cartoon series ''[[Jungle Cubs]]'']]
In the [[Wikipedia:The Jungle Book (1967 film)|Disney adaptation]] of ''The Jungle Book'' (1967), Bagheera acts as the narrator of the story, and is portrayed as a clever, serious and responsible character, being the first to find Mowgli, and the one who finally returns him to the human village. He and Baloo, the bear, act as Mowgli's guides and mentors in the ways of the jungle but, in contrast to Baloo's free and relaxed attitude to life, Bagheera realises that the man-cub is not safe in the jungle while the tiger [[Shere Khan]] is free to roam, and is continually frustrated in his attempts to explain the danger. The character was voiced by English actor [[Wikipedia:Sebastian Cabot|Sebastian Cabot]].

In the prequel cartoon series ''[[Jungle Cubs]]'', Bagheera (or "Baggy" as he is affectionately called), is the youngest of the group, a sensible and solemn panther who rarely gets into trouble and with a preoccupation with being clean.

The Anthrocon Recruiting Song

2011-06-10T06:45:07Z

CodyDenton: Added {{Dyktalk}}

{{Dyktalk|June 08|2011}}

'''The Anthrocon Recruiting Song''' is written primarily by [[Steve Simmons]] during and about the first few [[Anthrocon|Anthrocons]] he worked. The purpose was both to document some of the fun of working the convention and to induce new staffers to join the [[security]] crew. He can be induced to sing it with proper application of beer or scotch and the loan of a guitar.

The melody is taken from the 1960s [[Wikipedia:The Mamas & the Papas|Mamas and Papas]] hit "[[Wikipedia:Creeque Alley|Creeque Alley]]."

::::;The Anthrocon Recruiting Song

: Here come [[Rene Gobeyn|Rennie]], wond'rin' if there's any-
: Body who can work Anthrocon.
: [[Uncle Kage|Kage's]] worried, says a lot of furries
: Need DI to help 'em along.
: There's a nice little suite where we crash
: And Uncle Kage throws a helluva bash.
: [[Joanne Hall|Froggie]] and [[John Hall|Bear]]-e with savvy-wa-fair-ee
: And a dozen [[Dorsai Irregulars|DI]] soldiered along
:: When twelve hundred folks showed up at Anthrocon.

: Kage says "Rennie, I wonder how many
: Folks you'll have to do the contract next year?
: We'll be bigger, I think you better figure
: Double what you had to be clear.
: We'll get a nice big suite where you crash.
: And after all we throw a hell of a bash."
: Rene screamed out for crew, [[Diana Hunt|Diana]] and Steve came thru,
: And ev'ryone had too much to do
:: When two thousand folks showed up at Anthrocon.

: Midnight movie's sounding pretty groovy
: 'Specially since we get to watch too.
: Rocky Horror, we need say no more nor
: Wonder what the furries will do?
: There's Janet, dammit, isn't she cute?
: And Frankenfurter looks real good in a squirrel suit.
: Simmons and [[David Stein|Stein]] threw out the old lines
: And learned a couple new ones too.
:: When two thousand folks sang out at Anthrocon.

: Hirsutes, fur suits, wonder-what-they-were suits
: This is something you gotta see (oh, my, my)
: The fans all thank us, it's number 1 they rank us,
: "Can I hug you, Mister See-Cure-I-Tee, ee-ee"
: The elevators crew's getting fat
: As pizza guys ply them with fruit juice and choc-late
: Orderin' Chinese, ending up on our knees
: It's only Friday, can we keep on?
:: When twenty-four hundred came to Anthrocon.

: Derek's spritely, dances with delight be-
: Tween the twirlin' glow sticks and glo-oo-oom
: [[Furp]] steps lightly, makes his every nightly
: Trip to the Emergency Room.
: We're grazin' on the Super Sponsors nosh stocks,
: Wearing out the red shirts, breaking out the toe socks.
: Fur is a sensation, sweeping 'cross the nation,
: Gatherin' fans as it moves along:
:: Three thousand folks next year at Anthrocon.

{{Dyktalk|June 8|2011|'''Byblos''', originally named Masque, is a role-playing game site which caters to players of any form, whether furry, human, xeno, mythos, or so on. The site, which went fully live in January 2011 after a 2-year development and testing cycle, also hosts images, chat, private messages, and discussion forums.}}

== Byblos-RP ==

'''Byblos''' (www.byblos-rp.net), originally named Masque, is a role-playing site which caters to any form of user; be it furry, human, xeno, mythos or any other form of being. The site allows both 18 over and under users entry; though the under 18s are verified and blocked off from any and all adult content which may befall their eyes. The site allows artwork posting, role-playing and general discussion between members of various backgrounds, through both use of the forum boards and the AJAX chat.

Set up by [http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Talija Kaj], [http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Micah_Coon Errant] and [http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/LadyDarkSphynx Ikari] in 2010, the site came into existance toward the end of [[Furry-Within]] prior to it's regeneration. The site was lifted into existence after Kaj and Ikari - who all had experience both in running and trying to revive dying role play websites - concluded that there was a distinct lack of role-play websites that were furry-friendly enough. Prior to the setting up, both had been in talks of setting up a website which would incorporate these factors. These discussions began after the merger of [http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Yiffy.net Yiffy.net] with [http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Yiffy.Tk Yiffy.tk], and had continued through after the pair took up position as the [http://en.wikifur.com/wiki/Furry-Within Furry-Within] admin. Concluding that they had ran other sites long enough, both decided they wanted to bring their own site into existence and run it from start to finish. After further talks, the two asked Errant to join on and be a part of the site as an admin. An offer which he accepted.

== Site Opening: Alpha, Beta, Gold ==

Byblos was opened on 2009 under an invite only policy. The very early stages had been testing which were ran on Kaj's personal website. This included only a group of friends as well as the three admin to test the ideas out and begin working out a process. Members were required to match the 18 over age limit.

