Cobalt husky:

Aegis (also known as Flying Fox or FlyingFox17) is a fox furry who lives in Wilmington, Delaware, U.S.A. He regularly attends many conventions, as well as local furmeets, including The Furst State's meets in Delaware and LupineFox's meets in Hellertown, Pennsylvania.

He was originally introduced to the furry fandom by his older sister, One Winged Weasel, who is no longer actively involved in the fandom.

an interview with aegis himself.

Cobalt Coby: one thing all readers want to know is... where did you come up with your character design?

aegis_fox: Hm. For which character? I have three of them.
Cobalt Coby: the most comon one. aegis

aegis_fox: Ah yes, that was a direct influence. I had run into a fursuiter during my first year of AC, who happened to be in a grey fox suit.

aegis_fox: I had been carrying around a large (well, nine) group of fox plush with me, for lack of foresight, and he looked through them, attempting to find a grey. One of which was, a Ty beanie by the name of "Sly".
It was then I noticed that not all foxes appeared in equal distribution. Until then, I hadn't even known there were foxes other than red ones. So I decided that if I was to be a fox, I'd be a grey one. The being a fox part never panned out, but it stuck for my character regardless.
A bit of coincidence in that grey foxes ended up being my favorites, anyway.

Cobalt Coby: i will have to ask you to use one message at a time as to not confuse the readers

aegis_fox: Oh, very well, but the responses will take longer.
Cobalt Coby: yes. what is it exactly that made you stick to the fandom? was it the people, the life style...what do you think?

aegis_fox: Well, the original reason I went into the fandom was an attempt to build a social life, for lack of one elsewhere at the time. I was expecting to click, to just belong... Naturally, that didn't happen. I stayed a part of it anyway, and grew to enjoy the social atmosphere, the general ambience of everyone involved, and how easily connections could be formed between people. It's one of the main reasons I'm still a part of it, the other being that I know so many involved with it already. The existence of foxes inside of it hasn't hurt either.

Cobalt Coby: so exactly how many years have you been involved?

aegis_fox: My first interaction with anything furry was AC '04, though I didn't start considering myself a furry until about three years later. Depends how technical you wish to get.

Cobalt Coby: you seem to have attended many conventions. how many up to date?

aegis_fox: Are we asking types, or total?

Cobalt Coby: total furry

aegis_fox: Just counting furry... 14, if I counted right.

Cobalt Coby: in your own opinion. which furry convention has been the best for you?

aegis_fox: 15, actually, and I'm getting to that. I just wanted them done in order. As to favorite, that's hard to say, since size alone determines what goes on. Small conventions are good for socializing, large ones tend to have more activities going on.... My favorite large con so far would be Further confusion, but overall, Fur Affinity: United, has probably been the most fun.

External links
*Not a Significant Source of Drama - Aegis on LiveJournal

person-stub