On April 2010, Byblos entered Beta mode. The site gained it's own URL rather than just being a part of a personal site. Here, the members were still required to be both 18 and over as well as invited by a current member, confirmed after the staff considered if they wanted the invitee to be a part of the community. The site became less niched, however, as more people were allowed entry. This started off the site growth, drawing in multiple members from Furry-Within, Yiffy.net, newly formed Yiffy.tk and the occasional from the FurAffinity forums, provided they cleared the staff's approval.

This was the process which ran for several months, before being altered in January 2011, after concluding it was holding the site back, changing instead to an open doors policy. After further talks, the site workings were once again altered to allow both 18 unders and 18 overs onto the site, with 18 overs being given access to all areas including the adult sections. 18 unders are restricted from viewing any adult role-playing sections or adult artwork. Now in the gold stages, the site continues to build on it's user base, inviting as many new recruits as possible to join in as well as promoting members working together to create role-plays.

The Alpha testing site was brought offline by Kaj in February 2011.

[[Taryn Crimson]] joined the site staff as Tech Admin at the start of the limited Beta, and was responsible for the site's initial setting up and bug-stomping. Not long before Byblos-RP eventually went live, Taryn left his position by mutual consent due to the site's technical issues moving beyond a level he was comfortable tinkering with. He was in time replaced by [[TigerPaw]], who had some experience of working with the admin team from their time on Yiffy.net, when he had been both their part-time tech admin and the owner of the site's host server. However, owing to the busyness of his primary occupation, TigerPaw's available time to work on the site is limited and the site staff are currently looking for a full-time, long-term solution to their technical needs.

In preparation for the site's anticipated go-live date, the Byblos-RP admin announced that they would be accepting applications for the role of Moderator, with the successful applicants being [[Zappy|Cheshire Cat]], [[Neco_Kat|Daughters of the Moon]] and [[Thalassa|Thalassa]], who were all promoted together to help deal with the influx of issues and work that the site's opening would herald.

Not long after this, and owing in part to the busy life schedules of the existing staff, a further moderator vacancy was noticed, with the site admin keen to have a younger member with more free-time join the team. [[Arai]] was deemed the most promising of the applicants and so also joined the team as a moderator.

== Site Features ==

Byblos offers a number of features for it's members to use so that they may enjoy the experience more. Besides the role-play and discussion boards, the site features an AJAX chat, which can be used by any signed up member so that they may become involved in on-site live chat with both staff and other members. This includes a private message feature which allow members to discreetly interact while on the chat.

On the forum, the site features an Ultimate Profile feature. This allows members to added sectioned information in categories, as well as adding music and video, comments, on forum friend adds and picture uploads; all of which can be viewed through a members forum profile.

Otherwise, Byblos hosts multi-member voice chats on Skype, which often results in a mix of awkward silence and much hilarity.

CodyDenton: vote for delete (not specifically Furry, and a Wikipedia article with sources already exists).

I think this is stretching things in terms of relevance and need to be an article here. -- [[User:Sine|Sine]] 19:20, 9 June 2011 (EDT)
:Well, the fact that there are a crap-ton of cat costumes may suffice, though I agree this is more [[wikipedia:Witch hunt|Witch Hunt]] related than anything else (not to mention sadistic, but that's beside the point). [[User:Equivamp|Equivamp]] 19:36, 9 June 2011 (EDT)
::I normally am inclined towards a very liberal interpretation of [[WF:N|notability]] since [[metawikipedia:Wiki is not paper|server resources are cheap]]. But the guiding principle here has been whether someone else is doing it better. [[Wikipedia]] has an [[Wikipedia:Kattenstoet|article on this]] complete with citations. I can't see a single angle of this that we can cover that makes it unique to the fandom and thus merits separate inclusion here. == About me ==

I've been lurking about the [[fandom]] since mid-2009, making me a relative newcomer to furry, especially considering I'm much older than the average fur. Other than the fact that I might remember songs that you don't, though, please don't let the difference in age throw you. I'm friendly and enjoy meeting new people, and I tend to be enthusiastic about the projects that I care about. That's what led me to jump in as an editor at WikiFur.

==Contacting me==

The preferred way to contact me for all matters regarding WikiFur is on my '''[[User Talk:Cody Denton|talk page]]''', which is also automatically forwarded to my email for quick attention. You may also reach me via '''[[Special:EmailUser/CodyDenton|private email]]'''. When I'm actively editing, I also monitor '''#wikifur''' on [irc://irc.freenode.com irc.freenode.com]. You might need to call my name to attract my attention. Please note that I don't monitor IRC unless I'm actively engaged with working on WikiFur at the time, so if you don't see me logged in, please try one of the alternate methods.

== My thoughts on WikiFur as "the furry encyclopedia" ==

The fandom is constantly evolving and changing, and that means that we need a source of information that is accurate, dynamic and stable:
* Accurate, in that the information in it is encyclopedic in nature: factual, unbiased, and well-referenced.
* Dynamic, in that it can be updated instantly with new information.
* Stable, in that it serves as a historical archive to preserve the legacy of the fandom.

WikiFur belongs to the [[furry]] community. Consistent with the [[Wikipedia:wiki|wiki]] philosophy, anyone with the relevant knowledge and desire can jump in to write and edit articles. With that freedom comes responsibility, for we must be good stewards of this resource. WikiFur should be fun, certainly, but at its core, it should also be original, relevant, informative, and well-referenced. Those elements are essential to promoting an atmosphere of trust in the community, and establishing us as a reliable source for information on all things furry.

== Hey, why did you edit my page? ==

Well, first of all, it's the community's page, not yours personally (unless it's a User: page). If I edited something that you submitted, it is because I believed those edits were needed to improve the article. That's not meant to disparage you, or what you wrote; it just means that I felt that additional work was needed to improve the article to WikiFur standards. My work gets edited by others too, for this is the spirit of a wiki: each editor works to improve upon the work of those who came before them, and thus over time, the content grows and matures. Likewise, if I reverted some of your edits to a previous state, it's because I felt that the changes you made did not reflect the character and purpose of WikiFur. Examples would be posting spam or vandalism, or taking out factual information that is relevant to the fandom. You are always welcome to use my [[User Talk:Cody Denton|Talk:]] page to start a discussion about edits made. You can also use the Talk: (discussion) page for any article to discuss an article and what it needs; this is appropriate when you want to solicit the feedback of the whole community. You should also check out [[Help:Contents|the help area]] to learn more about editing at WikiFur.

== Current projects ==
My main project right now is to help create guideline documents for many of the topics that editors are accustomed to seeing from [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia|Wikipedia]], such as:
*[[WF:BOLD|Be bold]]
*[[WF:BITE|Please do not bite the newcomers]]
*[[WF:AGF|Assume good faith]]
*[[WF:Notability, verifiability, and original research|Notability, verifiability, and original research]]
*[[WF:Consensus|Consensus]]
*[[WF:EDITWAR|Edit warring]]
*[[WF:DISPUTE|Dispute resolution]] --> Graciously submitted by [[User:GingerM]]
*[[WF:NPOV|Neutral point of view]]
Although I am trying to write the base documents from what I perceive as a consensus view, I welcome and encourage my fellow editors to please jump in and help improve them.

==Miscellaneous to-do list==
This section is mostly a set of reminders to myself, so if it doesn't make sense to you, please don't sweat it. :-)

* rework template reference pages -- some templates are missing or not fully documented. (Welcome templates, PE, various userpage templates, etc.)
* work on orphaned articles and see if they can be interlinked with other articles on the wiki
* work on media coverage articles/stubs and try to develop a uniform way to make them more easily searchable

CodyDenton: add FCN infobox to user page templates

These templates are for use on a user's personal page, those in the ''User:'' namespace. These are optional; however, some are only to be placed on a user's page by a curator to indicate the status of a banning or that they are in breach of wiki rules.

WikiFur:Featured article candidates

CodyDenton: Adding new FAC as proposed by Equivamp

{{guideline}}
Here we determine which articles are featured on [[WikiFur:Featured articles]], and on the front page. '''A featured article should exemplify WikiFur's very best work.''' See [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:What is a featured article|what is a featured article]] for criteria.

Once [[Wikipedia:Consensus|consensus]] has been reached about a particular topic, place a summary of it it in the next available slot, and update the featured article pages to reflect this. For an article that is particularly significant on a certain day, such as a radio broadcast, it may be suitable to postpone it to a later date.

__TOC__
== Procedure ==

=== Adding nominations ===
#'''Check the [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:What is a featured article|featured article criteria]]''' and make sure the article meets ''all'' of them before nominating.
#*WikiFur is not as big as Wikipedia, therefore it may be appropriate to nominate articles that are lacking in one or more areas. You should still try to remedy this to the best of your ability before nominating it.
#Place <tt><nowiki>{{FAC}}</nowiki></tt> on the talk page of the nominated article.
#From there, click on the "leave comments" link.
#''(If you are resubmitting an article)'' Use the '''Move''' button to rename the previous nomination to an archive. For example, [[WikiFur:Featured article candidates/Television]] → [[WikiFur:Featured article candidates/Television/archive1]]
#Place <tt><nowiki>===[[name of nominated article]]===</nowiki></tt> at the top.
#Below it, write your reason for nominating the article.
#Finally, place <tt><nowiki>{{WikiFur:Featured article candidates/name of nominated article}}</nowiki></tt> at the top of the list of nominees on this page by first copying the above, clicking "edit" on the top of the page, and then pasting, making sure to add the name of the nominated article.

=== Supporting and objecting ===

Please read nominated articles fully before deciding to support or oppose a nomination.
* To edit nominations in order to comment on them, you must click the "edit" link to the right of the article nomination on which you wish to comment (not the overall page's "edit this page" link).
* If you approve of an article, write <nowiki>'''Support'''</nowiki> followed by your reasons.
* If you oppose a nomination, write <nowiki>'''Object'''</nowiki> followed by the reason for your objection. Each objection must provide '''a specific rationale that can be addressed'''. If nothing can be done in principle to "fix" the source of the objection, the objection may be ignored.
** To withdraw an objection, strike it out (with <tt><nowiki><s>...</s></nowiki></tt>) rather than removing it.

Consensus must be reached in order to be promoted to featured article status. This will probably involve some changes to the article based on feedback. Before objecting, consider just changing the article yourself so you don't have to.

=== Writing a good summary ===

Once an article has been selected, it should be summarised in a way that encourages readers to read more about the topic. Ideally, the first paragraph of a featured article is already a [[Wikipedia:Wikipedia:Lead section|lead section]], but if it is not you may need to adjust the article. You '''should''' merge these sorts of refactoring changes back to the original.

Once this is done, pick and choose sections of the lead to be placed in the featured text. You may also decide to include the lead portions of further sections within the article, or to synthesise your own summary of them. Try to include plenty of links within the summary so that readers have an easy time reading about related topics too.

The final touch is the picture. This should usually be right-aligned and sized to anywhere between 100px to 150px, depending on the shape of the image. Don't forget to turn the text of the article name into a '''bolded''' link to the article, otherwise people won't be able to read more about the topic.

=== Featuring an article ===
Once the summary is written, you should feature the article:

#Place the summary on the appropriate page - e.g. <tt><nowiki>[[WikiFur:This week's featured article/</nowiki>Week {{CURRENTWEEK}}, {{CURRENTYEAR}}]]</tt>
#Change the template on the article's talk page from <tt><nowiki>{{FAC}}</nowiki></tt> to <tt><nowiki>{{featured}}</nowiki></tt>
#Add <tt><nowiki>{{featured article}}</nowiki></tt> to the very bottom of the article itself (''after'' categories)
#Make a note of the featured article in the [[WikiFur:Featured articles#{{CURRENTMONTHNAME}} {{CURRENTYEAR}}|appropriate section]] of the Featured articles page
#Add <tt><nowiki>{{WikiFur:This week's featured article/</nowiki>Week {{CURRENTWEEK}}, {{CURRENTYEAR}}}}</tt> to the top of the [[WikiFur:Featured articles/Complete|complete list of featured articles]]
#Click the header of the month name on that page to bring up the featured article log for that month, and move the nomination discussion template from below to the top of that page.

2011-06-10T03:07:18Z

CodyDenton: Article needs revision, fact-checking, and citations.

Article currently says “re-edited footage from Rick Castro's short film Plushies”. I'm wondering if the pre-MTV version was titled ''Plushies And Furries''. I've seen various sites that say ''Plushies and Furries'' such as the [http://worldofwonder.net/productions/networks/mtv_networks/plushies_and_furries.wow production company's website] and [http://rickcastro.com/resume.html Rick Castro's resume] and Rick's resume lists ''Plushies and Furries'' with 3 dates (2001, 2002 and 2003). The closest I've seen to a Castro vid titled "Plushies" is the [http://rickcastro.com/plushie201.mov sample video at rickcastro.com] which starts off with “World of Wonder Presents” and “Plushie”. --[[User:EarthFurst|EarthFurst]] 23:37, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

'''''Plushies and Furries''''' is a short documentary film by [[Rick Castro]], which aired as an episode of '''''Sex2K''''' on [[Wikipedia:MTV|MTV]], and on Channel 5 UK. ''Plushies and Furries'' followed one furry adventurer through [[Midwest Furfest]]. The episode was a sex-based portrayal of the furry subculture that some argue is unfavorable, following quickly on the heels of ''[[Vanity Fair]]'''s article earlier in the year.

{{dubious}}
According to Yote, [http://www.pressedfur.com/comments/anonymous-sex2k.html the entire thing was faked] and his mother already knew about his interest in fursuiting and furry fandom. The scenes were shot a couple years before the ''Vanity Fair'' article came out. "It was all faked and made up by pyewacket [Rick Castro] so that he could have drama and a story," Yote wrote on a fursuit mailing list in 2002.
According to Rick Castro{{fact}}, Yote was well aware of where the interview was going as was his mother. Reportedly, they had to sign releases beforehand and therefore would have known the outcome{{fact}}. There was nothing made up about the questions and answers. The only thing that was created was the time of events. This was done to facilitate organizing a shooting schedule.

Many of furs that participated in the side interviews were told their interviews would be used for a much different type of show, and the artists were similarly lied to by [[Rick Castro]], the producer. For example, [[Michael Higgs]] was told his art was going to be used in a special about up-and-coming comic artists.

Rick Castro attended several furry conventions in the two or three years prior to the first airing of this episode, and professed to be "a furry working on a personal project." In fact, Rick Castro is a professional filmmaker, producer of documentaries involving the porn industry, and a professional fetish photographer as evidenced by his adults-only website at [http://rickcastro.com RickCastro.com].

In the episode ''Plushies and Furries,'' a title screen between scenes was added to Rick Castro's original footage that said, "Yote attends his first confurence." This used the registered service mark "[[ConFurence]]" in the context of a generic term for a furry-themed convention (in this case, referring to ''Midwest Fur Fest''), and was '''not''' referring to the convention hosted annually by [[The ConFurence Group]] for which the service mark was registered. [[Darrel Exline]], owner of ''The ConFurence Group'' traded multiple letters with [[wikipedia:MTV Networks|MTV Networks]]' legal department over their improper use of the registered service mark but was unable to resolve the issue without starting expensive litigation.

[[Image:Ssj3.jpg|right|thumb|110px|RainRat as [[Wikipedia:SSJ3|Super Saiyan 3]]. He loves [[Wikipedia:Dragon Ball Z|Dragon Ball Z]] and "energy"]][[Image:Hat Fox.JPG|right|thumb|A fox hat, made by RainRat]][[Image:Snow Paw Print.JPG|right|thumb|One project that he did with a small group of other furries was create a giant pawprint in the snow.]]
'''RainRat''', aka '''bogglerat''' on [[LiveJournal]] or just '''Rat''', (born November 20, 1978) is a [[male]] [[furry]] who lives in [[Wikipedia:Burnaby, British Columbia|Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada]]. He has a slight preference for '''RainRat''' rather than '''Rain Rat'''.

==Personal information and history==
He has been to [[Conifur]], [[Howloween]], [[Further Confusion]], [[Anthrocon 2004]], [[Anthrocon 2007|2007]] (as SuperSponsor), and [[Anthrocon 2009|2009]], [[Califur 2]] and [[Califur 3|3]], [[Rainfurrest 2007]], [[Rainfurrest 2008|2008]], and [[Rainfurrest 2009|2009]], [[Midwest FurFest 2007]], and [[All Fur Fun 2009]]. He has been on staff for Howloween. His first performance in a convention masquerade was a skit with five other [[fursuiter]]s at Anthrocon 2007 about an armistice between [[rat (species)|rats]] and [[ferret]]s in an alternate [[Wikipedia:Word War II|Word War II]].<ref>http://community.livejournal.com/anthrocon/324837.html</ref> His second performance was at Rainfurrest 2007 where he sang [[Wikipedia:Yakko's World|Yakko's World]] live, while pointing to the countries at the same time, while wearing an open-face Yakko costume.<ref>http://xodiac.livejournal.com/107876.html</ref> His third was a Pirates vs Ninjas skit at [[Further Confusion 2008]] with several other fursuiters.

RainRat found the furry community late-October 2002. He didn't have a fur name at first, but soon went by '''rat''' (lowercase, because it was more a description than an actual name). When he got LiveJournal, he chose the name '''bogglerat''' because even though he doesn't consider his skill at [[Wikipedia:Boggle|Boggle]] to be all that exceptional, some furries nicknamed him that after watching him play. It's not his typical name in spoken conversation though. On his way back from [[Further Confusion 2004]], he was pondering a new name, because "rat" wasn't very distinctive at a big con like that. He was considering SnowRat, but the weather being how it is where he lives in Burnaby, it was raining, not snowing, so '''RainRat''' struck him as a much more appropriate name.

The interest in rats comes from the fact that he had pet rats even before he found the furry community, and he found them to be very social and interesting animals. In total, he has had eight pet rats (not all at the same time though).

On December 8, 2006, RainRat received his Canadian ham radio license, after tutoring from [[Trapa]]. His interest in the radio exam is more a matter of the intellectual challenge than a need to do anything with the radios.

Two LiveJournal communities, {{lj-comm|rodentfurs}} and {{lj-comm|vanfurs}} have also been started and maintained by him. He also almost-always hosts the vanfurs Game Night at his home. His place has also been the location for the [[vfur]] [[furmeet]] a few times. In March 2009 he was made one of the moderators of [[vfur]]. He started the [[BC Furry Community Board]] in March 2009, with help from [[Frysco]] and [[Rino]].

RainRat often contributes to [[WikiFur]] and was promoted to administrator October 25, 2005. RainRat has [[User:Rat/ImageLicenses|released thousands of his images]] under [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0] or other free license. He also runs a [[User:Rat/Wikifur_art_drive|bounty]] to encourage other artists to do the same. He also has contributed over 100 dollars Canadian to help the [[Wikipedia:Electronic Frontier Foundation|EFF]], because of their defense of fair use and free expression online. RainRat and [[Marfles]] made a [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=87mX31mhJz8 RainFurrest 2009 Music Video] to the [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc/3.0/ Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 3.0] Jonathan Coulton song [http://www.jonathancoulton.com/2006/03/24/thing-a-week-26-re-your-brains/ Re Your Brains].

One pastime that RainRat really enjoys is [[Wikipedia:Pokemon Puzzle League|Pokemon Puzzle League]]. Despite the name, it is a puzzle game that really has nothing to do with Pokemon. Other games have caught his interest over the years, like [[Wikipedia:Nethack|Nethack]] or [[Wikipedia:Star Control II|Star Control II]].

RainRat is on [[Second Life]] under the name '''Rat Rieko''', where his preferred avatar is a [[Ninja Weasel Studios]] brown rat.

==Comics==

Billions." The art quality is limited by RainRat's skill, but he has released the comic under the [http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 or earlier] license so that others can build on it as long as they abide by the terms of the license. The entire comic so far can be viewed at [http://bcfurries.com/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=10423 RainRat's gallery].

== Costuming ==

RainRat's first furry wear acquired was a set of rat ears and rat tail made by [[Jimfoxyboy]]; then he learned how to make the rest of the rat fursuit from Trapa.

He has made several fleece character hats for himself and friends (as gifts; only once out of the five gift hats did he even ask for help buying materials).

RainRat also made part of [[Qumick]]'s fursuit.

RainRat has eight [[fursuit]]s.

<div style="clear:both"></div>
[[Image:Fursuit Markus crouch.JPG|left|75px|thumb|Markus]]
'''Markus''', a [[red fox]], was built by [[Whiteyfawks]] of [[Arend Studios]].<ref>[http://www.livejournal.com/users/whiteyfawks/1758.html New head all done. ^.^] - from [[Whiteyfawks]]'s LiveJournal</ref>

The head was won in an auction on [[FurBid]] on March 24, 2004, and RainRat commissioned WhiteyFawks to make the rest of the body after winning the head.
<div style="clear:both"></div>
[[Image:Fursuit Rattie.JPG|left|75px|thumb|Rattie]]
'''Rattie''' is a brown and white [[rat (species)|rat]].

RainRat built the body, [[paw]]s, and first version head and second version tail with some help from [[Trapa]]. [[Jimfoxyboy]] built the first [[tail]]. The first version suit was finished just in time for [[Anthrocon 2004]]. The second version head was built by Whiteyfawks.

One thing he does for the character is dress the rat as a pirate; then he is a "pi-rat".
<div style="clear:both"></div>
[[Image:Fursuit Bongo.JPG|left|75px|thumb|Bongo]]
'''Bongo''', a black and white [[wolf]], made by [[Enigma Fox]], won on FurBid, and was acquired around April 2006.
<div style="clear:both"></div>
[[Image:Fursuit Arno.JPG|left|75px|thumb|Arno]]
'''Arno''' is a wolf. In September/October 2006, he bought a wolf fursuit from [[Seven]]. To avoid confusion, he renamed the fursuit to '''Arno'''.

There are two heads that go with the fursuit, a toony style one by [[LatinVixen]], and a realistic style one by [[WhiteyFawks]].
<div style="clear:both"></div>
[[Image:Fursuit Banto.JPG|left|75px|thumb|Banto]]
'''Banto''' is a [[wombat]]. His name is a slight modification of the rearrangement of the letters in "wombat".

He is a partial fursuit, made by [[Fallimar]] and won in [[FurBid]] in August 2006.
<div style="clear:both"></div>

[[Image:FC 2008 Heliodor.JPG|left|75px|thumb|Heliodor]]
'''Heliodor''' is a [[flying squirrel]]/[[raccoon]]/[[meerkat]] [[hybrid]]. Commissioned from [[SPark]], he was finished October 2007. Heliodor was designed by [[Davecko]] specifically for the purpose of making a fursuit. The name Heliodor is taken after [[wikipedia:Heliodor|a gemstone]]. RainRat kept his ownership of Heliodor under wraps at first, because he was interested in seeing how people reacted to the character without knowing it was him.
<div style="clear:both"></div>

[[Image:Fursuit Diesel Dog.JPG|left|75px|thumb|Purpleski]]
'''Purpleski''' is a purple [[husky]]. Originally commissioned from [[Arend Studios]] for [[DieselDog]], RainRat bought him September 2008. He renamed him to Purpleski to avoid confusion with the person DieselDog.
<div style="clear:both"></div>

[[File:AC 2009 Bandit.jpg|left|75px|thumb|Bandit]]
'''Bandit''' is a [[raccoon]]/[[meerkat]] based off the same art as Heliodor. The suit was commissioned from [[Kodi]] and received June 2009.
<div style="clear:both"></div>

'''Jacky''' is a [[rabbit]] commissioned from [[Kodi]] and received August 2010.

WikiFur talk:Featured article candidates

2011-06-10T01:55:04Z

CodyDenton: Proposal for frequent rotation of featured articles for refreshing content on front page

OK, so we finally have a process for choosing featured articles. In theory, this procedure should get some interest in editing said articles before they hit the front page, and hopefully ensure they are consistently of a high quality.

I'm not ''entirely'' sure we have sufficient editorial interest to have enough debate about featured article candidates for this to work, but I'm willing to give it a go. If this doesn't work out, I'll go back to doing it myself, but I'm hoping that this will at least make my life easier (and red links on the front page less likely :-). --{{UT|GreenReaper}} 18:42, 11 Sep 2005 (UTC)

== Future candidates ==

How about if we create a list of potential future candidates for Featured article? That is, articles that need some fixing up but which could be good Featured articles once they've been expanded and improved. For example, I noticed there haven't been any Featured articles about movies yet, and I think either [[Animalympics]] or [[The Lion King]] would be good candidates but they need a bit of expansion and/or polish before they're ready. I know of several other articles in a similar state and I'm sure others can think of some too. {{unsigned|Mwalimu}}

:That would be pretty much what this list is for. Ideally if you can see the problem you should fix it first, but if not, I don't see a ''huge'' problem with just listing it here in the hope that someone else can. --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 09:25, 30 October 2006 (UTC)

== 9/11 Furry Status Page ==

Is [[9/11 Furry Status Page]] a good enough article to be a feature article? (Perhaps as a feature article for the second week of September?) --[[User:EarthFurst|EarthFurst]] 09:59, 7 August 2007 (UTC)
:Nominate it and find out. I think it's got some interesting promise and because of the timing, it could be relevant. What I'd like to see is as much of those red names turned blue as possible and maybe some sort of image. I don't know what, I don't think that an image of the Towers burning would be appropriate. Ideas?--[[User:KendricksRedtail|Kendricks Redtail]] 10:50, 7 August 2007 (UTC)

== Archiving ==

I'm boldly moving various nominations into Archive/ since I don't think discussion from a year and longer previous is helpful. -- [[User:Sine|Sine]] 07:18, 17 January 2009 (UTC)

== Marking as ratified ==

This page has been marked as <nowiki>{{proposed}}</nowiki> since it was created. The fact that this is the way we've done this for so long gives us de facto consensus on the actual featured article process. Changing the template from <nowiki>{{proposed}} to {{guideline}}</nowiki>. --[[User:CodyDenton|CodyDenton]] 07:42, 2 June 2011 (EDT)
:Sadly it's clearly not ideal as demonstrated by the consistent lack of featured articles. Suggestions on streamlining the process are welcome. (I'm half-tempted to replace it with the lede of a random article meeting certain criteria.) --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 03:13, 9 June 2011 (EDT)
::If a random article is selected, it could be chosen from here: [[User:Rat/CandidatesForFeaturedArticle]] --[[User:Rat|Rat]] 13:04, 9 June 2011 (EDT)
:::Holy--the page about me is on that list! I'm thunderstruck. [[User:Equivamp|Equivamp]] 13:09, 9 June 2011 (EDT)
::::I'm not sure that it's the process that's broken. How much of this is just that we are SO much smaller than Wikipedia, with a proportionally smaller number of active editors? Admittedly the process to actually '''promote''' an article is non-trivial, but it '''should''' be somewhat so. (The rationale being, it's easy enough for an experienced editor to figure out the process, and it serves as a sort of competency metric.) It might be better if '''nominating''' an article were more straightforward to newer users though.

::::Having said all of that, I agree that we've gotta do something to freshen up the front page. If things look static, it will reduce pageviews over time. Less traffic means less new editors and content, which further erodes traffic. How hard would it be to code a rotation, that loads a different featured article from the pool each time? Sure, it means that content gets rehashed. But isn't that what's happening now, for months on end? Far better to have a rotation of articles than a single stale one, because we're getting new visitors all the time and those articles are still new to THEM.

::::Yes, I do think we need more featured content. Now that I've put out several fires in RL, I am trying to be active in helping with that, but I'm only one person. The curators, likewise, have their paws full. I think we've got a nice supply of featured article candidates for a good start, but I definitely feel that a rotation is an important element to this if it can be implemented in the Wikia code. (I don't know MediaWiki under the hood, although I'm tempted to install an instance of it for an internal wiki at my company so I can learn it. Looks like there are variables like CURRENTDOW / CURRENTDAY that can be used to set up daily rotations but I can't find anything akin to the standard PHP "random rotation" scripts.) --[[User:CodyDenton|CodyDenton]] 21:55, 9 June 2011 (EDT)

'''''Ozy and Millie''''' was a [[funny animal]] comic strip drawn by [[D.C. Simpson]]. Launched in 1998, it was updated five times a week or more for the majority of its run. On April 24, 2008, D.C. Simpson announced on the Ozy and Millie website that the comic would be ending sometime prior to the end of 2008, with occasional longer-length strips possible after that. The last posted regular installment of the series was on December 23, 2008.

''Ozy and Millie'' (vol. 4, ''Authentic Banana Dye'') won the 2002 [[Ursa Major Award]] for ''Best Anthropomorphic Other Literary Work'', as well as ''Best Anthropomorphic Comic'' from the [http://www.ccawards.com/ Web Cartoonist's Choice Awards] for that same year. It was also nominated for ''Best Anthropomorphic Comic Strip'' in 2005, and won the same award in 2006 and 2007.

== History ==
[[Image:OzyandMillie.png|thumb|right|Webcomic's initial logo]]
D.C. Simpson notes on the web site's [http://www.ozyandmillie.org/history/ history page] that early versions of the strip's characters first started appearing at the beginning of 1997. The characters continued in ''Tales of Planet Q'' later that year, eventually becoming Ozy and Millie on 1 January, 1998 (''Planet Q'' was published that same month in ''[[Hunca Munca!]] #5'', and also appeared in the indie comic [[Furrlough]], issue #61). The characters were redesigned over April-May 2000. Versions are available in [http://ozyandmillie.furpost.ru/ Russian], [http://www.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/~tinki/ German] and [http://www.glasswings.com.au/comics/ozyandmillie.fr/ French], along with a few examples in [http://www.ozyandmillie.org/latin/ Latin] and [http://www.ozyandmillie.org/klingon/ Klingon].

== Main Characters ==
As in [[Wikipedia:Charles Schulz|Charles Schulz]]'s [[Wikipedia:Peanuts|Peanuts]], the main focus of of Ozy and Millie is among a group of children. Unlike Peanuts, however, the few adult characters are usually visible to the reader.

A complete list of characters (with pictures) is given on [http://www.ozyandmillie.org/cast.html the O&M site's "cast" page].

=== Ozy ===

[[Image:ozy.gif|right|Ozy]]
Ozy, ten years old, lives in the small American town of North Harbordale, together with his friend Millie. He is an [[Arctic fox|arctic fox]]. He was originally supposed to be a [[Wolf (species)|wolf]] according to D.C. Simpson, until a fan showed him a [http://web.archive.org/web/20060830082827/www.ozyandmillie.org/images/ArcticFoxPups.jpg photo of arctic fox kits] that, he said, were "absolute ringers" for Ozy. Ozy did retain his whisker marks however.

Ozy's full name, Ozymandias Justin Llewellyn, is a reference to the poem ''Ozymandias'' by [[Wikipedia:Percy Bysshe Shelley|Percy Bysshe Shelley]]:

:''My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:''
:''Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!''

Ozy is easily recognised by his large top hat, which he got from his father Llewellyn when he adopted Ozy. Apart from the hat he wears only a vest, but no pants, which occasionally makes him the target of some of Millie's practical jokes. He's generally adept at letting Millie's pranks pass by without much effect, but he does occasionally have to suffer bullying at the hands of the school jock, Jeremy, whose favorite pastime involves stuffing Ozy into rubbish bins. Apart from that, Ozy suffers from annual baldness, usually through either some freak accident or because of Millie. Although it is caused by a curse, which has passed on through Ozy's adoptive father's heritage largely unnoticed, it does affect Ozy rather badly since he is the first Llewellyn with any hair to lose at all.

Ozy is also quiet and serene, and under guidance of his father, Ozy practices the art of [[Wikipedia:Zen|Zen]] - or more a humorous version of it. The fundamentals of his view is explained as: ''It has been said that, while knowledge is acquired by learning... Wisdom is acquired by unlearning.''

=== Millie ===

[[Image:millie.gif|right|Millie]]
:''I act weird because I figure, hey, I'm gonna be an outcast anyway, so I might as well do it with style.'' – Millie

Ozy spends most of his time with his best friend Millie, a ten year old [[Red fox|red fox]] girl. Millicent Mehitabel Mudd, as her full name goes, is usually seen wearing her set of blue denim overalls. Unlike Ozy's zenlike calmness, Millie's trademark is chaos, both in the destruction she leaves behind and the clever ways she devises to get out of doing work.

She's a real rebel, and is opposed to any form of authority, which regularly leads to confrontations with both her teacher, Ms. Sorkowitz, and her mother, Ms. Mudd. Her destructive and rebellious habits not only get herself into trouble, but quite often Ozy too when she drags him along into yet another of her grand schemes of world domination - or, failing that, uses him to hide the trail of destruction. And although she might be havoc incarnate at times, she also has a strong sense of justice, and has a hard time facing the inexplicable wrongs of life and the world she sees. However, her rebellion against the establishment is mostly limited to annoying her mother, playing jokes on Ozy and disrupting the peace at school. None of which matters any less to her, as long as she has fun doing it.

Millie says aloud what others think, and does what others, for fear of reaction from the people around them, wouldn't dare. She has her introspective and thoughtful moments, and like Ozy she thinks about great (and sometimes not so great) philosophical questions. What makes her unique is how she goes about finding the answers.

=== Llewellyn ===

[[Image:llewellyn.gif|right|Llewellyn]]
:''Whatever does not kill me makes me stranger.'' – Llewellyn

Ozy's adoptive father, known only as Llewellyn, is a red [[Dragon|dragon]] whose manner can only be described as strange. When he's not running for U.S. president or involved in some kind of secret conspiracy, he's the one to give Ozy the support he needs with often some clever but seemingly useless advice. In the meantime, he runs his house as a separate nation, Greater Llewellynlland.

Llewellyn is likely around 150-200 years old, and currently lives by himself, having only Ozy to raise and care for. The kids both like him, though they often see him as a big red friendly oddball. While his stories usually contain a lesson somewhere, the lesson is either completely irrelevant or the story completely pointless, and it's never entirely sure whether or not he's actually making it all up as he goes. He clearly has some secrets up his sleeve, but you're more likely to see him bathing in banana pudding than chanting ancient incantations.

=== Ms. Mudd ===

[[Image:ms_mudd.gif|right|Ms. Mudd]]
Millie's mother is best described as an older, wiser, and perhaps more temperate version of Millie herself. Having been much like Millie in her past, and being an accomplished lawyer today, she knows all the tricks, rules and loopholes that come with raising Millie, much to Millie's own annoyance. And while Ms. Mudd knows how to deal with mischievous little fox girls, she's also the first to lend her support if there's anything amiss with her little sprout.

Since she is living alone with Millie, Ms. Mudd has been looking for companionship, and found it with Llewellyn. They've been dating for a while, and it seems that they get along very well together. Not to mention the effect this has on the two children, who can unsurprisingly get along better with the parent of the other most of the time.

Her full name was finally revealed to be Mililani Minerva Mudd on October 1, 2008, ending years of speculation by fans.

CodyDenton: noted promotion in discussion history.

===[[Ozy and Millie]]===
A very popular webcomic. This article represents a solid WikiFur entry and I feel it warrants being featured. <small>—The preceding unsigned comment was added by [[User:Taren|Taren]] ([[User talk:Taren|talk]] • [[Special:Contributions/Taren|contribs]]) .</small>
:The article's quite a nice one. How do people feel about having a featured article that was already a featured comic? (Admittedly, a long time ago . . .) --[[User:GreenReaper|GreenReaper]]([[User talk:GreenReaper|talk]]) 00:47, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
::I don't have a problem with it. I think to be a featured article, rather than just a featured comic, it should have more real world history and references. --[[User:Rat|Rat]] 00:58, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
:::At the expense of some necromancy, I'll bump this with a '''support'''. We need to keep content fresh on the front page too, and waiting for every article to be perfect won't get us there. As has been pointed out, we're smaller than Wikipedia, and we really don't have the number of well-matured articles that they do. Better to spotlight a different diamond in the rough regularly than to have the same featured content on the front page forever. We don't want to give users the impression that the site is static. --[[User:CodyDenton|CodyDenton]] 11:47, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
:::Support here as well. It's a well-written, informative article. --<font color="#5f200d"><b>[[GingerM]]</b></font> <small><sup>([[User_talk:GingerM|Leave me a message]])</sup></small> 17:25, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
::::'''Pending promotion.''' I was going to do this today, but I've re-read the article. There are some very minor cleanup issues, such as fixing a few verb tenses (the comic ended 12/2008), that need to be done first. I don't have time to do that right now but in the next day or two I'll do so, and then promote this into a featured slot. --[[User:CodyDenton|CodyDenton]] 11:02, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
:::::'''Promoted.''' Although it took me a while longer to get around to it thanks to [[Real Life]], it's finally done. --[[User:CodyDenton|CodyDenton]] 04:09, 9 June 2011 (EDT)

=== Ozy ===

WikiFur:Featured article candidates

2011-06-09T07:25:22Z

CodyDenton: Ozy and Millie discussion archived

{{guideline}}

__TOC__
== Procedure ==

=== Adding nominations ===

=== Supporting and objecting ===

=== Writing a good summary ===

=== Featuring an article ===

=== Millie ===

=== Llewellyn ===

=== Ms. Mudd ===

The Anthrocon Recruiting Song

2011-06-08T09:27:16Z

CodyDenton: +tweaks

::::;The Anthrocon Recruiting Song

== Byblos-RP ==

"Byblos" (www.byblos-rp.net), originally named Masque, is a role-playing site which caters to any form of user; be it furry, human, xeno, mythos or any other form of being. The site allows both 18 over and under users entry; though the under 18s are verified and blocked off from any and all adult content which may befall their eyes. The site allows artwork posting, role-playing and general discussion between members of various backgrounds, through both use of the forum boards and the AJAX chat.

Set up by Kaj/[[Talija]], Errant/[[Micah Coon]] and Ikari/[[LadyDarkSphynx]] in 2010, the site came into existance toward the end of [[Furry-Within]] prior to it's regeneration. These discussions began after the merger of [[Yiffy.net]] with [[Yiffy.tk]], and had continued through after the pair took up position as the [[Furry-Within]] admin.

After [[Taryn Crimson]] stepped down, TigerPaws was added on as the site tech admin; though a second admin is currently being sought out as TigerPaws has a limited amount of time windows where he can work on the site as he also works in real life.

Cheshire Cat, Daughters of the Moon and Thalassa were added to the staffing team as the site anticipated going fully live and open to the public.

[[Arai]] was added to the team after going live after the team felt another moderator was required.

== Site Features ==

CodyDenton: quick tweaks

[[File:scgologo2011.png|thumb|right||200px|Scg's Official Logo as of 2011]]
'''Southern Cross Gaming (SCG)''' is a furry gaming community on Steam<ref>[http://steamcommunity.com/groups/southerncrossgaming Southern Cross Gaming on Steam].</ref> founded in late 2010 by [[Rowedahelicon]]. While it is focused around its Tf2 servers (Two as of June 2011, Chocolate and Vanilla), it holds and maintains several others including one for Killing Floor, Minecraft, Monday Night Combat and so on.

==Naming==
The Southern Cross is a nickname for the [[wikipedia:crux|Crux]] constellation, Crux being the fursona of the owner. Unlike most other furry groups that name their groups with fur related names, Rowdy states he chose Southern Cross as an in house reference to himself, and to downplay the furry factor as it calls upon unnecessary trolling. <ref>"When we were associated with the BFG, we were raided by several groups spanning over 4000 people in one night, Scg? Most we've ever gotten was your typical troll or hacker." - Rowedahelicon</ref>

==Trivia==
-The '''Smite''', '''Drug''', '''Freeze''' and '''Fire''' commands are broadcasted as after '''Pk Thunder''', '''Pk Brainshock''', '''Pk Freeze''' and '''Pk Fire''' respectively, a nod to the [[wikipedia:earthbound|Earthbound]] series.<br/>
-The occasional chat message (Tiger Blood makes you win at everything) is both a reference to [[wikipedia:Charlie Sheen|Charlie Sheen]], and the quote "Bacon makes you better at everything" from Monday Night Combat.<br/>
-The quote on the Steam Group page with the line '''"The very Crux of the problem"''' is from the book, '''Tragic Sense of Life By Miguel de Unamuno'''.<br/>
-Many of the group's news post make references to current games in the form of mannerisms.<br/>
-While SCG was formed in November of 2010, the server itself was up since June 2010, under the BFG name. That server was decommissioned in early 2011 and replaced with was is known now as the Chocolate server.
